I hit a parked car and drove away This morning on my way to work I hit a parked car. I’m 99 percent sure no one saw. But I can feel the guilt eating away at me. I have no idea what to do. I want to go back after work and confess but I don’t want to be charged with a hit and run. Any advice?
I found the perfect girl, but I’m a wimp My fiance just lost a job we were barely getting by on and now were earning $1,080 a month with the new one. Our bills total $800 a month so it’s not working out well and in two weeks our son turns four. I’m stressing out that we won’t even have a present let alone give him the party he’s wanting. I've been looking at houses but all I can find that’s cheaper are apartments where he would lose his pets. I have no idea what to do and it’s stressing me out like crazy. Just needed to vent for a minute I guess. Thanks!
Every single day I worry about dying and it’s eating away at me
One of the conditions I’m afflicted with is generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) and one of my biggest triggers of anxiety attacks is the thought of death, seeing as it is unknown and eternal. I’m cautious around roads (in case I get hit by a car or a motorcycle), I stay out of potentially dangerous situations, my overactive imagination propagates unusual and dire situations (such as being shot randomly or getting raped), I cry at the thought of “the end of the world”, and the idea of being buried underground for an eternity is horrifying. Now, this would all be okay if it didn’t materialise but my anxiety manifests itself in physical symptoms such as acne, shivers, dermatophagia and obsessive skin-picking. And I avoid a lot of situations because of it, so my anxiety may be preventing me from exploring the world.
I’ve known her since I was in grade school, and Jesus Christ, she’s amazing. She has her flaws, but unlike almost everyone else I meet, they don’t bother me. We are really close and I think she may like me, especially because I’m not the kind of guy girls usually talk about missing and yet she consistently tells me she misses me. But I can’t ask her out. I know I like her and maybe more, but I don’t know what I’d do if I got rejected. I don’t think I could handle losing her as a friend, but I want her to be more than that.
I like chubby girls but I can’t bring myself to tell anybody I’ve got a full blown fetish for chubby girls. In the past I’ve only been in relationships with girls who are in shape, whom I do like, but those relationships have not been working out for more than a couple months at most maybe in part due to my attraction to chubby girls. My problem is that for some reason I feel embarrassed to act on my attractions. I feel as though I am lying to myself and therefore to others. My friends and family knowing I like chubby girls would weigh so heavily on my mind I’m afraid what it may do to me mentally, socially, etc.

If you want to be more successful -- at anything -- than you are right now, you need to know yourself and your skills. And when you fall short of your goals, you need to know why. This should be no problem; after all, who knows you better than you do? And yet your own ratings of your personality traits -- for instance, how open-minded, conscientious, or impulsive you are -correlate with the impressions of other people (who know you well) at around .40. In other words, how you see yourself and how other people see you are only very modestly correlated. Who's right? Who knows you best? Well, the research suggests that they do -- other people's assessment of your personality predicts your behavior, on average, better than your assessment does. The truth is, we don't know ourselves nearly as well as we think we do. When it comes to performance, our surprising selfignorance makes understanding where we went right and where we went wrong difficult, to say the least. At the root of the problem is the human brain itself. There's a lot going on in there, but just because it's your brain doesn't mean you know what it's doing. In his fascinating book Strangers to Ourselves, psychologist Timothy Wilson summarizes decades of research on what he calls our adaptive unconscious, showing us just how much of what we do during every moment of every day -- what we think, how we feel, the goals we pursue and the actions we take -- is happening below our conscious awareness. Some of it we can notice if we engage in a little self-reflection, but much of it we simply cannot -- it's not directly accessible to us at all. Why would our brains work this way? For the most part, the answer seems to be because it's wildly efficient. I've often made the analogy that if our nonconscious mind's processing power is like that of a NASA super-computer, then by comparison, our conscious mind can handle roughly the contents of a Postit note. It's limited and slow, and when too much is asked of it, it starts dropping things. If we had to do everything we do consciously, then we'd be so busy remembering to breathe and

By handing operations over to the nonconscious mind -- including high-level, complex operations like pursuing goals -- we make productivity possible. The downside, of course, is that when things go wrong we have an understandably difficult time figuring out why, given that we weren't completely conscious of what we were doing in the first place. It's like an old-fashioned murder mystery -- there's a dead body on the floor, and it's the detective's job to figure out what happened, even though he was miles away when the murder occurred. He rounds up the suspects and weighs the evidence, and thereby discovers who's to blame.

Because if we ask you flat out why you didn't get that promotion, or why you can't get along with your coworkers, or why you can't seem to lose that last 15 pounds, you'll probably say something like "I just don't have what it takes," and we already know that's wrong.
When you fail to reach a goal -- say, for instance, you give an important presentation and it doesn't go well -- you become the detective (once again, largely unconsciously). You gather up the usual suspects to see who is responsible for your failure: lack of innate ability, lack of effort, poor preparation, using the wrong strategy, bad luck, etc. Of all of these possible culprits, it's lack of innate ability we most frequently hold responsible, like the much-maligned butler in an Agatha Christie novel. In Western countries -- and nowhere more so than in the U.S. -- innate ability is the go-to explanation for all of our successes and our failures.
But what if you're not working with a psychologist, or doing a 360 review, or getting enough feedback from your boss or your coworkers? Then what do you do? I wrote a blog post (that became a Harvard Business Press e-book) called Nine Things Successful People Do Differently. In the time since it was first published, I've received more than a few emails from readers asking how they can know if they are doing enough of each thing. "How do I know if I am really a realistic optimist?" "Am I being specific enough?" "Have I built up enough willpower?" Good questions. And once again, very difficult to self-diagnose -- and improvement is impossible without good answers. This is why I recently created the Nine Things Diagnostic. It's a set of questions you can answer online and get immediate feedback (for free) that tells you which of the nine things you need to work on, and which ones you have already mastered.
The problem is that the evidence -- the kind gathered by scientists over the last 30 years of study of motivation and achievement -- suggests that innate ability is rarely to blame for either succeeding or falling short. (If you've blamed your poor performances in the past on a lack of ability, don't feel bad. We've all done it. The butler seems guilty. Just please don't do it anymore.)
You certainly don't need to take my diagnostic to figure out how where your weaknesses lie. The point is that you will absolutely need feedback -- the kind you can trust -- because trying to figure it all out on your own is close to impossible. Relying on our intuitions alone for self-knowledge is dangerous, because thanks to the nature of the adaptive unconscious, they are often no more accurate than a shot in the dark.
If we are going to ever improve performance, we need to place blame where it belongs. We need solid evidence about where we went wrong. Unfortunately, that's the kind of evidence that usually doesn't make it to our consciousness on its own, making self-diagnosis practically impossible. We need help getting the right answers.

Why Am I Here? Do you ever feel like you are wasting your life? Wasting your talent? Wasting your time, or all of these things, in a job, relationship, or a situation you are in? I have felt that way. And it's made me, needless to say, feel very depressed. I have felt like there are other places I "should" be and other things I "should be doing." I have felt like time is running out and I'm not using any of my gifts. I was talking to my friend about it, and he said something that shifted it all for me. He said, "You think you're not supposed to be at your job? But you are at your job. You're there, so of course you're supposed to be there." Whoa. Um, yeah. I'm there. For whatever reason. For whatever I
need to learn and whatever I need to contribute. Honestly, since then, I see my job situation as exciting. Because there's a lesson there for me. I don't know what it is yet, but if I go in with the willingness and openness to see what that is, then I will learn why I'm there. And if I go in with the consciousness of sharing the talents and energy I can there, and do my absolute best, then I will see what I'm there to contribute. Life has a way of giving us what we need, whether we like it or not. We have things to learn, things to share. Sometimes what we're meant to share isn't what we think (or hope!). Next time you're frustrated or angry or sad about where you are, pause and really ask yourself, "Why am I here?" If you don't know the answer yet, be open to seeing what that is. Be open and willing to
seeing what you are there to learn and what you are there to share. This attitude shifts you from being a victim. Now, the job or situation isn't doing something "to you" -- you take back your power when you take responsibility for why you are there. Trust that if you are in a certain relationship, situation or job, it's because you need to be there to learn something or share something. Once you've learned what you came there to learn or shared what you came there to share, life will assist you in moving on to the next.

Have you stopped Dreaming? I haven't been much fun to be around since the New Year. I've been in a funk. Unmotivated. Defeated and resigned to the state of my life (a state I wasn't happy with). In fact, now that I'm looking back, I realize that I began this downward spiral into a state of resignation this summer -- resigned to all the things that went along with taking a steady full-time job with a reliable paycheck instead of trying to make a living from my passions. Resigned to sitting inside at a computer all day with no direct sunlight (I'm not good with no light. And I'm not good with not moving all day. Ask my office mate -- It's not pretty). Resigned to the fact that if I ever want to have financial stability, this was just going to have to be my life now. Resigned to the fact that in order for me to survive this, I'd have to stuff down all my desires and dreams. I wasn't exactly conscious that I was stuffing down my dreams. But I was conscious of the fact that I was getting used to the "Sunday night blues," my dreaded weekly visitor. I
was getting used to having to step outside my office to have sporadic crying spells throughout the day, getting used to feeling like a robot just going through the motions in order to get through my day. The way I was living started to affect my friendships ... I was just too tired and didn't have the energy to see my friends, let alone be there for them. But when I did see them, I wasn't even present. And it was affecting my relationship with my boyfriend because I wasn't myself. The always "up," optimistic girl he fell in love with was replaced by a pessimist. Finally, one day, he turned to me and said, "I've been trying to ride this out with you, supporting you as best I could. But it's enough. I love you, but this isn't you. When did you stop dreaming?" BAM. That question hit me like a triple shot of espresso (and I'm sensitive to caffeine). It woke me up. I started bawling uncontrollably, letting the months of repression come out. It wasn't the job that was making me unhappy -- because truthfully, I like what I'm doing at my job. But it was all the meaning I had attached to having the job. For some reason I had equated having a reliable full-time job with being a failure at achieving my dreams, so I had decided that I might as well stop dreaming, because hey, dreams never come true anyway. Um, hello, of course I was depressed all the time! What a horrible way to think and live. My entire life, I've had BIG dreams. Those dreams filled me with excitement. And when some of those dreams didn't come true (like being the first Academy/Grammy/ Tony Award winner to also be an astronaut

and a veterinarian), they were always replaced with new dreams. I didn't let the non-achievement of one dream get me down for too long. One of my good friends Danielle has called me a "choo-choo" train that just keeps on going no matter what. But this train had been derailed. My boyfriend was right; somewhere along the way, I did stop dreaming. And with that loss of dreaming came a loss of zest for my life, a loss of passion, a loss of drive. I spent the next few weeks at work just lightening up on myself a bit. I did the same things, but I had a shift in attitude. I started getting reacquainted with my most recent dreams -- dreams of taking the holistic weight loss program I so excitedly created to the next level, dreams of helping people heal through the holistic approach of body/ mind/soul using Reiki and Physical Fitness, dreams of the book I had been writing which is a new take on dating and relationships for women. And in tapping back into those dreams just a little bit, in just sort of allowing myself to think about them and feel them again, things started to change. "Out of the blue," I had three people contact me about giving them healing sessions. "Out of the blue," an opportunity showed up for a training and certification program that would allow me to take my fitness knowledge further so that I can be better at what I do. I was still at my job (and "funnily" enough really started enjoying it more ... hmm), but just by reconnecting to my dreams, the universe started bringing me little things to have the opportunity to start living my dreams again. The energy I put out boomeranged back.
We may not have the luxury of quitting our jobs. We may not have the luxury of going after our dreams full-time. But we have the luxury of remembering that our unhappiness or lack of excitement or disconnection from our dreams is NOT our job's fault. We have the power of choice. We have free will. We can tap into our dreams no matter what our circumstances are. They're still there, though they may be suppressed way deep down by years of society or parents telling you you can't and it's not possible, by years of feeling like a failure because certain dreams didn't come true, by a life-time of believing that you're not worthy... by years of your own selfdoubt....by years of your own disconnection from your dreams as a means of protection (not seeing a dream realized is painful so the logic is that it's better just not to dream at all). But when we stop dreaming, we have nothing really to look forward to. We have nothing really to be excited about. As we yell in this month's intenSati fitness class - "I am ready for all I've dreamed... I release my fears. I believe! I dare to dream! I dare to believe! I keep reaching higher to achieve my dreams!" Starting now, today, DARE to dream again. Just start to allow yourself to do it, one tiny little bit. There's a kabbalistic saying, "Open me an opening the size of the eye of a needle (you know, where the thread goes...it's pretty miniscule) and I will show you the supernal wonders." One little moment of dreaming, that's it. That's all you've gotta do.

How to love the unlovable Why do some people act in an unlovable way? The answer is fear! Someone or something has hurt them. They have been ignored or abused in some way. Their response is to keep people from hurting them again. So what do we do? We reject them instead of loving them. This is not the correct response and only makes matters worst. Step 1 - Recognise abuse. Abuse is ill-treatment of another person. That person reacts to that kind of treatment and becomes defensive and acts out. Step 2 - Try not to react to them.
If they are angry becoming angry at them will not help the situation. Getting angry at someone who is afraid is not the loving response.
Step 3 - Trying to reason with a person who is afraid is a waste of time.
Their actions are not reasonable but their actions are because of their fears. They can be considered as being at war so their actions are aggressive and not calm.
Step 4 - Practice empathy for the person.
Think of how you would feel if you had been treated as they have been treated.
Step 5 - Patience is necessary.
“Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. Patience is the level of endurance one's character can take before negativity. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast.” (Quoted from Wikipedia)
Step 6 - Kindness is required.
Being sympathetic to a person’s life and needs is the answer. Many hearts are encased as in an ice cube. The kindness of a person melts the ice, leaving only a loving heart.
Step 7 - Let go.
Do not try to control, constrain or regulate the person. Allow the person to do what they choose to do.
Step 8 - Live in peace.
The freedom to choose the way they live their life is important. And when they make the right choices and act appropriately they need to be rewarded for their actions to encourage them.

How to unclog a Toilet
The toilet may very well top the list of mankind’s greatest innovations – until it clogs. Then it’s the lowly plunger that dives in and claims the, ahem, throne.
You Will Need • A toilet plunger • A pair of rubber gloves • A cup • A bucket
STEP 1 Put on rubber gloves
If the waste water level is too high to plunge without making an even bigger mess, put on rubber gloves.
STEP 2 Reduce waste water level
Dip the cup into the toilet repeatedly and pour its contents into the bucket, until you’ve reduced the waste water level enough to plunge without spillage.
STEP 3 Put plunger into toilet
Put the plunger into the toilet with the force cup end down in the water.
STEP 4 Position force cup & push down
Position the force cup over the drainage opening at the bottom of the toilet and push down on the plunger handle until a suction seal is formed.
STEP 5 Plunge rhythmically
Do this for up to 2 minutes at a time (about 20 to 30 plunges).
STEP 6 Break the suction seal
Break the suction seal. If your efforts have worked, the toilet will start to drain without flushing. If no drainage occurs, repeat the plunging process.
STEP 7 Pour bucket and flush toilet
After you’ve cleared the clog, pour the contents of the bucket back into the toilet and flush.

10 Questions to ask before quitting your day job to run your own company BY LISA GIRARD
The dream of being one’s own boss is what leads many people to start businesses, but leaving your bread-and-butter job to fulfill that vision is a move that shouldn’t be made hastily. In his book, Quitter: Closing the Gap Between Your Day Job & Your Dream Job (Lampo Press, 2011), Nashville-based author Jon Acuff says that between 70 and 80 percent of people think about quitting their job to do something more fulfilling. “A lot of people wake up Monday morning and say, ‘How did I get here?’” he says. “You take a six-month stop-gap job sometimes and find yourself still there years later, but it doesn’t have to be that way.” That said, Acuff and other experts say there are some important things to consider before quitting your day job to start a business.
Here are the ten questions you should ask yourself. 1. Is this going to make me happier? Before leaving your job for uncharted territory, make sure this is really what you want – not just what you think you want or a way to escape your current job. “I personally believe you should get enjoyment out of your career,” says Chris Hurn, Orlando, Fla.based, author of The Entrepreneur’s Secret to Creating Wealth: How The Smartest Business Owners Build Their Fortunes (Advantage, 2012). “Too many people suffer silently in their job, but before you go out to be your own boss, you have to believe you’re going to be happier. If you can’t say that you believe it will make you happier, don’t do it.” 2. Is the timing right? If your wife is pregnant or you’ve just taken over the care of an elderly parent, it may not be the right time to leave the security of an established job to pursue the dream. “We throw out these Pinterest-sized platitudes like, ‘Just go for it’ or, ‘Step out in faith.’ And then we pretend that we don’t have a
mortgage or bills or responsibilities,” Acuff says. Instead, be honest about your current situation; be realistic about your bills and your commitments; and then make an informed decision. 3. How will I cover my expenses? The biggest detriment to starting a business? Being undercapitalized, says Deborah Shane of Fort Myers, Fla., author of Career Transition – Make the Shift: Your Five Steps to Successful Career Reinvention (Deborah Shane, 2010). You should have a rainy day fund or savings built up to cover you and the business for a certain period of time, the length of which will be determined by the nature of the business and how quickly you’ll be able to pay yourself a salary (although Shane suggests 12 months as a good place to start). “Make sure you have the money to pay both your personal and business expenses for that period before venturing out on your own,” she says. 4. Do I have the support of family and close friends? The talents and shortcomings we have the hardest time recognizing are often our own. So before venturing away from a secure situation, Acuff suggests asking the people you trust the most how well-suited they think you are to the opportunity. “Talking to family and close friends will help you realize if you’re going after something that you really want to do, or just escaping your current situation,” he says. “Don’t just talk to the dreamers in the group that will tell you to go for it. Talk to the people that will be honest with you and encourage you if you’re on the right path.” 5. How much am I willing to change my lifestyle? Some people are very good at structure. Getting up, going to work for a set number of hours, performing set tasks, and interacting with co-workers works really well for them. Yet starting your own business can be anything but structured and can mean long, hard hours – very often spent alone. “There’s also a lot of self-motivation involved. You have to be structured, innovative, creative
and proactive,” Shane says. “The solo nature of it is not for everyone.” 6. Do I truly have the discipline to be my own boss? Many people think if they can be their own boss, it’s going to make life easier. Sometimes that’s true, but not always, according to Hurn. Not everyone is meant to be a business owner. Although entrepreneurs come in all shapes and sizes, they do often share traits like good leadership skills and a desire to be in control. “Many people think entrepreneurship is for risk-takers, and that’s not necessarily the case,” he says. “I think successful entrepreneurs do the due diligence before starting their business and minimize the risk involved in a new project.” 7. Can I test the waters without giving up my current job? Acuff urges people to ‘beta test’ their dream job before leaving a stable situation to pursue it full-time. You might find you don’t like the new career as much as you thought you would. “Before you quit your accounting job to open a coffee shop, it might be good to work at a Starbucks parttime for six months to see if you hate coffee and humans,” he says. “Practice the dream.” 8. Are there skills I still need to brush up on? Before stepping out, make sure you have the relevant skills, qualities and intangibles to
make a new business work. It’s important to be up to date on the latest technology in your field and be able to use social media to your advantage. “Make sure your skill gaps are closed and that you’re up on trends and best practices in the area you are getting into, following the top blogs and web sites,” Shane says. “So much is changing so fast -staying relevant is crucial to success.” 9. Am I sure my business idea is sound? It’s important to make sure what you’re planning to do is marketable, that it fills a niche. Is there a need for this thing you want to do? “I work with a lot of creative people who have started businesses based on peoples’ lifestyles, the world we live in today,” Shane says. 10. Do I have a business plan? It doesn’t have to be the length of a novel, but anyone starting a new business should put together a plan that includes a sound sales and marketing plan. Winging it is not an option in today’s competitive marketplace. “It doesn’t have to be complicated, but can be as simple as a onepage summary,” Shane says. “Look at it as a road map.”

Why your employees need to make more mistakes BY DAN LEVIN
Large companies have many advantages over smaller newcomers: lots of resources, plenty of capital and longstanding customer relationships. Also, big companies, with their more experienced personnel and more complex procedures, tend to make fewer mistakes. But that isn’t actually an advantage. In fact, for a new company, a willingness to make mistakes is a strength that management should seek to leverage. Why? Because mistakes are what happen when you’re moving fast. Or, to put it another way, if you want to minimize mistakes, you will also have to slow down. If you’re too consumed with preventing mistakes, you’ll sacrifice speed. In today’s competitive landscape, this is not an acceptable tradeoff for a young company, for which speed is one of the few
natural advantages over larger, more powerful incumbents. As you grow, you’ll naturally and inevitably lose some of your speed, but you can minimize the loss by understanding why it’s happening. Yes, it’s fear of lawsuits, and the greater number of stakeholders in a larger organization. But the primary reason companies lose velocity as they grow is because the team grows too fearful of mistakes. For example, do you find yourself rewarding the employee who delivers a presentation that’s perfectly formatted and typo-free? Or the employee who delivers the bare-bones presentation, but has communicated all the right answers, delivered in half the time? Who gets promoted in your company? Is it the person who drives hard, takes calculated risks, and occasionally screws up? Or is it the one who keeps his head down, plays by the rules and takes no chances? In many companies, the cautious, error-free employee wins every time while the aggressive ones completing the same amount of work in half the time, albeit with a few more minor mistakes, get lost in the shuffle. As leaders, maximum throughput, not perfection, is what we should be solving for. At Box, we want our teams to deliver as much progress as possible per unit time on businesscritical priorities. Mistakes are a cost, but speed is a benefit. It’s critical to understand that at some point in your efforts to minimize mistakes, you’re going to lose out on maximizing workplace productivity and efficiency. So how do we make sure we’re making the right tradeoff? How do we teach our team to drive hard, and to accept the occasional mistake in the service of increased speed? When I sit down with recent hires, I try to help them escape the mindset they carried with them from whatever big company they came from, and into the mindset of a Boxer.
After all, at a younger company just beginning to grow and scale, they are better off making fifty decisions and five mistakes a day than make ten decision and being right every time. I tell them that as long as they make the best call they can with the data available at the time (and with the best interests of the company at heart) they won’t get in trouble for being wrong. But the talk is not enough: it’s also critical that they see me making, owning and learning from mistakes. People don’t do what you tell them, they do what you do. Here are four key guidelines we follow at my company: Tell everyone upfront that mistakes will not only be accepted, but are in fact critical in the interest of speed, so long as the mistakes are made in good faith, not repeated and promptly fixed. Reinforce the message by announcing a couple of your own mistakes -- at least to your own team -- and celebrating their rapid repair. Don’t send conflicting messages by flogging people for honest mistakes. Fix the problem, not the blame and take the opportunity to remind the team that mistakes are valued over the price of speed. Promote those who get the most useful work done, not the ones who make the least mistakes. If you run fast, you’ll stumble from time to time. Convince your team that the occasional stumble is worth it and will be saluted rather than censured. You need your speed. It’s one of your most critical assets says. “They’ve found niches to help working moms, families, individuals who are time-starved.” Make sure your idea is relevant before making that leap.
3 Things entrepreneurs get wrong when negotiating BY JIM CAMP
“Show me the money!” -- the famous line from the movie Jerry Maguire -- carries the sort of gusto and optimism that is ear candy to entrepreneurs. But as a professional negotiation coach with nearly three decades’ in the trenches, I associate that catchy phrase with something else entirely. The reality is most entrepreneurs begin to think about negotiation -- this includes the word “negotiation,” setting up a meeting, and the overall negotiation process -- only when it’s time to be shown the cash. In other words, in the minds of just about every small business owner, a negotiation is when the money talks. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I can’t imagine the millions of dollars entrepreneurs have lost, over the lifespan of their businesses, by defining negotiation
in such a limited way. Negotiation is the effort to bring about agreement between two or more parties, with all parties having the right to veto. True, the topic of money is invariably involved in this process. But good negotiation includes other critical components that most entrepreneurs either ignore or are unaware of. Here’s what you’re probably doing wrong, and how to get it right. 1. You think you’ve told the other side everything they need to know. Does the following litany sound familiar? “My product has organic ingredients.” “My services have a money-back guarantee.” “My customer support is available 24/7.” Sorry, but those are just facts. What you must do is provide your potential buyer with a vision. And I’m not talking “benefits,” which are often just repackaged facts. Here’s the sequence. After you describe the other person’s pain and dissatisfaction, you present a true picture of what his or her life will be like after using your products or services.
In other words, address how what you’re selling will dramatically alter the potential customer’s problem. Then let the person take in the specifics of the new peace of mind they will enjoy by doing business with you. 2. You fail to connect the vision with your fee. If you know your potential client’s pain -which could be as simple as, say, their current supplier’s inability to meet the delivery target dates -- and you’ve rendered a vision of that pain back to them and explained how you can take that pain away, then it’s time to align your promise with a cost. Many entrepreneurs regard their good or service as merely another product the prospective buyer will stock, or a service to replace the one currently in use. However, if what you’re offering is unique, then you’re presenting to the other side not an interchangeable offering but an opportunity tied to the better vision you have just painted for the buyer. Such opportunities often come with higher price tags, which you had better be prepared to defend.
3. You fail to realize that every moment with a potential client is a negotiation. This goes back to my original observation that most entrepreneurs identify a very narrow window as the time frame in which to discuss money. However, if the only time to seal the deal is when you’re “negotiating,” then what are you accomplishing when you network or participate in trade shows? If you’re saving negotiating for some future date, then are you simply handing out business cards? Every moment you spend with someone you might do business with -- which means just about anyone you meet anywhere, at any time -- is a chance to create a vision for them. If you’re certain that you would display a warm, nurturing and calm demeanor during a formal negotiation, then convey the same traits at a busy industry event and see how you can make the other person realize you can help them achieve their goals. Every interaction with a potential client is a negotiation. No tables or conference rooms required.

For many years Adrian Raymond has worked behind the scenes with many of the women who have gone on to represent Trinidad and Tobago at beauty pageants around the world. This year he is working with the Miss Trinidad and Tobago Miss Universe delegates, preparing them mentally for the world stage. He is not a psychologist but he has developed into this country’s most successful beauty queen trainer. He is the most unusual person you would ever meet. His ingenuity is astonishing. Just merely listening to him has encouraged me to look beyond the horizon. There must be more opportunities waiting for me. He says, “if you have an idea, you have to go for it. Feed on your passion, let it be your driving force, as it will lead you to where you need to be.” Adrian is no mere windbag. These words are words he puts into action.
He began his career with his involvement in the T&T Miss World pageant of 1998. The first woman he worked with was Jeanette McKyle. He prepared her for the interview session. The following year he met Ingrid Knox. Ingrid, a designer, was impressed with his skills and creativity. The delegate he worked with, Sacha Anton, won the competition. And the other delegate he assisted, Alexis Chavalry, was the first runner-up. After that achievement all sorts of doors opened wide for Raymond. He got to work with Peter Elias to prepare a woman named Heidi and at the same time work with other women who had asked him to help them – Sheri Byronne and Franchesca Matthew. The remarkable outcome was that Heidi placed first and Sheri and Franchesca were runners-up. Raymond continued to “feed on his passion” and it led him closer to where he needed to be. CCN approached Peter Elias during their stint as the Miss Trinidad and Tobago Miss Universe franchise holder. After working with him and being aware of his capabilities Peter recommended that Raymond do the interview training for the Pageant Company of Trinidad and Tobago. At present, Adrian is working with a sports company. His job allows him to work with many ministers and athletes. He is required to do research, market-

ing, communications and respond to media queries and it has made him a very versatile and dynamic individual. Adrian for the past eight years has worked in a communications capacity with the Carnival band Tribe. He also coordinates the Spirit Sports Awards and most recently was also privileged to do some creative work on the film, “Red, White and Black”. Adrian’s life is somewhat like a good book. You enjoy reading about his life now, but you are very curious to see what will happen in the upcoming chapters. And he has made a few plans for those chapters. He wants to always be involved in activities that utilise his creativity and wants to own his own business, brand or project. He says that as far as his personal life is concerned he would like to settle down in a lasting relationship with his significant other. As for his OMG moment, Adrian said it happened recently when he was placed in a leadership role and he realised that he was capable of steering the ship, all because of what he had learnt from the beauty pageants he had been involved in. He had to empower people. He didn’t hesitate to say that it was God working through him that allowed him to empower these people.

Those who are not gifted with a sharp sense of fashion call for the help of a professional, a fashion designer/ stylist. Being a fashion designer /stylist entails long hours and lots of travel to locate garments and accessories for a clientele which can range from theatre performers, runway modelss, entertainers to artistes. OMG magazine had the privilege meeting one of the new, up-and-coming designers and stylists in Trinidad.

She doesn’t want to lurk in the shadows, she wants Trinidad to see what she can do with her designs. This stylist is Neha Dawar. Although she is currently completing her fashion degree at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, she has already began to make headway as she has designed many single pieces for several entertainers and has even created her own attire for when she dances.
Yes people, Neha also dances. She is a Kathak dancer. Kathak dancing became a part of her life as her family is from India and wanted her to embrace cultural aspects of the land of her ancestors. In the process she has become an amazing dancer. Successful people keep moving and it’s certain that Neha will keep advancing. She plans on finishing her degree, designing for wide spectrum of people such as entertainers, artistes, to just name a few and forge a brand for herself and her work. What is this woman’s OMG moment? Neha stated that it was when she ditched her studies for degree in marketing to pursue her degree in fashion. She never realised that there were many people who had interest in fashion. I suggest that Neha’s thoughts were based on the sad fact that in the past, in Trinidad, persons pursuing a career within the arts were considered inferior as opposed to persons doing science who were considered smart and who alone would make a contribution to the country. Despite all, fashion styling is important because it represents who you are and who you want people to recognise you as.

Show It the Door We’ve all had the frustrating experience of going into another room to get something and then realizing... we’ve totally forgotten why we’re there. What’s happening, say scientists from Notre Dame University, is that the act of passing through the doorway serves as a cue (an “event model” in science-speak) to your brain, telling it that it’s finished with the immediate task and to move on to something else, freeing up space and energy for new memories. You can take advantage of this mechanism in order to help you “forget” more strategically: If you find yourself getting worked up about something while you’re preparing dinner, stop and exit the room. And if you happen to have an open-plan layout, keep on walking right out the front door (just come back in before the water boils and the pot overflows). But while distance running, biking and swimming can boost general mental wellness, these solitary, repetitive activities can be the worst thing when you’re dwelling on something specific and unchangeable. They can provide you with uninterrupted time to obsess, and that may reinforce negative thought patterns. During those times, consider seeking out physical activity that makes your brain work as hard as your body, like a class (Spinning, Zumba, Bikram or Ashtanga yoga), a group sport (community soccer, pickup basketball) or a team activity (rowing, a running group, a master’s swim team). You could also try going for a meditative run, in which you focus so intently on your breathing or the rhythm of your footsteps that your mind doesn’t have an opportunity to wander into a dark place. Head It Off With a Decoy When our brain insists on reminding us of that awful thing we said at the party last night, most of us react by suppressing the thought (and perhaps groaning). This often works, found British neuroscientists Roland Benoit and Michael Anderson, who used an MRI machine to trace the brain activity of people who were trying to forget something. In a study published in the journal Neuron, they explained that when we push a memory out of our head,
activity in the hippocampus, the region of the brain critical for remembering the past, is inhibited. However, there’s always the threat that the thought will pop up again... and again. Another trick that the scientists tested was thought substitution: Whenever you start rehashing the night, tell yourself instead to think about your vacation to Aruba, or reimagine every bite of a meal you enjoyed. Doing this will induce frenetic activity in the parts of the brain that need to work to retrieve memories and along the pathways to consciousness. The two thoughts will literally compete for your attention, so make the substitution memory engaging and pleasurable enough to win. Try The Lady Macbeth Method On It (With More Success) Decisive people have no idea how lucky they are to be spared the kind of secondguessing that can lead to sleeplessness, queasiness and general obsessiveness. But the rest of us now have a secret weapon against waffling: soap. Psychologists at the University of Michigan found that washing your hands with soap and water can help you stop questioning your judgment. The study authors explain that the act of washing up serves as a powerful metaphor of “cleaning the slate” and helps us mentally wipe away doubts and misgivings.

There are enough cell phones in use for almost half the people on Earth. They’ve opened communication and convenience to literally billions of people, but is that a problem? Here are four ways your cell phone could be dangerous. Texting While Driving In the summer of 2009, the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute released a headline-grabbing report showing that the act of writing a text message while behind the wheel is one of the most dangerous things a driver can do. That “How R U doing?” can make a car crash—or near crash—23 times more likely for drivers of large trucks and six times more likely for most motorists. A separate test by Car and Driver even suggested that texting while driving is more dangerous than drunken driving. What makes texting behind the wheel so dangerous? It’s pretty simple. Every second spent looking at a phone is one not spent looking at the road. The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute report says in the time it takes to write even a short text, a driver could travel the length of a football field without even once seeing the road. In his opening remarks on September 30, 2009, at the two-day Distracted Driving Summit, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said, “Distracted driving is a menace to society.” The federal government reports that almost 6,000 people died and a half million were injured in 2008 because of distracted drivers.
Diagnosing Cell Phone Elbow According to a report in the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, long hours spent on your cell phone might not only burn through your plan’s minutes—it could also lead to “cell phone elbow,” technically known as cubital tunnel syndrome. With nerve pressure and decreased blood flow, this condition leaves suffering talkers with aching, burning, numbness or tingling in the forearm and hand. Cell phone elbow is the second most common upper extremity nerve compression problem after the better known carpal tunnel syndrome, which causes similar pain and weakness in the wrists. The Cleveland Clinic says cubital tunnel syndrome can also be triggered by other actions like leaning on an elbow while driving or nonergonomic work desks. If cell phone elbow progresses, it could lead to weakness and difficulty opening jars.
Is a Link Between Cell Phones and Cancer for Real? In his first month as the new chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin announced he would begin an investigation into a possible link between mobile phones and cancer. “I’m reminded of this nation’s experience with cigarettes,” Sen. Harkin was quoted by Reuters news agency as saying. “Decades passed between the first warnings about smoking tobacco and the final definitive conclusion that cigarettes cause lung cancer.” The announcement of this investigation comes after years of warnings by advocacy groups. One of the most prominent of
these advocates for greater scrutiny of cell phones’ cancer risk is Devra Lee Davis, head of the department of environmental oncology at the University of Pittsburgh and author of The Secret History of the War on Cancer. “I don’t know that cell phones are dangerous. But I don’t know that they are safe,” she says. In 2007, Dr. Oz addressed the issue of cell phone safety on The Oprah Show, saying he practiced caution. “My personal belief, based on some data that shows that brain cells are affected by the cell phone ... [is] we may actually find some problems down the road,” he said. “I wouldn’t throw my cell phone away. I have one, but I think for a lot of us we ought to think at least about how much we’re on the cell phone.”

Ligaments connect the bones to one another, and a joint capsule surrounds the whole thing. It is filled with a natural lubricant called synovial fluid that helps the joint move smoothly. When you make the motion to crack your knuckles, the joint is pulled apart, expanding the capsule. This decreases the pressure inside the capsule, forcing gasses
dissolved in the synovial fluid to release into the space to equalize it. That rush of gas causes the pop! sound -- so satisfying to you, so annoying to everyone else in the room. It’s like popping the top on a can of soda. It takes about 30 minutes for the carbon dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen to dissolve back into the synovial fluid. That’s why you have to wait a while before you can get a second pop.

Vitamin-C, one of the powerful natural antioxidants, helps the body scavenge deleterious free radicals, one of the reasons for cancer development. It is an excellent source of health benefiting flavonoids such as ß-carotene, α-carotene, lutein, and zea-xanthin. It also contains a good amount of vitamin A. Together; these compounds help act as protective scavengers against oxygen-derived free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS) that play a role in aging, cancers and various disease processes.
Bitter melon stimulates easy digestion and peristalsis of food through the bowel until it is excreted from the body. Thus, helps in relieving indigestion and constipation problems. Al McGuire made the following statement once about basketball: “I don’t discuss basketball. I dictate basketball. I’m not interested in philosophy classes.” OMG magazine recently spoke to Jamal Spencer, a 21-year-old, Chaguanas native who has adopted the same outlook on basketball. He doesn’t discuss it. He dictates it. He etched his name on the court of basketball at Tranquility High School in form two at the height of six feet, six inches. After which he expanded his talent by learning the essential skills to accompany it via clubs such as Trailblazers, Rising Stars then at Brancho Academy and the Ministry of Sport’s ‘Sport School.’ With many days of toiling relentlessly at becoming the best he could at this sport, Jamal was selected as one of the 12 players for the team which participated in the 2013 Roman Perez basketball competition. The team did extremely well in the tournament, securing second place. Jamal also captured individual success as he won the ‘Dunk All Competition. He was also credited by the Ministry of Sport’s Sport School, obtaining the prize for the ‘Most Disciplined Player.’ As expected this talented young man has high ambitions. He wants to establish himself as the best forward centre by the age of 25. He also wants to take the Trinidad and Tobago national basketball team to new heights, by making it to the Olympics. Curious about Jamal’s life apart from basketball? He is a very accomplished drummer and is pursuing his education at the University of the Southern Caribbean in the field of computing. He also works as a part time bartender at the Carib Special Events department and Elmondo Signatures. As for Jamal’s OMG moment he excitedly told us it was at the International School of Port-of-Spain (ISPS) competition in 2009. “I got the ball, I went up to dunk and I misjudged the ring and I got stuck. I fell on my butt, the whole crowd and my teammates laughed at me.”

Kanye West charged in paparazzi attack Kanye West has been charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft for allegedly attacking a paparazzo at the Los Angeles Airport on July 19 ... TMZ has learned. Kanye went off on the photographer ... who dared to speak with him as he left the airport. The photographer went to the hospital and has filed a lawsuit. He hired Gloria Allred, who has said the attack left her client badly injured. Just days before the attack Kanye issued multiple warnings to the paparazzi NOT to speak to him.
23-year-old stabbed in London for his copy of GTA V The popularity of the latest game in the Grand Theft Auto series saw many a retail store decide to open at midnight last night. And gamers turned up in their thousands to purchase the game as soon as they could. However, not everyone made it home with their copy of GTA V, in fact one gamer ended up in hospital instead. A 23-year-old living in London purchased the game from his local supermarket, but was soon after hit with a brick and then stabbed. Whoever committed the crime took the game and left the man injured in the street. The police were called and thankfully the victim is now stable and recovering in hospital.
Although no one has been charged with the crime yet, the police have multiple suspects and hopefully will be able to identify the individual, or even the group, who carried it out. Injuring someone just to get hold of a new game is ludicrous, but clearly some people who can’t afford it will go to extremes to secure their copy. Hopefully this isn’t held up as an example of video games causing real world violence. It could have just as easily been another high-profile product release and midnight opening, such as when certain smartphones or tablets launch, that kicked off the violence. In this case it just happened to be a game. We wish the man a speedy recovery and access to a TV and PS3/Xbox 360 from his hospital bed to get some serious GTA V game time logged.

Those seizures and health scare two years ago has caused Rick Ross to transform his health. Ricky Rozay has been losing a lot of weight since last year and has so far dropped close to 100 pounds. Sources inside the MMG camp told Urban Islandz
that Rozay dropped the weight by eating healthy and regular exercise. “Eating healthier, you know cutting out the fry chicken and the fatty foods and working out a couple times per week,” the source said. Rick Ross had multiple seizures in 2011 that sent him to the hospital while on tour. The Maybach Music Group honcho blamed lack of sleep for the seizures.
Boob-shaped weights from Ukraine supposedly heading to sporting goods stores in October The next dimension in bro fitness has arrived. A Ukrainian ad agency is producing boob-shaped weights for an October launch in sporting goods stores, according to Ads of the World. "Sports equipment for real men, who think about women all the time even when the iron is held in the hands," reads the copy on the ad platform site. The Kiev-based 306 Creative Communication Agency logo is printed on the bottom of the weights.
According to 306's Facebook page, the anticipation has been building. In an August entry, the agency posted a picture of the kettlebell-style breast replicas and wrote, "Trial casting was successful! Opened preorders!" The weights come in small, medium and large and look like they've been hanging out in a cold gym. We reached out to 306 to confirm that the so-called "Bob-boobs" are the real deal. What's next -- vagina weightlifting? Oh wait, that already exists. UPDATE: 306 reports back that fitness clubs and retailers have been very receptive. The 16-kilogram model will sell for $375, the 24-kilogram for $435 and 32-kilogram for $495.

the crowd, security quickly came to her rescue and what did she do? She just jumped right back up and continued singing, without missing a beat! But what’s even more impressive than Beyoncé not missing a single note was the fact that as security was trying to escort the fan out, she stopped them to introduce herself to him! As she shook his hand, she said, “Nice to meet you. Thank you, I love you too.” This isn’t the first time that one of Queen Bey’s fans got a little too eager to get close to the superstar – let’s not forget that whole booty touching incident. Arnold Schwarzenegger rumoured to join ‘Avatar 2 as the bad guy by Damon Houx
It’s been almost 20 years since Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron last worked together on 1994’s ‘True Lies,’ so we’d be overjoyed to the see the duo paired together again. The latest rumour hints at just that, as supposedly Arnie will join Cameron’s ‘Avatar 2‘ as the bad guy. This comes from Latino Review, and it’s a big one. Though it seems audience’s affection for Pandora and its Na’vi inhabitants have cooled some, ‘Avatar’ is still the highest grossing film of all time, and the addition of Schwarzenegger should stoke some curiosity. The production can also make great hay with Schwarzenegger returning to playing a bad
guy for Cameron, as both became famous for their work together on ‘The Terminator,’ while Schwarzenegger hasn’t played an antagonist since then. This is also a good move for the Austrian bodybuilder turned movie star turned Governor turned back into an actor again. Schwarzenegger’s action antics wore out their box office welcome about 10 years ago (when he moved into politics), but his absence didn’t make audiences any fonder for his work. Earlier this year he starred in ‘The Last Stand,’ which grossed a measly $12 million stateside, while it’s hard to say if his teaming up with Sylvester Stallone in ‘Escape Plan‘ will suffer a similar fate. This would be a high-profile gig and a welcome reunion for the director and star. ‘Avatar 2 is due out in December 2016, so they’ve got some time on this one.

A Guinness record for... twerking It seems that broader America’s fascination with twerking hasn’t faded away just yet. According to Billboard, New Orleans bounce artist Big Freedia is prepping a particularly popping attempt at a Guinness world record. The attempt will be taped by Fuse in promotion for “Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce,” a forthcoming show on the network. On Sept. 25, over 250 dancers will twerk for two minutes at Manhattan’s Herald Square. The full name for the important event is “Record Breaking Booty Shaking: Break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® Twerk Record with Big Freedia.” Freedia has slammed Miley Cyrus attempts at doing the dance, telling Fuse, “It’s become offensive to a lot of people who’ve been twerking and shaking their asses for years,
