A Nose for Death!
The Black Rhino is going extinct because of the European hunters, who are responsible for the early decline of the Black Rhino. It is not uncommon for five or six rhinos to be
killed a day them for food or their horns. European settlers that arrived in Africa in the early 20th century to colonize and establish farms, houses, and plantation
A lot of people regarded Rhinos as vermin and exterminate the Black Rhinos at all costs. Today people kill Black Rhinos are mainly killed for their horns. Now you may wonder what the horns are used for. They are used for ceremonial knife handles. The species overall is classified as critically endangered. One species, the western black rhinoceros was declared extinct. Why can’t these poachers use something different for their knife handles? An adult Black Rhino stands 52 to 71 inches high at
the shoulders, and is 2.8 to 3.8 meters in length plus a tail of about 24 inches in length. Both the black and white rhinoceros are actually grey. They are different not in color in lip shape. The black rhino has a pointy upper lip. Black Rhinos feed at night and during the gloaming hours of dawn and dusk. Under the hot African sun and take cover in the shade. The black rhino once roamed most of sub-saharan Africa. Today the black rhino is on the verge of extinction.

Forest fires are bad for the habitat. Forest fires have lots of effects to our life. Wildfire is deadly, dangerous, and is harmful to human health because of the pollution. Animals in small ponds are affected by warmer water, dirty water, and post-fire ash. That can interfere with a development that can make oxygen decrease. The animals can get very injured and might die. After the fire there are us. Some positive effects forest fires. Ashes from the fire add nutrients
to the soil in the ground that can make the plants grow
faster. From the fire, new areas to the forest are exposed to light helping different types of plants to grow and attract animals. During forest fires for all the animals that live in tress now have to find a new shelter because the fire and also affect the food chain which may have another effect on people Animals run away from the
fire, come into our environment, which can now affect us. Forest fires affect humans as well. Forest fire spreads which can affect nearby towns. Carbon monoxide also comes from a lot of forest fires which can produce acid rain. People that create forest fires spread very quickly. They can clear up
to 4 million to 5 million acres. Another positive affect is renewing plants with diseases and harmful
insects. Fires create heavy smog that is harmful to
humans and wild life. Natural resources are used
up such as water. And remember; only you can prevent forest fires.
Remember, only you can prevent forest fires.
Floods Floods occur worldwide. Floods cause damage to the landscape, and erode soil. Floods get into homes and can affect the people in the home and items in the home. Trees caught in flooding are often injured. When trees reach a tolerance level, the tree
begins to loose oxygen. A tree standing in flood waters for a long period of time may die from rotting or death from the root system. There are many reasons why floods occur. One reason is a large amount of rainfall. From the large amount of rainfall, rivers or
streams may start to overflow. There are both negative and positive effects. Floods have an impact dry land and are good for plants.

GASP! Have you ever been somewhere where you can’t breathe? There are many places throughout the country and the rest of the world that suffer from bad air quality such as Bakersfield, California, Visalia, CA, and Los Angeles CA. However, not all parts of California suffer from this problem. Some cities such as Anaheim, California have been able to maintain a good air quality. China also suffers from terrible air quality, however some cities in the country such as Sanya, Guilin, Kunming, Lhasa, and Xiamen, are able to maintain good air quality. Their nation as a whole is known worldwide for its horrendous air quality however.
higher risk of becoming ill after inhaling dangerous chemicals. Pollutants that make it to the upper atmosphere increase the number of people with skin cancer and eye problems. This is due to damage it causes to the atmosphere, hindering its natural ability to protect us from the sun in this way. This is just one way it damages the environment. Another way these pollutants put the environment in
This shows that each individual place may have a different air quality than how it is known, like Anaheim, California, and a number of cities throughout China.
What can bad air quality do to you? Many bad things can come of breathing toxic air. Breathing polluted air can make you very sick depending on what chemicals you inhale and how much of them you inhale. Some chemicals can make it just slightly harder to breathe, while others can be so dangerous that just a small amount can be extremely bad for your lungs and respiratory system. Thirty million Americans suffer from asthma. Asthma is a respiratory problem that affects the lungs and makes it more difficult to breathe. These people are at
danger is it replaces water in the water cycle, creating acid rain. Acid rain is also problematic in the environment because it further pollutes water and sickens animals. In this unfortunate series of events, poor air quality has damaged the ecosystem in many ways.
What Pollutes the air? Two chemicals that pollute the air are called benzene and vinyl chloride. These can cause many severe medical problems such as cancer, birth defects, and long-term injury to the lungs. Also well as brain and nerve damage. Many other chemicals cause damage in other ways. Some chemicals do as little damage as making your breathing heavy
and causing a headache, while other can cause thing as severe as cancer, permanent damage, and in severe cases, death.
because without doing them, you are endangering our air. In conclusion, it is very easy to help improve air quality. *** "Learn About the Air." United States Environmental ProtectionAgency. What can we do to reduce air pollution? There are many things we can do such as conserving energy, recycle, wash clothes with warm or cold water instead of hot water, planting deciduous trees, testing your home for radon and try to save gasoline. There are many ways you can do these things. For example; conserving energy could be as simple as turning out the lights when you leave a room. Recycling is easy because all it takes is being committed to setting paper, plastic, and glass aside in order to assure they are recycled and not just simply thrown away. Washing your clothes with warm or cold water is also incredibly easy. Planting deciduous trees involves planting trees that have leaves that fall off when the weather gets cold. Testing your home for radon is also a simple task that requires testing your home for a few days with a special device. Radon is a dangerous gas that can seep into your home and other buildings from underground. Saving gasoline is probably the least complex of all of these ways to reduce air pollution and better air quality. All this requires is planning trips in order to make sure that you are efficient enough to travel places directly instead of going out of your way. These things are important to do

WHAT IS FOOD POISNING You can avoid food poisoning by some simple tasks. Some of the simple tasks are washing your hands before and after working with food or eating. The most common food poisoning is salmonella. You can end up with salmonella if you don’t take food safety seriously. There is a list from A-Z of food poisoning because food safety is not taken seriously. Always clean fruit and vegetables before eating, even if you grow your own vegetables. AVOIDING FOOD POISNING
Out every 1 in 6 people get sick with a food borne illness. One of those people could be YOU. Here are some simple tasks to reduce your chances of getting a food borne illness. 1) Make sure any raw food is cooked all the way. 2) Refrigerate all foods at correct temperature so bacteria does not grow. 3) Make sure raw foods are separated from all fruits and vegies. Also, keep any kind of poultry or molding foods refrigerated below 40 degrees or 0 degrees in the freezer. This food borne illness is samonella
Stay Healthy, eat right!!!
Is your plate clean? Have you ever wondered what you were eating off of? Was your plate really clean? Because your plate can have a lot of bacteria and you could not even know! Whenever you are cooking anything raw it can make you sick. Make sure you wash the plate thoroughly. Some meat that you have could carry a food borne illness and if you keep it on a plate and do not wash it you could get yourself into some deep trouble so think before you eat!
http://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsis/topics/food.org - W. Wiley
What are you eating? If you live near a lake or a river or have ever been a flood throw away food you think damaged! If it has come in contact with flood water throw it away! Water can carry all kinds of bacteria do not take any chances. Concealed containers may
be closed, but it needs to be sanitized and inspected. Whenever you are in a situation think before you eat! It is always better to be safe, rather that sorry. Don’t test When your food begins to raw never taste the food to determine if it is good or not, you are risking your safety. See what the temperature is. If you are ever in doubt cook your food a little longer! ***

Spinning Energy
What is a Windmill? Have you ever thought about the world running out of energy? That is the purpose of windmills. A windmill is a structure or machine that converts wind into usable energy. These powerful machines produce 15 times more electricity than a typical turbine can. The first windmills were developed in 2000 BC in China and Persia. The United States currently has 61,110 megawatt of installed wind project capacity, containing 5.7% of total installed electric generating capacity. In 2012, the Shepherds Flat wind project became the largest online wind project in the United States (845 megawatts), breaking the record previously held by the Roscoe Wind Farm (781.5 megawatts).
Facts about Windmills Did you know that a single wind turbine could power 500 homes? That’s how powerful these are. There is so much on shore wind in America to power the country ten times over. I say that’s pretty amazing! Most wind energy comes from turbines that can be as tall as 20 story buildings and have three 200foot-long blades. Wind is a clean source of renewable energy that produces no air or water pollution. Since the wind is free, operational costs are nearly zero once a wind turbine is erected. Mass production and technology advances are making turbines cheaper and many governments offer tax incentives to spur wind energy development.
Windmill History The first windmills we’re developed to automate the tasks of grain grinding and water pumping. The earliest known windmill design dates back 500900 A.D in Persia.

Complaints Some people think that wind turbines are unattractive and noisy. The rotating blades can kill bats and birds, but not nearly as many as cars, high-rise buildings, and power lines do. The wind is also variable: if wind is not blowing any electricity is generated. Nevertheless, the wind energy industry is booming. Globally, wind generation has quadrupled between 2000 and 2006. Development is booming in Germany, followed by Spain, then the United States, India, Denmark, France, and China. Renewable energy is becoming increasingly
