FALL 2017

An Alumni-filled Summer! Reminiscing at Alumni Reunion 2017 On July 11, nearly 30 Alumni joined us at Central Bistro in Boston for a great night of catching up with old friends. Alumni reunited with their fellow Scholars as well as former Steppingstone staff members, and reflected on Steppingstone memories while browsing through photos in old yearbooks.

A special thank you to Steppingstone Alumnus Dean Ebozue ’04 who spoke about the importance of staying connected to Steppingstone and giving back to the next generation of Scholars. Dean also shared about his new hat company, Hyde Park Pride, which you can learn more about on his website: https://www.hydeparkpride.com. We are grateful to all of you who were able to take time to attend. We hope to see you all next year!

Discovering Careers in Law On July 17, Steppingstone hosted a career panel with internationally-renowned law firm Ropes & Gray LLP, bringing together current Scholars and Alumni to learn more about careers in law. Panelists included lawyers from a variety of law practices–prosecutors, defense attorneys, and litigators–who discussed their career paths, including coursework suggestions and internship opportunities. Thank you to Steppingstone Alumna, Joanne Jacquet Araujo ’98, who participated as a panelist, sharing her experience as an Assistant District Attorney with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Stay connected with Steppingstone on the “Alum Steppingstone” Facebook page to receive updates about future career panel opportunities! If your company might be interested in hosting an industry career panel for Steppingstone Scholars and Alumni, please contact Ashley Goliti-Chase at agoliti@tsf.org.

Thank You! Alumni donations last year surpassed a record breaking $5,000! We’re proud to have such a generous Alumni community and couldn’t be more grateful for everything you give back to Steppingstone. We hope you’ll consider making another gift this year. Every dollar donated by Alumni matters, and no gift is too small to make a difference. In the first half of 2017, Steppingstone received gifts from the following Alumni*:

Welcoming Scholars Home On August 12, Steppingstone Alumna Miranda Haymon ’05 addressed the Steppingstone Class of 2017 at this year’s Commencement Ceremony. Joined by her mother in the audience, Miranda shared this bit of wisdom: “J.K. Rowling has said about the world of Harry Potter she created, ‘Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.’ I think this quote is apt in this moment if we make a little adjustment: Scholars, Steppingstone will always be there to welcome you home. If you ask for it, the Steppingstone community will be there each and every single moment after today to welcome you back home.” We couldn’t agree more, Miranda.
