Athletics Training with GB’s Cyle Carty
On Saturday 10 May, 16 of our best athletes had the extraordinary opportunity of training with Cyle Carty, a Team GB Athlete. The girls started the session with an intense warm-up. After this, they were introduced to using Speed Gates, which measure how fast you go over a specific distance. Sadly the weather prevented the session from moving outside, but nonetheless the girls enjoyed a fantastic session on the Hurdles which is one of Cyle's main disciplines. The next technique studied was High Jump and many girls made excellent progress in both technique and height, beating their personal best by a substantial amount. The final part of the session saw students practise their relay change-overs. Here the girls gained a better understanding of the 4 x 100m and the importance of acceleration zones and change techniques. It was an incredibly successful and productive session, which will no doubt help the girls achieve great things in track and field this summer.
