Spectacular Arts Festival

The St George's Arts Festival on Thursday 25 June invited parents and guests to enjoy the artistic skills of the pupils across the whole school.

Sports Day The annual St George's Sports Day recently took place on Friday 12 June. All girls and staff that took part and were determined to be the winning House this year.

The girls organised their own drama performances and fashion show with an art exhibition, and drama and dance in the Sue Cormack Hall.

Valedictory Service Music for a and Prize Giving Summer Evening Pupils, staff and parents celebrated the fantastic achievements of the girls at the end of term on Thursday 2 July at the annual Upper Sixth Valedictory Service and Prize Giving ceremony.

On Tuesday 30 June, the annual Music for a Summer Evening concert took place in the Sue Cormack Hall.

The concert featured the Chapel Choir, solo singers and solo musicians, with a special song for departing staff and pupils at the end of term. For more information and photographs please go to page 11.

Valedictory Service and Prize Giving 2015 Prior to the annual Prize Giving ceremony, the Upper Sixth pupils, staff and parents enjoyed the Valedictory Service in Chapel.

During the service, the Chapel Choir and guests sang hymns before listening to readings from Head Girl, Hannah Palmer and Deputy Head Girl, Emily Dominey.

Mrs Dourountakis, Head of Sixth Form spoke about the girls and wished them every success in their journey after St George's.

A candle was lit on behalf of the girls leaving St George's. Each candle serves as a memory of good times and lights the way before them.

Pupils, staff and parents celebrated the many achievements of the girls at the end of term on Thursday 2 July at the annual Prize Giving ceremony.

With thanks to Isabel Oakeshott, Political Journalist and Commentator for being our guest of honour and speaking memorably about her life experiences.

Awards included subject academic awards, academic prizes, Sixth Form diplomas, scholarships and progress prizes with Anna Blackburn awarded the new Dourountakis Cup, Jade Agnew presented with the Spirit of St George Award and Suzanne Pritchard receiving the Citizenship Award.

Summer Awards 2015 On Wednesday 1 July, the Summer Awards took place to celebrate the girls who have received awards as part of their extra curricular activities and for recent events at St George's.

Awards included LAMDA certificates, ABRSM music awards, RAD Ballet, Duke of Edinburgh awards, House Tennis, House Quiz, and individual effort and achievement cups. Ambassador awards were also presented to staff and pupils who have gone over and above their duties at school to help others and raise money for charity.

Academic

Second and Third Year Girls compete in Maths Challenge Junior Maths Challenge First and Second Year pupils in the top sets took part in the Junior Maths Challenge which is run by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust.

The Junior Challenge is open to pupils in England and Wales and involved answering 25 multiple choice questions, in one hour at school, under exam conditions.

Mock General Election In the lead up to the General Election, Lower Sixth Politics students represented the five main political parties and took part in a mock debate and election in Chapel over three days. The students listed below represented the following political parties: Conservative Party – Lottie Hughes The Labour Party – Rebecca Oratokhai The Liberal Democrat – Carima Mahmood UKIP – Emma Sedgwick The Green Party – Stephanie Okojie The candidates explained why fellow pupils and staff should vote for their party in a hustings session, before debating topical issues and answering challenging questions posed by both pupils and staff.

Pupils and staff then voted in a mock email election. Congratulations to Lottie Hughes who represented the Conservative Party, who won both the pupil and staff vote.

Religious Studies Canterbury trip The Second Year spent the weekend of Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 June in Canterbury with Mrs Magill and Dr Tieanu to explore the historic city.

Canterbury is steeped in religious culture and history. The girls began their adventures at the Roman Museum where they learnt about the Roman history of the city and saw the original foundations of the original town and hillfront Durovernum Cantiacorum.

They then visited Canterbury Cathedral, which is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England, and the Mother Church of the Church of England.

The weather was warm and sunny and everyone enjoyed a picnic in the Cathedral grounds before going to the Cathedral education centre. In the evening they went to the Marlowe Theatre to see 'Barnham', an exhilarating musical with actors flying over the audience and performing circus tricks amongst everyone.

Accommodation for everyone was provided by the University of Kent with meals and comfortable bedrooms.

On the Sunday, they enjoyed a river tour on the River Stour and learnt about it's history from a humorous guide.

History and Modern Foreign Languages Normandy During 'Activities Week', Miss Jackson, Mme Burrows, Dr Tieanu and Miss McCann accompanied Third Year girls to Normandy from Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 June.

The girls met and were given talks by British Commando veterans who were part of the No.47 Royal Marine Commando formation.

The Commando was formed in August 1943 by Winston Churchill, a past pupil at St George's. As part of their first operation in June 1944, they were involved in 'Operation Neptune', the Normandy Landings now termed as D-Day. They succeeded against their Nazi opponents and liberated Port en Bessin during the Second World War.

Vocabulary website competition

Quizlet competition Earlier this year all pupils were invited to join Quizlet, a vocabulary Winners interactive website. Since then, pupils have been using and sharing lists of vocabulary to revise, using flashcards to test their knowledge, hear the Seniors Terms KS3-KS4 correct pronunciation of words and play revision games.

Classics

Chedworth Villa

Cirencester trip On Thursday 11 June, the Classics Department arranged for the whole of the Second Year to visit Chedworth Villa and the Corinium Museum in Cirencester.

The Chedworth Roman Villa was first occupied in the second century AD, with gradual extensions until the fourth century. Rediscovered in 1864, it has been owned and cared for by the National Trust since 1924.

The girls spent the morning at the villa where they enjoyed a guided tour. In the afternoon they visited the Corinium Museum which houses a variety of archeological and social history objects, before completing a questionnaire about the Romans’ occupation of Britain.

Both visits helped the girls with project work and enhanced their knowledge and appreciation of British heritage.

Geography

Settlement Study The Geography department took First Year pupils to Windsor on Tuesday 9 June as part of their studies on 'settlements'.

Girls were divided into groups to complete a question sheet on the topic. They visited residential areas as well as the town centre.

Windsor began as a Saxon village. The name Windsor is believed to originate from the Saxon words 'windlass Oran' meaning a bank with a windlass. After the Saxons founded the settlement it grew into a town because of its position by a river. The Thames was an important artery between London and the heart of England.

By the time of the Domesday book (1086) Windsor was a small town and most probably had a population of only a few hundred.

William the Conqueror took Windsor as his own property with a royal palace already in the town. Windsor was near a forest where the king could also go hunting, which made it a particularly attractive proposition.

The original settlement was at Old Windsor but William built a castle on an escarpment at Clewer. Windsor Castle would have a large staff of defenders and servants and provided a market for the townspeople. Soon the townspeople began to move to be nearer to the castle and a new settlement grew up around it.

At first Windsor Castle was made of wood but in the 12th century it was rebuilt in stone. The castle was strengthened and improved

by Henry II (1154-1189) and Henry III (1216-1272).

Visits

Ski Trip 2015

On Saturday 28 March 2015, twelve pupils departed for a Skiing trip to Folgaria, Italy.

Mrs Simpson and Miss Jackson accompanied the girls to ski on the quiet slopes where the snow conditions were perfect, with sunshine throughout their stay and the party had almost the whole resort to themselves.

For the majority of the visit the girls had skiing lessons plus evening activities including a quiz, ice skating, going to the cinema and ski awards to recognise the progress they had made on the slopes.

The girls also visited Verona where they saw the Juliet Balcony and also uncovered the shops, cafes and sightseeing attractions.

Third Year girls, Henrietta Loughlin and Alice Hayward, have recently returned from an exciting exchange trip in Australia.

The girls attended a term at St Catherine's School, Toorak, Melbourne, enjoyed a trip to the Outback, walking over Sydney Harbour Bridge and visiting wildlife parks with their families.

Henrietta and Alice departed from the UK on Saturday 24 January and returned to St George's on Monday 6 April accompanied by their Australian friends.

Henrietta Loughlin had Issy Binstead staying with her family, whilst Australian exchange student Annabel Joubert stayed with Alice Hayward and her family. Issy and Annabel joined Henrietta and Alice at St George's for the Summer Term.

The girls gave a memorable assembly to the whole school at the end of term, talking about their adventures.

GCSE Art Exhibition The GCSE Art Exhibition was showcased in the South Lawn Room earlier this term. The mix of art, sculpture and textiles was extremely colourful and attracted much comment and admiration.

The AS piece was developed with the use of acrylic paint on canvas.

Drop in workshops in London Miss Moore, our Resident Art Tutor will be holding free of charge drop-in drawing workshops on the first Sunday of every month at the Wallace Collection in London from 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm. The workshops are for all ages and abilities.

Miss Moore's own work explores how spaces and places affect our lives. Her work takes the form of prints, paintings and wooden sculptures.

'The Little Draw' workshops will include drawings as a tool to learn more about the objects and paintings in the Wallace Collection.

Music for a Summer Evening On Tuesday 30 June, the annual Music for a Summer Evening concert took place in the Sue Cormack Hall.

The concert began with the Chapel Choir singing 'Collect of St George', followed by Darcy Coop's melodic performance of 'Hallelujah'.

Parents enjoy refreshments prior to Darcy Coop singing the concert 'Hallelujah' Issy Binsted performed a stunning violin solo 'Prelude' by Hubert Leonard.

A special mention goes to Emma Streatfeild and the Jazz Band for their sensitive performance of 'Every Time We Say Goodbye ' to celebrate the staff and pupils who will be leaving St George's at the end of term.

This year's concert was enjoyed by all and was a superb way for the girls and staff leaving St George's to end on a high.

Junior Summer Concert On Wednesday 13 May, the Junior Concert took place in the Chapel.

The concert began with a melodic piano solo,'Calypso Joe', by Julia Cherry followed by Susie Jeffrey's sensitive performance of 'The Sunflower'.

Issy Binsted, who is one of the Australian exchange students, Sahsa Lemon and Ruby Carty-Din's performed a stunning violin solo 'Sonata in E Minor '. violin performance 'Little Dance ' A special mention goes to Ruby Carty-Din and Sasha Lemon for performing their violin duet 'Little Dance ' having learnt to play the song and their own parts independently, before joining together for the first time that very morning!

Some of the girls who performed for parents and pupils had never performed in front of an audience before. Well done to all of the girls who took part; it was a very enjoyable Junior Concert.

Drama GCSE rehearsals On Monday 20 April, the GCSE Drama rehearsals took place in preparation for the examinations that evening.

The performances included 'Please don't take my baby' by Grace Garde, Caroline Phillips, Holly Fanning, Georgiena Woodward and Imogen Sandford which depicted how children are taken away from mothers throughout time to the present day.

All of the girls gave 100% effort in the rehearsals, so well done girls for all of your hard work and good luck for your examination results.

The Odyssey On Monday 8 June, the Second year play 'The Odyssey' took place.

Odysseus, played by Sophie Griffin and Isabella Stanford-Harris, went on his journey home after the fall of Troy. The story takes Odysseus ten years to reach Ithaca after the ten-year Trojan War. In his absence, it is assumed he has died, and his wife Penelope, played by Olivia Bromilow, must deal with a group of unruly suitors who compete for Penelope's hand in marriage.

A great thank you to all of the girls on stage and behind the scenes, as well as Mrs Gregan for directing the play and Mr Pearn for technical assistance.

Arts Festival

The very first St George's Arts Festival took place on Thursday 25 June.

The event celebrated the creative and performing arts of St George's and showcased the girls artistic skills.

Upon arrival, parents enjoyed refreshments whilst viewing the Art Exhibition on display in the South Lawn Room and were then taken to the Sue Cormack Hall for music, drama and dance performances, as well as a colourful fashion show featuring the girls' textiles creations.

The evening was a great success and is sure to be an annual event going forward.

On Thursday 7 May 2015, the Jazz and Dance Show took place in the Sue Cormack Hall.

The evening began with Yookyung Lee singing 'Hallelujah' and Darcy Coop singing 'Frozen' accompanied by The Jazz Band.

Highlights included a beautiful pas de deux en pointe ballet performance by Lily Caines and Sasha Lemon. A modern dance performance of 'Show Me How to Burlesque' by Zoe Scott, Lemonia Koutsabeloulis, Yookyung Lee, Essy Dafinone and Moe Kishima was extremely lively and energetic. First Years, Amy Selwyn and Katie Rigby, choreographed and performed 'Elastic Heart'.

The show concluded with the Jazz Band playing 'Every time we say goodbye' sung by Emma Streatfeild.

Congratulations to all of the girls who took part in the show, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Dance and Jazz spectacular!

Headmistress awards commendations for outstanding effort Headmistress Commendations Mrs Owens awards Headmistress Commendation to girls every week who have excelled at a subject or an activity within school.

Over 60 girls have been awarded a commendation during the Summer Term. Congratulations to all of the girls for this excellent achievement.

Form Captains and Deputy Captains New Form Captains and Deputy Captains announced The First to Fourth Year Form Captains and Deputy Form Captains were voted in by their peers for the Summer Term.

It is an important role to fulfil, as each girl will canvas the views of her Form Group and feed these into the School Council meetings.

The girls will also play a lead role in Form Group planning and events.

Boarding Head of Boarding Houses The annual election for the Boarding Head of House positions took place earlier this year at St George’s.

The Head of House's principal responsibilities include ensuring that the House and the girls work effectively to fulfil their potential in a caring and enjoyable environment. The chosen girl is a key figure for their House and also for the girls within it and serves as a direct link between the girls and the staff. The Head of House also ensures that the House is represented at all whole school events.

Each candidate gave a talk to all members of their House and House staff as to what they could bring to the House, which was followed by an election.

Congratulations to Libby Cloete in Markham House, Sanmi Toyobo in Knatchbull House and Orezina Sonoiki who will represent Loveday House, for being elected by their fellow pupils and the House staff as the new Heads of House.

Boarding Fun The boarders from Markham House have had lots of fun this term on a riverboat cruise in Windsor, making vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, creating their own mood boards depicting what they would like to attract into their lives, going ten-pin bowling, weekly tea and chat sessions in their common room, attending social events at school and also visiting Sunningdale School to play tennis and enjoy a barbecue.

House Quiz 2015

The four teams battled it out to become House Quiz champions

On Wednesday 1 July, the annual House Quiz took place.

All four houses were represented by a Junior contestant, Senior contestant and a House Captain. The girls answered ten rounds of general knowledge questions, which included fast buzzer rounds and questions directed to each House in turn.

To conclude the quiz, 'the almost impossible question' was opened up to all girls and staff in the audience. A music clip was played backwards, with one of the girls from the audience correctly identifying it from 'Les Miserables'.

Well done to all of the girls who took part including winning House, Darwin. Thank you to Mr Naeem for being the quizmaster and to Mr Lee, Miss Fontes, Miss Lofthouse and Mr Pearn for their help with the fun event!

On Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 June, the House Tennis took place to mark the end of the year.

All four Houses were represented by players seeking the highest number of points overall. First to Third Year girls competed against each other on Monday 29 June, with all of the effort and enthusiasm needed to win. On the second day, Fourth to Upper Sixth Year girls contended fiercely against each other.

St George's Day Celebrations To celebrate St George’s Day on Thursday 23 April, a service was held in the Chapel which included a reading and prayers from Rev J Sistig and hymns sung by pupils, staff and the School Choir.

The celebrations concluded with the traditional Georgian Gallop around the School playing fields. Well done to everyone who took part and congratulations to the Upper Sixth Becket House team for being the fastest team at 6.57 minutes to complete a lap of the school field track.

Many staff participated including Mrs Owens, Mrs Dourountakis, Mrs Simpson, Mr Cornish, Mrs Wood, Mr Rhodes in his cricket kit, Mrs Farmer, Mrs Dorey, Mr Lee, Miss Johnson, Miss Cartlidge, Mrs Lightwood, Miss Bridge, Mr Cameron and running supremo Mrs Anderson and her team Miss McCann, Mrs Gregan and Mr Wilson who achieved the fastest staff lap at 8.04 minutes.

Pupils awarded places in the National Youth Music Theatre National Youth Musical Theatre We are very proud to announce that Fourth Year pupil, Lily Caines and Upper Sixth student Anna Blackburn have both been awarded a place in the National Youth Music Theatre.

The National Youth Music Theatre was founded in 1976 and offers exceptional opportunities in preprofessional, musical theatre training for talented young people aged 11 to 23 years old, through skills workshops, master classes and residential courses led by industry professionals. Alumnae include actress Sheridan Smith, actors Matt Lucas, Jude Law and Nigel Harman, with Andrew Lloyd Webber describing it as "The best youth music theatre in the world".

Following a recommendation that Lily apply for the place from her teachers at St George's, Lily attended three auditions before being sent the superb news via email. She has been cast in a production of Pendragon which will be performed at the Royal Theatre, Bury St Edmunds in August 2015.

Lily currently attends Redroofs Theatre School, Maidenhead, Berkshire every Saturday and also ballet and singing clubs in and outside of school.

Upper Sixth Form student Anna, who applied two years ago, explains the audition process "The audition day itself consists of two sections. You have workshops in the morning along with the other auditionees, in your chosen location with in a group of around 40 people. The workshops are led by professionals who assess you throughout. Then in the afternoon you have a single audition with one of the professionals. They usually take roughly two people from each audition location".

Anna attended weekend stage school Stagecoach as an extra activity when she was young, and has had lead roles in five Eton plays. She enjoys ballet dancing and plays the piano and clarinet.

Lily's and Anna's passion for performing has shone through in their work at St George's and they should both be very proud of their fantastic achievements. We look forward to seeing them both in the West End in the future!

Pupil presents farming manifesto to members of Parliament Leading up to the General Election, Lower Sixth pupil, Victoria Rayner, presented the National Farmers' Union 2015 general election manifesto to Home Secretary, Theresa May at Stubbings Farm, in Maidenhead, Berkshire (pictured right) and also to Conservative candidate for Runnymede and Weybridge, Philip Hammond at Hardwick Court Farm.

Open Morning On Saturday 25 April, our Open Morning was a great success with 68 families coming to visit the School and enjoy tours whilst fun lessons took place.

Thank you to all of the girls and staff who helped on the day.

Chess Champion First Year Laura Davidson recently visited Daventry to play chess in the National Chess League on Saturday 2 May and Sunday 3 May. On Monday 4 May she played in the National School’s Mega Final at LVS school in Ascot where she won all her six games and was awarded the title of Suprema for the Berkshire region.

Girls meet to discuss school topics On Monday 27 April, the regular School Council Meeting was timings of the school day, locker sizes, ring binders and questions about the mobile phone policy and a possible new swimsuit held at school. design.

Colour run for charity

Second Year charity run On Monday 22 June, the Second Year organised a charity run to raise money for the chosen charities that the school are raising money for this year.

Staff and fellow pupils spent 50p on a coloured balloon water bomb to throw at the Second Year as they ran around the school playing fields. The girls raised over £500 for charity so very well done to you all.

Overall, this year the school has raised a fantastic £3,500 for its nominated charities.

The Big Chop On Wednesday 1 July, Mrs Jackson, History teacher at St George’s, cut 10 inches off her hair, to donate it to be made into wigs for children who have been diagnosed with cancer, or any other disease that causes hair loss, including alopecia.

On Friday 19 June, Charlotte Griffin also cut 11 inches off her hair which will also be sent off to raise money for charity.

School videos for new website Girls star in their own Hollywood movie!

Mrs Lightwood, Director of Admissions and Marketing recently organised a two-day video shoot in preparation for the new St George's website which will be going live in the Autumn Term.

The girls starred in their own movie which showcased their skills and attitude to learning. They took part with great enthusiasm and we can't wait to see the end result!

Joint Head Girls Lottie Hughes and Caitlin McArthur also filmed their own school video, an alternative day in the life at St George's, which will be showcased in September.

Duke of Edinburgh Award Presentation and Practice Expedition On Thursday 30 April, expedition provider Sam Sykes gave both parents and pupils a presentation explaining the nature and purpose of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

This was a great opportunity to find out more about the Award first-hand and to learn about all the benefits that the Award has to offer.

During the March exeat weekend, Bronze and Silver practice expeditions took place with Mr Moran in The Brecon Beacons National Park and Ashdown Forest. The girls undertook the real expedition challenges in June with much enthusiasm.

The Bronze Award girls learnt about map reading and camp craft under the supervision of their instructors. Bronze Award pupil, Libby Cloete comments "There is a great sense of teamwork involved. I wanted to participate in DofE because it is a new opportunity for me and is something different to learn and experience."

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, Brecon Beacons National Park

Gardening Club Girls help to plant seeds in and around the school Dr Tieanu, History teacher at St George's, runs a super gardening club open to all pupils every Wednesday in and around the school, to help the girls learn about plants and grow their own flowers from seed.

Staff have donated leftover pots, seeds and other useful gardening items to the club.

State School Partnership Science Day St George's held a Science Day on Thursday 7 May, as part of the education partnership, with three local state schools.

The aim of the initiative is to share resources, ideas and good practice that will benefit the students in all schools involved. We are very pleased to be working with Connaught Junior School in Bagshot, Whitegrove Primary School in Warfield and Collingwood College in Camberley.

Mr Rhodes hosted a fun Science afternoon at St George's for Whitegrove Primary School pupils, who enjoyed activities including exploring the inside of a bio-dome, which immerses the children in a digital 360 degree dome showing different environments and natural history shows.

Other activities on the day included a hands-on Biology experiment looking at the creation of DNA necklaces and an interactive Chemistry experiment exploring rainbow fizz.

The pupils very much enjoyed the day and also the delicious lunch. Thank you Mr Rhodes and the Science Department for a great experience.

Exam Advice

Exam Advice from Elevate Education On Thursday 19 March, Elevate Education gave the Upper Sixth girls a talk about examinations titled 'The Finish Line'.

Elevate Education use young presenters, whom the pupils can relate to, give advice, short, sharp sessions throughout the year and seminars to provide practical skills for pupils.

The girls asked questions and Elevate ran through a clear and effective system for revision. Revision notes, time management, practice examinations and motivation were the key topics of the advice given.

The girls found the talk very useful and plan to use some of the techniques discussed.

Lower Sixth Enrichment Days

Career and Leadership Programme On Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 June, the Lower Sixth girls enjoyed a two day career and leadership programme. We were privileged to have the company of 13 very accomplished and distinguished individuals who discussed various career opportunities and the elements needed to become successful strong leaders.

The programme was intensive and the girls were fortunate to hear some very moving personal accounts about the power of positive thinking and overcoming obstacles in life. St George's Sixth Form students were able to understand that success comes to those who have a positive attitude and the resilience to forge on with their dreams and ambitions. Planning and setting goals is essential. A resonating message was to realise ones strength and to be happy with oneself.

Additionally, girls were made aware of the variety of career opportunities available to them in medicine, the military, law, education, fitness, commerce and the creative arts. They were encouraged to seek and secure work placements early and never to forget the importance of forging strong relationships with people.

Thank you to all our speakers who so generously gave up their time to speak to the girls. Their support in the activities of the school is hugely appreciated.

Business experience for Lower Sixth Young Enterprise Annual Awards Mr Cameron and the Lower Sixth girls attended the Young Enterprise County Finals earlier this year.

Young Enterprise is a not-for-profit enterprise and financial education charity in England & Wales. Young Enterprise's mission statement is "To inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise."

The St George's girls presented their product and business 'BAY Bottles and You', gave a four minute presentation to the judges, provided a written company report and were interviewed at their trade stand.

The girls were runners up in a very strong field. The experience of the business world has been invaluable to the girls. Thank you to Mr Cameron for organising the initiative.

On Friday 26 June, the St George's Sports Awards took place in the Sue Cormack Hall.

Sports Awards 2015 Parents enjoyed a reception drink before sitting down to celebrate the sporting achievements of their daughters.

The guest of honour, Sophia Candappa, is a current member of the England Netball Team and gave an inspirational speech to the girls.

She explained that she started in a school netball team, just like the St George's team, and had dreams of becoming a professional player one day. Sophia played for the county and gradually built up her portfolio and skills, and, after a lot of determination, was accepted onto the England team.

Sophia plays for the Hertfordshire Mavericks team and is still a member of the England team. A true inspiration to the girls.

Sports Day 2015

On Friday 12 June, St George's Sports Day took place. With a fierce competitive atmosphere, the four houses were determined to be the champions this year.

All of the girls that took part gave 100% in their events. The highest scorers for each year group were Adrienne Silvano in the First Year, Ellie Pusey in Second Year, Olivia Aluko in Third Year, Ella Davis in Fourth Year and Octavia Mason as the highest senior scorer.

Sports Day 2015

Third Year pupil Catherine Lee broke the record for the 100m distance race at 14.4 seconds. Well done Catherine!

Churchill House received the Athletic Cup, Mr Lee, Head of English, won the staff race and congratulations to Mrs Lemon and Mr Sedgwick for winning the parents' races.

Sporting Highlights

Ascot Schools Rounders Tournament The U16 St George's rounders team entered the Ascot Schools Rounders Competition against St Mary's and The Marist schools.

Ascot Athletics Tournament On Tuesday 5 May, St George's girls took part in the U12, U13, U14 and U15 Ascot Athletics Tournament.

The first match was against The Marist and it was very close throughout both innings. The second game versus St Mary's began with the first six girls scoring a rounder each and everyone worked well as a team.

The schools that took part included St Mary's, Charters, LVS, Heathfield and The Marist. The tournament was a competitive event with immense enthusiasm from the girls and spectators alike.

St George's were the overall winners of the competition. Well done to all girls who participated!
