SPORT AT ST GEORGE’S Sport is an integral part of school life at St George’s. Our aim is to enable all pupils to see the value in sport and physical activity through experiencing a broad and balanced Sports programme. Through curriculum and co-curricular provision at St George’s we support all individuals to help them reach their full potential and develop a lifelong learning of physical activity.

enable a vast array of enrichment in order for pupils to fully realise the value of sport in their everyday lives and the opportunities it can bring, whilst also instilling and developing the important life skills of teamwork, organisation, determination and resilience. These include sports leadership, sports tours and trips, fixtures and tournaments, our sports celebration evening, and House sport competitions.

We also want our pupils to experience all aspects of sport whilst at St Georges. We

CURRICULUM Physical Education lessons at St George’s provide every pupil an inclusive, fun and active environment. Not only can this spark an interest and enthusiasm for sport, but also teaches the girls about healthy active lifestyles and to foster habits for lifelong participation in physical activity.

Our expert staff also deliver GCSE and A Level Physical Education. These rigorous and varied curricula provide interested students the opportunity to combine their talent and passion for sport alongside developing theoretical knowledge of sports science topics, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Sports Psychology and Socio-cultural concepts. Such a provision leads to opportunities to perform up to national level. Specialist coaches also support the delivery of sport at St Georges. SGA SPORTS PREFECT As Sports Prefect I act as a role model to the other girls, inspiring and encouraging them to participate in the wide range of sports St George’s has to offer. It provides me with an excellent opportunity to get to know the younger girls and form friendships across years groups which is a key element of life at St George’s.

The environment within the sports department at St George’s is extremely supportive and welcoming to girls of all capabilities and this ensures that there is a place for every girl within the department, which I believe is one of the many things that sets St George’s apart.
