Nowadays however, this job can be quite lucrative wherein some stylists earn £7,000 a day or approximately more than $11,000.00 daily. After all, if a stylist can create a look that becomes an instant hit in the fashion world (even in entertainment and politics),
it can produce that
much needed buzz to elevate either a fashion house; designer, brand, model, celebrity, royalty, etc. and help boost one’s career and business – especially in today’s digital age.

Can you tell us something about yourself on a more personal level? I love yoga, traveling, and the beach - as much as I love fashion. I see fashion as art, so sometimes, just being in the presence of dreamy clothes is as fulfilling as getting to wear them. Who is AMY LU as a fashion stylist? I am aware of trends but not consumed by them and I am generally more inspired by experiences and people than by runways. I see fashion as a very easy and accessible form of selfexpression and love helping people clearly communicate what they want to show the world about themselves through clothing.
When did you finally know that being a fashion stylist was what you wanted to be and what drives you to excel in your profession? How are you able to take your craft to the next level? I have always been a fashion stylist - I just didn’t realize that it was a profession until my early twenties. I love clothes and I love helping people better understand themselves through clothes. Helping people feel beautiful is incredibly rewarding and I am blessed to be able to do that. In terms of taking my career to the next level‌who knows; I love the idea of working on a project with a bigger platform like a style book or television show. I also day dream about collaborating with a label to create something spectacular!

What do you think is your trademark as a stylist? I am not sure I have a trademark per se, but people have told me that I go above and beyond with every look which is enormously flattering. I approach every editorial as a story and the model as a character in the story. I put lots of time and effort into researching references that will bring the wardrobe to another level. What is the perks of your profession? I love all of the interesting people I come into contact with; sharing moments and experiences are what make life grand.

Fashion What was your first project as a Fashion Stylist and how was that experience like?
Is there a particular individual that you would like to have as a client? Who would that be and why?
I knew that I was in my element from the moment I started. I was excited, not nervous, and I didn’t want the day to end.
From an editorial perspective, I would absolutely love to collaborate with Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and Mert and Marcus. I am a fan of their work and continue to be inspired by their vision. I would die to style Bjork or Kate Moss. I lived in London when Kate was still up and coming as a model and Bjork was everywhere. Fashion Obviously the process is catered to each person and specific to each project; however I think about who the person is and what they want to project. Then I think about how I can portray that using my fashion sensibility without compromising the vision of the story.

If there was “one look” that you would like to be remembered for, what would it be? Oh gosh....really? I have no idea.... I have lots more I’d like to do before I can make that call. What do you think is your greatest achievement, thus far? I can’t think of one specific achievement, but I can say that nothing is more rewarding than seeing a person’s confidence grow because of style. I have had the honour and privilege to style so many people from in front and behind the scenes, and helping people feel beautiful is a pretty fabulous feeling to have.

Personal level... what you see is what you get. Cliché as it sounds... I just like being up front about things. It saves time in general. Other than that, I love beauty in all things so it’s kind of my lifelong mission to experience as much of it as possible. Who is Raffy Tesoroas a fashion stylist? I’m more of a couture sorta guy. I love detail work; embroidery, beading, etc. It’s more challenging and the end result tends to be more fantastic.
When did you finally know that being a fashion stylist was what you wanted to be and what drives you to excel in your profession? How are you able to take your craft to the next level? Truthfully...I can’t really remember. I started really young since my mom is a fashion designer and I sort of fell into it as one of the aspects of my job(s). I do love the whole ritual of clothing and its importance in society! That’s what drives me to keep on going. I use art as an educational medium to keep people thinking. What do you think is your trademark as a stylist? Detail. Not necessarily that everything has to be busy or complex... but rather, that every aspect was thought out. I like to think that a well conceptualized idea tends to bring out the best for the artist and the audience.

My mom. She can make any kind of fabric or cut look good and she does it with absolute ease. I have to bear in mind though that she does have 40 years of experience to make it look that easy. Top 5 fashion must-have that everyone should own. I think every woman should have: A.) A little black dress. Always classy and it never goes out of style. B.) Awesome shoes. Shoes always finish a look. C.) Proper grooming. It’s not just about the clothes but how you look with them. You are the frame that the clothes sit on after all.
D.) A good life. We can put the best styles on you but if you wear your worries it’ll show anyway. E.) Perfume. Look good, smell good. It completes the package. Your tips, tricks and tools when it comes to styling. Every stylist should have a basic kit. This kit should have: scissors, needles, threads in basic colors, pins, hairpins, safety pins, masking tape, double sided tape, paper clamps in varying sizes, glue gun, razor, baby powder and black pentel pen. Most of them have pretty obvious uses... though I use the baby powder to lighten stains on white fabrics during a shoot. Black pentel can be used to cover tears in black ones when used with masking tape or to erase scratches on certain dark surfaces.

Fantasy. I love doing fantasy styles ranging from cosplay to avant-garde. It’s much more challenging and satisfying to complete.
Perseverance and Education go hand in hand. You have to have the will to go on and the ability to do it. Perseverance answers to the first and Education to the second.
What do you think is your greatest achievement, thus far? Building my own commercial grade photography studio (smiles). It’s called Edifice Studios and it’s an art hub that caters not just to photography but also to everything else that is related to the art industry.

I make my own clothes and sets for shoots so I’d like to see a more intense melding. It’s all about creating more and more believable worlds for the viewer. What advice do you have for those who wish to also become Fashion Stylists? There’s a lot more choices out there but also a lot more competition. If you want to stand out, don’t be afraid to take risks and make some edgy choices from time to time. Listen to your clients but also develop your own style as well. It’s really about knowing how to find balance in everything you do.

It was obviously quite a nerve-racking experience because everyone from the photographer to the designer expected you to deliver with flying colours. Yet the biggest obstacle has always been me. If you look at the runways this past couple of seasons, fashion designers have their own trends. It’s very different from one another. Those designers have a strong band of loyal followers which allows them not to easily be swayed by trends. I think we have almost reached the maturity level in which people expresses themselves more as individuals rather than comply with a certain trend. Top 5 fashion must-have that everyone should own. You only need one – confidence. Your tips, tricks and tools when it comes to styling. Learn the rules by heart, try to break them and then make your own rules. Don’t forget to bring a pouch full of styling kits: safety pins, clips, and wax stick (for zips).

Nicola Formichetti is my choice! He is half-Japanese, half-Italian; so naturally it’s a mix of East meets West - high fashion meets streetwear. Not really. I would like to be a fashion stylist more than a personal stylist. Of course I won’t refuse it if there would be offers and opportunities for that. I make use of descriptive words such as sexy, pure, rock, etc…..I have to find what fits for a certain shoot/project/model and create a style using descriptive words. Exclusive Interview Michelle Mousel Tell us something about yourself or describe yourself I’m a chameleon. I adapt to every situation in life and aim to be as dynamic as possible. For instance, I’m a model and dancer who seeks to be an intellectual who partakes in some considerably dangerous activities such as martial arts and weaponry.
What got you into modeling and why do you love your craft? I got into it to prove people wrong - that I could succeed at my goals. I also stayed in it (modeling) for the freedom; travel, lifestyle and for the people that I meet.
What inspires you to model?
How would you sum up your experience as a working model in China? How is it different from modeling all over the US? It’s incredibly different! The best way to describe it is that it’s 100% opposite from the U.S. in nearly every aspect. Living and working there quickly taught me the rules of business, money and negotiating... the hard way. As unfortunate as it was at the time, now I cannot be swindled!
As a model, what was your most memorable outfit? I did a show in China for jewelry and I would say that the accessories were the most memorable. I was wearing an ensemble of diamond earrings, necklaces and rings worth more than some people’s houses. My jewelry had its own security guards!

“It’s more than what I ever imagined! I never thought it would shape how I view the world and interact with people.” As a model, what are your beauty essentials?
If you are not a model, what would you be instead and why?
Having a fresh face is most important to me, so I use mascara only on my top lashes to bring out my eyes; ChapStick to slightly color and even out the skin tone of my lips, and a small amount of organic moisturizer on the contours of my cheekbones to create a radiant, dewy glow.
I’m certain I would still be in the entertainment industry somehow. If I wasn’t destined to be a model I would be an art director. It’s too difficult for me to decide between which I would enjoy more: photography, styling, makeup... I would rather encompass it all and be an art director!
If you could work with anyone, who would you want to work with in a heartbeat and why? Photgrapher Craig McDean. His work is the epitome of high fashion and he’s shot some of my favorite supermodels. Shooting with him would surely solidify my career.
Is modeling what you thought it would be or is it totally different from what you had imagined? It’s more than what I ever imagined! I never thought it would shape how I view the world and interact with people. I could never revert back to a lifestyle before modeling.
Apart from modeling, what are your other passions? Martial arts. My boyfriend got me interested in self-defense and teaches me Jiu-Jitsu. I haven’t looked back since!
Are there any issues or causes that you feel strongly about? Do you do any charity or volunteer work - or are you a part of any organization or group? I’m very concerned about the healthcare system in America, and I am working with a telemedicine company aiming to revolutionize the healthcare system and provide instant access to citizens everywhere! We woul like to end this edition with a beautiful poem by our Ghost Poet
to give way to its own rhythm. It relies on the sharps and sharpness of words, to reach the highs. It buries itself under the flat bed of the throat, freed only when resisting the urge to keep the voice box—or heart—still. The meaning of a poem is left to the curious or the brave, who will meet a certain death—and feel more alive—at the end, when it discovers the message.
