Background Waikato Milking Systems have been a partner of the SmartTrade Rewards Programme for over eight years. In this time, the partnership has grown to become an exclusive point of difference that is well entrenched in the New Zealand market. There is also an exclusive arrangement that extends to Waikato Milking Systems Dealers providing the platform to reward their Farming customers with points; leveraging off the relationship SmartTrade has with Waikato Milking Systems Head Office and accessing the power of the SmartTrade coalition of programme partners. The ordinary programme entrance fee has been waived for Dealers, who enjoy a programme Cost of Sale of 1.75% (for standard points issue); 1% in reward going to Farmers on all eligible spend with a 0.75% management fee paid to Smart Loyalty NZ (the company behind the SmartTrade rewards programme. The admin Cost of Sale is heavily discounted from our standard 1% enjoyed by the majority of Smart Loyalty’s 1200 partners across Australasia. The programme was originally embraced to reward Dealers for paying on time and also for rewarding Farmers for their spend with the Dealers. The programme certainly achieved its goals and we are now excited to deploy the next stage of the programme where we will release a number of new initiatives.

Waikato Milking Systems - 2017 Programme Plan Going Forward From the 1st of April 2017 we enter a new phase with the programme where Waikato Milking Systems and SmartTrade will engage in seasonal promotions. Dealers will now have more opportunities to earn points on a selection of consumable products and will still attract the same reward offers on existing capital purchases. The key new developments exists around the encouragement of Dealers to use a portion of the points issued by Waikato Milking Systems to run promotions (see below).

What does this mean? 1.

Waikato Milking Systems will run two campaigns minimum per year to all Dealers offering bulk

and bonus points for sales targets being reached; certain products will attract much larger points

offers than the standard one point per dollar. See calendar for details to when these campaigns will

take place (Not applicable on any discounted product).

The points earned can also be used to fund in-store activities.

FAQ’s What do your customers receive from SmartTrade? When a customer is added to the programme by your business, they are sent a Launch Pack letting them know what the programme is about and how they can earn rewards. Also included in the launch pack are details on earning easy points as highlighted in this document. They also receive a personalised online account to provide 24/7 access to their points. Twice a year they receive glossy Rewards Catalogues filled with fantastic products they can redeem using their points. SmartTrade also sends out two hardcopy Points Statements per year showing how many points they have earned and from who, plus 12 emails per year with their points balance. Your customers will also be able to login to the SmartTrade website at any time to check this information or redeem their points for rewards. SmartTrade constantly engages your customers with programme updates and reward specials. 2017 will also see the launch of the customer APP enabling online access on the go How can I see how my customers are doing in the programme? SmartTrade provides each Dealer with a unique dashboard accessed via the “My Account” tab; simply login using your email address and password. These reports show your customers points balances, their points earning history and their redemption history. The more engaged a customer is with the programme, the more you can influence their purchasing behaviours. This will soon also be available via an APP. What is the process and cost to add a new customer to the programme? To add a customer simply email the details to info@smartloyalty.co.nz or login to “My Account” on the website and use the “Add Customer” form online. All customer additions are encouraged and added at no cost. Which customers are eligible? All customers are eligible, however you decide which customers to invite. This can be based on current pricing and/ or discount structures that your customers may be on as well as taking into account other factors such as volume and type of account. SmartTrade is a great way to acknowledge important customers and another reason for them to purchase from you. What is the cost of the programme for my business? The Cost of Sale is 1.75%, therefore, when you are quoting for work you need to factor this cost in especially if this is for a customer you would like to invite to participate in the programme. This only gets paid out if the account is paid current. What is the Cost of Sale for promotions? When offering double points the reward cost goes to 2%. The admin cost remains the same, giving a total Cost of Sale of 2.75%. Do I have to offer points as one of my two promotions? No, you could make a prize available (purchased from points) where your customers go in the draw to win. However, you are encouraged to offer points so all customers benefit, not just one. The prize offer should be used in conjunction with a points offer.
