The ATENZA has proven to be a very popular vehicle to import second hand from Japan. Long story short – both NZ new and second-hand Japanese Domestic market vehicles are desirable, have a strong residual value and are in our market in good numbers. It is fair to assume that many MAZDA6/ ATENZA would have travelled reasonable km’s within their time on the New Zealand and/or Japanese roads. If your customers MAZDA6/ATENZA has done high km’s and is showing signs of engine wear then do consider offering a Genuine Factory Short Block. Repowering with a brand new Genuine Factory Service Build is a viable option and carries a 12 month 20,000km warranty. (Conditions apply)

Automotive Heavy Engineering Apprentice Streets Ahead Growing up, Beau Curtis had a heavy interest in trucks, cars and all things mechanical. Not entirely satisfied in his previous job and looking for a change, he decided to take up a role as an Automotive Heavy Engineering apprentice with Truck Stops, Whangarei, to see if it was a good fit – and he hasn’t looked back.

(Automotive Heavy Engineering) (Level
3 & 4) in just two years - half the time it would usually take to complete!
It’s a phenomenal achievement for the unassuming MITO learner and one that’s not lost on Branch Manager
Steve Hawkins. “Beau is an extremely dedicated and competent individual,”
says Steve. “He’s one hundred percent focused on the objectives he wants to

over a year,” Beau jokes. “But I’m loving what I’m doing so it doesn’t make it
hard to do! And I’ve received incredible
support from Truck Stops and my MITO Industry Training Advisor to help me achieve my goal.”
Having now completed his first formal qualification, Beau is aware of what it could do for his career. “I’d definitely
recommend getting a qualification as it really develops your skills and greatly increases your opportunities. It could potentially take me anywhere.”
It’s the variety of the job that Beau
particularly enjoys. “Fixing things that are broken along with the wide range of tasks you get to do, means every
day can be different,” he says. And it’s
the standard of those repairs that is so important says his manager. “I think
for any business it’s vital to train and
employ qualified people,” says Steve. “Especially in this industry where it
keeps the repairs and maintenance of these commercial vehicles to an extremely high standard.”
Looking towards the future, Beau is
keen to further his abilities with more on-the job training and has some simple advice for others who are
considering progressing their careers
with a qualification. “Aim high because anything is possible!”
They’re obviously words that this highflying apprentice takes to heart.
A National Certificate in Motor Industry (Automotive Heavy Engineering) (Level 3 & 4) takes approximately three to four and a half years to complete. Big fields set for Mahindra North Island Endurance Series The 2016 Mahindra North Island Endurance Series is promising to be the best yet, with early indications being that each round will feature capacity grids in the three hour events.
This year the series started in Taupo on 4 June, moves to Hampton Downs for round two on 25 June and then to
Manfeild on 23 July for the series finale. The starting procedure for each race in the series will also be the same as the recent
national final, with a controlled in-line start at racing speeds for
the first corners of lap one to mitigate the risk of early damage or incidents.
“This is a drivers series and we want to discourage first lap
heroes who will end up wrecking their race, their car and those of their fellow competitors around them. It’s an endurance
race and we want everyone to be able to make a good fist
of it, hence we want to reduce the risk of any pointless early contact,” explained series CEO Kel McBeath.

How many staff do you have in the business? There are 9 staff with years of experience in the accident repairs industry. The team has had the opportunity to gain significant experience and knowledge, which in turn helps us to provide our customers with guaranteed quality assurance. What sets you apart from your competitors? As the owner/operator I think it really benefits the business that I deal directly with the customers. Also living up to our motto which is “turn problems into solutions”. How influential are points to your purchasing decisions?
