Tenant Led Inspection Report

New flats at Balfron

Stirling Council is continuing to add to its existing housing stock, either buying properties direct from developers or building their own houses. There are 12 properties at Wallace Crescent in Plean which are due to be completed in October. They comprise of 6 x 1 bedroom cottage flats, 2 x 2 bedroom cottage flats, 2 x 2 bedroom bungalows and 2 x 3 bedroom semi detached houses. There are several other developments currently on site, which are due to be completed during this financial year (2015/16), including: 10 properties at Main Street and Burns Terrace, Cowie; 1 wheelchairaccessible bungalow in Drymen; 6 bungalows at Cultenhove Crescent, St Ninians; 4x1-bed bungalows at Edward Avenue, Riverside; 8 properties at Norrieston Glebe, Thornhill; and 8 cottage flats at the site of the former Riverside Pool in Stirling. Cllr Violet Weir said “the new house building programme continues to deliver on our commitment to increase the supply of affordable housing and will provide high quality accommodation to our tenants for many years to come”. The development of 5 properties, including 1 wheelchair-accessible property, at Firs Crescent, Bannockburn, has recently started on site. The first phase of a 20-unit development at Highland Gate, Kildean and 5 units at Polmaise Farm, Cambusbarron, are on site and due to be completed in this financial year. Both of these will be purchased directly from the developers. With the end of the Right to Buy on 1st of August 2016, our programme of new builds will result in an ongoing increase in our total housing stock.

We are happy to report that the latest Tenant Led Inspection Report on New Builds has been presented to the Housing Advisory Group (group comprising of tenants, council officers and Elected Members). The findings and recommendations made by the group are now available on the Stirling Council website, under the tenant participation section . If you would like to see a copy of the report, please contact meldrume@ stirling.gov.uk.
