Information
Dear St. Louis County residents, St. Louis County is a great place to live, work and raise a family. One of the highlights of the County is our dedicated green spaces. Our St. Louis County Parks and Recreation staff work hard year-round to keep our parks beautiful. Spring and Summer offer some of the best views in St. Louis County thanks to the diligent efforts of Parks staff, while also offering a wide variety of programming to enhance your experience. Our Parks and Recreation team offers a wide array of Summer activities, including numerous camps to keep children engaged during their Summer break from school. Food Truck Fests will continue through the Summer and into September at various parks around the County. And once again, we welcome you to celebrate America with us at JB Blast on Friday, July 2 at Jefferson Barracks Park. Featuring an evening of live music and a brilliant fireworks display, this event is perfect for all ages and free to enjoy. In an effort to protect public health, we will be following all public health guidelines. Program sizes will be limited and safety measures put in place. Visit www. stlcountyparks.com for program updates. St. Louis County offers over 70 park destinations, each with their own character and ambience. There’s sure to be one near you — maybe even one you’ve always meant to explore! I hope you will join my family and me as we enjoy the amenities and activities at our St. Louis County parks this Spring and Summer.
Events and programs listed in this guide are subject to change based on updated recommendations and guidelines provided by the St. Louis County Department of Public Health. Programs may be heavily modified or canceled, and limited in capacity. The online Activity Guide will be updated periodically to reflect changes. For further information call (314) 615-4FUN or email parks@ stlouisco.com anytime Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that the Art Fair typically attracts thousands of people to the park, the event will be held online to help protect the health and safety of all. Stay tuned for events later this year that will allow us to gather at the park on a smaller scale! By shopping the Online Art Fair, you will be supporting local, regional and national artists who have also had a tough year financially sustaining their practices. Seventy percent of sales will go directly to the artists, with thirty percent to the Laumeier not-for-profit foundation. 200 Years of the Citizen Soldiers of Missouri
The Future is Present: Art and Global Change
March 6 – December 30, 2021
February 6 – May 9, 2021
Since the time of the Louisiana Purchase, citizen soldiers of Missouri, be it in militia or National Guard formations, have been giving their all for their fellow Americans. To commemorate the bicentennial of the State of Missouri, this exhibit will look back on how Missourians have served their State and their Nation in war and peace. Guided tours must be scheduled in advance and require an additional fee. The exhibit can be seen at Jefferson Barracks’ Old Ordnance Room at 546 Bagby Road.
The Future is Present: Art and Global Change is a group exhibition that explores the ingenuity of artists and their commitment to addressing the most pressing issues to humankind: climate change, environmental crisis and related global repercussions. Technology’s role in climate change measure and reversal will be reflected in artists’ use of multimedia and new technologies, ranging from video and sound to virtual/augmented reality. Simultaneously, humankind’s impact on the planet through consumption and waste will be mirrored in artistic uses of upcycled supplies and materials. The history staff at Faust Park offers a variety of educational programs and guided tours for all ages and abilities. Our most popular program is the four-hour “Farmsteading at Thornhill”. Many students call this their favorite field trip despite the fact that they are performing physical chores expected of a 19th century child. Fall registration begins after March 1 and spring registration begins after August 1; rates and descriptions are available on our website. For more information or to schedule field trips and tours, call (314) 615-8336 or email TEmmons@stlouisco. com.

The Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park (Kraus House) is a unique and significant residence designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, widely considered the greatest American architect. Wright designed the house for Russell and Ruth Kraus in 1951, the first of only five Wright-designed properties in Missouri. The Kraus House is an excellent example of Wright’s democratic vision, intended to provide middle-class Americans with beautiful architecture at an affordable cost. The home is notable for its architectural integrityand original Wright-designed furnishings and fabrics. With a floor plan composed of two intersecting parallelograms, it is considered one of Wright’s most geometrically complex homes. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its significance in American architecture.
