Living Our Faith
What does it mean to be a disciple? In today’s gospel, Jesus outlines the requirements for his apostles. It wasn’t an easy road for them to follow. And it isn’t an easy road for us to follow today. We live in a world where sacrifice is deemed unnecessary and suffering is considered inhumane. We have self-indulgent conveniences and legal remedies available to us everywhere… to make sure that we can receive all that society tells us that we deserve. But what did Jesus deserve in today’s gospel? And what does he deserve from us now? Are we the followers who end up leaving him when things got rough? Or are we the apostles who remained with him? Do we remain comfortable and go along with the crowd? Or do we answer his call when he asks us to pick up our crosses and follow him to salvation? June 19, 2016

AS SUMMER SETS IN, ST. LOUIS FARM GETS HOT!
Let's get together and do something about it. Our Summer next Work Day will be June 25th! We will be planting summer crops - cucumbers, melons, and squash. We'll work from 8am-12pm to beat the heat and breakfast and drinks will be provided -- it's a great opportunity to meet fellow farmers, see what's growing, and help us in our mission to provide fresh produce to the food pantry! Come find out what we're all about!
Viviendo Nuestra Fe

The borders on our regular weekend envelopes are changing from red to blue, beginning in July. They’ll have a new picture that looks better with the new royal blue color! We’re also tired of “seeing red” so hope you agree that the new royal blue is a great improvement! Thanks to your continued generosity through your tithes and offerings, we’re no longer operating “in the red” and the blue is symbolic of the blue skies ahead for St. Louis Parish! PARISH
MISSIONARY APPEAL JUNE 18-19 | Annually the
Diocese of Austin asks each parish to host a Missionary, not only to raise awareness about missionary work around the world, but to offer us the opportunity to reach beyond our borders and support the greater Church. Our assigned missionary speaker this year is from Theotokos, a Texas based, non-profit charitable organization that was created in 1987 and is committed to assisting in the care and education of the less privileged children in Bolivia. Our weekend speaker will be a Sister from the Servants of the Lord Dominican Sisters, presently active in Bolivia and Argentina. Three of the Dominican Sisters from Bolivia have also been working in the Annunciation Maternity Home for Unwed Mothers in Georgetown, Texas, for the last few years. Thank you for giving them your attention during the weekend of June 18-19 and supporting their efforts!
ON JUNE 25-26, OUR DIOCESE WILL TAKE UP THE PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION, which provides Pope
Francis with the funds he needs to carry out his charitable works around the world. The proceeds benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression and disasters. Join our Holy Father as a witness of charity to those who are suffering.
DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET | During the Year of Mercy,
we invite you to join us in praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet and selected prayers from the Diary of St. Faustina every Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. This is a beautiful way to offer up your time and incorporate this devotional as part of your prayer discipline. Bring your rosary and come join your fellow parishioners as we unite ourselves in prayer with our Holy Father.
