Living Our Faith
Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount is quite familiar. However, there may be few passages that are harder to believe in today’s society. All around us we see opportunistic and selfish behavior both encouraged and rewarded. Those who turn the other cheek and who focus on self-less actions are typically taken advantage of or cast aside. It’s important to remember, though, that this same behavior was present during biblical times. There were ambitious business owners, ruthless criminals, con artists, thugs, deceitful politicians, and other selfish persons who focused on obtaining the rewards of the world at any cost instead of the rewards of eternal life with God. Just as in biblical times, our inner motivations and attitudes today lead us on our path. It can often feel as though we are going against the grain of the world when we chose to act based on our Catholic faith over more secular actions. But if we keep Christ as our core and our strength, he will lead us and walk with us all the way to himself in heaven.

MASS FOR
ALL SOULS DAY MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND 7:00 PM MAIN CHURCH Parishioners are encouraged to bring photos of your deceased loved ones for this 7pm Mass. Tables will be set-up near the podiums where you can place your photos. The Pascal candles that burned at funeral Masses over the years will also be displayed as a reminder of the Light of Christ to which we are all called at death. Please join us in remembrance of those who have gone before us.
Viviendo Nuestra Fe

HANDS OF MERCY is the theme for this year’s annual Catholic Services Appeal for the Diocese of Austin. The CSA
kicks off November 7-8 and you are invited to bring your personalized CSA envelopes for the second collection that day. Envelopes will also be available in the pews. Your donation to the CSA is a powerful witness of God’s love. By contributing, you are helping those in need, promoting a culture of life, supporting religious vocations, reaching out to youth in campus ministries/youth programs, and bringing people to God through spirituality and worship. Please prayerfully consider what you might give to assist this important work of the Church of Central Texas. BEING CATHOLIC IN A MODERN AMERICA | Join us for our final session
THE HEALING SACRAMENT | The Sacrament of Healing
which includes the laying on of hands and anointing is offered every second Sunday of each month during the 9:00pm Compline service in the Chapel. Please join us Sunday, November 8th. Compline is the last liturgical office of the day and this meditative service, held each Sunday, includes beautiful Gregorian chants of the Church. be held Thanksgiving Day, November 26th, in Wozniak Hall from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Volunteers must pre-register in advance by going to www.signupgenius.com and click on the link for 12th Annual Feast of Giving. We are so grateful for your willingness to help, but unexpected walk-in volunteers add to the chaos of trying to serve hundreds in a brief three-hour period. Please assist us by telling us in advance that you will be there to help! NOVEMBER PUBLICATIONS DEADLINE | November
5th will be the deadline to send in your news items for the December-January edition of our monthly parish newsletter. Please look for the Heart of St. Louis Annual Appeal brochures and envelopes in the Church.
