As part of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, he was named a Missionary of Mercy of Pope Francis. A native of Long Island, NY, Fr. Bruce was ordained in 1973. He is past Director of Evangelization of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Fr. Bruce leads parish missions and retreats, and speaks at a variety of diocesan and regional conferences. He is fully bilingual and does presentations in both English and Spanish. “Responding to the Spirit in the Soul, in the Church and in the World” is one of his topics, as is the spirituality of St. Paul the Apostle. “The guts of the new evangelization is ‘Kerygma’, the proclamation of salvation, of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior,” Fr. Bruce said in 2014 during an all-day presentation for priests and parish leaders in the Diocese of Camden. “Evangelization helps people fall in love with God. In how we speak of Jesus, we can draw people to a love relationship with him,” he added. “We need people enthusiastic about being Catholic and willing to bring people to Christ.”

St. Louis Farm in your Lenten service - we'll be holding our annual Spring Work Day on Saturday, March 25 from 8 a.m.12 p.m. This gives you an opportunity to serve, and to help us get ready for the quickly approaching (and very productive!) summer months. We'll be preparing fields for planting and getting some new crops in the ground. Come when you can, and help as you're able -- thank you for helping us provide fresh vegetables to the St. Louis food pantry year-round. Please email stlouisfarmatx@gmail.com with any questions! YOUR LENTEN LIBRARY | For those of you who would
like to do additional Christian reading during Lent, brush up on the teachings of the Church, read about the saints and other Catholic leaders or maybe just listen to some beautiful Gregorian chant as we sit in Austin traffic - the parish library is the place for you! Browse through our shelves and find some wonderful treasures to contemplate as you wander through the desert of the next 40 days of Lent. Are you a young parent preparing your child for their First Penance or First Holy Communion? Your parish library has great children's books to help you and make it fun for the children. The library has several books on the Way of the Cross and on the Passion of Christ that may help you reach a deeper understanding of the suffering of Christ that we, as Christians, recall throughout our Lenten journey. We are here to help Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.; Mondays from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. until noon and 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. each week.

made 8 home visits during the week ending on February 7th. We helped 6 families with rent and 2 families with utilities. We also gave out several HEB cards, 2 store vouchers for clothing only, and some bus passes. One recent case was that of an older woman who has been confined to a wheel chair by multiple strokes. While she was waiting at a bus stop after attend Mass (at another parish), she was stabbed in the back by a stranger. Because her chair was motorized, she was able to return to the Church and obtain help. When we visited, she was asking for help with some of her medications. She was also asking for help replacing the batteries on her chair, which were soon to expire. Because of your support, we were able to provide $14 in help for her medications and also promised $200 to replace her chair batteries when needed. Our volunteers concluded their visit by praying with her.
