THE 2016-2017 CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL has
kicked off. Look for the Living Waters pledge cards in the Church and join us in pledging your support for the ministries that are so necessary for the Diocese of Austin. Even if you can’t pledge a monetary gift, we urge you to fill out a pledge, offering your prayers for the success of the appeal! Your prayer pledge will be counted as parish participation. Thank you for prayerfully discerning your CSA gift and supporting the Church of Central Texas! ANOINTING OF THE SICK will be offered this Sunday
(Nov. 13) during the 9:00pm Compline service in the Chapel. Compline is the last liturgical office of the day and this meditative service, held each Sunday, includes beautiful Gregorian chants of the Church. This is a wonderful prayerful way to end your weekend and prepare for the new week ahead. THANKSGIVING DAY MASS will be at 9:30am on
Thursday, November 24th. This will be the only Mass that day, eliminating the 12 noon and 6pm Masses for the holiday. (Confessions before those Masses will be cancelled as well.) Those attending are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and canned goods for distribution through the Food Pantry during December. THE PARISH ADVENT PENANCE SERVICES are early
this year…Thursday, December 1st! Mark your calendars for the 1:30pm and 7:00pm services in the sanctuary. The regularly scheduled 5:00pm confessions before 6:00pm Spanish Mass will not be held that Thursday only. We urge you to take advantage of these parish Penance Services where multiple priests from around Austin will be available as confessors. Deadline: Friday, November 18

men and women lived their lives according to Christ’s example. There are the apostles, the earliest group to teach and preach the Gospel, to show us how to live for Christ. Hebrews speaks of these saints, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith…” November is dedicated to the saints. Choose one saint and read of that person who followed the call to live a life for Christ. There are saints from the earliest centuries and there are saints of our time. A variety of books are available from the parish library to learn of these extraordinary individuals. 3

made 7 home visits during the week ending on 27 September. We helped 3 families with utility bills, 2 families with rent, 1 family with medications and 1 family with gas and household goods. One case was that of a bright, young man who had been released from a rehabilitation center two weeks ago and was now living in a group home. He has found a good job and had just started work 2 days prior to our visit. However, his rent is due now and his first check will not occur for two weeks. He is asking for help with his first month’s rent and even offered to repay it from his first check. Because of your support, we were able to pay $200 towards his rent. We also invited him to visit our food pantry and provided information on other possible sources of financial help. Our volunteers concluded their visit by praying with him. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL & EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF:
THE YEAR OF MERCY ENDS ON NOVEMBER 20, 2016,
the Feast of Christ the King. That will be the last Sunday that we will gather to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3:00 in the Chapel. During this Year of Mercy, we have gathered to pray the Chaplet weekly. We have prayed for our Holy Father, Pope Francis, and all of his intentions. We have prayed for Peace in the world, for the end of abortion, for the conversion of sinners, for all religious men and women, especially our priests at St. Louis, Father James, Father Alberto and Father David and all of our Deacons. We especially prayed for all the intentions of our St. Louis community. Please know that even though we will not be gathering every Sunday, the Divine Mercy Cenacles will continue to pray for all these intentions at our weekly prayer meetings. Thank you to everyone who faithfully joined us to pray this beautiful and powerful Chaplet of Divine Mercy every Sunday this past year. May God’s love and mercy continue to fill your hearts and the hearts of all of your loved ones. Please continue to pray the Chaplet daily. Our Lord awaits our prayers of thanksgiving and petition and is ready to grant us His unfathomable graces of love and mercy. Prayerfully yours, the Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy. TRAVELING VOCATIONS CHALICE PROGRAM TO BE LAUNCHED! To
encourage religious vocations, St. Louis Parish has launched this Chalice Program. Each Sunday an assigned family, couple or individual will come forward at the end of a specified Mass to receive the Vocations Chalice and a special prayer written to accompany it. In taking the chalice in behalf of our parish, the household commits to praying that week for the gift of priests, deacons, sisters and brothers in our Diocese. For more information or to sign up, please contact Catholic Vocations Advocates of Austin at CVAATX@gmail.com or Seminarian, Chris Yeager at chris.yeager@st-louis.org 7
