Enviro-energy Efficiency in Building Walls – Construction through Operation Priyanka Thareja, Priyavrat Thareja* Rayat Institute of Engineering & Information technology, Railmajra, Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar (Ropar), Punjab-144533, India

Abstract The recent boom in building construction activity calls for a stupendous availability of energy to manage maintenance of temperature, and embodied energy of materials for construction. This work makes a case for cautious planning to reduce energy misuse in both construction and good counsel in maintenance thereof. Various issues and options for energy-friendly infrastructure have been outlined. Arguing that the use of insulation is not effective, use of hollow bricks has been recommended and explored in terms of their freedom from mold and bacteria, humidity, and moisture. However, optimization of strategy and practices of construction are considered important, and subjects of much deeper consideration.

Abstract Master production scheduling (MPS) is a combinatorial optimization problem that arises frequently in real-life applications. Because of the complexity and the vast search space, conventional optimization methods such as mathematical programming, dynamic programming and branch-and-bound technique are computationally infeasible. Evolutionary approach-based meta-heuristics have gained prominence in recent years for solving multi-objective optimization problems (MOP). Multi-objective evolutionary approaches (MOEAs) have substantial success across a variety of real-world engineering applications. The present review attempts to provide a general overview of the work that has been done in the last two decades in MOEAs in line with MPS problems.

Improving Cycle Time Using Value Stream Mapping in Foundry Atul Sharma* Mechanical & Automobile Engineering Department, ASET, Amity University, Noida, India Abstract As competition between manufacturing industries tightens every day, there is need for continual improvement of process to increase productivity. Thus, there is urgency to improve the productivity of firms to sustain in global competitive market. There are wide ranges of opportunities in which one can enhance satisfaction growth of the firm. Reducing lead time by eliminating waste and thereby improving cycle time of a process is one of the areas of improvement that was identified. Present work is an effort to improve the Cycle Time by banishing waste, bottlenecks and redundancies using value stream mapping. The value stream mapping consists of defining the current state of the system and then using the principles of lean manufacturing and mapping an improved future system state.

Keywords: Cycle time, value stream mapping, lead time

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to capture viewpoints of green manufacturing which is one of the important inclinations of contemporary manufacturing. It introduces first the importance of this topic now followed by definitions, motivations, features, acceptability, linkages and issues associated with green manufacturing. It deals with the fundamental concepts that underlie the subject of green manufacturing, and defines key terms and makes critical distinctions. Finally, this paper proposes that the current focus for green manufacturing strategies should provide directions for its adoption and implementation. The existing knowledge base on green manufacturing is somewhat fragmented and relatively unexplored. This paper intends to contribute a set of understanding to capture the current state-of-the-art of this topic.

Keywords: Green, manufacturing, strategies
