존과 박, 그들은 10년지기 친구이자 동업자이다. 그들은 함께 괌으로 여행을 떠났다. John and Park, they had been friends for the last 10 years and are also co-workers. They went on a vacation to the Island of Guam.

괌으로 가는 비행기 안에서 헬멧을 쓴 괴한에게 납치 되었다. In the plane, they were abducted by unidentified assailants wearing helmets.

그들은 존과 박을 오래된 공장에 가둬 두었다. 그들이 자리를 비운 사이 존과 박은 탈출할 방법을 생각하다가 공장 상자 속에 들어 있는 폭발물로 TNT를 만들기 시작한다.

They locked John and Park up in an old car factory. When they left, John and Park tried to figure out how to escape and started to make a TNT(trinitrotoluene) bomb using explosive materials in a box that they found in the car factory.

펑! 큰소리와 함께 문이 파괴 되었다. 힘들게 탈출하고 보니 그곳은 아주 작은 무인도였다. Bang! With an explosive sound, the door exploded. After a strenuous escape, John and Park realized that they were on a very small uninhabited island.

“뭐야? 여기 무인도야? 여기서 죽고 싶지 않다고!” 박이 말했다. “무언가 방법이 있을 거야, 섬을 살펴보자”존이 달랬다. “What? A deserted island? But I don’t want to die here!” cried out Park. “There must be some way out of here. Let’s take a look around.” John tried to calm Park down. John and Park | 13
존과 박은 해가 질 때까지 섬을 돌아다녔지만 아무것도 발견하지 못했다. 그러던 중 갑자기 박이 외쳤다. “존! 여기 해골이 있어!” 그 해골은 일기를 가지고 있었다. Johan and Part walked around the island until the sunset but didn’t find anything. Then suddenly, Park shouted. “John! Here is a skull!” The skull had a diary nearby.

박이 그 일기를 주워서 읽기 시작했다. Park picked up the diary and started to read.

“도대체 무슨 내용이야? 어서 읽어 봐.” “알겠어, 존! 1993년.......” “What does it say? Read it out loud.” “Ok, John! ‘In 1993…….’”

‘1993년9월20일 월요일 오늘은 너무 슬픈 날이다. 괴한들이 마을을 습격해 마을을 불태우고 사람들을 잡아갔다. 나는 가까스로 몸을 피했지만 친구들이 다 잡 혀 갔나 보다. 하루빨리 이 섬을 탈출 해야겠다.’ ‘Monday, September 20, 1993 Today is a tragic day. Unidentified assailants attacked the town, burned houses and took away our people. I myself ran away but all my friends seemed to have become victims. I must escape this island as soon as possible.’

‘1993년 9월24일 금요일 괴한들에게 잡혀 가지 않을 최적의 장소를 찾았다. 동굴과 공장이다! 동굴은 그들이 잘 보지 않고, 공장은 수색을 끝냈 는지 아무도 없다. 내일부터는 헬리콥터를 만들기 위해 공장으로 거 처를 옮겨야겠다.‘ ‘Monday, September 20, 1993 Today is a tragic day. Unidentified assailants attacked the town, burned houses and took away our people. I myself ran away but all my friends seemed to have become victims. I must escape this island as soon as possible.’

‘1993년 10월 15일 금요일 드디어 헬리콥터가 완성되었다!! 오늘밤 탈출하기 위해 체력 보충을 해야겠다. 그런데 왜 이리 피곤하지? 아까 벼락을 맞아서 그런 건가? 어쨌든 오늘 일기는 여기서 마치겠다. 뿅!!’ ‘Friday, October 15, 1993 Finally, the helicopter is ready!! I should get some rest to escape tonight. But why am I feeling so tired? Would this be because I was hit by a lightening this afternoon? Anyway, I shall stop my diary here tonight.’

다음 장은 없었다. “아마 벼락을 맞아서 그런 것일 거야. 일단 자동차 공장으로 가보자!” There were no more pages after that. “It is probably because he was hit by a lightening.” 다음날 아침. 존과 박을 자동차 공장으로 갔다. 그곳에 진짜 헬리콥터가 있었다. “박, 빨리 헬리콥터에 타자.” “그래 존, 빨리 이 섬을 탈출하자.” In the next morning, John and Part went to the car factory. There was a helicopter indeed. “Park, let’s get into the helicopter fast.” “Ok, John. Let’s get out of here.”

글을 마치면서

에필로그
문희석 (13) 이번에 이야기를 만들면서 이야기를 만드는 것이 어렵다는 것을 알 았습니다. 그리고 다른 사람들의 도움을 받지 않고 ‘혼자 글을 써도 할 수 있어’라는 생각으로 글을 쓴다는 것이 바보 같은 짓 이라는 것을 알았습니다. 이야기 만드는데 도움을 준 선생님, 그리고 같이 이야기를 만들어 준 동생에게도 감사하다는 말을 하고 싶습니다. I realized how hard it is to write a story. And I realized it is stupid to make a story thinking ‘I can do everything alone.’ I want to say thank you to teachers and my friend who made the story with me. 김건우 (11) 형 같이 책 만들어서 즐거웠고, 많이 도와 줘서 고마워. 앞으로 친하게 지내자.
