News from Stotfold Watermill

December is here already so the first task is to wish all our readers as well as members of the Stotfold Mill Preservation Trust a thoroughly enjoyable Christmas and a very successful New Year.

Perhaps spring 2022 will allow us to meet together without all the cautions we have been exercising for almost two years and our Sunday visitors can enjoy delicious cream teas without the surrounding screens. Note now that our first Sunday open will be 27th March. We will be looking forward to seeing you and as you note the date in your calendar you might also wish to add the Spring Fair and Country Show date as 7th/8th May. Certainly, something to look forward to!

Looking back, we must thank all of you who wrote in praise of October’s Working Steam Weekend. It was great to be back with this popular event which is so much a feature of our local community calendar. It certainly attracted large crowds of visitors who were doubtless encouraged to enjoy a weekend that brought a little of a late Indian summer.

Thanks too, to all of you who sent the messages of appreciation for the Halloween Spooktacular at the end of the month. Spooky things were happening in the nature reserve which was bedecked with ghosts and all things spooky. Over 40 children and their families enjoyed a Halloween trail, decorated pumpkin competition, making spooky badges, hunt the ghost and many other activities. The weather held out and great fun was had by all. Very many thanks to our team who organised this end of season event.

The decorated pumpkin was won by Gita and the ghost hunt was won by Izzy. Congratulations to them both.

Are you starting to think about making New Year resolutions this month or contemplating some new activity as we begin to see signs of escape from Covid in 2022?

If so, why not consider joining our volunteers at Stotfold Mill. We are very anxious to find people who will use their skills and give a little of their time to help promoting our future events.

If you are interested in anyway, email VolunteerSupport@stotfoldmill.com to chat with us about how you might help.
