Sea views and world-class greens In the summer of 2020, Åland’s most popular golf course, Slottsbanan, reopened after a comprehensive renovation. The result is a very highly regarded course with even more seafront space. Slottbanan is praised by golfers for its beautiful stretches along the Slottssundet sound, where you can enjoy stunning sea views from all 18 holes. After being open for two seasons, it’s fairly clear that the course maintains its high standards. Particularly the greens, which are of the highest European class. And, it’s not just the golfers who rank Slottsbanan so high. The Ladies European Tour, which is the second highest international women’s tour in the world, also sees the course’s potential and has chosen to
host one of the tournaments in Åland in the beginning of September 2022. Some 120 international professional women golfers will gather at Ålands Golfklubb to compete on the Slottsbanan course, an event that is expected to draw a big audience. GOLF IS A SPORT that is increasing in popularity, and Ålands Golfklubb welcomes a large number of satisfied golfers each year. One tip is to plan well ahead and book the tee times for the entire year.
In addition to Slottsbanan, Åland also has Kungsbanan, a beautiful 18-hole course with forested grounds. The Prinsessan short hole course, with its six par 3 holes, is perfect for anyone wanting to give golf a try or work on their technique. YOU CAN FIND even more beautiful greens and fairways at Eckerö Golf on the west coast of Åland. Golfers of every skill level enjoy it here thanks to the four tees on the club’s 18-hole course. This gives everyone the chance to finish holes on their handicap. The first nine holes of the course are a bit easier, while the last nine are longer and more challenging.
