ELFER – SPORTS MOUNTAIN AND MANY EXPERIENCES

Sports enthusiasts and hikers can expect plenty of variety on Neustift’s local mountain.

If you want to experience a sunset in the mountains after the sunrise, the Elferbahnen in Neustift are the right place for you. Every Monday in summer, you have the opportunity to experience dusk in the Stubai Valley in a special way during a sunset cable car trip (stop running at 9.30 p.m.). During the day, on the other hand, pure action awaits all sports enthusiasts on the Elfer, the ‘sports mountain’ in the Stubai Valley, whether it’s on the ground or in the air: For paragliders and hang-gliders, the Stubai Valley has always been known for its superb flying conditions and unique thermals. The take-off and landing areas are right next to the cable stations at the Elfer. The two single trails on the Elfer are a magnet for downhill fans from all over Tyrol. On the rather natural EinsEinser Trail you can expect some drops and northshore elements as well as a wallride. The somewhat easier ZweiZweier Trail runs partly under the gondola, but also in the forest. You can expect short natural sections, berms and smaller jumps. The Elferkofel via ferrata and North Face route are among the oldest via ferrata routes in Tyrol. They have been supplemented by more sports climbing routes and climbing gardens. The Elfer in Neustift is a hiker’s paradise with trails ranging from flat to steep and from ten minutes to several hours of walking. The almost seven-kilometre-long combination of the three Geh-Zeiten-Wege with their three different themes reveals interesting phenomena to hikers. On the Sonnenzeit, Blütenzeit and Steinzeit trail, inquisitive nature researchers learn exciting and interesting facts about the units of time, the cycle of alpine fauna and the changes and ageing of the mountains. The starting point for these hikes is the largest walk-in sundial in the Alpine region, which towers at the top of the Elfer.
