Students Experiment with Sustainable Fashion Innovative designers source locally and incorporate unconventional materials By Sarah Nickle on October 2, 2017

There has been much debate as to whether some fashion student’s looks have been imaginative in embodying the future of fashion, or if their work is completely irrelevant. Many collections that have walked down the runway seem to not be wearable in any sense. Although these looks are great for marketing purposes, many students are more concerned with creating wearable looks that can sustain time. While looking through students 2017 collections from all over the world, Eden Slezin’s menswear collection caught my eye. His silhouettes are not anything we haven’t seen before, but the texture of his “leatherwork” and denim made his garments stand out. Eden just graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. The focus of his work is on creating classic designs that withstand the test of time. He does this by creating garments of higher quality with timeless silhouettes. Eden does his best to do his part by ensuring that his garments do the least amount of harm possible to the environment. His sustainable practices include using organic twill and other natural fabrics, no chemicals, recycled materials, local
