With much talk of small businesses, I am sure many of you will be contemplating starting something on your own or maybe partnering with a friend or two, while some will be considering joining the family business.

IT Developer Nidal Shehadeh digital@ph7-kw.com

Well…While everything in life has its pros and cons, I have to say that working in a professional environment far from friends and family teaches us some of life’s best lessons! To make the leap from being a student to being an employee is no easy feat. Adhering to rules, following orders, reporting to superiors, getting performance evaluations… none of these come naturally to us… and yet, this is the price that any human being who wants to build a career will have to pay! So, my graduating students, if you have a dream of opening your own business or joining the family business, I urge you to consider putting that thought on hold until you amass a solid experience outside your comfort zone. I mean come to think of it, you invested 22 years of your life learning from teachers, wouldn’t you want to invest 3 to 5 more in learning from practitioners? It is just a thought I needed to share with you, hoping that it will make you think about it. Having said that, whatever your choice may be, STUDENTALK and I wish you all the best in your new stage, may it be filled with the greatest moments and may you make your country proud.

COVER STORY

NORA AL-QAOUD

THE NUMBER ONE FEMALE SHOW-JUMPER IN KUWAIT STUDENTALK magazine reaches out to influential students who are representing Kuwait on the regional and international level. Nora Al-Qaoud, the best female show-jumper in Kuwait, fits perfectly in that category. Since infancy, she was aspiring to take her mother’s footsteps into horseback riding. Her strong commitment to showjumping required her to set studying abroad a side in order to train and compete in several competitions in the Gulf Region and Europe. STUDENTALK Magazine met with Al-Qaoud to study her passion for show-jumping as well as how women in Kuwait are capable of excelling at equestrian sports regardless of society’s misconceptions.

Tom Tailor’s cover page look with the pink Sporty De La Mar Polo with the white color looks stunning on Nora while she’s on the horse. The Slim Leggings Pants are beautifully tailored and comfortable for the horse rides.

22

‫قصة الغالف‬

How did you start your journey with horseback riding? My journey with horseback riding began 1996, when I was 3 years old. My mother, a former rider and now an international judge, motivated both my sister and me in riding by attending summer courses to enjoy the experience. The most integral aspect about horseback riding at an early age is to establish an experience by communicating with horses. As I got older, my passion for riding grew and I started practicing show-jumping with a professional trainer to start competing. I started competing locally and internationally to develop my skills and increase my commitment for showjumping. My sister had to stop four years ago when she moved to New York for her studies, but my passion for show-jumping obligated me to set college aside and study here at GUST to train and compete locally and internationally.

The navy blue Feminine Collar Polo has a twist with the collar’s light blue print. To create a color contrast, Nora paired it with the green Slim Alexa feminine trousers made from stretch twill. The decorative seams on the pockets on the front adds a special twist to the pants. The overall look is great for casual evenings.

How do the rules of show-jumping differ from racing? I cannot compete in racing due to my height, but I find show-jumping more thrilling and interesting. There are three different levels; beginner, medium and senior. I am in the senior class. The objective for the show jumper is to negotiate a series of obstacles, where emphasis is placed on height and width, and to do so without lowering the height i.e. knocking down or refusing to jump any of the obstacles. The time taken to complete the course is also a factor. Horses are allowed a limited number of refusals before being disqualified. There are different classes within the show-jumping competitions. The first class is the jump off were you have to clear the first round, they take the fences from the first course but not all of them and you have to jump them again but faster. The horse and the rider who have not accumulated any jumping faults or penalty points are said to have scored a “clear round.” Tied entries usually have a jump-off over a raised and shortened course, and the course is timed; if entries are tied for faults accumulated in the jump-off, the fastest time wins. Another class in the competition is called the accumulator. In this class, the fences are already set for the riders. However, the fences accumulate in height and difficulty. You gain or lose points, depending on whether you clear the fence or not. In the last class, you have an option between the normal fence and the Joker. If you take the risk of choosing the Joker fence, you will either lose or gain more points than the normal fence. The difficulty of the classes varies, as there is no hard or easy class.

The best casual looks in the mornings are those with bright colors. The white Fine Pique Polo made from piqué with artwork; its artwork consists of a print, badge and embroidery on the chest. The white Polo accentuates the fiery red Slim Axle trousers. 23

COVER STORY

What is the different between competitions internationally versus competitions locally? Fortunately, I’ve experienced competing in the Arab League which takes place around the Emirates and the Gulf region. In the summer, I will prepare to compete in competitions around Holland, Germany and Belgium. I am very proud with the progress that has taken place in the Arab League due to the fact that previously, the Arab League riders and trainers were not up to the professional standards in comparison to Europe – this is a very gratifying feeling. For the past couple of years, Kuwait held various international competitions were several Europe riders came to visit our beloved country to compete.

How do you train your horses to compete for your competitions? I train with my horses on a daily basis. Sunday to Thursday, we train for the competitions that are usually held on Fridays. On Saturdays, I take my horses out for a ride; however, not for strenuous training. I have five horses, three in Kuwait and two in Holland. I have a male, Worito, and two females Uranda B and Mikki. Worito (age 10), who is my best friend, understands me very well and I have had him for 4 years. Uranda B (age 13) is my senior horse and competes with me in the senior competitions as it is the prime years for horses to compete between the ages of 13 to 16. In Holland, I have a male and a female horse, Ice Blue and Gemila. I had a soft spot for their mother because she was a great jumper and extremely beautiful, sadly she died last year. Some people would be appalled by the fact that we do not train horses to jump as it comes from nature. However, our training comprises of working on the horse’s muscles in the right places in order to jump efficiently and effectively. The training also includes communicating with the horses as they have minds of their own, just like us! A risk that all riders take is that the horse can refuse to jump depending on their mood. During the training, we establish a stronger communication or bond in order to prevent such obstacles. For example, Worito understands me as a person and if he knows I am not struggling, he will try his best to work harder. Vice versa, if I am in a good mood, he will somehow take advantage of the situation and go against it.

24

The Sporty leisure dress, Solid Polo Dress, from Tom Tailor combines an easily casual and elegant look together. It will make you feel like a Californian girl especially with the San Diago high quality embroidery.

‫قصة الغالف‬

Had it not been for your mother, do you think you still would have had an interest in equestrian sports? Many of my friends were already involved in equestrian sports, thus that would have been a factor as to why I would participated in show jumping. However, my mother had a great impact on me because she encouraged me to reach a professional level as the best female senior rider in Kuwait. Observing my mother as a rider previously and now an international judge, was one of the main aspects that increased my commitment. She is not allowed to be on the judging panel while I compete, which puts her out of several competitions.

In your opinion, does Kuwait’s society and culture encourage women to participate in equestrian sports? A unique aspect about equestrian competitions is that people from different genders, age groups, religions and nationalities compete together. It is also the reason that discourages women from participating. Unlike soccer and basketball, there is no gender segregation when it comes to showjumping, which makes women intimidated to compete. As men are physically stronger, they might jump into conclusion that they will not win. However, you are only interacting with a horse. Another misconception about show-jumping in particular is that it is a dangerous sport. Yes, there is a chance that someone might fall off the horse, but there is also a chance for someone to fall off the stairs, God forbid. All the injuries that would happen during show-jumping can be prevented during the training process. I cracked my back, dislocated my knee and had a couple of injuries, yet I am still persistent to continue my heavy involvement in show-jumping. Another reason why women are not joining equestrian sports is that it is not really well advertised in Kuwait, especially amongst university students. Evidently, Kuwait’s society is becoming more aware of the equestrian sports recently. Yet, I think several students are training as a fashion statement not for the intention to take it on the professional level or for personal enjoyment. However, I would really encourage everyone in Kuwait to join such exciting and rewarding sport! It was such a pleasure learning about the equestrian sport, show-jumping, from someone who has great experience at such a young age. Nora Al-Qaoud has set a strong example for Kuwaiti woman who is capable of competing against other riders from different nationalities, age groups and those who have been in the field for decades. Also, what we can learn from Al-Qaoud experience is that falling off of anything does not mean the end, because when you get back you will be stronger.

For a smart casual look, Nora presents to you the baby blue shirt with high quality embroidery. The Slim Fit black leggings from Tom Tailor accentuates the bright baby blue color.

STUDENT LIFE INTERVIEW

UNIVERSITY CLUB LEADER

ABDUALLAH AL-MASS A MUSICAL TOUCH FROM ACK

To showcase another side of students’ life that does not involve business, events or seminars, STUDENTALK decided to conduct an interview with Abdullah Al-Mass, the President of the Music Club. Not only does he play two instruments, drums and guitar, he also conducts performances on and off campus. While working on adding a musical touch at the Australian College of Kuwait, he studies Mechanical Engineering and plays football. To know more about their activities they conduct on and off campus, here is our interview with Al-Mass.

When did you start learning guitar and drums? I started learning the guitar about 1 year and 4 months ago, as for the drums, it was somewhere around 2 years ago but I stopped playing it once I got into the guitar.

Is it difficult for anyone to learn how to play two instruments? Nothing is every difficult if someone is determined to accomplish it. Many might find it hard to learn two instruments simultaneously. However if you put all your efforts into something that you like then it can be easily achieved as I believe that nothing is impossible.

Why did you decide to become the President of the Music Club? Actually I never decided to be the Music Club Prescient. Luckily, I was chosen by the previous Music club members to take over after they left.

What activities did the club conduct on &off-campus? Our first activity outside of ACK was at Al Bida’a. It was an event called the Acoustic Night where we played different types of music with our acoustic guitars. On Campus, we had one of our guitarists & singer from the band Lost in Limbo perform for the foundation students at ACK.

How does managing a Music Club differ from managing any other club? Like any other club, you need to have good leadership skills as you are managing several people or players. However, what makes the Music Club different from any other club is that you do not only prepare for the event you also need to practice the music. It takes several weeks to practice. You can’t risk a show going wrong due to lack of practice from one member because the show builds our reputation as event managers and musicians.

32

What were the obstacles that you have faced? As the musical events are different from any other events, there are very small obstacles that can happen which could decrease the quality of the music that is being delivered to the audience. Dealing with equipments, no matter how much you prepare, unfortunately technical difficulties can happen. We try as much as possible to avoid them.

How do you picture the future of the Music Club? I picture our club’s musicians and singers to be known through out the universities in Kuwait.

The Kuwait National Robotics competition is an autonomous robotbuilding contest, whereby students from competing universities are challenged to design and build a robot that traverses a given track in the least possible time. The competition consists of two levels: “Level A” for advanced students and “Level B” for beginners. The panel of judges consisted of distinguished members from the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), KU, ACK, AUK and the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity.

A Story of a Dreamer Latifa al-Qallaf Industrial Engineering -18

On a road, barefoot I walked, enjoying the view on each side The trees, those damn green trees, so green they make my hazel eyes swamped with tear I couldn’t resist, I came closer to the touch leaves They were coated with plastic as if it’s so fake yet so true. I smell; inhale all the beautiful essence. For a second I stopped, I noticed that I needed to go forward. I didn’t want to, because I’d miss those trees. Yet, I looked ahead. I saw more and more trees, and in between, I saw a boy, a man and two little girls. They were smiling and I forgot about the trees, I started walking towards them. No, that’s a lie I ran. Not noticing the cars, or the accidents I was causing, or the pain burning my naked feet. I was invisible. I needed to stop and take a breath… and smell those damn trees again. Oh wow, they have a beautiful smell. After a second I lifted my head up and found that they were still there. He was smiling, he was waiting, he had brown eyes too, and his arms were open. Don’t get confused, I’m talking about the man. I wanted to start running again, but my mind was wondering the a with questions: who was he? Is he real? Does he exist? The only real things right now are the beautiful tress and the short distance, but I’ve been running too long. Sometimes the fog, the rain and the cloudy days are real. But it’s rare to get those beautiful days. The sunny days with the cool weather, and their smiles all together.

38

Could I be running after a dream? Could I be dying to have this dream? Yes I was. How long would I be running for? What if I get there and they aren’t as beautiful as they seem from the distance? I look up and he was there, smiling but worried. His eyes are asking me about the doubt, asking me why I stopped. I was screaming; confused by the displacement in between, “I’m not sure something so beautiful is real, are you, real?” He looked at me then looked at his watch, and shrugged with no answer. But, then came the smile and I started running. I stopped to take a breath again, I smell the trees. Then I looked up, and he was no longer there. He was gone. So were the little kids in pink and blue. Now I started running with all my heart. I needed to go after them, find them, find my dream. Alone, lost, no hope, afraid of the dark, and I was running Running after my dreams. I ran with my head up, looking straight hoping to get a glimpse of the smiles and colors, but I couldn’t. But still I ran. I am a dreamer ladies and gentlemen; I’ll keep running untill I can’t anymore. I’ll keep running untill I fall in his arms, and he tells me who he is, and admits those beautiful kids are mine and so is he.

MAKING KUWAIT PROUD LOCAL BUSINESS

KUWAITI LOCAL BUSINESS

AHMAD NASSER & ABDULLAH OUN,

PICTURING THE BEST MEMORIES WITH EXTRA In a competitive market such as photography, it is important for a professional photographer to keep up with the latest trends, effects and equipment. The STUDENTALK Team dug deep into the world of photography while interviewing Ahmad Nasser and Abdullah Oun. The photographers mentioned several important aspects, from their adaptation to the competitive market to their company’s future plans.

How does your company, Extra, cope with such a competitive market? It’s a competitive market indeed and businesses such as ours are struggling due to the spread of knowledge, know-how and the affordable equipment compared to the past. But we at EXTRA have a different concept. We don’t just provide photography services; we utilize photography, social media marketing, graphic design, logos, branding, and interior design to enhance the customer’s business needs. We work in teams. I am responsible for the studio management; while my friend Abdullah Oun handles the Social Media and the Marketing Management. We also have a team of highly qualified individuals in the graphic and interior design areas. The best thing about EXTRA is that our services are customized to match the customer’s requirements. In addition, we can provide them with suggestions from our side, if they wish to start their own business.

42

If you have great skills, there is no specific difference between an amateur photographer and a professional photographer

‫فخر الكويت مشاريع محلية‬

What instigated your passion in photography? I have been passionate about photography since childhood. I remember receiving my first camera as a gift from my father when I was a child. I saw the world through it. I practically took pictures of everything around me and I did not leave it until I went to bed.

What is the difference between an amateur and a professional photographer? Photography is a passion, whether it is on an amateur or professional level. If you have great skills, there is no specific difference between the amateur photographer and the professional. The main difference is the commitment. A professional photographer is committed to his job, and his clients, motivated to improve the business and never loses a good customer. The second difference is the equipment. It is not just a camera, it captures the light along with creating the light, so you have to use the full set of the lighting equipments in certain places. Utilizing filters and combining it with the natural or artificial light available to you is a must.

What are the key steps that one needs in order to become a professional photographer? In order to become a professional photographer, you must never stop learning. Never think that you have reached the maximum knowledge or experience. You have to market yourself; lots of brilliant professional photographers lose their businesses only because they lack awareness.

How do you “picture” the future of Extra? I am hoping that the future of EXTRA will be bright. Abdullah and I are trying to do our best to achieve perfection. My ultimate dream for EXTRA is for it to grow into a multinational company with offices all over the Middle East and the world. This will allow us to broaden our services and perhaps add an architectural design section to propose buildings and governmental halls. Moreover, I trust that my colleges are highly motivated to grow and to perfect our business with us. Lastly, the key to success is to surround yourself with good professional people.

SOCIAL DIWANEYA TIPS FOR BETTER YOU

Tips for After Graduation Congratulations! You have just completed the easiest part of your life. The true challenge in a fresh graduate’s life is how to apply your four years of learning experience in university at your work place. You might not need algebra or art if you are pursuing a business degree, but in rough times, they might come in handy. After you move your tassel, some sort of depression is experienced due to the lack of preparation of the future. This is where STUDENTALK steps in with its beneficial tips to help you from sinking in the quick sands of after graduation.

1 Take a Decision. Stop and ponder, what do you really want to do after you graduate? Some students want to take a year off to relax or prepare for their masters degree. Others want to find a job to start paying their own bills or for work experience. There is no right or wrong answer, it is merely what you want. The more confident about your future decision, the less you will feel pessimistic about the future. 2

Make an Action. Now that you have decided on what you will do, you must familiarize yourself with the necessary steps to achieve your goal. In this stage, Google will be your best friend that will guide you through what you will need to do. Also, you can read about other people’s stories, not to imitate them but in order to have several perspective on your decisions and actions.

Write Your Resume. Whether you will pursue your Masters Degree or penetrate the work force you must have a polished resume. Add all your university experiences, but be concise. All your volunteer experiences or your involvements in activities off and on campus will show how active you are. If you were not involved as much on campus, it is imperative to mention some of the educational projects you did in order to showcase your capabilities.

4 Forgot Cover Letter? Do not forget it! The cover letter is the email that you will send to the institute or the work place that will highlight the position or the major you will apply for. The cover letter is your 48

opportunity to highlight and explain specific aptitudes and skills to impress the receiver. For example, if are applying for an Event Management position, mention all the events you volunteered at or created in order to show your managerial skills.

5

Learning Never Ends. Just because you just graduated, does not mean you will never read an article or a book anymore. You must educate yourself on certain aspects that will help you achieve your goal. Read more study cases and be familiar with aspects around your pursued major. Just by picking up the newspaper and reading daily events, you will evolve your knowledge even more which will make you stand out from the rest of the other post-graduate students.

6

Enjoy an Active Life. This advice is important especially for those who decide to take a year off before studying or working. You must have a dynamic life in order to develope your talents and skills. Volunteer, start your own business, and/or work on different small projects; the sky is the limit! Your life will not end after you graduate. On the contrary, it will begin. Therefore, you must start your journey with solid and right steps in order to achieve your goal and have a successful life. Trust me, it is achievable.

FEATURE TELECOMMUNICATION

Fatemah, this is your first appearance since Wataniya Telecom introduced its new face Ooredoo. What can you tell us about your new brand Ooredoo?

Caring, Connecting & Challenging Name: Fatma Malallah Occupation: Senior Marketing Executive, Social Media – Communications Division – Ooredoo Tasks: responsible for all social media channels of Ooredoo and their posts, communication with audience, preparing social media campaigns, and managing influencers.

I am very excited about our new brand Ooredoo and what it stands for: Caring, Connecting, and Challenging. Those are the 3Cs which we work on daily to achieve. Ooredoo is a brand for all communities within Kuwait. We are a community-focused company, and we have a responsibility to our customers to help contribute towards the social development of all communities within Kuwait. We are part of Ooredoo Group, a leading international company that operates in some14 countries across the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. Throughout the group we pursue the same values and vision of enriching people’s lives. We put the customer’s experience at the heart of everything we do. At Ooredoo we work hard to truly understand what it is that customers want, and to learn how they connect with us. Kuwait brings together different nationalities, cultures and traditions that make each of our customers different. Their priorities are diverse, but we will continue to strive and help them grow as individuals, as families and as a community.

52

‫تغطية خاصة إتصاالت‬

We can see that you are a young, enthusiastic and motivated Kuwaiti woman. What are your ambitions at Ooredoo? And how is Ooredoo supporting you become what you want? As a leading international company, Ooredoo’s vision is all about enriching people’s lives, including the lives of its employees. Part of this is through enabling youth, helping them grow and to fulfill their potential. Another part is helping women to thrive in Kuwait. There are many other young Kuwaiti women, just like me, working at different departments of Ooredoo. The company is giving us full support and motivation to become what we want. What I first learned with Ooredoo is that it’s not just about what we do, but also how we do it. To achieve my dreams at work, I focus on how I do things to bring out the best of results and deliver the best quality. My ambition is to grow further within my field of social media. For do this I believe I need the continuous learning which Ooredoo is supporting me with, through constant training both in and out of Kuwait. In addition, an exchange of knowledge is very important for employees’ development in general, and this is another are in which Ooredoo supports and encourages us.

What feedback did you receive from your customers on Ooredoo’s social media channels after the launch, and how did you react? This was a challenge to us. It was hard to predict people’s reactions to the new brand name Ooredoo. As we all know, human nature does not accept change readily. What we had to do is create a plan and get it ready for before the launch date, 22nd May 2014. A full plan was created to help us quickly react to all feedback on the brand and respond to their questions on our social media channels. I am glad to say that after we launched, we received far more positive comments than negative. I believe that people in Kuwait are excited by new experiences, new brands, and new products. Furthermore, when we launched we asked our customers “What do you want?” We wanted to listen to their needs and then fulfill them. Our customers loved the direction we took, and reacted to it in a positive way.

What are your customer’s requirements via social media? They wanted an amazing network, superb customer service, products at great value and, most importantly, they wanted a great experience with Ooredoo. We gathered all their wants to make them happen. We are working hard, and will continue to work hard, in order to deliver the best customer experience for our customers.

What are your upcoming plans for the social media channels following the launch of Ooredoo? Now that we have launched the Ooredoo brand name, we next want to emphasize our local identity. We want to identify Ooredoo Group at best, that is to say as a community-based company. Therefore Ooredoo in Kuwait is about all communities of Kuwait. Through our social media channels, we will take a more focused local direction than before, and we will create innovative and engaging activities to entertain customers and spread awareness. We believe that transparency and honesty through what we say and what we do is what makes us closer to customers, and we will continue that.

Introduce yourself to the readers. “To achieve greatness you have to have greatness within” and to be a rapper I need to have another way of thinking to express my message using meaningful words. My Name is Mohammad Waleed, and I am a student at the American University of the Middle East.

What is your talent? My talent is basically using great words to make people aware of a phenomenon that we usually see or experience in our society or culture.

How did you develop your talent? The ability to come up with meaningful and touching sentences is not something to be developed. It is something raw and beautiful. I could be sitting right in front of you and by looking in your eyes, I can exactly know what you are thinking or feeling. Also, I can write a paragraph that matches or expresses these feeling. Therefore, It is something within the personality not something that can be developed.

What are your future plans? The reason why I started rapping is to let people know and experience what I feel and make them focus on their surrounding environment. As long as I can reach the majority of people with my rap then I have achieved my goal.

Did you encounter any obstacles? Look around you, tell me one English singer, writer, rapper, musician that easily succeeds in Kuwait? Not one! English is considered as a second language and it is hardly understood. Which made me think whether the messages I send through my talent will be sent across to the Kuwaiti society.

Who supported your talent? My mother nurtured and pushed me to write and rap. She strongly supported what I do. I would like to express my gratitude to Hussain AlNaddaf because he made me realize that I have a great talent, when I didn’t notice and he made me his crew partner.

Any last words for the readers? I strongly want people in Kuwait and the Middle East to open up to new experiences and try to adapt and understand the world with every language out there. Rapping is the power of using words to communicate with others and make them feel what you feel. Moreover, it can help you achieve delivering a powerful message.

What are your future plans? After being recognized by everyone in Kuwait, my future plan is to make it around the region and Insha’Allah I would like to perform on the international level.

TALENTS

R E N WIN

MOHAMMED KEROW The Most Talented Competition for May 2014 STUDENTALK would like to extend its warm congratulations to Mohammad Kerow for winning the STUDENTALK Talent Competition during the May Issue. Football free-styling is an outstanding talent that requires physical and mental practice regularly. Thus, we are really happy for Kerow winning by outstanding votes. To know more about his experience through learning Football free-styling and how he developed it, here is the interview with the winner.

What instigated your passion for Football Free-styling? My talent is performing football free-style. Basically doing tricks with the ball. First time I saw free-styling was by the popular football player named Ronaldinho. When he did the trick called “flip flap” and also the “around the world”, this amused me and ever since I start practicing doing tricks and upgrading my skills. I have been practicing everyday till I get the tricks correct and start using in the games.

How will you include your talent in your future plans? Playing professional now a days is difficult. You need to fight to reach the top of the game but the new era of football has come out called futsal. It’s basically playing indoor 5-a-side game. However, I have participated in tournaments and leagues ever since I started playing. My dream is to play in the well-known tournaments in Kuwait like Al-Roudan and the Futsal League.

What are the obstacles you encountered? In Kuwait they have some rules for playing in clubs so I have faced those problems which didn’t allow me participate in top clubs here. Except AlSahel Sporting Club, they have accepted me. I played with them for a full season for the under-21 team. I have left the club to finish my studies.

Who supported your talent? I would like to thank my family and friends who have supported and advised. Even untill today, they still support me, so I have to thank them for that!

What advice would like to give STUDENTALK readers? I would share my experience by saying this “don’t let someone who gave up on their dreams to talk you out of yours, you do what have to do.” I would like to thank STUDENTALK Magazine for letting me share my talent and hope everyone enjoy it. Thanks and one love to everyone.

A lady’s watch

CATCHES BRAZILIAN FOOTBALL FEVER WITH “ENTUSIASMO” !

The Tissot T02 timepieces take their name from the very popular collection of 1999, the Tissot T-Collection. It was the first to be created by a woman for women and to introduce the famous “T” identity into the design. The original model is echoed in the shape of today’s Tissot T02. The time is perfectly integrated into the bracelet, on which you will discover the “Ts” joining up to form the links. This modern take is a piece of jewellery to be worn on any occasion. It is so simple but so efficient at the same time that it took Tissot to think about it.

Rich in detail The many details of the watch provide the Tissot T02 with an incredible richness. All the models of the collection have a mother-of-pearl square at the heart of the dial, giving it that silky deep look surrounded by a zone with a brushed finish under the beautiful indices or diamonds depending on the model. The playfulness between polished and brushed finish facets are also found on the case and bracelets of certain timepieces. It provides subtle elegance to the piece.

Football (soccer) is played with a passion by people of all ages all over the world. Passions rise at exciting tournaments as fans applaud the exploits of their heroes on the field. Enthusiastic support for all kinds of sports plays a big role at Swatch, and in honor of football’s huge popularity in Brazil the Swiss watchmaker has created a special New Gent Lacquered, ENTUSIASMO (SUOZ175).

CALVIN KLEIN BOLD Iconic. Sophisticated. Calvin Klein bold. A classic timepiece that celebrates the refined luxury of the Calvin Klein brand. Davidoff Cool Water Night Dive The iconic Davidoff fragrance Cool Water from 1988 gets its “nocturnal” flanker Cool Water Night Dive in 2014. The fragrance interprets that aquatic and natural character of the original through the prism of night mystique and powerful forces of nature. The man of this fragrance is at the peak of his attractiveness; his charisma is like a magnet that attracts women. The composition gives away the atmosphere of chilly ocean nights; it is somewhat oriental and green. It opens with a splash of cold fresh mint, ocean accord, mastic, pistachio wood and watery fruits. The heart features modern and oriental notes of cashmere, black pepper and tobacco mixed with sage. The base notes include amber, musk, woods and suede.

iPhone 6 hardware specs and Design With the iPhone 6’s expected September release date bearing down on us, it’s time to take a look all of the iPhone 6 hardware, software, and design leaks and rumors. As always there are some crazy leaks and rumors that are fakes, or prototypes never meant to see the light of day, but there’s also enough legitimate leaks that we can construct a pretty good idea of what the iPhone 6 will be. In much the same way that a wealth of rumors pointed to the introduction of the iPhone 5C, it looks like the iPhone 6 will have a larger screen — probably 4.7 inches, but possibly up to 5.5 inches. The most recent data suggests that this larger-screen iPhone 6 would have a display resolution of 1704x960 (or triple the “base” resolution of 568x320).

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Surface Pro 3 is a tablet and a laptop: multiple processor, RAM and storage options intersect with a sleek design that, with a simple snap or click, transform the device from a perfectly balanced tablet to a full-functioning laptop and back again — all in a beautiful package that is 30 percent thinner than an 11-inch MacBook Air. And the new Surface Pen — completely redesigned with form and function in mind — delivers a precise, luxurious drawing and note-taking experience with a single click of the pen. It goes on sale in the US on June 20, and August for the rest of the world.

NEWS TEST DRIVE

THE PORSCHE BOXSTER LIGHTNESS MEANS FASTER AND MORE EFFICIENT With a blip of the engine’s throttle and an adrenaline rush of speed, this month STUDENTALK takes a drive in the Porsche Boxster, a car that is setting top scores for the Porsche Intelligent Performance with its lightweight design, completely revamped chassis, great speed and fuel-efficiency. Abduallah Al-Embariak and Amira Mohammad had the pleasure of driving the Boxster and discovering if it really lives up to the hype. We can tell you they certainly enjoyed its exquisite and stylish interior and exterior design, as well as its comfortable yet sporty drive. We asked them to rate the car in several key areas:

Abduallah Al-Embaraik, 21, AUM, IT: On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), rate the car’s overall performance. The performance is beyond outstanding, definitely deserves a 10

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), rate the car’s overall appearance. The exquisite design of the sports convertible is phenomenal, it definitely deserves a 9

How does this car represent your personality traits? We men love speed. We enjoy the rush of the speed, and at the same time we want to ensure safety. These two qualities are at the forefront of the new Porsche Boxster.

Which car interior/exterior colors do you prefer? I would prefer the exterior to be beige and I love the red interior.

At which age do you hope to get your dream car? As soon as I make the money to afford the Boxster S.

‫أخبار تجربة قيادة‬

Amira Mohammad, 21, GUST, Management: On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), rate the car’s overall performance. The overall performance of the car was exhilarating, I enjoyed driving it, I will give it a 10

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), rate the car’s overall appearance. The combination between exterior black and the interior red perfectly matches, the rating is 9.

How does this car represent your personality traits? The Porsche Boxster perfectly represents me as it is a car for the young yet the strong. It is a car that focuses on speed, agility and the exterior look.

Which car interior/exterior colors do you prefer? I love black exterior as well as red fire interior.

At which age do you hope to get your dream car? Hopefully between the age of 25 to 30.

Performance - Engine: There are two models of the rear-wheel-drive Boxster. The base car gets a 265-horsepower 2.7-liter flat-6 engine that is carried with the majority of its weight between the front and rear axles, a design that fosters quicker change of direction. The Boxster S features 315 horsepower, a 3.4-liter flat-6. Both engine choices are matched with a six-speed manual transmission, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual (known as PDK) is optional.

Sports Car Design: Save the environment and buy the new Porsche Boxster! The lightweight increases the car’s performance and agility which means a reduction in the power needed for day-to-day driving resulting in less fuel consumption. The redesign of the new two-seater Porsche with the usage of die-cast aluminum, aluminum sheet metal, magnesium and high-strength steels are tailored for the corresponding application area of the body, and ensure high levels of stiffness while minimizing the quantity of material used. The lightweight design is also used in the interior with the same material as the exterior. The Boxster’s new shape is not just more striking but offers aerodynamic benefits as well. However, the increased engine and braking performance requires a modified cooling system. The Boxster’s new design is influenced by the interaction between the flatter wind-screen, set further forward, and the all-new, elongated convertible top, which now extends all the way back to the vicinity of the rear wheels. Even when open, the difference with the predecessor is unmistakable: there is no longer any convertible top compartment lid, making the vehicle look lighter.

Safety: The Boxster is blessed with superb agility from the cradle. The new chassis elevates this to a level that puts even the previous Boxster’s agility in the shade. Options such as the enhanced Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), dynamic engine suspension and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) and the optional 20-inch wheels ensure the very highest driving performance. The airbag module now matches the interior color. With PDK models, the push button on the steering wheel can be used to change gear manually. In conjunction with all-electric sports seats (14-way) and adaptive Sports Seats Plus (18-way), the steering wheel is electrically adjustable. The multi-function steering wheel is available if desired, enabling audio, communication and on-board computer to be operated simply and quickly by means of buttons and drums while driving. Another optional feature is the SportDesign steering wheel, which employs alloy shift paddles in conjunction with PDK.

Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Solange: Still One Big Happy Family

Brad Pitt Jams With Bruno Mars at Make It Right Gala

Continue to speculate if you must about what happened in that elevator (and let’s face it, we all have!), but Beyoncé and her fam sure know how to put on a strong united front. Queen Bey posted a handful of gorgeous photos of herself and Jay Z having lunch on Saturday in New Orleans with her mother, Tina Knowles, daughter Blue Ivy, little sister Solange, Solange’s son Julez, and Solange’s boyfriend Alan Ferguson If there were any questions regarding lingering family tension, these pictures set out to erase them. Particularly the smiley group shot of Beyoncé, Solange, Tina, and Jay Z.

Everything about Kim and Kanye’s Wedding

Brad Pitt can keep a beat! The “World War Z” actor, 50, hit the stage with Bruno Mars on Saturday at the Make It Right Gala in New Orleans and proved that he knows a thing or two about rhythm as he played the tambourine. Pitt, clad in a black tux and wearing his hair slicked back, blended right in with the 28- year-old crooner’s band as he jammed along during their performance. We’re sure guests at the swanky event, which sold tickets and tables for up to $25,000, had no idea they’d get a special routine from the charity’s founder. The star-studded guest list included Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, and Sofia Vergara. Chris Rock hosted the A-list evening with appearances from comedian Jim Gaffigan, Bruno Mars and Kings of Leon. Guests enjoyed a dinner prepared by Susan Spicer, Donald Link, Chris Wilson and Rhonda Ruckman.

Mad Men: The Strategy Is My Way

In the world of celebrity, Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kanye West is going to be one of the biggest events since… her 2011 wedding to Kris Humphries! The wedding celebration is expected to begin in Paris on a Friday. Kim confirmed reports that she and her husband-to-be had arrived in the City of Light when she posted a photo of the Eiffel Tower captioned “Beautiful day in Paris” on Monday. She and Kanye spent the rest of the day hitting the gym, indulging in ice cream, and shopping at designer clothing stores along the city’s fashionable Avenue Montaigne. At first, Kim and Kanye were thought to be tying the knot at the Palace of Versailles, but palace officials tweeted in February that wasn’t going to happen. A Versailles spokesman said that the bride and groom were not distinguished enough to wed at the historic landmark. Instead, they are supposedly eyeing the opulent Chateau Louis XIV — a reconstruction of a 17th century castle built between 2008 and 2011 — for some part of the wedding weekend.

The Strategy,” Mad Men’s penultimate episode of 2014, was a very important episode about work and relationships. And in the best tradition of Mad Men, it showed that, for these folks, the most important relationships revolve around work while the best work is about relationships. There’s quite a lot going on in this episode, in which we see a still unconscious sort of sexism coming to the fore as the true dawning of feminism in the 1970s -- most of which we are destined to miss in Mad Men because of its ‘60s setting -- is about to begin.
