WORDS STAND OUT THAT

Dear Students, I always mock my younger colleague who tweets more than she talks, blogs more than she writes, facebooks more than she meets people and posts more instagrams than she has ever taken pictures! But when I was forwarded a whatsapp message from a dear friend of mine, I actually paused.. It was one of Ghandi’s famous quotes that were completely forgotten and revived through the technological frenzy we obviously are all getting caught up in, whether we like it or not. And Ghandi’s words still stand true…And his words are so timely… He said: There are 7 things that can destroy a human being: 1234567-

I dedicate the 6th sin to a person who, just recently, said to me: do not take it personal, it is business. Well, in my humble opinion, business is part of our life and a reflection of who we are and what we stand for, if one lacks ethics in business one lacks ethics, it is simple and very personal. Which of the 7 sins would you like to dedicate and to whom? Share your thoughts with me on zeina@ph7-kw.com STUDENTALK’s next issue will be published in September, so till then, Blessed Ramadan to all, may it be a time for reflection and cleansing… Till the next issue… In the meantime, keep following us on studentalk-online.com

STAND OUT WITH YOUR

PASSION

A Track that is 3 mints long may take weeks to build, but those three mints would live for ever.

Talal Sulaiman When did you start producing music and digital art? During middle school, back in 2005-2006. Who discovered your talent? How did it evolve? No one, I just kept my passion for music and kept practicing until I got to this point and until this day I practice new techniques and different styles. When was your first exhibition / official appearance? It was in GUST at ‘Alive’, a musical festival (January, 2010). How many appearances have you done? I don’t really recall; around 6 or 7 and I hope more to come. Who and what inspired you to get into music and digital art? I was mostly inspired by the music I listen to, and the sounds I hear when I play video games. I’ve always wondered how could they do this? So I did my research and started practicing music. Where do you see Kuwait in this field? It will soon hopefully grow. People are starting to get more musically involved in many genres (rock, hip-hop, metal, 18 - 19

electronica, etc) and all they need is support from everyone. The only problem artists face in Kuwait is the lack of gigs and shows to perform at. What was the biggest challenge you faced as a music and digital art producer? Some people don’t even understand what I do, and that’s a big problem. For this reason, most of my listeners and followers are not local but rather from outside. What are you doing nowadays? Working on new tracks for the album, doing some artwork and thinking about making a music video. Where do you plan to reach with your talent? People’s ears, I just do it because I enjoy it. Today when you look back is there anything you want to change? Not really, because the past is related to the present and I’m happy with what I am right now. Who are your favourite artists and music producers? Flying Lotus, Tokimonsta, Baths, Gonjasufi and Boards of Canada. They have influenced me the most for the current style of my music, but in general I just love all kinds of music, and recently I’m listening to Black Label Society and Black Sabbath some old-school heavy metal. What would you like to say to STUDENTALK readers? First of all I would like to thank you all for the support and for taking time to read this article. If you want to check out my tracks you could go to www.soundcloud.com/ch4ins4w. A special thanks to “STUDENTALK” and I appreciate the hard work and effort you guys provide to support us and by us I mean the students. Love and Peace!

Name: Ramy Saboungui Age: 20 Talent: Magic Tricks When did you start? I started magic at the age of 9 when I first saw a magician perform a trick and it really fascinated me. I started to do simple magic tricks, but it was still hard for me to master them. From there, I worked harder on developing my skills in high school, and I managed to develop a better sense of magic and have met a lot of people. Some famous magicians made fun of my attempts at the beginning. However, they were later shocked after my skills were polished over time. Who gave you support? At first, the only person I got support from was my brother, as my parents weren’t very fond of me trying out magic.

Who is your muse? My muse is what I do in everyday life!

How did your talent evolve? My talent evolved through years of practice, especially when magic is hard. I had to read so many books about street magic at first to improve before I was confident enough to perform in front of people.

Today when you look back is there anything you want to change? I wouldn’t change anything except for starting magic earlier than I have had because who knows what I might have been capable of doing more.

Were there any obstacles? The transition of learning stage magic was the hardest part in the learning process. The trick was to apply what I have learned in street magic on a much larger scale, and to perform in front of a larger audiences.

Any last words to the readers? Whenever someone shows you a magic trick, don’t try hard and focus on catching the trick, A magic trick is an illusion that is done very well and we all know that. So my advice is to sit back and enjoy it!!

Name: Farah Al-Akhras Age: 18 Talent: Drawing When did you start? I started when I was 12 years old. I had gotten really bored during one of my classes and began drawing to entertain myself. Who gave you support? My family and friends gave me support. They loved my drawings and encouraged me to keep it up. How did your talent evolve? I drew all the time, especially when I 20 - 21

realized that my drawings weren’t too bad. Were there any obstacles? No there weren’t. I love drawing and I’m doing it for fun. Who is your muse? Takeshi Obata and Tite Kubo. Today when you look back is there anything you want to change? Not quite. Any last words to the readers? Just find your talent and hold on to it.

Name: Rola Gharib Age: 21 Talent: Photography When did you start? I began photographing a couple of years ago. Who gave you support? My family has always been my support. How did your talent evolve? My talent evolved by time, and I regularly took general and professional courses to improve my photography skills.

Were there any obstacles? At first, yes there were many obstacles I had to face. But of course, I was able to overcome them. Who is your muse? I do not have one muse in particular. Today when you look back is there anything you want to change? There wouldn’t be anything I would change when looking back. Any last words to the readers? If you believe you have a talent, try to improve it, and it will help you in the future.

Name: Rula Kubeer Age: 19 Talent: Fashion designing

Were there any obstacles? I think managing my time between studying and designing was the only obstacle I faced.

When did you start? I began fashion designing 4 years ago.

Who is your muse? All fashion designers inspire me, but Patrizio di Marco was a designer that inspired me the most with his fantastic designs.

Who gave you support? My family and friends were the most people who supported me and helped me to improve my talents. How did your talent evolve? It evolved by working hard for it and watching fashion shows to become up to date with all the new styles and fashions.

Today when you look back is there anything you want to change? No, I am completely satisfied with myself and I don’t want to change anything. Any last words to the readers? Believe in yourself. Hope and talent are the keys to success.

Name: Rasha Al-Jabi Age: 23 Talent: Writing short thoughts

Who is your muse? Paulo Coelho and Gabran Khalil Gabran.

When did you start? I started during high school years.

Today when you look back is there anything you want to change? I wish I worked more on polishing my writing skills. Sometimes I make lame excuses and pretend that I have no time to write. If you neglect this talent, you’ll lose it by time.

Who gave you support? No one! As Paulo Coelho once said, “Writing is one of the most solitary activities in the world.”

How did your talent evolve? Through reading novels and poems. At first, I used to imitate the styles of my favourite authors/poets. Later, I focused more on creating a style of my own. Were there any obstacles? Of course! Writing is never easy. It requires a lot of deep thinking. A lot of energy and spirit, and is a very solitary activity.

Any last words to the readers? Always believe in your capabilities. Life is full of possibilities and opportunities. So never let anyone tell you what you aspire for is impossible.

The Accounting Club

Our aim To highlight the importance of accounting in our lives and to better understand the essence of accounting as well as to fully appreciate it. How to do so Through organizing various activities, discussion sessions, and seminars. Our goals • Serve the Accounting Department and its students. • Strengthen the relationship between the Accounting Department and its students. • Encourage students to major in Accounting. • Minimize the current gap between academic life and real life. • Increase the chance of securing a proper job after graduation.

Members Nasser Al-Munifi-President Dalal Al-Furaih-Vice President Ezra Yazdani-Treasurer Hessa Al-Ajeel-Secretary Mohammed Al-Shatti Salim Al-Fajji Sama Al-Tabbakh Fahad Al-Othman Latifa Al-Marzouqi Farah Al-Hussan Essa Al-Asfour Nawaf Al-Fadhel Fahad Al-Zabin Dalal Al-Osaimi Muneera Al-Khamees 24 - 24

Latest Activity: The Accounting Club recently held a seminar on April 29, 2012 with the title “Communicate Like-A-Boss” given by the lecturer Khalid Al-Zanki. It took place in Kuwait University at the College of Business Administration. The seminar was a success allowing students to learn more about communication skills and how to develop them, as well as how to effectively communicate and influence other people.

The Photography Club

History: The Photography Club started about a year ago. It was just a place to practice taking pictures and share photos. But now, it has become a place for us to expand our knowledge and build our characters. As you know college life is the place where a person build his/her own character, and we chose to have our characters shared and combined with our talent. Aim: Our aim is divided into personal goals and organization / club goals. First, our personal goals are to polish our skills to gain more knowledge about photography, to become professional photographers and develop our sense and feel for photography. Our club goals are to give good knowledge of photography to all people, especially those interested in taking photographs, to further expand our club to have different sections and different kind of photographers, and most significantly, to capture all of our memories in college so that they would last forever. As you know, photography is about how to stop a moment in life, to capture that moment in a matter of seconds in one shot or more so it can remain with you for a life time, and you could always go back and reminisce the happiest moments of your life!

What do we do? Well, what we do is not just photography. We keep memories saved for a lifetime. We teach ourselves how to be creative, leaders and good followers. That made us able to organize and host events that help us both develop and show people what we are capable of doing. Why do we host photography events? Most people do not know the essence of the art of photography or understand the different kinds of photography that exist. As part of our aim, we are responsible for giving people a basic understanding of what photography is, as well as show them the skills that we have. Latest events: The latest events which our club organized were the Photo Gallery Event and the Photographer of the Year Competition.

I sort of used to slack off during my first three semesters at AUK. However, after my GPA began to drop down, I realized that I was capable of doing better, and that I am a smart person. So, I decided to work harder and become more responsible.

QHow do your peers look at you because of your GPA? Adham:

.‫ال اعتقد ذلك‬

Rasha: They see me as a credible source and trust in what I say more compared to students with a lower GPA. They constantly seek my assistance, including those majoring in different programs and respect me for being able to keep a high GPA while working at the same time.

QDo you feel like you are part of your peers or alienated from them? Adham: .‫في بعض الأحيان يؤثر سلبا خاصة عند انشغالي باالمتحانات‬

Q

Adham: .‫ال أعتقد أن معدلي العالي يؤثر على حياتي االجتماعية‬ Rasha: I never felt that it did. On the contrary, I always had time for my friends and have actually had a good social life during my last semester at AUK although it was the most hectic semester!

QHow does your GPA affect your relationship with the teachers? Adham: .‫برأيي ال يوجد عالقة بين المعدل العالي و عالقتي باالساتذة‬

Rasha: In a positive way of course! Professors always have more respect for students with a high GPA and often refer them to other students. For example, many professors have asked to keep a copy of my final papers or projects to use them as examples for future classes. As a student, this definitely makes you feel flattered knowing that I set a good example for others and that I am different from my classmates or peers! 28 - 29

Rasha: The passion for learning, competition, drive, and wanting to challenge myself by proving that I am capable of earning straight As by the end of each semester! I am a person who appreciates the value of education and obtaining a high GPA is just the best reward for all your hard work throughout the semester.

QWhat does it take for you to get such a high GPA? Adham:

Rasha: Sleepless nights, crazy deadlines, projects, papers and exam pressure and competition with other students with high GPA.

QAre you involved in any extra curricular activities? Adham: .‫ال‬

Rasha: Not really. But I always try to volunteer and help many clubs at university such as the Hope Club, the Arabic Literature Club, the Voice of AUK and the AUK Review.

QAre you involved in any charitable organization or activities? Adham: .‫ال‬

Rasha: Yes, I volunteered in the AUK annual blood drive and the Annual Hope Club Carnival this year.

QDo you believe that students with high GPAs will have a better future than those who score average GPAs? Adham: .‫نعم بعض الشيء‬ Rasha: Sometimes, but not necessarily. Some students may be good at studying but be absolutely clueless and know nothing about work. They are not always directly related to one another. Others, on the contrary, may excel at both aspects. It’s just a matter of how much a person proves him/herself in both fields.

Producer Price Index (PPI)

What is PPI? A Producer Price Index (PPI) measures changes in the selling prices producers charge for goods and services, and it tracks as well how prices feed through the production process. The PPI shows trends within the wholesale, manufacturing industries and commodities markets. All of the physical goods-producing industries that make up an economy are included, but imports are not. A rise in PPI signals an increase in inflationary pressures. Given the economic instability associated with rising price levels. A low or falling PPI is indicative of declining prices, and may suggest an economic slowdown. Because producers tend to pass on higher costs to consumers as higher retail prices, the PPI is valuable as an early indicator of inflation. Simply put, inflation reflects a decline in the purchasing power of the currency, where each currency buys fewer goods and services. The PPI is also reported without the volatile food and energy components. Any sudden disruption in oil or food supplies will significantly distort the PPI inflation assessment. By excluding such entities, Core PPI is able to provide a truer, more consistent picture of inflation trends.

32 - 33

The PPI has three headline index figures, one each for crude, intermediate and finished goods on the national level: 1. PPI Commodity Index (crude): This shows the average price change from the previous month for commodities such as energy, coal, crude oil and the steel scrap. 2. PPI Stage of Processing (SOP) Index (intermediate): Goods here have been manufactured at some level but will be sold to further manufacturers to create the finished good. Some examples of SOP products are lumber, steel, cotton and diesel fuel. 3. PPI Industry Index (finished): Final stage manufacturing, and the source of the core PPI. Though intermediate and crude goods price do provide insight for future inflationary pressure, it is the price of finished goods that generates most interest for market participants. The finished goods data is able to gauge price pressure before the goods reach the retail market.

Tina Turner Twitter Death Hoax

Tina Turner is the latest celebrity to fall victim to the Twitter verse death hoax. Twitter was abuzz with tweets that the 72-year-old songstress had passed away, with the rumour supposedly steaming from an anticipated obituary. However, the singer’s rep denied the rumour and confirmed the “What’s Love Got To Do With It” singer is still alive and well!

Jennifer Lopez Shoots Down Engagement Rumours

Don’t look for Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart to tie the knot anytime soon. After the American Idol judge was snapped rocking a suspicious sparkler on her ring finger recently, rumours flew her dancer beau had popped the question. But, it appears everything was not as it seemed. Quoting lyrics from her hit song, “Jenny from the Block,” Lopez headed to her blog to squash the proposal buzz in a post called “The Truth about the Ring.” “Rumours! Don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got. No engagement!” the singer/actress wrote. “What’s the best way to stop a false rumour?” she went on to ask fans. It looks like she found it. The rapper was surprised with an awesome gift from his ladylove Kim Kardashian and the hot car carried quite the hefty price tag. The 31-year-old reality star forked over big bucks for her boyfriend’s brand spanking new $750,000 Lamborghini. Kim’s BFF Jonathan Cheban couldn’t help but comment on the Keeping Up With the Kardashian star’s splurge, tweeting, “Can’t wait for my birthday!” retweeting a story about the car while he was at it. Meanwhile, Kim continued to help Kanye celebrate his 35th birthday, showing up for the Dublin, Ireland leg of Kanye’s “Watch the Throne” tour with Jay-Z.

Lady Gaga Hit by Pole on Stage, Suffers Concussion

The drama just keeps rolling in for Lady Gaga and her Born This Way Ball concert. Just weeks after Gaga was forced to cancel the Indonesian leg of her tour amid protests, the pop superstar suffered another setback, in the form of a concussion. While Gaga was performing the song “Judas,” one of her crew accidentally hit her on the head with a pole. She later told the crowd that, “I want to apologize. I did hit my head and I think I may have a concussion but don’t you worry I will finish this show.” And that she did, going on for another 16 songs.

Miley Cyrus’ Engagement

Miley Cyrus’ pal Bret Michaels totally approves of the cute couple’s super-exciting engagement. The 49-year-old rocker, who’s a long time friend of the Cyrus family, shared a bonding experience he had with Hemsworth while he and Cyrus were recording her cover of “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” for her last album. Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their engagement after dating on and off for three years. www.studentalk-online.com

STAND OUT WITH YOUR

Summer’s Here!

Skincare in the Summer Dr. Charlotta La Via, visiting American Board Certified Plastic Surgeon at Royale Hayat Hospital, stresses Summer skincare for adolescents is especially important. During the hot summer months of going to the beach, swimming, playing beach volleyball, tanning, and late summer nights she stresses can damage the delicate skin of girls and boys alike. What do you do about summer break-outs? How do you treat sunburn in acne prone skin? What affect does salt-water have on teenage skin? Does chlorine harm skin? Let’s explore these questions and strategies to keep your skin fresh and glowing all summer long! Always Use Sunscreen Dr. Razzak, British Board Plastic Surgeon and laser & skin expert states; In July, August and September, the sun’s rays are especially hot and the sun index is high. That means you are prone to sunburn if you go out without sun protection. You may often wonder, will sunscreen make me break-out? Not if you use the right one. Look for an oil-free sunblock that won’t clog pores or aid in break-outs. Always put sunscreen on clean skin and wash off with a gentle cleanser when you come in from the sun. What If I burn? Dr. Sabreyah Al Saleh Consultant Surgeon at Royale Hayat Hospital, states a bit of sun can be beneficial for skin, because sun provides the essential vitamin D which can help to clear up skin. However, being sunburned is never a good thing! One of the best remedies for sunburn is Aloe Vera. This ingredient can be found in creams and gels. 44 - 45

Keep it Clean Professor Reza Nabavian, American Board Plastic Surgeon at Royale Hayat Hospital states most people have a skincare routine. Even if you don’t have acne and just have occasional break-outs, one of the most important summer skincare tips for young adolescents is cleansing. Washing your face more frequently in the summer time will help wash off sunscreen, salt-water, sand and chlorine from swimming pools. All of which can have a detrimental effect on the delicate PH balance of your skin. The most important points are keeping your face clean with a gentle cleanser, always wearing sunscreen and treating accidental burns carefully during the summer months. Other tips include getting plenty of rest, changing pillowcases frequently (as to not get dirt and oil on your face as you sleep), and remembering to eat right and get plenty of water. Most importantly have regular medical facials, they can save your skin years into the future. Ask an Expert If you have questions you’d like answered, post it to us on @RoyaleHayat RoyaleHayat and we’ll have one of our experts answer your queries. www.royalehayat.com

Positive psychology: Teach yourself how to be happy Do you know how to be happy? This may sound like a strange question but psychologists have found that happiness is something that can actually be taught. Psychologists in the last 15 years or so have begun to study happiness resulting in a field called positive psychology. This pioneering area of psychology has identified four primary factors that lead to happiness. 1) Social Connectedness: Social connectedness is one of the factors that is most highly correlated with happiness. This suggests that the more people feel connected, the greater the positive impact on their mood. Research suggests that those people who have at least five close relationships outside of their immediate family, tend to be the happiest. Being socially connected helps people feel a sense of belonging and helps broaden peoples’ social support system when a personal crisis does occur. 2) Optimism: The second factor researchers have correlated with happiness is optimism. Optimism is the expectation that something will turn-out well. If you have trouble being optimistic about life, researchers have found that the following activities improve optimism and happiness: 1. Write 3 good things that happened during the day, every day for a week. Make sure you also list how you were responsible for causing these good things to happen. 2. Write about times in the past when you were at your best. 3. Write a letter to yourself from the future. What are you doing, what have you gone through, and what have you learned? Give yourself some advice. 3) Appreciation: The third happiness factor is appreciation. It is important to both identify what we appreciate and to express our gratitude to others. If identification and expression of appreciation does not come easily to you, try the following activities: 1. List things you are grateful for 1 week. 2. List 3 things that went well during the day and why they happened (for 1 week). 3. Express gratitude to yourself and others on a daily basis. Say why you are thankful, or write it in a letter. Deliver the letter in person and watch person read it. 4. Think about happy life events everyday for a week.

4) Purpose in life: The final factor researchers have identified as being critical in causing happiness is having purpose in life. What gives your life meaning and satisfaction? Happiness researchers have found that people need to have a clear understanding about what gives their life purpose and meaning. For some, their purpose in life may be helping others, working in their community, or serving their country or God. If you are uncertain as to whether or not you are living a purposeful life, write a list of your core personal values and compare it to how you are currently living your life. Is your life congruent with your values? What needs to change? Nicholas Scull, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and has several years experience working with college students in college counseling centers including UCLA, University of WisconsinMadison, and Swarthmore College. FAYM Boutique FAYM, a clever acronym for the young entrepreneurs Feras Abushaar and Yasmeena Al Mulla, who together run a corner boutique. The boutique was established in October 2010, after a year of careful planning. The owners sought to bring unknown eccentric brands to Kuwait from a very young age. Feras himself would call such brands at the tender age of 12 before his parents relented and offered him an opportunity to prove himself in the business world. Feras took the offer seriously; teaming up with Yasmeena Al Mulla. Both worked diligently while also balancing a senior’s life in Bayan Bilingual School and, to the surprise of parents and peers alike, they broke even within the first month. Their business began to skyrocket as the young cohorts introduced Kuwait to a more avantgarde fashion trend, importing attractive brands. Supported by word of mouth from parents and former naysayers alike, Feras and Yasmeena soon became the talk of the town as a constant stream of enthusiasts hit their business going to drastic methods such as contacting their private numbers to secure the products they wanted. Now, at the age of 16, it has become increasingly hard for the owners to juggle a business and a prospect of university abroad, however constant invitations to fashion programs across the world serves as a motivation for them to keep pushing forward. Feras and Yasmeena hope to expand within the upcoming years, however (and rightly so) they have prioritized their education first, citing it as a necessary step towards their future goals of becoming worldwide entrepreneurs in the fashion world.

1 Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen

I threw a wish in the well,Don’t ask me, I’ll never tellI looked to you as it fell, and now you’re in my way I trade my soul for a wish, pennies and dimes for a kiss I wasn’t looking for this, but now you’re in my way Your stare was holdin’, Ripped jeans, skin was showin’Hot night, wind was blowin’Where you think you’re going, baby? [Chorus] Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my number,so call me, maybe? It’s hard to look right,at you baby, but here’s my number,so call me, maybe? Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my number,so call me, maybe? And all the other boys, try to chase me, but here’s my number,so call me, maybe? [Verse 2] You took your time with the call,I took no time with the fall You gave me nothing at all,but still, you’re in my way I beg, and borrow and stealAt first sight and it’s real I didn’t know I would feel it,but it’s in my way Your stare was holdin’, Ripped jeans, skin was showin’Hot night, wind was blowin’Where you think

PLAYERS STAND OUT THAT

Going from an unknown commodity to the toast of English football is no easy feat, but that’s exactly what 18-year old Alex Oxlade Chamberlain did in 2011-2012 after being signed by Arsenal from Southampton for a reported fee between 10-15 million pounds. Notable for his physical tenacity, powerful playing style as well as his speed and confidence, ‘The Ox’ became the youngest English goal scorer in UEFA Champions League history, just after scoring twice in his first three games, at the age of 17. Only his start to the Under-21 International football tournament could be considered more stellar, claiming two assists against Azerbaijan and three more against Israel, after coming on as a second half substitute, to push England from a 1-0 deficit to an impressive 4-1 comeback victory. This was followed by a hat trick against Iceland, before putting in another man of the match performance again against Iceland, this time in a 5-0 trouncing. Oxlade-Chamberlain has already garnered a fan/pundit fixation, considered to be the next top prospect in English football since Wayne Rooney. With a player of his calibre and a new manager at the helm, can England draw inspiration from Chelsea’s Champions League victory in Munich and earn a respectable European finish?

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain With the Summer Olympics & European Football Championship taking place, we look back at England’s past greatest and future prospects. Sir Steve Redgrave Born in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, Sir Steve Redgrave excelled in rowing, having won five gold medals at the Olympic Games between 1984-2000. He is one of four Olympians to have reached this mark. Sir Redgrave’s primary strength was in sweep oared rowing, where he had the distinction of being one of the few oarsmen to have won Olympic Gold rowing both bowside and strokeside. His rowing streak began in Los Angeles during 1984. This was followed by gold in 1988, 1992 and 1996. Immediately after winning the 1996 Olympic Gold Medal, Redgrave had stated in an interview that if anyone had found him close to a rowing boat again, they could shoot him. Ironically, at the age of 38, Redgrave competed in the Sydney 2000 Games and earned his fifth and possibly final Gold Medal. Redgrave, again, announced his retirement and became BBC Sports Personality of the Year. He was made an MBE in 1987, a CBE in 1997 and became a Knight Bachelor in 2001. By 2002, his achievement of winning gold medals at five consecutive Olympic games was voted the greatest sporting moment in the United Kingdom’s channel 4 ‘100 Greatest Sporting Moments’.

SIGNS STAND OUT THAT

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) Your ambition and/or your desire to be acknowledged for your achievement comes to the forefront. Whether it’s professional or personal, you are likely to have an increased desire for others to notice you. This can be a good time to become self-employed or start a business if other factors are favourable. Events taking place now will have a great bearing on your future and will be long reaching in their effects. It is a time when great progress can be made and personal recognition achieved.

ARIES (Mar. 21-April 20) You’ll do well financially. You’ll have ideas that will bring you money, you’ll initiate actions that are likely to become productive, and you’ll negotiate skilfully to your advantage. Shared possessions or income (partner, associates, and family) can raise certain problems. But not to worry as your general shape will get better and optimism is very high this month!

CANCER (June 22-July 22) Dear Cancer, it might be a good time to make a thorough scrutiny of the real you, an honest assessment of your face, figure, health and assets and seek to implement a make-over where necessary. The truly intimate and personal you, needs to be examined minutely and where there is room for improvement, positive action must be taken. Remember, you’ll need to establish good working relationships with colleagues and bosses as well.

LIBRA (Sept. 24-Oct. 23) Recognition, rewards, greater power and prestige, and belongings are enhanced greatly. You’ll feel anxiousness and pressure and they could degenerate into careless acts or even conflicts. A bit more attention to other’s needs and reactions would prevent you from taking wrong steps. If a romance were to begin now, it is more possible to be with someone from a different background or educational level.

62 - 63

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21-Feb. 19) You may be making changes in your job/profession, in your relationships with colleagues and coworkers, health and diet. This is an animated period to love and be loved! You may have a taste for exotic at this time and you tend to try out new things, take a few risks to embrace out-of-theordinary. Essentially, you are looking to expand your activities and opportunities for higher studies, travel or simply new subjects may be presented.

TAURUS (Apr. 21-May 21) You still need to learn to relate better with others, but now it’s more on the intimate and personal level – the exchange of ideas, innermost thoughts, personal beliefs rather than the emotions. You tend to work hard and your day-to-day responsibilities will demand more attention. Perhaps you have a larger workload than usual. It would be wise to find little projects and things to do so that you can guide excess vigour gainfully.

LEO (July 23-Aug 22) You are likely to have countless ideas/thoughts and plans going and you might scatter your focus as a result. If channelled well, this is an excellent time to showcase your ideas and do presentations. If a romance were to begin this month, it would be characterized by a strong feeling of companionship, but it could also be to a certain extent impersonal and perhaps lacking in intensity and intimacy.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 22) July 2012 promises financial chances! The relationships with the business environment and financial institutions will be privileged. You’ll be offered discounts, favours and opportunities. Beware! Your houses of health will be troublesome in July 2012, and the subject needs to be dealt with carefully and prudently. This is the perfect time to research and reflect upon your objectives!

July / August 2012

PISCES (Feb. 20-Mar. 20) This is a very playful period of the year when you are inspired creatively and emotionally. After a period of self-protectiveness, you are now more spontaneous and more willing to take risks. A rich, fruitful and happy phase comes to you and you’re enjoying it. The spice of life is there for you in the variety of interests, activities, and feelings that you are bound to experience this month. But remember; don’t fly too high or too far!

GEMINI (May 22-June 21) July is a time when you’ll truly need to “walk the talk”, stand by your beliefs and convictions. You will have a lot on your plate and most of it will pertain to money – both for immediate needs and future gains. Financial matters become important or at least the main focus, but good moves have to be thought out. Some of you are likely to fall in love with yourself. This is not a weird thing. In fact, it will help in boosting your own self esteem!

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 23) Feelings will be highly regarded or will be connected to something highly regarded! Maybe you’ll feel particularly attracted to people that are high on the social ladder or that stand out by special performance. The month brings social opportunities to your occupation. Satisfaction comes through your career and your business. You’re coming across well at work now, and romantic opportunities, or simply more chances to mingle and network, are likely.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec. 21) Splendid! The stars will spoil you! This will be an excellent month for the couple life. July 2012 promises success with relationships in general, so with work partnerships as well. It’ll be a favourable month to collaboration and association, team work, and interaction with clients. Once again Sagittarius, you’ll have to focus your attention on money matters, even though there may still be some health problems nagging at you.
