Is it because it will require actual work and effort from your part? Think of every time you nagged. It is always about why others are not doing things the way you want. It is never about you, the blame is always shifted on them. Next time you have a compulsion to nag, take a bucket of water and start reﬂecting. That is what I promised myself to do from now on!

‫‪BANAT CLUB‬‬ ‫يف كلية بوكسهل للبنات‬

‫سارة التميمي‪ :‬نشاطات‬ ‫النادي تخلق أجواء ترفيهية وتوعوية‬ ‫سارة خالد التميمي رئيسة نادي ‪ Banat Club‬يف كلية بوكسهل للبنات‪،‬‬ ‫ويعترب النادي هو األول يف الكلية الذي يحتضن أفكار ونشاطات الطالبات‪.‬‬ ‫أسست إدارة الكلية النادي بالتعاون مع جمموعة من الطالبات بهدف‬ ‫تنظيم املناسبات واألنشطة الرياضية والرتفيهية بعيدًا عن األجواء‬ ‫الدراسية‪ .‬وللتعرف أكرث على ‪ Banat Club‬التقت ‪STUDENTALK‬‬ ‫بالطالبة سارة التميمي‪ ،‬رئيسة النادي لتحدثنا أكرث عن نشاط النادي‬ ‫كيف انطلقت فكرة النادي؟‬ ‫‪ ،Banat Club‬هو نادي متخصص للنشاطات‬ ‫الرتفيهية أطلقته إدارة الكلية لتشجيع‬ ‫الطالبات على التعرف على بعضهن البعض‬ ‫بشكل أكرب من خالل تنظيم العديد من‬ ‫الفعاليات واملسابقات الرياضية واملعارض‬ ‫التي ترغب بها الطالبات‪.‬‬

‫كيف مت اختيارك رئيسة للنادي؟‬ ‫يف سنتي الدراسية األوىل يف الكلية مت فتح‬ ‫باب الرتشيح لرئاسة النادي وتقدمت أكرث‬ ‫من ‪ 50‬طالبة‪ ،‬ومتكنت من احلصول على‬ ‫عدد أكرب من األصوات من خالل تصويت‬ ‫الطالبات ألصبح رئيسة النادي‪ .‬واليوم يضم‬ ‫النادي الرئيسة ونائب الرئيس‪ ،‬والطالبات‬ ‫املتطوعات اللواتي يشرتكن مع النادي يف‬ ‫عملية التنظيم ألي مناسبة أو نشاط معني‪.‬‬

‫ما هي أبرز النشاطات التي مت‬ ‫تنظيمها؟‬ ‫كثرية هي النشاطات التي قام النادي‬ ‫بتنظيمها وتنوعت ما بني الرياضية‬ ‫والرتفيهية واملعارض‪ .‬وقد قمنا مؤخرًا‬ ‫بتنظيم دورة كرة اليد التي شاركت بها‬ ‫طالبات اجلامعة ومت تدريبهن من قبل‬ ‫متخصصني ومت تكرمي الفريق الفائز وتوزيع‬ ‫الهدايا عليهن بالتعاون مع منتجع هيلتون‪.‬‬

‫باإلضافة إىل النشاطات الرتفيهية التي‬ ‫ينظمها النادي نحرص على تنظيم نشاطات‬ ‫توعوية ومنها ‪ ،Sugar Event‬وهو عبارة‬ ‫عن يوم توعوي ملكافحة مرض السكري‪ .‬كما‬ ‫مت توفري أجهزة لتحليل السكر فض ًال عن‬ ‫التعريف بهذا املرض وكيفية الوقاية منه‪.‬‬

‫تقدم إدارة الكلية كافة سبل التعاون للعمل‬ ‫على حتقيق األفكار والنشاطات التي نرغب‬ ‫بالقيام بها‪.‬‬

‫كيف تق ّيمون تعاون الطالبات مع‬ ‫النادي؟‬ ‫معظم الطالبات يف الكلية يشاركن يف‬ ‫النشاطات التي ننظمها‪ ،‬ألنها تخلق جوًا‬ ‫ترفيهيًا مسليًا‪ ،‬كما أننا نرحب باألفكار التي‬ ‫تقدمها الطالبات ونعمل على حتقيق ما‬ ‫يرغنب به من فعاليات‪.‬‬

‫ما هي النشاطات التي يرغب النادي‬ ‫بتنظيمها؟‬ ‫هناك الكثري من األفكار‪ ،‬ونحن نعمل يف‬ ‫الوقت احلايل على تنظيمها‪ ،‬منها يوم باربيكيو‬ ‫و‪.Paintball‬‬

‫كلمة أخرية‪.‬‬ ‫أود أن أتوجه بالشكر إلدارة كلية بوكسهل‬ ‫على تقدمي املساعدة للنادي‪ ،‬ويف‬ ‫مقدمتهم رئيس الكلية الدكتورعلي العريفة‪،‬‬ ‫ورئيس جملس أمناء الكلية الدكتور عبد‬ ‫احملسن الشايجي‪ ،‬ومسؤولة الشؤون‬ ‫الطالبية يف الكلية نادية كعوش وجميع‬ ‫أعضاء اإلدارة‪ .‬كما أدعو جميع الطالبات‬ ‫بتقدمي آرائهن ومقرتحاتهن واملشاركة‬ ‫بشكل أكرب بفعاليات النادي‪.‬‬

‫دانة البدر‪ :‬العمل‬ ‫التطوعي يف لوياك منحني‬ ‫الثقة بالنفس‬ ‫احملبة والتفاؤل والعمل اجلاد هي الصفات التي تتميز بها الطالبة املتطوعة‬ ‫دانة البدر‪ 17 ،‬عامًا‪ ،‬تطوعت منذ شهر يونيو ‪ 2012‬يف لوياك وخالل ‪ 9‬أشهر‬ ‫فقط متكنت من حتقيق العديد من اإلجنازات املفيدة‪ .‬التقتها‬ ‫‪ STUDENTALK‬لتحدثنا عن جتربتها يف هذا اجملال‪.‬‬ ‫ما هو سبب مشاركتك يف العمل‬ ‫التطوعي؟‬

‫ما هي النشاطات التي تشاركني‬ ‫بها يف لوياك؟‬

‫التطوع فرصة للتواصل مع اجملتمع والسعي‬ ‫لتطويره وتقدمه‪ ،‬فالعمل دون إنتظار مقابل‬ ‫وتقدمي العون لألشخاص احمليطني بنا أمر مفيد‬ ‫وانساين‪ .‬إضافة إىل تعلم مهارات جديدة وتوسيع‬ ‫أفكارك‪ ،‬وجعلك أكرث واقعية يف احلياة‪ .‬فض ًال عن‬ ‫اإلتصال مع أصدقاء جدد‪ ..‬كل ذلك عوامل كانت‬ ‫سببًا مبشاركتي يف العمل التطوعي مع لوياك‪.‬‬

‫شاركت بتجربة التمثيل يف نادي الدراما يف‬ ‫مسرحية اخليزرانة‪ ،‬من اخراج رسول الصغري‬ ‫والذي كان له الفضل يف حصويل على ثقة أكرب‬ ‫بالنفس‪ ،‬ومعرفة ما أريد القيام به‪ ،‬واكتشاف‬ ‫موهبتي احلقيقية يف الكتابة والتمثيل‪.‬‬

‫ما هي أبرز األعمال التطوعية التي‬ ‫شاركت بها؟‬ ‫تطوعت يف تنظيم عدد من الفعاليات ومنها‬ ‫احلفالت املوسيقية ومعرض الكويت لليخوت‪،‬‬ ‫فض ًال عن زيارة األطفال ذوي اإلحتياجات اخلاصة‬ ‫يف مركز اخلرايف والهالل األحمر‪ .‬كما شاركت‬ ‫يف عرض أزياء يف مهرجان القرين‪.‬‬

‫كيف تصفني جتربتك يف التطوع مع‬ ‫هومز لوياك؟‬ ‫مل أتردد حلظة يف تقدمي الطلب للمشاركة يف‬ ‫رحلة إىل لبنان ألنني أرغب مبساعدة األشخاص‬ ‫احملتاجني خارج الكويت‪ ،‬وبعد أن متت املوافقة‬ ‫إلخيتاري ضمن اجملموعة‪ ،‬قمنا بالرحلة إلعادة‬ ‫ترميم وتأهيل منزلني غري صاحلني للسكن يف‬ ‫منطقة صيدا يف لبنان‪ ،‬خالل ‪ 10‬أيام‪ .‬كانت‬ ‫فرصة للتحدي ألننا جميعا ال منلك أي فكرة عن‬ ‫كيفية البناء‪ ،‬لكن قام أحد املقاولني بتقدمي عدد‬ ‫من النصائح وبدأنا بالعمل حتى حولنا املنزلني إىل‬ ‫أماكن تصلح للسكن‪.‬‬ ‫‪www.studentalk-online.com‬‬

‫ماذا أضافت لك هذه التجربة؟‬ ‫رسم البسمة والفرحة على وجوه أشخاص‬ ‫لن نلتقي بهم يومًا لكنهم سيتذكرون فريق‬ ‫هومز لوياك بكلمة طيبة‪ ،‬وهذا أمر كاف كي‬ ‫أكون سعيدة وفخورة مبا قمت به‪ .‬فض ًال عن‬ ‫اإلحساس بالعامل اآلخر الذي يعاين من الفقر‬ ‫واحلرمان والشعور بقيمة ما أملك‪.‬‬ ‫‪21‬‬

‫ما هي مشاريعك املستقبلية؟‬ ‫إنشاء منظمة خاصة ملساعدة جميع‬ ‫احملتاجني يف جميع أنحاء العامل وتوفري‬ ‫جميع احتياجاتهم‪ .‬وكنت أريد دائمًا بناء‬ ‫مستشفى لألطفال ورعاية مرضى‬ ‫السرطان‪ .‬يوما ما سيحدث هذا‪.‬‬

‫كلمة تتوجهني بها للشباب‪.‬‬ ‫ليكن التطوع جزءًا من حياتكم‪ ،‬خاصة أنه أقل‬ ‫ما ميكن القيام به لتحسني حياة اآلخرين من‬ ‫خالل االيجابية والتفاؤل‪.‬‬

‫كلمة أخرية‪.‬‬ ‫لوياك متنح الشباب الفرصة لتطوير أنفسهم‬ ‫وكيفية اإلعتماد على النفس وحتمل‬ ‫املسؤولية‪ ،‬وأود أن أتوجه بالشكر إىل لوياك‬ ‫ألنها منحتني هذه الفرصة ولوالدتي التي‬ ‫تقدم يل الدعم املستمر‪ .‬تغريت حياتي‬ ‫بشكل كبري‪ ،‬وأصبحت أكرث نشاطًا ونضجًا‪،‬‬ ‫واكتسبت املزيد من الثقة بالنفس‪ ،‬وأدركت‬ ‫أن ال شيء مستحيل طاملا أنك تعمل بجهد‬ ‫لتحقيق ما تريد‪.‬‬

‫األم‬ ‫حب صايف ينبع من قلب ال ينتظر مقابل‪,‬‬ ‫وعطف يفوق كل التوقعات‪ ،‬ونهر من احلنان‬ ‫الذي ال يجف وال يكل وال ميل‪ ,‬وأول ما رأتها‬ ‫عيني‪ ،‬وأول كلمة قلتها‪ ،‬وأول من وضعني‬ ‫على دربي‪ ،‬وأول من علمني لغتي‪ ,‬وأول من‬ ‫عاقبني‪ ،‬وأول من داواين و أول من نصحني‪،‬‬ ‫هي أمي ‪.‬‬ ‫هي ليست كأي انسان‪ ،‬هي والدتي‬ ‫وحاضنتي ومربيتي ومعلمتي‪ ،‬حبها علمني‬ ‫أن أحب نفسي واحلياة وجعل من حويل‬ ‫يحبني‪ ،‬لقد بعثها ربي من عنده لكي تكوين‬ ‫بجانبي يف هذه احلياة‪ ،‬فليس هناك شكرًا‬ ‫يكفي أو عم ًال يويف‪ ,‬فأدوارًا يف هذه احلياة‬ ‫تصعب على أي انسان ‪.‬‬ ‫العائلة لها أساسان األب واألم‪ ،‬فمن دون‬ ‫أحدهما تكون املهمة صعبة فدور األم كبري‬ ‫ومهم جدًا‪ .‬فاحلمل والوالدة والرضاعة نصف‬ ‫املهمة حيث أن الطفل الرضيع يكون عجينة‬ ‫يشكلها الوالدان كيف ما يريدون‪ ،‬فالتعلم‬ ‫بالصغر كالنقش على احلجر‪ ،‬واألم هي‬

‫بعد طول سنني الرتبية والتعب لألم وهي‬ ‫تنتظر رؤية أبنائها ناجحني بحياتهم ومرتاحني‬ ‫فليس مالذ الفرح إال هذا وهذا هو طريقة‬ ‫لتقدير أمي و أيضًا األم ال ينتهي دورها عند‬ ‫ذلك فقط إمنا فلها دور على أبناء أوالدها‪،‬‬ ‫فهي اجلدة اآلن و كلنا يعرف أن اجلدة هي‬ ‫أمنا أيضًا‪.‬‬ ‫فلك التقدير يا أمي و كل يوم هو عيد أم يل يا‬ ‫أغلى انسان على قلبي‪.‬‬

I believe that the woman’s responsibilities should be treated equally with men’s, and her resposnibilities nowadays are much greater than before.

Women globally tend to spend higher fractions of their income towards education and their responsibilities in child raising. However, nowadays, women tend to have extended those responsibilities to reaching positions that require leadership skills and decision making; I think her priorities should include, education, business and politics.

I think she’s the basic of every home of an Arabian family. The problem is that a lot of men treat women as maids and I strongly disagree with them because as they said “Behind every great man is a great woman.”

Men and women should be equal in everything. Woman can do much more than men do. Women’s responsibilities make her stronger because she can work, take care of her husband and children at the same time.

‫الطالبات املتزوجات بني واجبات األمومة ومسﺆوليات الدراسة‬ ‫للنجاﺡ ﻻبد من التنظيم ومساعدة الزوﺝ واألهل‬ ‫بعﺾ الطالبات اجلامعيات يﺨضن جتربة الزواﺝ ﻗبل اﻻنتهاء من التحصيل الدراسي‪ ،‬وهي ﻇاهرة شائعة يف جمتمعاتنا‪ .‬فهل يقف الزواﺝ عقبة يف طريق‬ ‫اﻻستمرار يف الدراسة واملتابعة ﺣتى التﺨرﺝ؟ وهل من السهل على الفتاة أن تكون طالبة وأمًا يف الوﻗت نفسﻪ؟ وماهي الصعوبات التي يتعرضن لها؟‬ ‫وكيف يستطعن التوفيق بني متطلبات اﻻمومة وبني متطلبات الدراسة؟‬ ‫أسﺌلة طرﺣتها ‪ STUDENTALK‬على عدد من الطالبات األمهات يف جامعة بوكسهل‪ ،‬فكانت هذه اﻵراء‪:‬‬ ‫الطالبة أماين األعصر‪ ،‬تخصص تصميم‬ ‫جرافيك‪ ،‬بدأت دراستها يف الكلية وهي‬ ‫متزوجة وأم‪ ،‬ثم أﳒبت ولدًا ثانيًا‪ ،‬عن‬ ‫جتربتها يف ذلك تقول‪:‬‬ ‫زوجي هو الذي يدفعني ويشجعني ألكمل‬ ‫دراستي وال أتوقف‪ ،‬وهو الذي اختار يل‬ ‫الكلية‪ ،‬قبل ذلك كنت يف مصر ادرس‬ ‫العمارة‪ ،‬اآلن أنا على أعتاب التخرج‪ .‬الطالبة‬ ‫املتزوجة واألم تشعر دائمًا بالتقصري‬

‫سنوات الدراسة والتخرج‪ .‬واثناء الدراسة‬ ‫مررت بصعوبات حني مل يتوافق جدول دوامي‬ ‫مع ساعات احلضانة الصباحي‪ ،‬وكان ذلك‬ ‫مشكلة فعليةً ‪.‬‬ ‫ومن جهتها اعتربت الطالبة أمل عبداﷲ‬ ‫تخصص إدارة أعمال‪ ،‬وهي أم لولد واحد أن‬ ‫مساعدة زوجها يجعلها تستطيع تنظيم‬ ‫وقتها ما بني احلياة العائلية واجلامعية‪،‬‬ ‫وتقول‪:‬‬ ‫بعد الزواج قررت متابعة الدراسة اجلامعية‪،‬‬ ‫ولقد واجهت العديد من الصعوبات خاصة‬ ‫فيما يتعلق بتنظيم الوقت ما بني العائلة‬ ‫واجلامعة إال أن الدعم الذي قدمه زوجي‬ ‫ساعدين على تخطي هذه املرحلة‪.‬‬

‫ﺿﺤﻰ ﺳﻔﻴﺎن اﳌﻨﺼﻮري‬ ‫الطالبة ضحى سفيان املنصوري (ام عيسى)‬ ‫تخصص متويل‪ ،‬وهي أم لطفل تؤكد على أن‬ ‫تقدمي العون من طرف العائلة عامل مهم‬ ‫للنجاح وتخطي الصعوبات‪ ،‬فتقول‪:‬‬ ‫البد من تنظيم الوقت‪ ،‬بحسب حاجة طفلي‬ ‫وبيتي‪ ،‬يساعدين يف ذلك أمي وزوجي طبعًا‪،‬‬ ‫وهو أمر ليس صعبًا‪ ،‬حني يكون هناك من‬ ‫ميد يد العون وهذا ما يجعلني متأكدة انشاء‬ ‫اﷲ من انهاء دراستي والتخرج‪.‬‬ ‫أما الطالبة لطيفة جاسم قناعي (ام حممد)‬ ‫تخصص تكنولوجيا املعلومات‪ ،‬فتقول من‬ ‫الصعب التوفيق بني الدراسة واجلامعة‪،‬‬ ‫وتضيف‪:‬‬ ‫تراجعت دراسيًا‪ ،‬بسبب ظرويف الصحية‬ ‫اثناء حملي وبعده فقد توقفت عن الدراسة‪.‬‬ ‫وكوين أمًا لطفل صغري يجعلني غري متفرغة‬ ‫بالكامل كما السابق‪ ،‬لذلك أن أنصح‬ ‫صديقاتي بإنهاء الكلية ثم االرتباط‪ ،‬فاجلمع‬ ‫بينهما ليس سه ًال‪ .‬صحيح أنني أبذل قصارﻯ‬ ‫جهدي‪ ،‬وأهلي وزوجي يساعدونني‪ ،‬لكن‬ ‫يبقى األمر صعبًا‪ ،‬وياحبذا لو تتعاون الكلية‬ ‫مع ظروفنا هذه‪ ،‬فتقدم لنا العون وتراعي‬ ‫ظروفنا اخلاصة كأمهات‪.‬‬

‫أﻣﺎ ا ﻋﺼﺮ‬ ‫سواء يف بيتها مع اطفالها‪ ،‬أو يف‬ ‫الدراسة‪ .‬األولوية طبعًا لصغاري‪ ،‬بالنسبة‬ ‫يل استطعت النجاح بشكل طبيعي وعادي‪،‬‬ ‫لكن يف الكورس الصيفي ولدت آخر يوم‬ ‫يف االمتحانات‪ ،‬واالدارة مشكورة أجلت يل‬ ‫مشروع التخرج وفقًا لظرويف اخلاصة‪.‬‬ ‫علياء املزيدي‪ ،‬تخصص تسويق أم لطفلة‬ ‫يف الثانية من عمرها‪ ،‬انتسبت للكلية بعد‬ ‫زواجها‪ ،‬وتشرح الصعوبات التي تعرتضها‬ ‫فتقول‪:‬‬ ‫أن أكون طالبة وأمًا يف الوقت نفسه أمر‬ ‫ليس سه ًال‪ ،‬فليس عندي الوقت الكامل‬ ‫والكايف للدراسة أو لالعتناء بصغريتي‪.‬‬ ‫أعتمد على مساعدة أمي‪ ،‬وأحيانًا اعتمد‬ ‫على احلضانة‪ .‬لكن مع ذلك أطمح الكمال‬

‫أﻣﻞ ﻋﺒﺪا ‬ ‫أما الطالبة حور حسني‪ ،‬تخصص إدارة وهي‬ ‫أم لولد وحامل تعترب أن تنظيم الوقت بني‬ ‫الدراسة والعائلة أمر يف غاية الصعوبة‬ ‫خاصة أنها ال متتلك الوقت الكايف لذلك‪،‬‬ ‫وتقول‪:‬‬ ‫أولوياتي تعود بشكل مباشر ألسرتي‪ ،‬وبذلك‬ ‫ال أستطيع أن اعطي الوقت الكايف للدراسة‬ ‫لكنني فخورة مبا أقوم به ألن اإلهتمام باألبناء‬ ‫هو أفضل ما تقوم به األم‪.‬‬ ‫وبدورها حترص الطالبة رباب فيصل علي‪،‬‬ ‫تخصص إدارة أعمال ولديها ولد واحد على‬ ‫تنظيم وقتها ما بني العائلة واجلامعة‪ ،‬وتقول‪:‬‬ ‫من الصعب جدًا تنظيم الوقت بني األمرين لكن‬ ‫إذا كان هناك مساعدة سواء من األسرة أو‬ ‫إدارة الكلية‪ ،‬فذلك سيساعد على تخفيف‬ ‫الصعوبات‪ .‬وتقرتح أن تقوم كلية بوكسهل‬ ‫بإنشاء حضانة تساعد األمهات الطالبات‬ ‫بالدوام بالكلية واإلهتمام باألبناء يف وقت واحد‪.‬‬

HOW DID YOUR TALENT EVOLVE?

I am a creative writer but I am specialized in poems that come from the thought of my subconscious mind.

I started by writing lyrics, then poetry, then novel and short stories.

WHEN DID YOU START? I have a wild imagination since I was very young so that helped develop the love of writing that I have today.

WHO GAVE YOU SUPPORT? My family, my best friend Maryam who has also been writing since she was young, and my other close friends who have had to stand my day dreaming mid conversation.

WERE THERE ANY OBSTAcLES? One of the biggest obstacle is that not too many people in Kuwait read and enjoy English Literature.

WHO IS YOUR MUSE? Everything that goes on around me.

TODAY WHEN YOU LOOK BAcK IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO cHANGE? I wish I had gone through more adventures as to inspire more stories.

For more than two years he has been working on the collection that is now available at Thouq store at Al-Mubarakiya, a store for Kuwaiti men who are interested in ﬁnding clothes, accessories, paintings and whatever they need. Al-Rashed said, “In order to consider my line as a Kuwaiti line, I am working on incorporating local aspect of traditional items into my designs. My collection is available at Thouq, having more than 15 pieces, I worked on them for two years to produce the best quality, fashionable item with an affordable price that is suitable for any Kuwaiti man and I pay extra attention that they are so comfortable while being worn.” As for the process of designing, after choosing and buying the fabrics he

works on the design and sends it to a factory in China. There they turn his designs into pieces so that he can produce fashionable items at a very affordable price with the best quality. For the future plans, Al-Rashed mentioned that he already has more designs but he needs to make sure that these designs are implemented in right way that meets his standards of quality without any defaults. Moreover he will be working on high end designs with high end street prices. A lot of guys want to dress well, but the prices from high end fashion designers are usually a bit high. That’s why he is working on providing good quality with very affordable prices. And once he has enough pieces he plans to open a multi-brand store for men.

What are the possibilities of receiving job offers?

We offer current or graduated students an opportunity that allows them to maximize their experience in today’s market. Student can join Shabab Community with relation to their majors in the form of an internship which counts towards their graduation. We built close relationship with all career and student affairs department across all the major universities in Kuwait in an effort to beneﬁt the students and authenticate their work with us at Shabab Community.

We currently have several students that received job offers and now are working in deferent department within the organization yet, we can’t guarantee every student will receive a job offer.

How can they join? We aim to give the priority to those who are known to be dynamic, energetic and full of passion to expand their learning curve. Student can join by contacting any of our Shabab Community Supervisors or visit us at our head ofﬁce in Sharq.

When did you start Shabab community and how can it help the students in their future career? Our Senior Director Mr. Khaled AlHousani had the vision of merging the social responsibility of the organization with the proper manpower support to all our campaigns and by 2009 Shabab Community became active. Shabab Community helps student to get a head start with experience that will be an added asset to any company worldwide.

What is the Shabab community Diwaneya? Shabab Community Diwaneya is the place where students hang out, socialize, play video games and relax after or during a break between training sessions. STUDENTALK magazine will be featured in Shabab

Community Diwaneya for student to keep up with the latest Youth activities around Kuwait.

The salon’s spectacular decoration starts from the turquoise wooden door entrance to the hanging vintage hair dryers. The lobby is simple and modernly decorated along with a hanging TV screen. They also have tablet devices to see the different range of hair styles. The express concept of the store is reflected on its creative finishing, warehouse style if you like, where the floor is simply concrete and the roof does not cover the A/C ducts. Even the artworks on the wall are eye grabbing, and to my surprise the owner told me were for sale, auction style. People are bidding on the pieces right now and new artworks will replace them once they are sold. This way the salon is always redecorating without the high cost. The hair brushes go through a sanitization process in a special device before being used to blowout your hair. It is only human to feel sad once in a while whether you like to admit it or not. Some say sadness is a blessing in disguise; others fear it like death. Whatever the case, it can make you appreciate life more when things turn right side up. But what happens when sadness takes you over like darkness, and you are soaking in the tears of a never ending storm… You cry, distance yourself from the lively world around you.

To some, sadness in its purest form is depression, but that is a common misconception, for sadness and depression are two completely different things. One is a healthy emotion while the other is or is the cause of a serious clinical illness. Knowing the difference between the two, and knowing how to counteract the negativity may save you weeks, months and even years of an unhappy lifestyle! Would you believe it if I told you that feeling sad from time to time is actually healthy? There are a multiple of things that can occur in one’s life that can make one feel sad: such as a loss of a loved one, changes, arguments, losing something. Sometimes, other people’s lives can affect your happiness as well: hearing about unfortunate stories on the news, or seeing it with your own two eyes. And even in some cases you can get sad from 62

events that are not even real: like watching a sad movie for instance, a sad dream, or even make believe situations that you have formed in your head – predictions of what may happen, or your imagination of your worst fears coming to life. Sounds like you? Don’t fret, as the saying goes, “sadness is but a wall between two gardens” a quote by author Khalil Gibran, which means no one lives in constant sadness, it is just a short term period, and you always get out of it. Depression, on the other hand, is a diagnosis and is not considered normal. While a sad person may feel temporarily bad, he or she automatically copes and goes on with life. A depressed person can stay depressed for years! It may cause him or her to lose interest and enjoyment in daily activities, hence affecting his lifestyle. Each waking day is experienced like a nightmare

and may cause the depressed person to do things he or she wouldn’t normally do at a normal mental state. How can we avoid depression? First of all, allow yourself to feel sad. What? You are probably thinking, but the truth is sadness is nothing to be ashamed of, denying it may do you more bad than good. Secondly, express it; cry if you have to, or talk to someone you trust. You will experience a burst of emotion, a side of you that you may never have seen before, and suddenly you realized how deeply sensitive you are. Don’t be embarrassed, like I kept mentioning in this article, it is completely normal, and afterwards you will instantly feel a sense of relief. Feeling better now? Last but not least, after your (hopefully controllable) eruption of emotion, think about the context of the sad feeling and comprehend how can

this can beneﬁt you? As hard as it is to believe, the cause of sadness always has a valuable lesson to be learned. Perhaps you will learn to appreciate things more? Not take things for granted? Bring you closer to other people? Make you stronger? And most importantly, it may help you gain the ability to take on sadness with more ease and control. So don’t stress yourself about being sad, or worrying about future events that may make you sad, instead, be the captain of your own ship of emotions and sail your body out of any storm!

‫أقام لوياك حفل تسليم شهادات “ﳒوم لوياك” بحضور وزير الرتبية الدكتور نايف احلجرف‪ ،‬ووزير‬ ‫االعالم الشيخ سلمان احلمود الصباح‪ ،‬واألمني العام للمجلس الوطنى للثقافة والفنون واآلداب‬ ‫املهندس علي اليوحه وﳑثل شركة داو للكيماويات والتى تعد الشريك الرئيسي للوياك جمال‬ ‫العتال املدير العام يف الكويت‪ ،‬واإلعالمي تركي الدخيل مقدم برنامﺞ إضاءات على قناة العربية‬ ‫وفارعة السقاف رئيس جملس ادارة لوياك وعضوات جملس االدارة‪.‬‬ ‫وباملناسبة أعرب الدكتور نايف احلجرف عن سعادته بحضور حفل تكرمي جمموعة ﳑيزة من شباب‬ ‫لوياك املتطوع يف عدد كبري من اجملاالت وأكد على أن تلك اجملاالت تفتح الباب أمام ابداعاتهم‬ ‫وتنمى قدراتهم‪.‬‬ ‫ومن جانبه أشاد احلمود بالدور التى تقوم به لوياك جتاه الشباب‪ ،‬وأشاد بورشة العمل التى قدمها‬ ‫االعالمي تركي الدخيل أفاد احلمود بأن الرتكيز على تلك الورش تعمل على دعم الشباب وتأهيلهم‬ ‫واكتساب اخلربة‪.‬‬ ‫وبدورها ألقت السقاف كلمة توجها بها بالشكر بجهود اإلعالمي تركي الدخيل من خالل ورشة‬ ‫العمل التي قدمها إميانًا منه بأهمية الرسالة التى نتبناها‪.‬‬ ‫ومن جانبه أعرب الدخيل عن سعادته لوجوده يف لوياك ومشاركته للشباب يف أحد أهم اجلوانب‬ ‫الهامة لهم وخاصة ملن يهتم مبجال اإلعالم ومتنى التوفيق لكل من شارك يف ورشة العمل‬ ‫واالستفادة منها ‪.‬‬ ‫ومن جهتها توجهت نوف الهاجري مدير عام شركة ‪ PH7‬بالشكر اىل لوياك على تعاونها املميز‬ ‫ومشاركتها يف معرض الكويت لليخوت يف االفتتاح واخلتام وقامت بتكرمي املشاركني يف املعرض‪.‬‬ ‫وقامت السقاف بتكرمي الدخيل و نوف الهاجري مدير عام شركة ‪ ، PH7‬تالها توزيع شهادات‬ ‫للمشاركني يف ورشة عمل لوياكي‪ ،‬واملشاركني يف معرض الكويت لليخوت ومت عرض فيديو‬ ‫لعرض األزياء االسيوي وقام اليوحه بتكرمي العارضات املشاركات يف العرض والذي أقيم ضمن‬ ‫فعاليات مهرجان القرين الثقايف بتنظيم وادارة لوياك ‪.‬‬ ‫كما قامت ﳒاة الداليل مدير شؤون االشراف بتكرمي طلبة لوياك املتطوعني يف معرض “ كويتي اكرت‬ ‫من وطن”‪.‬‬ ‫ويف نهاية احلفل قامت السقاف بشكر شركة داو على رعايتها ملسرحية اخليزران التى عرضت‬ ‫يف نوفمرب املاضي وسيعاد عرضها مرة أخرﻯ يف شهر مارس القادم وقام العتال بتكرمي فريق‬ ‫عمل املسرحية وشكرهم على اجلهود الواضحة واألداء املميز للعمل ‪.‬‬

‫‪The Drama Program at the American University of Kuwait (AUK) presented‬‬ ‫‪its production of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple, performed at The Black Box‬‬ ‫‪Theatre on AUK’s Salmiya campus.‬‬ ‫‪Simon’s comedy was directed by AUK’s new Assistant Professor of‬‬ ‫‪Drama, Dr. Kathleen R. Downs, under the auspice of the newly formed‬‬ ‫‪Music and Drama Department. It included such veteran AUK actors as‬‬ ‫‪Nader Abdullah and Yousef Nayef. Newcomers to the University’s theatre‬‬ ‫‪community include Eamon Issa, Amran Aldallal, Yacoub Aljaffrey, Ken‬‬ ‫‪Downs, Nouf Al Mazidi, and Tori Danner. The production crew included‬‬ ‫‪stage manager Nouf Al Mazidi and assistant stage manager and acting‬‬ ‫‪understudy Mohammed Al-Saeed, with Mariam Al Refai on costumes and‬‬ ‫‪Mohammad Saleh manning the light and sound boards.‬‬ ‫‪The company met nightly for close to two months as they diligently learned‬‬ ‫‪lines, rehearsed movement and improvised comedic situations to delight‬‬ ‫‪audiences of all ages. The play was performed before a sold out house on‬‬ ‫‪three of the four nights of the show.‬‬ ‫‪Despite limited space, the troupe ably performed comedic gags and‬‬ ‫‪slapstick routines as they struggled with the question of whether two‬‬ ‫‪completely opposite roommates could live amicably together. The story of‬‬ ‫‪the two roommates, Oscar Madison and Felix Ungar, has been performed all‬‬ ‫‪over the world since the original 1965 production. It also has been made into‬‬ ‫‪two television series, a cartoon series and a movie.‬‬

‫يوم مفتوﺡ يف كلية الهندسة والبرتول‬ ‫نظمت كل من جمعية املهندسني الصناعيني واجلمعية األمريكية للمهندسني املدنيني يوما‬ ‫مفتوحا يف كلية الهندسة والبرتول بجامعة الكويت‪ ،‬اشتمل على عدد من الفعاليات التثقيفية‬ ‫والرتفيهية‪ ،‬مع وجود عدد من البوثات التي عرض فيها الطلبة منتجاتهم‪ ،‬ومشاركة عدد من‬ ‫املطاعم‪.‬‬ ‫وأوضح رئيس جمعية املهندسني الصناعية يف كلية الهندسة فواز الرشدان‪ ،‬أن الهدف من‬ ‫تنظيم هذا اليوم املفتوح جاء ليكسر من الروتني اليومي للطالب اجلامعي يف جو تنوعت فيه‬ ‫الفعاليات ما بني الرتفيهية والتثقيفية‪ ،‬فالطالب اجلامعي وخصوصا يف كلية الهندسة بحاجة‬ ‫إىل مثل هذه الفعاليات‪ ،‬حتى يتمكن دائما من أن يقدم األفضل يف دراسته األكادميية وحياته‬ ‫العملية‪ ،‬مشددا على أهمية تنظيم مثل هذه الفعاليات التي من شأنها أن حتقق شيئًا من‬ ‫التوازن يف حياة الطالب اجلامعي وتعمل على زيادة ترابطه مع زمالئه يف الكلية‪.‬‬ ‫ولفت الرشدان‪ ،‬إىل ذلك اجلهد الكبري الذي عكف عليه املنظمون لهذا اليوم املفتوح الذي حاز‬ ‫وبشكل كبري على إعجاب واستحسان اجلموع الطالبية يف الكلية‪.‬‬ ‫من جهته‪ ،‬أكد رئيس اجلمعية األمريكية للمهندسني املدنيني فيصل الرفاعي أن »اجلمعيات‬ ‫املهنية هدفها األساسي هو خدمة طلبة األقسام من الناحية العلمية ومبناسبة قرب حلول‬ ‫األعياد الوطنية جعلنا جانبا من اليوم املفتوح للفقرات والفعاليات الوطنية‪ ،‬كما اتفقنا مع‬ ‫أكرث من ‪ 25‬مطعما لتغطية اليوم املفتوح باجملان للطلبة‪ ،‬ونظمنا العديد من املسابقات‬ ‫وخصصنا جوائز للفائزين«‪.‬‬ ‫واشار الرفاعي إىل أن احلدث الرئيسي لليوم املفتوح هو إقامة مسرحية حتت عنوان(متى‬ ‫يوصل؟) تقدم معنى للوحدة الوطنية بطريقة كوميدية‪ ،‬متقدما بجزيل الشكر للداعمني ويف‬ ‫مقدمتهم شركة زين لالتصاالت وجمموعة الزاحم العاملية‪.‬‬

‫‪T‬‬ ‫‪I‬‬ ‫‪A‬‬ ‫‪W‬‬ ‫‪U‬‬ ‫‪K‬‬ ‫‪N‬‬ ‫‪I‬‬ ‫‪HAPPENED‬‬ ‫معرﺽ »أنا املرأة الكويتية« للصور‬ ‫الفوتوغرافية لتهاﱐ األيوب‬ ‫أقامت املصورة تهاين األيوب معرضها السادس للصور الفوتوغرافية حتت عنوان “أنا‬ ‫املرأة الكويتية” بهدف إبراز الدور الفعال للمرأة الكويتية يف احلفاﻅ على األسرة وتنشئة‬ ‫وتربية األبناء‪ ،‬وكذلك أثناء مقاومتها للغزو العراقي‪ ،‬بحضور بطالت هذا العمل وحمبي الفن‬ ‫الفوتوغرايف وتضمن املعرض ‪ 38‬صورة من عدسات مصورات فوتوغرافيات كويتيات‪.‬‬ ‫وأشارت تهاين األيوب أن هذا املعرض يلقي الضوء على مناذج من نساء الوطن باختالف‬ ‫تركيبتهن االجتماعية واللواتي يشكلن لبنات بناء الوطن بكامله من خالل عرض صورهن يف‬ ‫جزء يشكل موروثا تاريخيا للشعب الكويتي‪.‬‬ ‫واشارت األيوب اىل ان فكرة املعرض ﳑا نشهده ونعيشه من تصرفات غري مسؤولة تضر‬ ‫باللحمة الوطنية وتنخر بالنسيﺞ االجتماعي وبقيم اجملتمع الكويتي االصيل‪ ،‬حيث أصبح‬ ‫بني األﺥ وأخيه فوارق طبقية وطائفية وقبلية األصل‪ ،‬ومبا ان للمرأة اليد العليا يف التنشئة‬ ‫اجملتمعية واحلفاﻅ على األسرة وتربية األبناء والسهر على املنزل ومتطلباته يف غياب الرجل‬ ‫يف رحالت الغوص على اللؤلؤ والتجارة كسبا للعيش والتي كانت تستغرق أشهرا‪ ،‬أردت من‬ ‫خالل الصور تسليط الضوء على دورها‪ ،‬معتربة ان ﳒاح املعرض يعود للفريق الذي كان يدا‬ ‫واحدة ووقفة واحدة فاشكرهن جميعا‪.‬‬

RED BULL X-FIGHTERS JAMS THRILLS KUWAIT

The first ever Red Bull X-Fighters Jams in Kuwait saw 14,000 people entertained with mind-blowing, jaw-dropping and gravity-defying stunts in front of Kuwait’s most famous landmark, Kuwait Towers. Red Bull X-Fighters Jams, sponsored by Nissan and held under the cooperation of Quarter Mile Club included top international riders Martin Koren from the Czech Republic, Nick Franklin from New Zealand, Daniel Boudin from Sweden and Chris Brock from the United Kingdom. The show started at 7:30pm and the crowd got excited as they could hear the riders warming up their bikes and getting ready to hit the ramp. Famous Lebanese TV presenter Michel Azzi, better known as Micho introduced the event and energized the audience. The riders delighted the crowd performing some impressive tricks and combos such as Backflips, Supermans and Cliffhangers; showing off their powerful machines with leaps of up to 10 meters high. “It was super exciting, the audience was just amazing. I could hear their loud cheering while performing. I’m happy that they enjoyed the show.” said Red Bull athlete Nick Franklin. The show also included the participation of Chris Pfeiffer (Germany), one of the world’s best motorbike stunt riders. Pfeiffer a four-time World Stunt Riding Champion gave an amazing performance and showed the best of his tricks and took the breath of the audience away as they were experiencing such action live for the first time. “I’m happy to be here in Kuwait, the hospitality was great, and people were friendly and excited as they filled the location hours before we started. The crowd was fantastic and interacted with my shows especially when I performed some of my signature tricks. Red Bull X-Fighters Jams proved to be the biggest motorsport event hosted in Kuwait as it attracted a large number of audiences and the biggest names in freestyle motocross. 74
