He has helped so many whom I know, and so many more that I do not know of…. My solace is that I know he longed to be in a better place, surrounded by love and beauty, and I know that now he is… My only sorrow is knowing that during my next big life-event, he will not be there… and yet… his gentle encouraging smile will always be… Dr. Ghuneim Al-Fayez, you will always be remembered with the fondest of thoughts…

Taking the Graffiti World by Storm “Whatever I draw, I aim to make my next piece even better!” This is what has been able to make Abdullah ‘Nizzy’ Al-Enezi one of the most popular graffiti artists in Kuwait. Determination and hard-work have helped him become the man that he is today with some marvelous graffiti pieces around the country. STUDENTALK sits with him to see how he has been able to become the success that he is and what advice he has for any of the other aspiring artists that are planning to take this route. Tell us a little bit about yourself My name is Abdullah “Nizzy” Al-Enezi. I’m just a normal average guy and I attend the Australian College of Kuwait, with a Marketing Major. I have a major appreciation towards art in general but, of course, I picked graffiti since I was 13-years-old and it is what I specialize at right now. I liked it a lot and stuck with it since the moment that I tried it. How did you develop your love for graffiti? I have been drawing since I was a kid. The more I drew, the more I didn’t know exactly what it was that I wanted to draw and I simply had to figure it all out. One day, when I was 13-years-old, there was this person who was one of the pioneers of graffiti in Kuwait called Hisham Al-Junaie, and I saw him copying a piece. It all suddenly drew me in; the colors, the way it was designed, everything about it! I asked about it and he introduced it to me. I gave it a try and it was really bad at first and I got frustrated to the point where I had to keep going and improving. That same frustration lasts until this day. No matter what I draw, I aim to make my next piece even better. This is how I was able to develop my skills. Is this something that you would like to continue in the future? Yes, I would like to be known for graffiti and art. I want to one day do what my inspiration does, which is tour Europe and paint there. It’s a big dream but you have to dream big! I have placed goals for myself. For example, I want to be known in Kuwait, then in the Gulf, and I want to reach a point where I am known in Europe as well. I want to go there because I have been invited there to paint.

If you had to choose your proudest work, what would it be and why? It’s very hard for me to choose because every piece I make is like my baby. I think I have to pick the Bawan Café since it is one of my happiest pieces. This is because I did all the art in the café and it feels as though this is my place and my area. It feels like home to me. There is also another piece I did at a friends house, which was an Alice in Wonderland piece and I was very happy with it. A few friends and I went there a lot simply because of my art piece that was there and was able to give it an atmosphere.

A special thank you to ‘Bawan Café’ for letting us take photos at their venue Who do you look up to for inspiration? Since I was a kid, I mainly look up to “7th Letter”. They are a crew that have people like Saber, Revok, and G-Kae. These people basically dream big and do what people think about doing. For example, someone could say “I wish to create this big art piece that you can see from space!” They wouldn’t say that but rather, “I will create it!” and he did! Saber created the worlds biggest illegal wildstyle and you can see it on Google Earth. It is bigger than an American Football Field. I want to be like that. That is the reason behind the “7th” in my Instagram. It’s not that I am trying to copy them but rather to show appreciation for them.

What advice can you give to aspiring graffiti artists? The beginning is the toughest. When you first begin, there will be people who will be better and bigger. Just because these people exist, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you should stop but rather it should help you to aspire to be like them. That was one of the toughest things as an artist because, when you create a piece that you’re very proud of and then see a much better piece the next day, you think that your piece is nothing. You should keep going to reach their level and maybe even beat them!

Anything else that you would like to add? As another advice, when I first started doing this I had no idea that I would be able to reach this level where people would call me to give me jobs and offer to pay me for it! I didn’t think that I would be here and I am now. It has been very beneficial financially and has helped me become very independant. Keep fighting for the things that you love, you never know where you might end up. Even if you don’t end up reaching your dream, you may reach a good point.

It’s actually pretty difficult to find marine equipment in Kuwait, especially when you’re looking for things that are not very known among the people.

Finding marine equipment in Kuwait is very possible but it depends on what you’re actually looking for in the end.

I don’t really look for marine equipment therefore I’m not very familiar with how accessible they are in Kuwait.

I’m not very sure how easy it is to find equipment like that in Kuwait since I haven’t really looked before.

I haven’t checked recently on how accessible the marine equipment is in Kuwait.

I am not sure if marine equipment is that accessible in the country since I don’t really look around for it that much.

I personally haven’t looked for marine equipment that much but I know a few friends who have told me that it is hard to find.

It’s hard to find but it isn’t impossible for most of the marine equipment, you just have to know where to look that’s all.

For the ‘known’ marine equipment, you can find them but it’s difficult to find anything further than that.

Marine equipment isn’t something that I am very familiar with, especially in terms of how accessible it is in Kuwait.

Locating marine equipment is actually more difficult than it should be, especially when you’re living right next to the sea!

I am not really a fan of marine equipment so I am not sure how easy or hard it would be to find it in Kuwait.

I am honestly not sure how accessible it is to find these equipments since I never bought anything related to it.

A lot of the necessary marine equipments are available but the main problem is that you need to know where to look!

From my knowledge, it’s actually hard to find but for most of the equipment, it’s still possible. May be overpriced though.

I think that most equipment are available in Kuwait, especially since we are near the sea and therefore a lot of people would want it.

If you look hard enough, you should be able to find most of the things that you are looking for, it’s available.

I’m not quite sure but I would imagine that most equipment is actually available in Kuwait.

You can find the marine equipment here in Kuwait but it may be difficult to find everything that you are looking for.

They are hard to find to a certain extent but they are very expensive. Also, scuba gear is hard to come by.

Most of the things are actually accessible except for the advanced scuba diving equipments.

I personally do not care much since I am not a sailor/fisher/etc. Also, I am a terrible swimmer.

AUK Delegates Attend the Harvard National Model United In partnership with “Injaz-Kuwait”, students from the School of Business at the Australian Nations in Boston College of Kuwait (ACK) completed a 2-day job shadowing program with the renowned food delivery website“Talabat.com”.

The objective of the job shadow with Talabat. com was for ACK students to gain a better understanding of how leading organizations operate, to experience on-the-job learning, to network with professionals and, most importantly, to help them learn how subjects taught in the classroom are applicable in the workplace. Professor Jehad Yasin, the Head of School of Business, said: “Our students learn not just through the classroom but also through interacting with successful companies such as Talabat.com and by meeting professional and successful individuals. This interaction provides our students with valuable market experience that will better prepare them for the labor market and greatly benefit them throughout their professional careers. I am very appreciative of our ACK Business instructors -Ms. Johanne Flynn, Ms. Marcelle de la Roche and Ms. Louise Whiteside - for their leadership role and commitment to our students.Also,I would like tothank INJAZKuwait for their unequivocal and continuous support of our Business students. This truly is a partnership which links education with industry and, because of that, it will always have our support.”

The Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) is a student based association that is affiliated with intergovernmental organizations such as the United Nations and its agencies. Each February participants from around the world meet in Boston, Massachusetts, to take part in a 3 - day conference. AUK’s MUN team is composed of Yasmine Abdulwahid, Mohammed Al-Saeed, Nourah AlSulaiman, Rolf Braathu, Ali Kelkawi and Paola Sedas, with Dr. Gholam R. Vatandoust, Associate Professor History, as their Faculty Advisor. Attending HNMUN provided the AUK students with an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the rules of parliamentary procedures. At HNMUN, the AUK team represented Poland. YasmineAbdulwahid, Vice President of MUNAUK, and fellow student Rolf Braathu, assumed the roles of committee members of the World Health Organization. Paola Sedas and Nourah AlSulaiman were part of the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee of the General Assembly, while Ali Kelkawi and Mohammed Al-Saeed were members of the Futuristic Commission on Space Development under the Economic and Social Council. Ali Kelkawi, the current transitional Student Council Vice President at AUK, was part of the Economic and Social Council representing Canada. His commission sponsored a resolution on the prevention of Juvenile Delinquency and Agricultural Development and Food Security. Ali received an honorable mention for his performance and debating the resolution on Juvenile Delinquency. Nourah Al-Sulaiman participated in the General Assembly representing Indonesia. She was a co-submitter of a resolution that was finally approved, and won a Diplomacy Award for her work. Rolf H. Braathu, also represented Indonesia, but in the International Atomic Energy Agency, focused on the peaceful use of nuclear power. He also won a Diplomacy Award for his engagement in drafting a resolution that was approved.

Sun Shining in Kuwait! Great Summer Activities Right Where You Are! We’ve heard it all! “I wish that I was able to travel for the summer”, “Kuwait is WAY too hot!”, “There isn’t much to do in Kuwait”… Well, what if I told you that there are actually some great ways for you and your friends or family to have a great time if you decide to spend your summer in Kuwait? Here are just some of the things that you can do!

Spend Time at the Beach Let’s start it off a little simple, we are lucky enough to be living in a country where the beach is surrounding us! There are many different places that we can go to and enjoy the hot sun and the great waters. Whether you decide to go to a public beach or a private one, you will be able to relax in the sun and have a great time! You can go alone, with family, or a group of friends as you are able to plan a full day outdoors playing games such as volleyball or beach football while take a dip in the beautiful ocean. Summer Camps Do you have younger siblings who really want to be a part of something? Well, there are numerous Summer Camps in Kuwait organized by many different people for the kids to have a wonderful time! If your siblings and/ or relatives are a part of it, why not join as well and volunteer to help out the youngsters with some of their activities? This will get you closer to the children and also help you learn a few things along the way. It’s a win/win situation, right? Hotels/Resorts Want a nice getaway from all the stress that you have been facing during the year with University and whatnot? Well, here is the perfect getaway! For those that don’t, it should not be stopping you at all as you can find various chalet’s to rent with a few friends that have the pools and beaches for you to enjoy at your own convenience. There is no excuse for you not to do it! Shopping Yes, I know I just grabbed the attention of a lot of you here as shopping has become such a massive activity and that should not be changing in the summer! With some of the biggest brands and unique styles available, they are all preparing wonderful outfits this summer for you. Visit the malls around and make sure you are able to find the styles that suit you best. Show everyone who you are with all these great choices in all kinds of different places! Go out, enjoy it, take this break and make it work to your advantage! A talk with the professional Mr. Fari has become a known name in Kuwait through his great music and shows around the country. STUDENTALK met up with him to understand a little more about his background and his future plans! Tell us a little bit about yourself. I’m Mr. Fari and I’m a singer/songwriter from Kuwait. My father is Kuwaiti and my mother is from Puerto Rico. I studied music in Puerto Rico and Los Angeles and, after I was done with that, I came here and starting practicing as a performer, music contractor, and producer. How did you get yourself into the music scene in Kuwait? At first, I was hesitant and I didn’t know where to start but what I did was look for key people to do what I call my first initial step of doing free shows. I played with my guitar alone at places where I felt really supported such as little foundations and charities at first. I did it for free because they didn’t know me and, as people started seeing me doing more, then I started getting paid to do better quality shows and bring in more musicians to my events. If you had to pick your favorite part about music, what would it be? Songwriting is what really made me fall in love with music. The stories mostly; people can memorize them, and this could be a mean of conversation. A lot of people don’t know that I am really in love with rap but some of my songs and the way I build them come from this type of street culture poetry but rapping doesn’t suit my personality even though I love that world! How are you able to get yourself out there? In 2015, we are confronting a situation where we are publicists, tastemakers, and consumers all at one time. As a musician, I see it exaggerated because I’m forced to bring content every day. Your followers and friends are influenced because of that. The line between making art and presenting art start to become one big mix. I look at other artists to see how this works and how we influence them. People want to see things like, in my song “Webcam Girl”, who is that girl? Where do the lyrics come from? It’s hard to find a balance between them. As a songwriter, you look at society to sing something so that you can reflect it but sometimes your creating unlearn reflections from all this change.

Tell us about your album It’s called the “Neon Darkness” and it is basically my transition into a more darker reggae/blues thing. Talking about love when love is tougher, talking about friendships when they’re not always that easy. I release a song on SoundCloud every 2 months or so and see the feedback. How do you feel the students can succeed in this? First, music should be presented as your art life like a nice luxury such as perfume or food. Not all music is good just like not all food is good.

Enjoy these things and create good or ‘tasty’ work; if people say that it’s bad, then remember that’s not fully true, there is bad music and there’s good music that is uplifting and channels your music positively. If you want to pursue this and you don’t make it the first time, then that doesn’t mean that you’re bad, it only means that you need to practice to the right crowd. Credibility of who critiques your work is very important. Make sure where your support and criticism are coming from and find out what works for you. Then, sing and take risks as much as you can and you will grow into that artist you dream of.

For me, I feel that a car that has great speakers and amazing sounds is really important because I consider music a very important part of my life and, therefore, my car needs to have good speakers. Tell us a little bit about yourself My name is Khaled Al Mashaan and I am a Finance major at AUK. My hobbies are swimming and football as I support Liverpool! I also consider drag racing one of my main hobbies and can’t get enough of the thrill. What do you look for when purchasing a car? It definitely has to be a car that I love. People shouldn’t only look around for luxury but rather something that appeals to them. For example, a Ford can be your Ferrari! Also, it is really important for me to have a good sound system.

What would you say is a “must-have” in your car? An AUX! Honestly though, I find the Spoiler a very important thing to have in addition to great rims. Of course, for me a car has to be anything that either has a V8 engine or higher! Do you feel that your ride defines who you are in any way? If yes, how? Yes, I feel that it defines me a lot because I am the type of person that loves speed and the sound of a big engine. Of course, there is no denying the fact that a loud exhaust also helps.

If you were to explain your car in one sentence, what would it be? It’s unique; for one of it, you won’t be able to find 10 others like it! Any last words for the readers? Even though fast cars are very appealing, the death toll in Kuwait is horrific! Please take care of yourselves and drive safe.

Tell us more about yourself My name is Mohammad Bastaki and Im a computer engineering major at auk. I love technology and music, sometimes I try to mix them both together whenever possible. I’m really into the gaming world and I love pizza! What is your talent? I have many different talents but my focus right now is on theatrical singing.

How did you develop your talent? I first started singing when I was part of a company called “One World Actors Centre”. Before I joined, I didn’t know that I could sing. My first performance was in front of the VIP audience at the British Embassy. After that, I started practicing and honing my skills and I would like to think that I am quite good now! What are your future plans? I don’t have any major future plans at the moment but inspiration is always there and you never know what may happen in the end.

Things can change in an instant. Who supported your talent? The people that were there throughout my adventure and have been able to show unconditional support were my friends, my family and, of course, the people at “One World Actors Centre”. I appreciate all of their support and they were really able to keep me going and push me to take my talents to new heights.

Just remember, don’t give up on your dreams! Did you encounter any obstacles? The only obstacles are some peoples’ negative comments but, besides that, I haven’t faced any real obstacles yet in this journey. Things have been going very well in this aspect and I hope that it is able to continue this way for many more years. Any last words for the readers? Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting a tomato in a fruit salad. Just remember, don’t give up on your dreams!

Tell us more about yourself My name is Basil Humoud and I’m a TV and Radio major in GUST. I also studied film at Boulder, Colorado. I have a varied taste in music, I love music back from the 50s until today. I used to always tell friends and family that if I could sing I would but chose film since I can’t! What is your talent? My talent is dancing, mainly Michael Jackson impersonation and others. It is a way to express myself in school and I used to use the

Talent Show to get my voice heard and let people know that you can practically dance to anything. You can dance through life and get away with it. How did you develop your talent? Back when I was a kid, during the Jackson trial on TV, I researched about him and watched “Beat It”. I loved the way he moved and the music. I forgot about it until 9th grade and re-watched it and fell in love with dancing and how u can get a message out by just moving your body.

What are your future plans? To make movies and show the world that even Arabs have hidden talents other than the what the basic shows in terms of Doctors and Engineers. There is a lot of talent in the Middle East and in Kuwait especially that many people don’t know about. Who supported your talent? The main people who were able to support my talent are my close friends and my family. My parents knew I wasn’t very good in school and they were happy I was able to pursue something that I really love.

Become a slave to the rhythm and dance through life. Did you encounter any obstacles? In 9th grade, I wanted to do “Billie Jean” and the principal said I couldn’t because of the lyrics. I didn’t do the Talent Show then and did it in 10th grade. It was the first time that I was able to perform in the show. Any last words for the readers? Follow your dreams and never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. If you don’t have passion for what you’re doing, stop it and find what you’re passionate about and do it. Celebrating Earth Day with educational workshops at new Al Salam Mall branch

Costa Coffee celebrated Earth Day on Saturday the 18th of April at their newest branch in Al Salam Mall Salmiya. Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. To mark the occasion, the new branch hosted ‘Costa Coffee’s Acts of Green’ an event that attracted over 300 participants including children and adults. In line with its commitment to the environment, Costa Coffee joined forces with local initiatives Funhouse and Artspace to offer a four-hour interactive workshop, which included painting with coffee grains and seed planting. During the event children were taught the importance of the environment and sustainability in their everyday lives. It is a short read that hopefully will have a far more lasting impact than the number of its pages. You started a book with a quote by Oscar Wilde. What made you begin with that quote specifically? Quoting Oscar Wilde was very important for me because he captures the spirit of what I am trying to portray here. Furthermore, as far as coping strategies are concerned, humor remains one of the most effective, alongside reframing and acceptance. What was going through your mind when you wrote the book? One day, I decided that I wanted to write a book about my life. I wanted to share my life story and my experiences so that I may be of help to someone who is passing through the same dilemmas. In reality, we all pass through the same struggles regardless of our gender or nationality. So, if I have to go through them and draw my own conclusions every step of the way, I thought that it would be interesting to share this and hopefully I would have had a positive impact on someone’s life at a certain point. This is why I wrote the book. When I started trying to write the book, I thought about how I can write about my life without having to involve others. It was more about my thoughts really rather than about my life. You have been publishing for others for 14 years, what made you decide to write for yourself? Magazine publishing is my career and therefore I publish other people’s words and life stories. When I first started “Men’s Passion” I asked myself, ‘what is my passion?’

One of my close friends pointed out that LIFE is actually my passion and that is true. This is why I decided to write about my passion and start writing books. This hopefully is the first in a series. What was the idea of using equations? Many times, we feel that life is unfair and doesn’t make any sense yet we are asked to live it and try to make sense of it all. And what makes more sense than logic? It is supposed to be abstract. It isn’t about the details of who Zeina is, it is about the experiences. I am revealing a lot about my life without saying much. What message do you pass on to the students who want to be future writers and entrepreneurs? If you’re asking me about where to start as a student, you have to keep in mind that when you are a student, you are sure of yourself and your emotions are extreme most of the time. Whenever something goes against what your plans are, you have an extreme reaction that will sometimes make you freeze. This is where the book comes in. We do not always get what we plan, we sometimes get what we wish for only to realize that we should not have wished for it to begin with. It is how you adapt and come out of it stronger. How do you embrace your destiny and make the most out of it. Each person has a role in life, just assume that role and don’t stop at every hurdle. Build resilience, which in my opinion is one of the most important elements for success. Without using the words ‘witty’ or ‘humorous’, how would you describe the book in a sentence? It is full of contradictions, paradoxical.

Is there anything else that you would like to add for the students? My first go at publishing was through STUDENTALK so the students have always been my inspiration. They are very energizing. I will be focusing a lot on the students and I am hoping that I will be having readings inside universities so that I can reach the students directly.

With some minor yet crucial changes to the phone, the HTC One M9 has been able to exceed all expectations once again as it was released in mid-April. With HTC continuing to grow using the Android software, they have been able to be one of the leaders in the Smartphone world and continue to do so with their latest release.

Sharing the same basic design as the M8, the HTC One M9 has the evident change of the two-tone design as the back has a ridge that connects it to the front. This has helped it become more user-friendly as it has managed to remove the plastic edge between the screen and frame. Furthermore, it is a much easier phone to grip when compared to its predecessor, the M8. It is now a lot easier to use with one hand to go through applications and other pages on the phone. It isn’t a thin phone but it doesn’t feel too big. It is wellbalanced and, I’m sure that most of you will understand what I mean by this, it actually feels like you’re holding a smartphone and not some random toy!

They have been at the forefront of it all through this time and the only keep improving with every new model that they have been able to release so far! The HTC One M9 is definitely a must-have for any Android user, especially those who have been accustomed to using the HTC.

The HTC One M9 is a tall and narrow phone and, therefore, it is a little bit easier to reach the buttons yet it may be quite an issue when trying to reach the top of your phone. The HTC users know the struggle that has been evident with their past purchases! Even though reaching some parts of the phone using one hand may prove to be a slight mission, the overall build of the phone has become a lot more user-friendly. In terms of the camera, they have changed the look of it as well. Rather than having a round camera, the M9 has a square one and it’s slightly raised and is 20.7 MP, which is quite a great asset to have on your smartphone. With everything taken into account, the changes made to the HTC One M9 are very positive. The ergonomics have improved drastically thanks to the new power button and, as mentioned earlier, the narrower body. It looks surprisingly great when compared to the first and second generation Ones as well! This is a wonderful choice of smartphone for any Android user that’s looking for something new to buy. Even though other phones such as the Samsung have been able to make drastic improvements, you really cannot go wrong with the HTC.

Hyundai Northern Gulf Launches 2015 Scrap Art Competition

As part of its greater corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Northern Gulf Hyundai announced today the launch of its Scrap Art Competition, which is aimed at university students in specific, and contemporary art lovers in general.

The competition’s participants will include artists, students and engineers hoping to inform their communities about the environmental dangers of derelict spare parts that litter cities if not disposed of correctly. Hyundai also hopes to explore alternative reuse and recycling initiatives. Art pieces created from the parts will be exhibited at the Hyundai showroom. The event will begin with the unveiling of the art pieces at the Hyundai showroom by Northern Gulf’s management team and the competition’s participants, along with their friends and families. Media representatives and social media influencers will also attend. The art pieces will then be viewed by a judging panel whowill pick one winner who will receive a guided tour of Hyundai’s Ulsan South Korean factory, which is considered the world’s largest integrated car manufacturing facility. Swimming Let’s start off here with the most obvious one of all, which is swimming. If it gets too hot for you, all that is needed is to get up and take a dip in the nice, cold water. Sit in the sun, grab a cold drink, and have a nice outing with great company! You really cannot go wrong when deciding to spend a day near the water. Beach Volleyball Beach volleyball is a very popular summer sport around the world and it isn’t missed in Kuwait either! The great thing about this sport is that you don’t really need too many people to be a part of it. You can gather up a few friends, go to the beach, and make it happen! It’s wonderful exercise but the “fun” aspect will make you completely forget that you’re actually giving your body some muchneeded exercise and make you focus on the entertainment side of it. Skateboarding/ Biking During the winter, it may be a little difficult for you to find a good time to take your skateboard or bicycle out since it may be windy, rainy, or whatnot. During the summer, that is all taken aside as the weather is perfect for you to go out and enjoy some time on the skateboard! Furthermore, you can take your bike to the Scientific Center walkway as there is a lot of space for you to go on a nice and scenic ride! Take advantage of it and enjoy the summer sun with some headphones and your bike or skateboard. Basketball Here is the great thing about basketball: If you love the summer, then head over to places such as the Marina Courts to play some basketball with your friends or random people there who are looking for an extra player. If it’s too hot for you outside, then you can organize an indoor game in one of the many courts available to enjoy a wonderful day out! Basketball is one of the major sports here in Kuwait and there is certainly no reason for you not to be a part of it!

Beach Football Football is no stranger to the State of Kuwait! Since you’ve probably been spending a lot of the time during the winter and spring nights at the countless football courts available, why not attempt to spend an afternoon playing beach football at one of the beaches here? Of course, beach football isn’t really the same as the football you may be used to playing on the Astroturf or the grass, but there is no denying the fact that it’s going to be great fun! It’s a little more difficult and depends more on skill so why not go get a chance to show your skills off to your friends at the beach? With all that said, it is extremely important to keep yourself hydrated and not be in the sun for too long. Launching of ''THE ILLOGICAL LOGIC OF MY LIFE''

Gathering a number of friends, family and colleagues, Zeina Mokaddam launched her book at CAP (Contemporary Art Platform) on the 7th of April.

Published by That Al-Salasil, the Illogical Logic Of My Life, is an autobiography with a creative twist. The book narrates Zeina’s life path, summarizing her real life struggles and philosophical dilemmas throughout the stages of her life up until drawing her own conclusions and coping strategies. In very simple words filled with humor and wit, equations and illustrations, Zeina transcends the details of her own experiences, touching on the human struggle in all of us. The book is a creative representation of human thoughts, combining a number of genres: Though it is an autobiography, it does not delve into the details. Though satirical, it is not a satire. Though it will make you laugh, it is not comic. It targets people of both genders from ages of 17 to 70+. For those who are 17, this book will hopefully make them feel that they are not alone in their struggles and that, with resilience, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. For those who are 70+, hopefully this book will make them laugh as they reminisce over their own laughter as they were facing their struggles. It is a book of contradictions; it reveals a lot, without saying much. It tackles the most complicated issues, in the simplest form. Fahad Al-Musallam Determination & Hard Work “The Final round of Qatar’s International Endurcross was one of the most physically challenging races that I have ever competed in my whole life.” stated Fahad.

“Sadly, fracturing my ankle at the practice lap of Losail’s MX Championship a week before one of the most important races to me kept me worried for days, I was told to not ride for a month! Definitely, that was just an obstacle that I had to overcome.” Fahad chose to drive all the way to Qatar regardless of his fractured ankle. Staying home watching his championship slip right away from him was nothing close to what he had planned in mind. Determination and power of will drove him all the way to taking another shot at winning the second Championship in a row, since he claimed the 2014 Endurocross Champion. “The 15 seconds board was up and the engines were running. I completely forgot about my ankle as soon as the gate dropped. There I was, shifting gears, throttle wide open, found myself up in 2nd right after a couple corners. I stood up and fought throughout both moto’s, finishing 5th place overall.” After the tremendous hard work throughout the season, it had finally come to an end with Fahad being only 3 points short from claiming his second Championship win. This will probably be one of the most memorable races for Fahad Al-Musallam and it has nothing to do with the titles. Fahad was able to fight and, through extreme hard work, he has been able to finish the race with practically one leg! We wish all the best for Fahad in the future as we continue to update you with all the news regarding him and his races with Titanium Motorsports.

Tefaseel An Expo Organized by AIAS KU The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), Kuwait Chapter is an independent, nonprofit, student-run organization dedicated to providing unmatched programs, information, and resources on issues critical to architectural education. AIAS-KU is the first international chapter. ‫ تفاصيل‬is the first student run design exhibition in Kuwait. The exhibition will be inclusive of numerous design fields, such as architectural design, interior design, product design and art. Amongst these professional fields, student work will be displayed. This will create a bridge between the professional market and the upcoming graduates.

Businesses and firms will display their style of work through installations. The theme of the exhibition is ‫( تفاصيل‬Tefaseel) which translated in English is ‘Details’. Each of the installations will harmonize contemporary design with innovation. All proceeds will go to charity. The charity that we’ve chosen is Kuwait Society for the Guardians of the Disabled. All money made during the event will go to the charity.

On April 8, 2015, Al Ostoura hosted a very special evening to celebrate the launch of Lebanese-American couturier Rami Kadi’s brand in their stores. To recognize the significant impact of some of Kuwait’s most preeminent artists in the areas of radio, TV, film and theatre, students and faculty at the Gulf University for Science and Technology held a week-long conference called THE SCRIPT from April 12-16 on their Mishref campus. The opening event was also used to commemorate the life of actor Ahmed Al-Saleh who passed away the day before the event. Attendees held a moment of silence in memory of Al-Saleh and each of the actors present, as well many of the event speakers, each paid tribute to Al-Salah’s legacy and the artistic path he helped to blaze along with many of the people in the audience. The remaining fourdays of the conference focused on bringing both students and the general publicintocloser contact with local leaders in the entertainment industry. In addition to the star-studded launch night, THE SCRIPT hosted a series of lectures by Kuwaiti industry leaders.For those more tactilely inclined, THE SCRIPT included several hands-on workshops. High school students from the American School of Kuwait participated in a free TV and radio production session, filmmaker and scriptwriter Ghassan Abdullah ran a three-day workshop entitled “Setting up your documentary film: From planning to production,” and sound engineer Khalid Omar conducted a two-day session called, “From Location to Post Production: The Journey of Sound in TV and Film.”
