Dear Students, “He who reaps, shall sow” - “ ”من زرع وجد How many times have you heard this saying? And how many times have you questioned its validity as you put in hours, months and years of relentless unrewarded efforts while others around you seem to enjoy the high life with very little effort? “Right is might” - “”ما يصح اال الصحيح And how many times have you comforted yourself with this saying? Wondering if, in this fast moving digital era we are living in, such values still have room to exist? Well, let me tell it to you the way it is: Regardless of the times, regardless of the place, these values that our great grandparents passed on to us are the only inalienable truths that will always hold firm. True, I might not look as old as I sound, but the life experiences I have gone through are such that I feel I have gained enough wisdom to share with you. For all graduating this semester, enjoy the fruits of your hard work as you prepare to take upon you new challenges, and for those who will continue the path, remember that no real joy comes without sweating. The high life will always be a state of mind that cannot be achieved without self-actualization. May you always be true to your heritage, and may your future be as solid as your roots. Till the next issue. Zeina Mokaddam

Cover Story
Fahad Al-Musallam
Rising One Step at a Time Fahad Al-Musallam has been able to make a name for himself and for his brand, Titanium22, as he has been able to show his capabilities through racing in different areas around the Gulf region. His determination is something that we should all look to as we continue chasing our own ambitions. How has he done it? Well, he was able to explain everything to STUDENTALK Magazine.
Tell us about yourself I’m a 21-year-old student interested in Motorsports, specifically in Dirt Bikes, Stand up Jetskis, and ATV’s. I’m currently studying at the American University of Kuwait, majoring in Communication and Media. My motto in life is to dream big and believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. What made you realize your love for racing? My love towards competing is what naturally led me to racing in the proper areas of Kuwait. In addition, having that safe, professional, and motivational atmosphere at each event is what I like the most about racing, and of course what made me get attached even more is that feeling of adrenaline rushing throughout the complete 20-minute Moto. Are you finding it difficult to juggle University and Racing? At first, it was very difficult to manage my time between classes and practice sessions since having more than 4 classes per semester would definitely mean less time to practice. But thankfully, after gaining more experience with the student/athlete lifestyle, everything seems to be flowing, as it should be. What is the story behind ‘Titanium Motorsports’? Titanium resembles strength as an element, and I’ve used it as a motivational method to help me stand strong toward every difficult situation, whether it was racing, studying, or just a simple barrier that I may face in my daily life. That being said, I have even realized that the sport is in desperate need of support, encouragement, and a place to excel in Kuwait. Titanium is the name I chose to represent the sport and (myself at the moment) in hope that one day the sport will grow, be the destination and place for every Motorsport passionate in the country. Do you see this as something you will be continuing in the future? My reply to that repetitive question has always been the same: It is definitely something I hope to be continuing for the rest of my life. You might think that the sport is dangerous, but its not, unless if it was being misused.
22
قصة الغالف
What does it feel like when you start riding? One of my favorite segments of the whole sport is that feeling I get as soon as I put my helmet on and start riding. My soul is somehow connected to that machine I’m riding, and there is literally nothing to think about other than just riding. It gives me that peace of mind, serenity, and freedom. What is some advice that you can give aspiring racers? My advice to all aspiring racers is to fight for what matters, work hard, and to stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone.

Anything else that you would like to add? Lastly, I would really like to thank all my family, friends, Yamaha, STUDENTALK Magazine, Quest Nutrition, SM-Designs, Seven Friday, Ryno Power, the Student Council of AUK, and Bomber Eyewear for always having my back towards my passion with Motorsports.

Student Life University Clubs
International Relations Club Growing More Every Year The International Relations Club at AUK has given the students some different opportunities to be part of a professional team as they show how much they truly care about the students and the different opinions that they have. STUDENTALK were able to meet with the President and Vice-President of the IRC Khaled Al-Rubaian and Sara Al-Haddad to discuss how they have been able to become the club that they are today. What is the IRC? The International Relations Club was founded in 2013 by Khaled Al Rubaian. It started out with seven members and then jumped to 40 this year! The members consist of people that are International Relations majors and other students from the AUK community. How did this begin? We began as an idea; we thought that AUK and Kuwait needs a place where people can speak about International Relations freely. The Liberal Arts University that we are in gives us the opportunity to speak out and have lectures that are related to International Relations, sports, economy, history, which we found as a great opportunity for us to start from. The club itself went further of not just being a normal club at AUK, but it went steps ahead to having politicians that are well known in Kuwait such as Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad and Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al Salem who is the former Foreign Minister of Kuwait. The club further ahead with meeting decision makers such as Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed AlSabah, the former Prime Minister and Shiekh Ahmed Sabah Al Salem, who spoke about the historical aspects of the country, the future obstacles, and how to tackle them. We also have connections today that could get IRC students into jobs whether it was Internships or fixed jobs for the future. How do you feel that IRC can benefit AUK as a University? The IRC successfully opened the University up to the public because of the activities they organized. The media were able to get involved because many of the lectures involved current politicians that made important statements towards the society. We get ambassadors from different countries, such as the Spanish and Mexican ambassadors. In one of our events, we had 14 newspapers involved, which are all the newspapers in Kuwait. It was a fully packed event and we choose them carefully depending on the students in the University to make sure that they can benefit from it. The events are handled professionally and administered by more than 30 members, while there is a committee that selects our guests based on how much impact they will have on AUK students.

حياة الطلبة أندية جامعية
What are your goals for the next year? The goal is to go internationally. This year, we organized a trip to Boston and it worked out very well. Four of the Board members went, which are the President, the Vice-President, the Treasurer, and the Secretary. We worked as a team to represent AUK, Kuwait, and the IRC abroad. We had major events in the US. First, we went to the Massachusetts State House, where we met with senators and representatives of the state itself. Then, we went to the Veterans of War and thanked them for saving Kuwait in 1991. We also went to the schools to explain the importance of the United States to Kuwait’s Liberation. We met with Kuwaiti students abroad in NUKS Boston, which we shared experience of both education system in Kuwait and the US. We are thinking of having a bigger trip next year involving the full club to a closer place, such as Europe. We are hoping to exploit the world since our main mission is to go internationally and we are doing very well so far. What obstacles have you encountered? The main obstacle we encountered was in getting sponsors because the problem is that sponsors are seeking for exclusivity, which is a very difficult process as there are limited sectors that support clubs and organizations. We get sponsorship from the University, but it isn’t enough. Our main event, the Liberation Village Expo doesn’t cost less than 10,000 KD. We have to go to banks, motor companies, etc. One of our main sponsors is Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah who sponsored us last year and this year in our Liberation Village event with huge support and we thank him for it. Also, another main sponsor worth mentioning is the National Bank of Kuwait, who has supported us unconditionally all the way. Moreover, we have Nescafe, Elevation Burger, Asnan Tower, Royal Pharmacy and of course, the Student Life at AUK who have supported us very much to take us from one phase to another. Working as a team is our strong point and the family environment promotes us to be on the top of AUK organizations. Tell us a little more about the Liberation Village Expo. In the Liberation Village expo, we had three seminars and one ceremony. Social Media Bloggers, Athletes, and media were invited as they all came to interview them. There was a historical event about the Gulf War called “Diaries from the Prisoners of War”. The final event was the final ceremony where we gave a documentary of what we did through the year and showed the roles the people had in such an event. Besides the event, we have had an Expo that included up to 50 businesses for three days. It took 8 months of preparation for the three-day event.

Preparing for Graduation
Getting Ready for the Rest of Your Life “Graduation”… That’s a word that has stuck with us for so many years! At first, we wanted to ‘graduate’ from Elementary in order to reach Middle School, then we wanted to ‘graduate’ from that so we can be the cool kids in High School, then came the real test of University. Now, as you all prepare for graduation from University, here are some ways to get to it with a bang!
CLASS OF 2015

Make Sure Finances Are Settled This is actually a little more important than it sounds. It’s quite annoying to prepare for your University graduation only to find out that you’re actually not completely ready because you haven’t paid all your University fees yet! A quick visit to the Finance department will make it all easier for you and will also make you feel a lot better and will lift a lot of pressure off your shoulders. Shopping, Shopping, Shopping… This is arguably one of the most important parts of preparing for graduation. You definitely want to look your best on this extremely important and memorable night and, therefore, you will want to go out and shop for a beautiful dress or a classy suit! Yes, you’ll be wearing your cap and gown on the night, but once it’s off, you want to look great. Shopping for the perfect dress or suit could take a while, so start as soon as possible! Hang Your Gown! Okay, so this may not seem that important, but it’s important to keep your gown hung for at least a week or so prior to graduation.
This will help get rid of any creases and make sure that you look absolutely stunning in front of your family and friends on this beautiful night. Invitations Everyone graduating will want to bring along all their friends and all the members of their family but, unfortunately, that cannot be the case. Therefore, take the time and try your very best to pick the people that you would want there the most. The reasons could be different and there may be a possibility of you aggravating a certain amount of people, but they should understand in the end. This could take a while so try confirming how many tickets you have and who you can invite as soon as possible! Arrange a Gathering? This goes into the previous point regarding invitations. Since you wouldn’t be able to bring everyone along, why not organize a small gathering or dinner somewhere afterwards? This way, you are able to share this memorable night with everyone! You can invite your friends and family to the event and there will be no reason to feel any type of
guilt for not inviting anyone to the graduation ceremony itself. It will be a wonderful way for you to share this day with the people who have been with you through your journey. Capture The Moment This is arguably one of the most important parts of the day: Capturing the Moment. We live in a day and age where pretty much everything is documented on your phones, whether it’s on Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, or just to keep in your gallery. There is really no reason for you not to have various pictures and videos of your graduation that you can keep to look through in the future. You will not regret doing this but you surely will regret not doing it! Graduating is an extremely important time in your life and you should be prepared for the occasion! Make sure you have everything ready and go there with a smile knowing that you are closing another chapter in your life and you are now beginning to work on your future career. For anyone graduating this month, congratulations and good luck!!!

Making Kuwait Proud Local Artists
Omar Afuni A talk with the Performer The music scene in Kuwait is reaching new heights as we are able to see some exceptionally talented musicians show everyone what they are capable of. STUDENTALK was able to talk to one of those fantastic talents as Omar Afuni tells us about his life as a singer, songwriter, and music producer. Tell us a little bit about yourself. My name is Omar Afuni. I’m a singer, songwriter and music producer. I have released two albums independently - both of which I worked on solely; I write my lyrics, compose the melodies & produce the songs. My genre of music is a blend of Pop, R&B and Soul. How did you get yourself into the music scene in Kuwait? I started out as a musician on YouTube posting covers of popular songs. I had a few people contacting me saying they couldn’t believe that I was from Kuwait and that they’re excited by the prospect of a Pop singer with international goals. My songs ‘Resurrect Me’ and ‘Music Therapy’ were picked up by local radio stations and have been on rotation ever since. I’ve also had local TV stations, magazines and newspapers approach me for interviews. Since this last December, I started performing at several venues such as Bayt Lothan – who have been incredibly supportive – and the reaction has been fantastic every time.

If you had to pick your favorite part about music, what would it be? Can I pick two? I love that I can express myself through my lyrics. All my songs contain stories, messages or lessons learned. I’ve had a lot of people tell me that a song of mine helped them through a tough situation or inspired them to pursue their own goals. That is definitely the most rewarding part of being a musician. The other part that I love is performing live. There’s no better feeling than being on stage singing to an audience and having that special connection with them. It’s so liberating. Where can our readers download/listen to your music? My albums ‘Resurrected’ and ‘Soundproof’ are available to download for free, so I encourage all STUDENTALK readers to download them! You can listen to and download the albums at music.omarafuni.com. They’re also available on iTunes and streaming services such as Spotify and Anghami. What have been the challenges that you faced so far? I think the biggest challenge is grabbing people’s attention and getting them to listen to your work.
I don’t think music is given enough attention here and that’s majorly because people in Kuwait are not aware of the great talent around them. I encourage everyone to follow some of the local musicians on social networks such as Instagram. Come to our shows, see us perform and connect with us. I always make an effort to make my shows super fun. I want people to be happy when they leave a show of mine. What can we expect from you in the future? I am currently working on a new album, so I will be locked up in a studio all summer recording it. I’m really excited about the new material I have written. It’s a more mature sound for me. I can’t wait to share the new songs with everyone! How do you feel students can succeed in this? My advice to all students is to be relentless and focused when it comes to their ambitions. You have to believe that you’re capable of doing anything you set your mind to. You have to be smart, passionate and hard-working to get anywhere. Whether you want to be a musician, a doctor, a lawyer... If you want it bad enough and work hard, you will reach your goals when the time is right for them to materialize.

Yousef Al-Mulla
Talent Competition
Which Student Will win the ''Most Talented''
Competition?
Tell us more about yourself My name is Basil Arabi and I am 20-years-old and Lebanese. I am a senior at GUST University and my major is Radio & TV. My first passion is filmmaking but at an early age of 15, I started listening to The Beatles and then I was inspired to play guitar, I used to play piano before that since I was 11. A year after guitar, I tried singing and I didn’t have this passion before since I didn’t believe I was able to do it. It kind of worked out, I love to perform. I love keeping crowds on their feet. I enjoy writing and reading a lot as well. I listened to Indie Rock Bands and I started
believing that if I can sing my own way and get my own message out, it would also work and be inspirational because most people dream of fame and success and they think they can’t because of not having a good voice but anything is possible. What is your talent? I play the guitar and I sing. I’m self-taught because of my dedication as I learnt everything online. It could be soothing or it could be aesthetically pleasing. There is a lot to do with a guitar that you can’t do with other instruments. I practice everyday and when you develop
calluses on your fingers, it is a sign of progress. How did you develop your talent? Beatles/self-taught/methods of recording sound which I am still working on to get inspiration from bands I am listening to my favorites which are The Beatles, Radiohead, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Pink Floyd and The Ramones. What are your future plans? The biggest goal I have is to create my own band to perform in Kuwait on a regular basis, that would be an achievement for me. I want to release my first album either in Kuwait or outside. It will talk about real themes that we deal with anywhere in the world. “Local bands playing covers” I believe that, if someone works hard and thinks more broadly, they will be able to improve the music scene in Kuwait even more. It has improved drastically already. I want to collaborate with musicians in Kuwait to bring everyone together to improve the scene of music. Who supported your talent? My friends and family. Mostly, my friends kept telling me that I am talented and I should believe in myself. They told me I had talent even with I thought that this was just a hobby but they kept supporting me and made me realize the things that I can do. My family also encouraged me as well all the time. They take videos and send it back home to Lebanon. Did you encounter any obstacles? The first obstacle that I encountered is that I have stage fright, which I get over by the fact that I know how to make people laugh. I use that to relieve myself from the stress and get the audience on the same level as myself. Another obstacle is it took me a long time to learn how to sing well since it wasn’t something I wasn’t born with. It is distinctive, my voice. One last obstacle is when I formed my band, I couldn’t find a drummer that is open to a lot of ideas and had different tastes in music.

Tell us more about yourself My name is Yousef Al-Mulla. I am a 21-yearold University student studying Architecture at Kuwait University. I love music and it has been something that I have been wanting to do during my life. A lot of my cousins play music and they always play in the ‘Diwaniya’ and I always enjoyed the atmosphere and decided to be a part of it.
What is your talent? I play the Oud and it is the main instrument that I have wanted to play. I plan to continue improving and learning new techniques to improve my way of playing. How did you develop your talent? I started by listening to Abadi Al-Jouhar and Yousef Al-Mutref. My cousin taught me the basics of music and I was able to improve by learning on my own with time. It is very difficult to let go of this instrument for me.
What are your future plans? It is a hobby for me and I continue to keep it that way because it can relieve stress and make me feel extremely relaxed. If I do anything more with it, then it won’t be a hobby anymore but could end up adding a little bit to the stress. Also, I plan to learn how to play the violin at some point as well. Who supported your talent? Two of my friends, Khaled and Zeyad, have supported me throughout this journey in addition to many of my friends who have been able to hear me play and see how much I have improved. Also, my family have been great, and their continuous support is what helps me move forward.
Keep practicing and follow your dreams. Did you encounter any obstacles? Some of my friends used to get really annoyed when I used to play and force me to stop but I have been able to work through that and continue finding ways to practice and improve without letting any of the negative comments bother me. Any last words for the readers? Keep practicing and follow your dreams. The most important part is to have fun. If you have a hobby that you love, don’t ever give up on it and continue practicing and improving.

Kare Q8
In the Words of Sara Al-Awadhi
I couldn’t be more grateful to have been brought up as a person who has always been fond of animals, ever since I was a kid. That explains why I used to want to be a vet when I grow up until I found out there is no such major in Kuwait. Having as many pets as I want is never an option, but I hope someday it will be. It’s things like going to Friday Market and seeing how poorly and mercilessly the animals are treated there, which that breaks my heart every time and makes me want to do something about it. Up until recently, I thought that the best thing to do was to save up a budget from my monthly salary to spend on buying as many of those poor cats and dogs and finding suitable families to adopt them. However, that will only encourage the merchants to bring and trade with more victims, which made me realize that was not the solution. That was merely me thinking it was the only way to deal with the current situation, which if it were up to me, wouldn’t exist. I’d rather shut down the zoo and the Friday Market for good rather than have animals trapped in such small cages and opposite climate. I’d like to think that the solution to selling animals to anyone who is willing to pay and seeing dead cats on the street every day is people like MahaMullajuma Al-Khateeb, founder and member of KareQ8, which stands for ‘’Kuwait Animal Rehabilitation and Education.’’ (@KareQ8) Kare is a non-profit group of animal lovers and volunteers who devote their efforts, time and money trying to save as many lives as they possibly can. Basically, what they do is, rescue stray cats and dogs from the cruel situation they live in no matter where they are in Kuwait and no matter how risky it can be, in order to find them a loving home, usually after treating all their injuries, medical problems and spaying/neutering them if they are old enough. It’s worth mentioning that there is no shelter for KareQ8’s rescues, so all members and foster volunteers help each other by keeping the cats and dogs that get along well together until a permanent home is found.

I was lucky enough to come across such superheroes when I did, and as much as I always wish there was more I could do for the animals to help KareQ8, I try to remind myself that the least amount of help is most appreciated and acknowledged, otherwise no one would invest their time to volunteer for any cause, I think. KareQ8 also helps people find their lost pets, helps people who can no longer keep their pets to find a new home and they take care of spaying/neutering cats and dogs even if they were not KareQ8’s rescues. Needless to say, KareQ8 does not hand over any of their precious cats or dogs to just anyone merely because they are interested, and I don’t mean that in a stingy or demanding way, but as a cautious and protective manner. One of KareQ8’s most fundamental principles is eventually spaying/neutering the cat or dog about to be adopted or fostered (if they are still too young for the surgery) and doing the same for any other cats or dogs potential adopters or fosterers already have at home. That’s the one and only amount of money to be paid, which is obviously not the price of the pet itself because there is no such thing. Something else the group calls for and is all about would be mercy. After all, it is how we deal with and treat other parts of nature such as its animals, land, air and water that makes us human. Personally, nothing tops the sight of an adult holding a little kid’s hand and teaching them to understand and care for a cat, dog or any creature. If you are interested, there are plenty of ways how you can be involved. KareQ8 organizes two Adoption Days at Petzone (@Petzone1) in Al Rai, close to the Avenues and True Value, on Tuesdays from 4 to 9 pm, and Fridays from 1 to 6 pm. Whether you want to pass by and learn more about them and what they do, volunteer, donate, foster or adopt a new best friend and family member, you are more than welcome!

Bayt Abdullah A Look into the Sole Center for Palliative Care
The sole center for Palliative Care and the only children’s hospice in the Middle East, Bayt Abdullah BACCH is a children’s hospice located in Kuwait as it deals with children with life-limiting and life-threatening. visited the hospice to get an inside look at what they do and the services that are offered by them. Services There are many different services that are offered by as they look to do whatever they are able to in order to give their palliative the care that they need and deserve. Homecare: It’s very understandable that many of the children do not want to be in a hospital. Therefore, BACCH offer their homecare service as they do regular visits to the child’s. There is a team dedicated to this and, depending on the child’s need, the necessary person will visit and do the job there. Respite: Sometimes, they need to rest and Bayt Abdullah make it possible with their outdoor chalets for the families while the children are being. In-Patient: This serves two purposes; First, it focuses on the quality of life and help with living and improving quality of life with their services as they aim to help the children and their families live as comfortably as they can for as long as they have. The second one is pain management and symptoms management as this focuses on managing certain aspects such as feeding. It is difficult to manage that at home and the children come into the hospice with the families for a duration of time until their families are comfortable with the treatment then they are able to go home. Outreach: BACCH work with most pediatric ministry hospitals and regularly get referrals from them. Sometimes, the child cannot leave a hospital due to certain circumstances and, thus, BACCH have an outreach team who will go to the hospital and care for the children through a palliative perspective, side by side with the hospital team. Bereavement: When the child passes away, this is a Service for the family as BACCH are with them for two years after. Since the hospice is with them from diagnosis and beyond, they want to be there after to help the family. There is also the bereavement respite where can do various activities such as pebble painting and attaching letters to balloons to be released from the top of the Observation Tower.

Activities The kids come in for their clinical appointments but, in their minds, everything revolves around play. There are sections such as the “Wanasa Area” where the kids are able to play there as well as the “Play Area” and the “Messy Room”. It is very important because they are going through a lot emotionally and are looked upon as ‘sick’ when they want to be seen as normal. The ones that are able to, go to school and then go there afterwards. There are also a theatre, play-dough, sand lots, and many other activities that the children can do while they’re here. Volunteering Because they are extremely careful with their children, they have to be selective in the volunteering process. If chosen, they can come in for an interview and an overview about Bayt Abdullah and can be trained accordingly. They are looking for long-term volunteers there so that they are able to get close with the children, if they choose to, and to be familiar with the place. All volunteers must be over the age of 16. Some of the options available are: Fundraisers: The volunteers can help with booths and events there throughout their time. Even though it starts off like this, they could end up playing with the children and spending time with them after a while of being there if BAACH sees it as appropriate. Events: Sometimes they need help with in house events, the set up, etc. Teachers: BAACH is looking for qualified teachers who want to volunteer to help the children that cannot attend schools. Day-To-Day Tasks: Helping out with the cafeteria or the library to help organize certain things Specific Skills: Do you have a specific skill such as playing the guitar or drawing? Well, they are looking for you as well!

Supermodels and an Exclusive Soundtrack to the Summer
FASHION For Her
With a cast of supermodels, H&M’s new summer 2015 campaign will be the soundtrack to the season, thanks to an exclusive track by Axwell /\ Ingrosso. The commercial will debut online at hm.com on April 30, before appearing on TV and in cinemas worldwide.
Modern Bohemia sets the mood at H&M this summer, with kaleidoscopic paisley sundresses and tie-side bikinis, as well as tropical leaf prints on long flowing skirts and bikini tops. Monochromatic dressing makes an impact, whether it’s white lace-front tunics, vest tops and frilled skirts, or black knot-fronted gowns and long-sleeved dresses that are perfectly accessorised with decorative silver necklaces. Bikinis are the essential of the season, especially a frilled one-shoulder bandeau with frilled bottoms, or bikinis that are held at the front and side by decorative metallic rings. “This collection is everything I love about summer – bikinis for long days at the beach, romantic prints on flowing dresses for endless nights with friends,” says Pernilla Wohlfahrt, Head of Design at H&M. The commercial and full print campaign stars Joan Smalls, Natasha Poly, Doutzen Kroes and Adriana Lima, who take the roles of action heroes with a mission to get ashore and celebrate the best of summer. Meanwhile, the print campaign features supermodels walking on the beach in a series of key high summer looks. The commercial will exclusively feature the track ‘Sun Is Shining’ by Axwell /\ Ingrosso. Previously part of Swedish House Mafia, the duo Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso are now preparing for the release of their debut album− the perfect soundtrack to the summer. “It was amazing for us to work with H&M on this summer campaign with our new song, Sun Is Shining. We’re always proud to work with Swedish brands, and with summer finally upon us we can’t wait for everyone to hear one of the songs from our forthcoming album” says Axwell /\ Ingrosso.

Summer Is Coming...
Get Fit for the Occasion! We have officially reached that time of the year where we can barely walk out of the house to the car without dropping a sweat. What does that mean? Well, it is time to get your ‘beach body’ on. Wait, have you put on a few pounds during the winter and spring? Yeah, many of us have! Here are some quick and effective workouts that you can do to get fit as soon as possible! High Intensity Interval Training This is something that has definitely been proven to be extremely efficient and effective, especially if you are looking for a fast way to get fitter. High Intensity Interval Training workouts burn a lot of calories in a very short period of time, which is why it has been very highly recommended by many experts around the world. Move More Often! I know that this may sound like something very minor, but take every possible chance that you can to move your body. Whether it was a quick walk or a jog, it will be very beneficial in the end. Take the stairs when you can, walk to your destination if it’s close by instead of taking the car. These small changes will come with some major benefits. Dieting All your hard work will probably go to waste (or not have the desired effect) if you cannot keep your diet in order. Just because you’re working out or because you just burnt a lot of calories, it certainly does not mean that you can have junk food everyday! Cheat days are recommended because your body needs it but make sure you’re following a healthy and strict diet program to also help you lose weight and keep your body fresh.
Fix Your Sleep Sleep is a lot more important than you think. Your body is in need of rest and when you don’t give it the rest that it asks for, it can definitely affect you in terms of your appetite, your mood, and your energy! When we sleep too little, we produce more Ghrelin, a hormone secreted by the stomach that tells the brain that we want to keep eating, and less Leptin, a hormone that tells the brain we’re full and satisfied. These are quick yet extremely effective ways for you to shape your body into the one that you want. Of course, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you need to be patient and work very hard. It is all possible as long as you are able to keep fighting hard and keep your mind and body focused on the desired goal!
Use Your Body Contrary to popular belief, getting fit fast does not require you to join some expensive gym or anything like that. Push-ups, sit-ups, and squats could definitely go a long way into shaping your body. Not everyone can join a gym and not everyone feels enough motivation to actually attend often. This way, you are able to do some great workouts at home without paying anything whatsoever! Avoid Carbs at Night This point is extremely important. “Make breakfast bigger than lunch, and lunch bigger than dinner!” Towards the later times in the day, your metabolism starts to naturally slow down and, therefore, it gets more and more difficult for your body to actually use the carbohydrates when you have them at night. Carbohydrates are great for energy but, when you’re not using that energy, then they just end up being stored as extra fat.

Got that Summertime,
Summertime - Hydration Summer is a global term for fun. It’s all fun and games till it hits you 5, 7, 10 years from now and you start to wonder why your skin is cracking, why fine lines are appearing, and you will start to find yourself showing off the old you to prove that you once had great skin and hair! It’s actually very simple, rules are boring. Rules actually suck! That’s why you shouldn’t consider going to an extreme (e.g. hiding from the sun all summer, because sorry! We need that summer glow), but, you should undergo maintenance. No, you are not construction. Yes, you need to maintain your skin, hair and body!
Maintain your face with:
Hydrate your hair with:
Avocado Half an avocado and mixing it with a teaspoon of olive oil; you can also add a tablespoon of honey for very dry skin. Apply the mask to your face, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes, and wash it off. Your skin should feel moisturized
Honey Honey is very important in a homemade hair mask if you have dry, dull hair. It has restorative properties that add moisture to lifeless hair, making it glowing and lustrous.
Olive oil Works as a natural cleanser and moisturizer. Just rub the oil into your skin and drape a warm, damp cloth over your face until it cools, then wipe away the excess oil.
Coconut oil An excellent conditioner, making hair feel soft and lustrous.
Honey Mix together 2 tablespoons of oats with a tablespoon of honey and a dash of water. You can use it just to exfoliate, wash it off right away, or leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes as a soothing, hydrating mask before rinsing.
Extra virgin olive oil Hydrates hair and acts as a natural conditioner for the hair. Olive oil has long been used for beauty hair care. It is brilliant for nourishing brittle, dry, damaged hair, rejuvenating it and giving it a healthy glow.
You can use different face and hair masks to keep your skin and hair hydrated and protected. You don’t need to go all crazy and splurge on cosmetic products, stick to mother nature, it knows best! (Don’t all mothers?) Now apart from our number one rule – “drink enough water” there are several essential ingredients that you always need to have on board.
Let your future-self thank you! Xoxo, Foodista

Apple Watch Everything you Need... On your Wrist! Gadgets
MP3 Players, Tablets, Smartphones aren’t enough for the biggest corporation in history as they have announced their new product: The Apple Watch! Like they have done with all of their products, Apple have been able to take the Smartwatch to a whole new level. Putting the hype of it aside, how useful is it exactly?
The Apple watch comes in three different editions: The Apple Watch Sport, The Apple Watch, and the Apple Watch Edition. The main differences is the look of the Smartwatch by different combinations of cases and interchangeable bands. It’s the first entirely new Apple product in five years, and the first Apple product developed after the death of Steve Jobs. It’s full of new hardware, new software, and entirely new ideas about how the worlds of fashion and technology should intersect. After many of the customers have decided to purchase the Apple Watch, a question has popped up in their minds regarding this device: Why would I use this watch instead of using my phone? Well, that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? The Apple Watch was designed in order for the user to be able to access all the important aspects of the phone in an easier and faster manner without having to actually USE the phone! Apple makes it a lot easier to just see your notifications through your Smartwatch rather than just through using the phone. You can read and reply to messages, e-mails,
etc. while also being able to make and answer phonecalls. This is particularly helpful during work or meetings so that, when you receive any type of notification, you are able to see them without going through the hassle of taking out your phone and having to look at the screen. Siri will of course work with the Apple Watch. The watch won’t have you typing in answers, it will recognize questions from incoming messages and offer appropriate responses. Or you could use Siri for voice dictation. It uses the most luxurious materials and it’s more discreet and elegant than the majority of its rivals. That’s the least we expected from Apple and from something that costs more than the alternatives, though. The casing, which is made from stainless steel, has a lovely polished sheen, while ceramic glass protects the heart rate sensor on the back. The Watch is beautifully constructed, though the Watch complements a smart shirt better than something more casual. Now, let’s take a quick look at the specifications of this Smartwatch: The most immediately apparent of these is
the Digital Crown, which lets users scroll, zoom and navigate their way around the screen quickly and easily without interfering with information displayed. The Glances functionality, meanwhile, puts the wearer instantly in touch with the information they care about most - from the weather to sports results and more, and Digital Touch lets users interact with other users by tapping or doodling. Inside, the Apple Watch features the new S1 “system-on-a-chip”, which was built specifically for the smartwatch. It also has an optical heart rate sensor on the rear of the case and contains standard fitness sensors including an altimeter, gyroscope, pedometer and accelerometer. Is the Apple Watch worth it? Well, it’s quite hard to say right now as it mainly depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re someone who’s interested in owning a Smartwatch, then there is definitely no going wrong with getting yourself one of the watches from Apple, but you will need to have an iPhone as well to be able to use all the functions of this. It’s the most technological Smartwatch out right now so it would surely be a great purchase!

Daniel Niederer The Founder of SEVENFRIDAY Watches
Could you please tell us about the beginning of SevenFriday adventure, how did everything start? In the ten years working with various brands and restructuring companies, I came to understand that I disagreed with many practices common in the industry. I concluded that I needed to go on my own to truly follow my beliefs and convictions! The vision was to create a brand and a working environment which is driven by passion and ideals rather than obligations and industry standards, a place where we try to make everyday count for us as well as others. Did you expect this great success in such a short time? What is your secret? We didn’t expect it at all like this and I have to disappoint you…there is no secret winning formula..Other that we try to do everything with passion, sincerity and transparency, to cut away the bullshit and focus on our beliefs! We are doing things differently, not just our inspiring designs, but also the way we represent a lifestyle that many people relate to. This combination has led to a large community of friends that understand the Sevenfriday philosophy. Social media helped us to reach our friends in a very fresh and efficient manner and we try to meet many member of community in person by organizing gettogethers globally. What is your main focus and target now? Our target is to keep surprising everyone, keep improving and get better in everything we do. Since the beginning, innovation and creativity has been one of our major strengths, and we intend to stick to our values and we believe, we are working an a lot of new concepts which will also go beyond wrist watches…
68
Before the M-Series, we were all curious about if you have anything else for the future. And you show up with a totally new design… Do you have more surprises for the upcoming years? Creativity is SEVENFRIDAY’s promise and we will have to keep proving this point every year all over again. So yes, some bigger surprises are to be expected in the second half of this year…and in 2016….and so on… SevenFriday is a real social media phenomenon now, is it one of the key ingredients of the brand’s success? Brands today are not created by social media, brands that are straightforward, deliver what they respresent and have an open relationship with their client will see the benefit of social media.

Fierce folk meets seventies boho to create Nero. Black dominates, steering the collection away from pretty and feminine, creating a sultry harder edge, whilst subtle hints of glam jacquards and touches of metallic add interest to the dark palette. Texture is key, teaming super soft bikers with leather trousers and suede fringed capes. A soothing palette of whites and creams creates the contrasting sub-trend Modern Bohemian. White lace, embroidery and cutwork combine for a softer approach with a haute hippie feel, touches of tan and fringing toughen up the overall feel of the collection. Ghetto sport meets urban glam with a 90’s influence to create Glamathon Mono. With a simple monochrome palette, splashes of bold colour are added to keep the range refreshing and young. This collection uses clean modern lines for a luxurious minimal feel. Details are added through sporty stripes and curved color blocking on tailored separates and dresses. Playing with new proportions and sporty elements, silhouettes are elongated, incorporating longer lengths and asymmetry. Mesh paneling is placed on clean tailoring for an urban cool vibe.
