“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” (William Shakespeare - As You Like It: Act II, Scene 7) And so here the performer’s have exited the studio, the theater, and the club, and hit the streets, which become the stage and set where the real and the fictitious face off in these celebrity portraits: photographs which most often are a collaboration between photographer and subject, the success of which begins with the spontaneity of the subjects performing for the camera. “Tutto il mondo è una palcoscenico, e gli uomini e le donne sono soltanto attori.” (William Shakespeare Come vi piace: Atto II, Scena 7) E così qui gli attori sono usciti dallo studio, dal teatro e dal club, e sono scesi in strada, che diventa palcoscenico e ambiente in cui il vero e il fittizio si sfidano in questi ritratti di celebrità: fotografie che molto spesso sono una collaborazione tra fotografo e soggetto, il cui successo inizia con la spontaneità dei soggetti che si esibiscono per la fotocamera. “Celebrities John Drooyan” is the photographic story of actors encountered on streets of Southern California, captured by the camera lens. Each of them is already a celebrity and John Drooyan once again proves his artistic ability because he offers to the naturalness of these theatrical characters the possibility of becoming “celebrity portraits” and of telling about them with wise images rich in light. The stage is no longer inside the theater but becomes the world itself. The boundary between reality and fiction is annulled and each character becomes tangible objectivity in spite of the rigid immobility of the usual. “Celebrities John Drooyan” è il racconto fotografico di attori scesi per le strade della California del Sud, colti dall’obbiettivo della macchina fotografica. Ognuno di loro è già una celebrità e John Drooyan dà ancora una volta dà prova della sua abilità di artista poiché offre alla naturalezza di questi personaggi teatrali la possibilità di diventare “ritratti di celebrità” e di narrare se stessi per immagini sapienti ricche di luce. Il palcoscenico non è più dentro il teatro ma diventa il mondo stesso. Il confine tra realtà e finzione si annulla e ogni personaggio diviene oggettività tangibile a dispetto della rigida staticità del consueto. Dino Marasà
