io scarpa! artists talk about gli artisti raccontano

The freedom to be oneself and to discover the world is a right and a duty of us all. The red shoe is spokesperson. This makes us free and aware of our being part of the stage of reality. The artists of the Red Shoe live it and represent it at the same time, in all its infinite facets of human and natural beauty.

I… SHOE! I could not believe it! It all began that day when they took me to the warehouse and they exhibit me. Every morning, at the opening and closing, the shop assistant dusted me, fixed me and opened the shop’s door giving the start of people’s coming and going. I do not hide the immense annoyance I felt when they touched me, intrigued and attracted by my color and my class. Everyone wanted to try me, they took four steps with me, they admired me in the mirror and undecided they placed me again. The shop assistant always placed me in the usual place and I remained immersed in my thoughts.

io… scarpa!

You’ll wonder who I am. I’m a shoe, a red shoe, an elegant and evening shoe, proud of my classic style, for women who want to be noticed. Every day I felt the desire to escape, I was there to think and hoped that someone don’t take me away.

THE ARTISTS The project was born in 2008 from the collaboration of artists Rosa buccheri, Eleonora Catania, giuseppe Mario Frezza e Teresa Zingale, who want to tell the discomfort and sore of life of those who feel harnessed and imprisoned. The red shoe is symbolf of all who want to break all the limits of human conventions, acquires a soul and decides to change the status to be an object to live 24 hours as a protagonist. The shoe identifies the wearer and enhances the person wearing it. With extraordinary ease, it makes us believe we are unique in the world.
