News Sturgis Rumbles
Autumn is here and the colors were spectacular this year! Hopefully everyone got out and enjoyed the changing of the leaves.
The Holiday Fashion Line is also spectacular this year. The colors are cool, bright and vivid. There are limited holiday ornaments and Christmas cards to get you ready for the holidays. Please don’t procrastinate. Stop into Sturgis HarleyDavidson and check it out. This season, be sure you get your motorcycle winterized. We carry battery tenders, indoor and outdoor motorcycle storage covers to get yourself ready. If you have any questions, Doug would be more than happy to help you with them. (It is not too early to consider some Christmas ideas!) Our MotorClothes team suggests a 3-in-one jacket for those early chilly mornings and warm afternoon rides. They are functional and look great too. We also carry thermal undergarments for additional warmth.
Spruce up your home with the new Willie G. wall décor. It is indoor/outdoor and made from rust free, recycled aluminum with water-resistant finishes to last a lifetime. Also, it is handcrafted proudly in the U.S.A!!! We also carry an indoor/outdoor clock as well as a Harley-Davidson mailbox to give your home great curb appeal. Please stop into Sturgis Harley-Davidson for our 2nd Annual Blood Drive on Saturday November 15th. Last year was a huge success and we would like to strive to make it another successful year. It is a great way to give back to your community. If you would like to donate please call Sturgis HarleyDavidson at 605-347-2056 and Tammy can set you up with an appointment to avoid the wait. We can’t wait to see you! The coffee is on…. Don’t forget Daylight Savings Time in November 2nd.

The cold weather is soon to be upon us and the dreaded task of putting our bikes away for the season is here. As you know BHHD is offering an excellent winter storage program for those of you that wish to take advantage of or just don’t have the room. For those that are fortunate to have the space available, we would like to offer a few suggestions: • • • • • • • • •
Fill the gas tank full and add fuel stabilizer Change the oils. (Used oil contains acids and contaminates that can be harmful to metal parts) Remove spark plugs and squirt a small amount of oil into cylinders Air up tires to mfg. recommendation Wash and wax bike Install battery tender lead/battery tender Cover bike with a breathable cover (non-breathable covers cause condensation and rust) Have all needed repairs performed prior to storage Starting an engine for a short period of time every month is not a recommended practice. This only tends to create unwanted moisture inside your engine. • Now is also a good time to clean and oil your riding gear. Remember, leather needs love too. If you have any questions, please call or stop into the service department.

Heated Clothing Enhancements A completely reengineered heating system integrates Nanowire technology and GHC High Density Heat system. Nanowire technology features a patented process of using silvered fibers
stitched into a fabric and then waterproof sealed. This heating system is strategically placed throughout the garment to provide intense, but uniform heat coverage. In addition, all connecting wires are fine stranded and of smaller gauge, and then
routed through “channels” to keep wires where they will be least noticeable. Heated Gloves Enhancements The new Heated Gloves feature Microwire heating technology, a patented process of using micro-
sized stainless steel fibers that are inter twined and encased in a Teflon coating. The Microwire is woven into a heating matrix within the glove. This system is the most durable and ef ficient heating technology ever developed.

Director’s Corner We had our first social at the dealership and it was wonder ful to see ever yone there. During the program portion of the social Dave and his team of merry FUGers were talking about winning the challenge during the 105th in Milwaukee. They seem to forget that they had conceded the win to my team and I had to bring to their attention that they sounded like Al Gore during his presidential bid… “I concede, but I don’t really…..” Needless to say we had a good time and it was wonderful to give the appropriate harassment to Dave. Really, we did discuss some business. Among that was the 2008 Member Riding Sur vey that Ahrlin talked about. Again, kudos to the road captains for a wonder ful job this past riding season. If you weren’t at the meeting, and want to have your input be heard, please contact Ahrlin or Clay for a sur vey.
The November social, which is on the 13th, will feature our ‘world famous chili cook off contest.’ Anyone that is interested in participating please bring a crock pot full of your special brand of chili for judging. Prizes will be awarded to the top award getters. It always proves to be a fun-filled evening with lots of …..dare I say gas???? So don’t forget your Beano!!!! The cook off will start at 7:00, so if you are going to participate, please arrive shortly before that time. Additional chili will be provided by the dealership. The other subject that was broached at this past social was the Parade of Lights. If you have an interest in helping with this project, please contact Clay or myself. As Matt stated, we have some ‘hardware’ to defend. The chapter did win a trophy (currently located in Clay’s office). Fun was had by all that helped/rode in the parade. We also talked about the Holiday Party which is scheduled for January 17th. We have scheduled Abbey Someone as the band and

the game for you betting enthusiasts will be the horse racing that we had at the last men’s night. I understand that it was a good time (I, however, was out of town bringing home the bacon for Kelly to cook). But the feedback that I heard was that it is just like being at the actual race. Ahrlin even had cold beer for everyone…what a guy…God love ya man. There isn’t anything better that drinkin’ cold beer and bettin’ on a horse race. So remember, just because we might be done riding, doesn’t mean that we are the least bid done with having fun. I know, I know, that does come as a shock to some of you, but we have been known to get bored during the nonriding season. Until next time— Marty
