Jordan Giant Female Blogger Of The Month interview by Saleena Hax - Hello Stylers, I had the pleasure of interviewing Style Kingdom’s female blogger of the Month, Jordan Giant! I found her delightful and very easy going. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did!

SH: What is the one thing you wish you had blogged before anyone else? JG: I can't think of an item right now. And like I said above... for me those things are not important... like having things first, blog it first etc.

Saleena Hax: What prompted you to start blogging? Jordan Giant: I I hardly can't say. I spent a lot time thinking about it and a few friends pushed me to finally start a blog, especial for my interior setups. Since I got a lot of Flickr messages in the past about certain outfits details... well you know... 'Where did you get this and that' I put fashion on it. I just wanted to share my creativity and have kind of a photobook with the things I loved, since nothing is permanent in here... it’s lovely to remember some things here and now.

SH: Who influences you? JG: The things I love. May it be a TV show, music, a movie, a game... the life around me... I think everything.

SH: When you style, do you think ahead to the final picture and try to create a mood around the clothing or do you just let things flow? JG: I think letting things flow is the best. Mostly i listen to music or i am in a mood, that should be represented with the outfit.

SH: Want to do a duo blog post with me sometime? JG: Sure, why not. Thank you Jordan and I think we can expect great things from you in the future! It was a great pleasure so everyone, keep an eye out for this little lady! Jordan Giant’s Blog:

Blog: http://callustrinkets.wordpress.com/ Stay styled, angels! This is Saleena Hax signing off! xo

SH: What are some of your favorite blogs and why? JG: Oh there are a lot I like. The ones I appreciate the most are on my blogroll. Mostly because they have a great creativity around their outfits and not just boring blogpics. There is mostly a story behind their posts that I really like. SH: Are you also part of other social media sites like Pinterest, Twitter, Linkedin, etc? JG: no... Really I don't use Facebook or plurk or anything. I use Flickr... and last.fm but that's all. SH: If you could blog for any brand, what would it be? JG: i have to say, most of my favorites sponsor me already and I am thankful for not having strict guidelines, like blog something in a certain time. This is very important to me, because doing something because I must is just....not my thing. And I didn't start the blog for getting free stuff, I just wanted to share myself.

Zeke Jestyr Male Blogger Of The Month interview by Saleena Hax - Hello Stylers, I was given the distinct pleasure of interviewing SK's Male Blogger of the Month, Zeke Jestyr and I hope you find it as charming and fresh as I did! So read on, have fun and enjoy! Saleena Hax: What prompted you to start blogging? Zeke Zestyr: I use to read a lot of blogs back a few years ago looking for stuff to wear, as one does. I noticed it was mostly female bloggers and items. Back then you could get away with wearing some of the female items but as soon as mesh came out that almost ceased completely. So I decided to make a resource kind of where guys wouldn't have to go looking through tons of female blogs looking for stuff. At least that was my original mission statement, and thankfully lots of male blogs have popped up since then too. SH: When you style, do you think ahead to the final picture and try to create a mood around the clothing or do you just let things flow? ZJ: I do both. Sometimes I'll get a final picture in my head and style around that. Sometimes I'll find/receive an item that instantly paints a picture in my head and I work on that. Or even sometimes I explore a sim that screams a certain mood or style. So I guess I let things flow. It tends to work better when the mood dictates me instead of the other way around. SH: What other blogs are you a part of? ZJ: I just blog for myself. SH: What are some of your favorite blogs and why? ZJ: That's a tough one because I have quite a few. Carthalis and Bouncer are two of the earliest male bloggers I use to follow, and I still do. Hikaru because, well, his blog is just so pretty. More recently Ton Thumper and U10+ always catch my eye and they are usually wearing something I haven't seen and must have. They are definitely good for finding the more obscure (to me anyways) items. And I have to put a plug in for Cane em Abel, he's just starting out but he really evokes emotion in his posts. Tiana Omizu also shares my horn/wing fetish so I make sure to see what goodies she finds. SH: Are you also part of other social media sites like Pinterest, Twitter, Linkedin, etc? ZJ: I do have Facebook, yes boo hiss, but I've found it works well to interact and get to know fellow bloggers/designers in ways that I haven't had in SL. Leaving a quick funny comment on a post doesn't feel as intrusive as getting all up in someone's IM, at least to me.

SH: If you could blog for any brand, what would it be? ZJ: That's another difficult one. So many brands I would love to represent. Although if I base it purely on the fact I either own the entire store already or wish I did then probably would be a toss-up between Del May, Ronsem, and Villena/Pumpkin. SH: What is the one thing you wish you had blogged before anyone else? ZJ: Hrm I don't really see blogging as a competition of who posts first. I think everyone has their unique styles and appeals to various readers. I do try and present items in a different way than others or perhaps take something you'd expect in one style like fantasy and place it in an urban setting. If you make something look good and someone want to go out and buy it then it doesn't matter if you're the first to post or the last. SH: Best blog you have ever read? ZJ: I couldn't and wouldn't want to pick just one so I'll just refer to my favorite blogs earlier. SH: Who influences you? ZJ: There are a lot of people on my Flickr who constantly amaze me with their photography. Hikaru/Petra, 8f8, Amelie, Tomais to name a small few. I'm also influenced by designers and sim creators who create this playground we all exist in, without them we'd all be naked on sky platforms. And then there are people like Eddi Haskell, Joshuan Banx, RFL, and events/people who try to bring awareness to others. So I guess that translates to almost everyone! SH: Want to do a duo blog post with me sometime? ZJ: Sure! Thank you Zeke and I encourage everyone to keep an eye on this

blogger, I think we will see a lot of his work in the coming days! Here are his links so take a peek! Blog: http://justjestyr.wordpress.com/ Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jestyrboy/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/zeke.jestyr Until we regroup, this is Saleena Hax signing off! xox

Ka y a A n g e l “Building the World Anew”

BUILDER OF THE MONTH

“Through building in SL I've learnt so much about myself and have a much deeper love for the arts in all forms.”

Article by Prisilla S. Avro-Kaya Angel came to Second Life®over nine years ago when he learned of a place that allowed people to create whatever their imaginations inspired. “To be honest my first interest was the psychology of that... I did wonder what people would do given the chance to start again and build a new world from scratch.” In his explorations of SL at the time he found that many builds were structured around malls. “It was very understandable because money is the back bone of the virtual world just as much as it is in RL.” Angel knew this would not be the case for him when he set to building. “What

would I do given the chance to build the world anew? The result was Angel Manor.” He goes on to explain that “Angel Manor Estate aims to celebrate music, art, architecture, community, nature and what experiences can be had in a virtual environment. Its run by a small team or family as we like to call ourselves - made up of Kezzy Forwzy who does event logistics and bookings, Ranadeep who is the art gallery curator and Kylie Skyborne who used to be gallery curator but is now focusing on her own fashion line.” Angel reflected on the importance of the residents and guests of

Angel Manor Estate. They “show tremendous support and bring the place to life. Over the years it’s become a very special place to many people and after many requests for people to live here I started to add apartments with in the palace and grounds. It has grown in size but also in what it means to more and more people. After a point I started to realize that it meant a lot to people and they really enjoyed it.” Angel has received many encouraging and appreciative comments from residents and guests over the years. “With comments like that it kind of becomes a duty to carry on working hard.” When asked about his history as a builder in SL, Angel admitted that he didn’t start building right away. He explained that he had spent his first year on the grid exploring, but that it didn’t take him long to begin experimenting. “I've been building in SL for about 8 years and although I did explore a number of different styles I just loved to build grand regal structures. I love their power to evoke emotion. Modern buildings are often about practicality and statement. Their spaces do often have a power to make you live in a specific way and can be very beautiful. But a grand architectural structure with textures that illustrate human craftsmanship have a much more powerful ability to evoke very real emotion.” Angel feels most successful with his builds when people who experience them share their reactions with him. “I’m always surprised when people talk about how my buildings or environments have moved them in some way. I don't think it’s what many people expect from a virtual environment and is why it not only surprises me but them also. I build because I love to be creative and see what my mind can come up with. I love that I can have an emotion in mind and build something that aims to capture that and when people send me a comment in which they describe the emotion I tried to capture... well that’s the most rewarding feeling!” As a builder, Angel draws on the “majesty of human emotion.” He explains, “I like to take time to live in the moment and take note of the world around me. I like to be aware of the air I breathe and the sights before me. The people around me and take note of both the beauty and pain in the world. As both love and hate define each other one can't exist without the other. This awareness is something I like to capture in SL.' “Making spaces you can get lost in so you’re forced to take things in. You can't just teleport around the place and have to really be aware of where you are and what you have seen and done. The attention span is short in the SL community and it’s hard to get people just to stop and take things in. I add full sound-scape and very appropriate music to my spaces to really enhance the whole experience. “ I think anyone who has been here a long time can understand how a virtual environment can really connect with you. For the good I think

also! It allows you to explore who you are without the mass of social rules and expectation of RL society and culture. Through building in SL I've learnt so much about myself and have a much deeper love for the arts in all forms.” “There is no short cut to building,” Angel advises. “I get so many people asking questions and find so often that people just don't have the patients. I often respond with ‘are you building what you love to build?’ For many they build things that they need or that they think will make money. So it’s very understandable why they would get fed up so quickly.” “If you are really doing something you love then you will not get board of it. And each point of learning fuels more desire to get better. Don't build something that's not your passion. It will put you off building altogether! It has to be fun! Don't think about money or practicality when learning. If you love what you do you will get good and if you get good money will follow. Let your joy be your guide in what you do here, not money. “ Angel welcomes visitors to Angel Manor Estates. “Come and enjoy the estate as it’s here for you. Wander the buildings and the grounds and take it in.” He adds with a grin, “I do sell building and furniture but I don't have a mall for this. It's often hard to find but after so many requests I did start making buildings for people which capture the spirit of Angel Manor and the grand, high detail texturing which I think many see as one of my trademarks. But if you look hard enough you will find them, but only after you have explored my palace to the arts.” http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Angel%20Manor/5/185/22 http://www.impl.org.uk https://www.youtube.com/user/ThePurpleRoseTheatre/videos https://www.facebook.com/AngelManor?ref_type=bookmark https://www.facebook.com/kaya.angel.169

Reign Congrejo Defining a New Reality

“Defining reality before anyone can and in a way that maintains hope, bolsters morale, and empowers people.” Foster W. Mobley, Ed.D

By Prisilla S. Avro- I have had the pleasure of getting to know Reign personally over the last several months as I was a part of the 2014 round of the Colour of Couture (CoC). It was a pleasure to be able to sit down with her and share with you a bit more about this very public figure. I am always curious what brings a person to Second Life® in the first place. This was no different when it came to Reign, “I came to Second Life® in 2007 when I saw my real life cousin playing the game. I found it very exciting and wanted to learn more and so decided to create my avatar and enter this exciting world and have been here ever since.” Many on the grid would easily associate Reign with two of the biggest modeling contests in SL, Colour of Couture and Miss Virtual World (MVW). I asked Reign to explain the difference. “I would define Colour of Couture as a Top Modeling Competition for Women of Color and that does not mean the color of their skin. This encompasses their ethnic backgrounds.” She continued to explain, “Miss Virtual World is more of a pageant that represents many countries from around the world, and they are an ambassador to the Virtual World. Styling, charitable works, and being able to speak at engagements is very important in representing The Best Of SL as a whole.” When I asked Reign how CoC and MVW came to be, she replied “Colour of Couture was started because there was a lack of representation for women of color in the virtual world, to showcase their abilities in the fashion industry as well as other communities within Second Life®”. Many models aspire to be a part of both CoC and MVW. As the woman in charge of both Reign commented “Both of these pageants bring their own uniqueness to the grid and are very reputable and play into one another. Colour of Couture and Miss Virtual World both are about fashion, intelligence, uniqueness and above all a person’s great character.” One of the recent hot topics in SL fashion news was when Reign purchased The Best of SL. I asked her why she decided to make that move. “Owning BOSL was a dream that I have had for many years. When the opportunity presented itself I didn't take a second look. I went through the necessary legalities and in December of 2013 the final details were completed.”

With a new round of MVW starting, I was curious how it would be different now that Reign was in charge. “I can't say that it will be different as I will try and hold to some of the old traditions that MVW is best known for with some of my own influences that will make it mine and set it apart. You will notice in the styling challenges, the interviews and charity components the subtle differences.” When asked what mattered to her most concerning CoC and MVW, Reign replied “ they remain honest and trustworthy in nature. I want people to feel they can join these contest(s) and know that everything is transparent. We do not chose the winner based on who the executives like but what the judges vote on and keep a fair competition.” I am sure many readers who aspire to enter CoC and/or MVW. I of course had to ask Reign what advice she had for applicants. “You must work hard, these contest(s) are not easy. Many spend day and night studying their craft in order to excel. These contest(s) are not for the meek at heart, you must be strong because it can be time consuming as well as draining.” In the end Reign is very down to earth, personable and transparent. Reflecting on her position as a leader she commented, “Business is first and foremost and working as a team is the first priority as running BOSL or any company one cannot make it work with only one person. You must learn to communicate well and often and also be able to l isten to what is needed from your front line in order to be a successful Leader.” Links: Colour of Couture: http://colourofcouture.wordpress.com/ Miss Virtual World: http://www.missvirtualworld.info/

RGF ESTATES Interview with Marcus Lefevre

interview by Paradox Messmer Paradox Messmer: Ok...so first question like I said, how did you get your start in estate ownership, and the business of selling and renting land?" Marcus Lefevre: RGF has been found in 2006 by Rich Grainger and the intention was to create an estate with light or no covenant at all but to encourage resident to act self-responsible and allow them all possible liberty. If you read our covenant today, you`ll notice, that it does not have any limitation about the usage of your land at all. We`re there to provide you the land you need for making your own experience. PM: Oh that's excellent! I say to you, right on! I can see how that has played a big part in the success of your Estates and drawn in a lot of people. Have you found that it received a lot of positive response from people renting from you? ML: The positive response is mostly shown in our position today I`d suppose.... RGF Estates is one of the most known and trusted estates in Second Life® and especially our support or residents has become legendary within residents as we`re available 24/7/365 and are talking ae to face with residents if needed. The acronyms RGF stand for REAL GOOD FRIENDS. PM: I think that's essential to the success of running of an Estate and dealing with a lot of people all the time. You need to be friendly and readily accessible to them. Do you find a ot of businesses working with you, such as designers, fashion agencies and fashion event organizers? ML: Actually we do not work with any business together. It were my private intentions to reach out for the fashion and model industry. PM: I have heard much about that. You have reached out and sponsored fashion events in Second Life® and helped out many in this industry in making their events and stores a great success. Can you explain why you like to do this, personally? ML: As an estate director it is my passion to support the community any way I can, despite business matters. Basically I'm very interested in supporting high quality creations of any sort. I believe, that it it is necessary to help and support those

residents, who help us to immerse in this virtual world like it would be a reality. The fashion industry in Second Life® does provide this in most parts and this is why my focus is on there as well . PM: That's wonderful! The fashion industry sure is thankful, I can see their gratitude shown to you on your facebook and with how many people came out to the grand opening of your luxurious mansion, now featured in the Destination Guide. What are some of your future plans for RGF Estates? ML: All i want to see RGF Estates at is, to be known as the estate in Second Life®, sharing and supporting the interests and ideas of their residents, to make this virtual world as rich as it is. Long term we´d like to remain at our current extraordinary position and will reach out for other opportunities to help residents as well. PM: Well I think that's a truly great vision, showing compassion and support to fellow residents and dreamers. Thank you Marcus, for giving SL residents total freedom to express their dreams in land ownership. And thank you talking with us today! One last thing, do you have a website you want to share where people can find out about the parcels you offer or any additional contact info? ML: We do have a website as well as a facebook page. Http://www.rgfestates.net And... Google does know us very well too. :-) PM: Thank you again, Mr. Lefevre. I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors with RGF Estate and otherwise.
