A Heartfelt Thanks cancer. Hence, private contributions are essential and necessary. We can only hope that one day, prayers are answered and that pediatric cancer is eliminated. Today though, the fight continues.
We thank all of you for joining us on this special evening as we celebrate the courage, strength, and beauty of our young warriors battling the insidious disease of cancer. We know that you will be touched by their indescribable magic, as we have been. What started out as a simple dream, has blossomed into a beautiful reality. Nine years ago, we envisioned a way of providing direct support to the future generation of this world affected by pediatric cancer. Words cannot begin to express the amount of respect, gratitude, and sincere appreciation we have for each and every one of you. As we come together tonight, united as one, we hope for nothing more than to all hold hands, to walk together, and to find a cure for childhood cancer. This year marks the beginning of Runway to Hope’s ninth year. We have been recognized and honored as Central Florida’s Best Charity Event over a dozen times, our annual gala has become the largest charity event in Central Florida, and we were the first charity in Central Florida to have surpassed raising over 1 million dollars for a single event. Wow!!! Runway to Hope and the kids you help owe it all to you. What has grown from 30 children walking the runway in our inaugural year in 2010, to this year having over 160 children walking the runway, the Central Florida community has seen the need to help these children and their families. Only a small fraction, of the National Cancer Institute’s budget is directed towards pediatric

Let’s End Childhood Cancer.
This year also marks the beginning of a new partnership with The Adam Michael Rosen Foundation. We are so touched that Runway to Hope was chosen by the Rosen family and the foundation as a way of continuing to honor Adam. The foundation honors the life and legacy of Adam Michael Rosen who passed away from brain cancer this past November at only 26 years old. The son of Trisha Rosen and Orlando hotelier and philanthropist Harris Rosen, Adam bravely fought a two-and-a-half-year battle against a bilateral Gliomatosis Cerebri, a rare malignant brain tumor. Together we will keep his love, spirit, legacy, and courage alive through The Adam Michael Rosen Foundation presents Runway to Hope’s Spring Soiree. We believe that his contagious smile and kind heart will continue to beam down upon us as his legacy helps so many others who are similarly situated. Runway to Hope has completed $1 million pledges to each of Central Florida’s children’s hospitals that treat pediatric cancer; Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, AdventHealth for Children (formerly Florida Hospital for Children), and Nemours Children’s Hospital, which totaled $3 million. Our hospital pledges have been renewed and now increased since the first pledges were completed. A combined total of an additional $1.4 million, has now been donated and pledged totaling $4.4 million. Runway to Hope has insisted that each of the hospitals utilize the funds to create new and unique programs, as well as treatments and care that were otherwise absent or underserved in the Central Florida region. We are proud to be a part of history as together we’ve helped fund new treatments, new technology, new rooms, new research, and helped foster an environment of cooperation and collaboration between the hospitals as they treat and care for children with cancer. Runway to Hope’s Family Assistance Program was created to directly provide aid to not only the children diagnosed with cancer, but to their valiant families as well. In 2018 alone, over 110 families received financial aid through our Family Assistance Program. The strains , both emotional and financial, put on the families can be crushing. Often one parent has to quit work to care for the child, other children’s
Our Mission & Vision Mission Runway to Hope’s mission is to support families primarily in Central Florida fighting pediatric cancer while seeking a cure.
Evening Itinerary needs are unfortunately deferred, and a family’s finances are dramatically drained by mounting expenses and the loss of income. Bills and medical costs mount quickly leading to stress that can overwhelm parents and children alike. With our Family Assistance Program, we cut through the bureaucracy and red tape and provide families immediate help. Expenses covered are anything from food for the family, automobile assistance, mortgage/ rent payments, utility bills, necessities for the home, emergency transportation out of state, and sadly at times, funeral expenses. Runway to Hope has donated over $360,000 directly to families through our Family Assistance Program.

No parent should ever have to hear their child ask, “When I die, what will heaven look like?” We hear such things too often and strive daily so that such questions will someday be asked no more. Although the dollars raised may seem high, it is simply not enough as so many more millions are needed. Starting this charity had been a dream fulfilled. Runway to Hope not only touched our lives, but also the lives our daughters, Valentina and Alessandra. We are so proud of the philanthropists they have become at such a young age. “To those who much is given, much is expected” is our family’s mantra and one which is being passed down to them. We remain motivated by the triumphant stories of most of the children but, conversely, deeply saddened by the tragic and unimaginable loss of some of the beloved ones.

Your Contributions at Work Funds raised by Runway to Hope’s signature event of the year benefit our pledges to each of the pediatric oncology programs at the three local children’s hospitals, AdventHealth for Children, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, and Nemours Children’s Hospital. Additionally, funds raised from the evening also benefit Runway to Hope’s Family Assistance Program. At AdventHealth for Children, Runway to Hope funded the hospital’s Pediatric Palliative Care Program, which provides physical, emotional and spiritual support to children and their families who are suffering from pediatric cancer. Runway to Hope completed our $1 million pledge and began our new promise to the hospital of $500,000 in 2017. This pledge will fund a portion of the new pediatric oncology floor, which includes 12 large patient rooms, a family lounge, and a playroom for the patients. This renovation of the hospital wing will provide much needed comfort and top of the line equipment to serve the families living and battling pediatric cancer in this unit. In 2018, Runway to Hope contributed $10,000 toward the CAR T-cell therapy program, which is a new immunotherapy treatment for children battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia here in Central Florida under Medical Director of their Pediatric Cellular Therapy Program, Dr. Dave Shook. At Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Runway to Hope’s contribution supported Central Florida’s first ever comprehensive Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program, comprised of a team that provides the full range of medical and emotional support specific to pediatric brain tumor patients during and after their treatment. Runway to Hope completed our $1 million pledge in 2017. At Nemours Children’s Hospital, Runway to Hope funded two programs supporting pediatric oncology patients, including the participation and data collection of the Community Children’s Oncology Program
to improve access to leading-edge therapies, research and resources for pediatric cancer patients throughout Northern and Central Florida. Additionally, funds were directed to the Nemours Pediatric Interventional Radiology Program, which serves cancer patients directly by utilizing rare and advanced imaging technologies for localized and minimally invasive treatments. In completing our original pledge, Runway to Hope began a new pledge in 2019 of $500,000. The new pledge funds the purchase of new equipment and training for use of Microwave Ablation as a part of the Pediatric Interventional Radiology Program. This technology is used for treatments against soft tissue tumors and reduces side effects, as well as offering potentially lifesaving care. Additionally, Runway to Hope will fund the development of a Cancer Survivor Program of Excellence to improve pediatric cancer survivors’ access to quality care, clinical trials/ research, education, community outreach and health-focused supportive care. The program’s mission is to contribute to improved surveillance and treatment for long term effects of cancer therapies and improve survival rates and quality of life across the pediatric cancer care continuum. The new funding also supports Nemours’ use of technological advancements to provide precision medicine, a revolutionary approach for disease prevention and treatment that is personalized to best meet the needs of pediatric cancer patients with rare tumors. This approach will provide valuable data for our physician scientists to utilize in research to identify new and targeted ways to treat childhood cancers.

SPOTLIGHT on Family Assistance Runway to Hope provides direct assistance that is desperately needed by children and families affected by pediatric cancer in Central Florida. For these families, the promise of a future cure is not enough. They need help today. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the entire family suffers. Often one parent has to quit work to care for their sick child, dramatically reducing the family’s income.
“Thank you, so much, for the assistance with our vehicle payments. We truly appreciate it! Many thanks, to Runway to Hope, for helping so many families affected by cancer. You are a Godsend.” The Santiago Family
Medical expenses and other bills mount quickly; the stress can overwhelm parents and children alike. Your gift of any amount may purchase a gas gift card that allows a mother to visit her sick child in the hospital, make a car payment for the family to travel to and from for appointments, or pay the energy bill to keep the lights on in the home and many other financial burdens.
“Thank you so much! We are so grateful for the financial help you provided to our family.” The Netzer Family

The needs are endless and solely funded by philanthropy. With the support from our community, Runway to Hope can continue to provide the necessary assistance for these brave children and their families. In 2018, Runway to Hope was able to assist 110 families and granted over $134,793.30 in assistance. Since inception of this program in 2015 to December 2018, Runway to Hope has

been honored to assist 340 families and granted over $361,347 assisting with rent and mortgage, car payments, car repairs, groceries and gas gift cards, and sadly at times, funeral expenses. Our Family Assistance Program is growing rapidly and assisting as many families as we can. We hope we can continue to lift this financial burden. This program is only possible with your help! These families need your help more than ever and we hope you will continue on our journey to help end childhood cancer.
“Thank you so much! It’s definitely scary being in the hospital this long. We will be so happy when Thalia will be able to come home and be with the family again. We appreciate the help so much!” The Roman Family

HOPE Program Participants
HOPE PROGRAM wants to celebrate this major accomplishment and honor the children that reach this incredible milestone. Even after a child reaches survivorship status, several of these children will have terrible side effects from their treatment for years to come. Many of the families suffer from post traumatic stress disorder over the fear that their child’s cancer may return. The daily struggle these children and families face in the day to day is still strenuous, but Runway to Hope would like to celebrate all they have already been through and their continuous fight.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it is devastating. A mother of one of our Runway models said, “You have two minutes to cry, two minutes to feel sorry for yourself, and then you have no time to get to your child, explain it and then it is game on!” For most families, the time to celebrate is when the child has hit five years of No Evidence of Disease. Look out for these HOPE inspiring children below on our runway! Most of these participants will be escorting another child tonight who is still in active treatment and the Runway to Hope team could not be more proud to watch them give back. This program was created for the children still battling to have other children to look up to and inspire hope knowing that they can survive too! We love the relationships these children form during the event and this program brings HOPE to other children still in the fight.

BASH WEEKEND 2019
Runway to Hope’s extraordinary sponsor, Bloomingdale’s Orlando, along with their incredible staff, donated their time, resources, and clothing to more than 150 childhood cancer models. The Runway to Hope Bloomingdale’s Bash Weekend was complete with a “Spark Hope” mantra and a Carnival theme! We are very appreciative of Bloomingdale’s Orlando donating all of the clothing to our special models!
Both Bash Days were full of pampering, facepainting, eyelash design, hair styling, photo booth fun, face art, balloon twisting, fashion sketches, henna art, sport and antique cars, a scrumptious dessert bar and most importantly shopping, with styling provided by Fused Fashion! This incredible event would not have been possible without the support of The Mall at Millenia, over 100 generous volunteers, and local Central Florida businesses.
Bash Weekend 2019 On March 9th and 10th, 2019, Runway to Hope models and their families participated in Bloomingdale’s Bash Weekend! Over 150 boys and girls, ranging from ages from 2 -18 years old, participated in a memorable and fun-filled day away from protocols, medicine, treatment, and the daily challenges of pediatric cancer.
On this day, the outfits chosen by these courageous boys and girls serve as their fashion selection for their walk down the runway at the highly anticipated 9th Annual Runway to Hope Spring Soiree presented by the Adam Michael Rosen Foundation. Each wardrobe specifically reflects the spirit and unique personality of each child. Additionally, the entire experience serves as an
unforgettable memory for these courageous children. The Runway to Hope Bloomingdale’s Bash Weekend serves as a timeless moment when cancer does not take center stage in the lives of those affected by pediatric cancer.

We’re on a mission and it’s big. Join our movement for good and have fun doing it. A visit to SeaWorld helps protect the ocean and the animals that call it home. Together, we are inspiring the next generation of conservationists with our passion and purpose.

HOPE The Adam Michael Rosen Foundation honors the legacy of one young man’s courageous fight against Gliomatosis Cerebri. Adam’s infectious smile and perseverance gave strength to everyone around him. Now we honor his wish to strengthen the fighters, researchers, and the hopeful who all want to eradicate brain tumors. Let’s be #AdamStrong together.
