GREG ALEXANDER Greg Alexander is a world citizen who travels the planet to transmute all the quintessence of femininity on glazed paper. If he nourishes an atavistic passion for Greece, the ground of his ancestors, it’s in Paris that he has found his home port. As a photographer, he continues his dream of perfection because, according to him, “the photograph is a kind of plastic surgery which is able to modulate a face ad infinitum!” His vision of beauty is fragile, transitory, a little kitsch and inevitably fatal.

TRAVEL ‘N STYLE

When you visit some places, you are greeted with endless possibilities in splurging and spoils for the senses and the soul. The Berkshires region can be counted among them, as this area is spectacular in scenery all by itself, with its old rustic barns and silos, rough non-manicured landscapes, its pretty sunrises and sunsets, all seemingly sprinkled with fairy dust at every turn. Located in Western Massachusetts and originally an exclusive playground for the affluent New York City dwellers during the Gilded Age, this region is comprised of 32 separate towns, which now open up their magical doors in welcoming all who choose to travel here. From the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (most temporarily virtual), the Norman Rockwell Museum, MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) and more, there are endless things to do and places to see, stocked with historic landmarks, museums and performing arts venues. Perhaps do an antiquing crawl throughout the region or enjoy their treasure trove of culture, a variety of top quality dining spots or maybe chance upon a piece of untouched land and have a delightful impromptu picnic at the dozens of picturesque parks and gardens here. Enter Blantyre Country Estate, the first United States hotel to become a member of Relais & Châteaux. This sprawling estate is set amidst 110 acres of lush lawns and woods. Arrive and take in this Tudor Style House built in 1902, transporting you to an era of grandeur and opulence. Blantyre’s 24 elegant accommodations are located in the Manor House, the Carriage House and four charming, well-appointed cottages. Featuring New England’s most extensive wine cellar with a private tasting room and thousands of bottles of wine, this in itself beckons an unparalleled visit, while The Spa at Blantyre- the Potting Shed, provides a calming respite for those who seek rejuvenation, itself featuring 5 treatment rooms, including a water suite and a private shower, guests can relax and indulge in a sauna or a Eucalyptus steam room, a peaceful relaxation lounge, a vitality bar, a fitness center and a spa cuisine menu. Services include massage, facial and body treatment therapies (Temporarily closed due to COVID 19 restrictions). A heated pool, tennis courts and manicured croquet lawns along with impeccably decorated rooms warmed up by luxury fabrics and wallpapering, fresh flowers, antique appointments and endless shelves of books beckon you back to centuries past, if even for a stolen moment in time. This Relais & Châteaux Forbes Five Star resort has refreshed New England travel with brand new offerings and exclusive guest amenities, including the region’s premier dining experience, Café Boulud at Blantyre. Splendid.

Café Boulud at Blantyre Since its debut in July of 2020, and under the helm of Michelin-starred Chef Daniel Boulud, Café Boulud New York at Blantyre has established itself as the area’s most sought after and treasured dining destination. This pop-up offers the flavors of the original award-winning Café Boulud on New York’s Upper East Side to the Berkshires, featuring inventive seasonal French cuisine, enjoyed in a more comfortable and casual café vibe. Using fresh and local ingredients in an impeccably authentic farm to table manner, French classics are featured with a whimsical freshness, a distinct Boulud signature seen woven throughout each menu. For perfect pairings, Blantyre’s wine collection provides endless premier and rare bottles of wine, and has enjoyed distinction and international acclaim such as the much revered Wine Spectator Grand Award. Their wine-by-the-glass list, allows for tasting and creative pairing throughout the meal. Beer is graciously offered as well. House Cocktails such as the Ernest at Sea; Hendricks’s gin, fresh grapefruit and hibiscus syrup, or the Cooler than Yesterday; Elijah Craig bourbon, Szechuan peppercorn, Fino sherry, lemon, plum compote and apple cider among other mixology masterpieces, add sparkle and celebration to the meal. Starters such as the pumpkin soup with a rich gruyère espuma, spiced croutons and lingonberry or the popular Spanish octopus with sunchoke skordalia, pickled ahi-dulce peppers, marcona almond and nasturtium whet the appetite, and the Scottish sea trout gravlax with marinated beets, horseradish crème fraîche, pumpernickel also entice. A favorite, duck pâté en croûte with dried figs, gem lettuce and a whole grain mustard Chantilly is consistently divine. Main courses such as the Branzino “Cha Cha” with vermicelli noodles, turmeric, scallions, peanuts, fish sauce and lime seasoning satisfies discerning palates. The grilled lobster tail with littleneck clams, fingerling potatoes, bacon, celery root and chowder sauce is a hit for seafood lovers. The Crescent Farm duck breast with wild rice, quince, fennel, duck leg pastilla and anise scented jus is both classic and refreshed. For lighter fare, the Frenchie Burger with confit pork belly, morbier cheese, tomato, onion jam, cornichon, pommes frites, mesclun salad and sides such as sautéed spinach, garlic and fried shallots or roasted cauliflower vadvouvan yogurt, parsley, make for a perfectly rounded meal. Meal service throughout the property is offered in complete compliance with state and CDC Requests for private events and intimate celebrations will also be accommodated. Guests of Blantyre can enjoy topnotch culinary moments throughout the estate, including gilded-age picnics amidst the 110acre grounds. Dinner service Wednesday through Sunday, weekend brunch and private parties at Blantyre, this Relais and Châteaux property. http://www.blantyre.com/

John Adams Farmhouse Since 1990, chef and owner Dan Smith, has been offering farm-to-table dining experience, long before it was in vogue. Since then he has continued to delight guests, from local regulars to travelers far and wide. Built in the late 1700s, this rustic farmhouse remains surrounded by beautifully landscaped perennial gardens along with panoramic views of its sprawling natural forest backdrop, including an old icehouse built along with the original farmstead. Enter and find a sprawling bar on your right, perfect for an après touring cocktail. Be seated in the cozy dining room to the left, encompassing several beautifully appointed rooms in the house and granting a comfortable at home feel. Enjoy the candle lit white tablecloth dining, casual and elegant all at once. On chillier days or evenings, take in the crackling fireplace while you dine, providing the perfect ambiance. Al fresco dining is available on the terrace as well, providing an ideal outdoor dining experience. Chef Dan Smith as always, develops his menu around regional producers and is inspired by what’s fresh and current in seasonal produce and all ingredients. In addition to his work with farmers in the region, Chef Dan created his own garden on the property, which supplies additional produce for the restaurant. The appetizers here such as the fried oyster salad with mesclun, caesar vinaigrette and parmesan crisps is a well-known signature dish and for good reason. The oysters are plentiful, plump and just the right amount of crispy, giving texture and balance when on the palate. The P.E.I. mussel in coconut milk with lime, chili and scallion is exotic, flavorful and satisfying. Casual fare such as fiery duck wings with blue cheese and celery, offers a unique spin on the standard Buffalo wings appetizer. Main dishes such as the seared duck breast, crisp leg confit, mashed potatoes, balsamic and maple syrup is classic while at the same time amplified by the fresh maple syrup flavor while the seared diver scallops with cauliflower-pancetta ‘risotto’, garlic, spinach, with red quinoa, leeks, roast mushrooms and braised greens offers a delightful seafood selection. Enjoy an extensive wine list, a full cocktail bar and a bar menu for lighter fare. The John Andrews Farmhouse and Chef Dan Smith, have achieved high accolades from The Daily Meal, is a Lonely Planet Top Choice and has been awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Yankee Magazine Editor’s Choice and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. https://johnandrewsrestaurant.com/

STYLE MD

RECLAIMING OUR LOST YEAR BY DAWN HARRIS SHERLING, M.D., F.A.C.P.

In 2020, Americans lost an entire year off of their life expectancy according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). And while we might be able to attribute most of that loss to the coronavirus, we can’t blame it completely. Americans have been losing ground on their life expectancies as compared with other industrialized nations for years. We are living hard lives and it’s taking its toll. It is perhaps a great irony that some doctors purporting to be able to extend life and stave off illness with massive doses of supplements or radical dietary interventions, often die of diseases that their diets were meant to protect them from (See: Dr. Atkins). Or, they simply die at an expected age of an unremarkable cause (See: many of my patients who transferred to me when they outlived their own doctors). So, if doctors don’t have the answer, who does? When long-lived individuals are interviewed and asked the secret of their longevity, there are often cute remarks about avoiding the opposite sex or being attached to the same partner, drinking a bit or avoiding alcohol entirely. Listening to their stories, it is challenging to discover the actual fountain of youth. And yet, though there are no witty anecdotes to be had about it, people who live long lives seem to reside in the countryside and eat simple, homemade food, while getting a fair amount of outdoor activity. Besides that, they have a great deal of social and family connections and rarely feel isolated. Scientists have called the places where these people congregate, Blue Zones.

Dr. Sherling is a general internist and clinical associate professor at Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine. She is the author of several academic articles and a medical thriller, Not Quite Dead. Website: dawnharrissherling.com Twitter: @dharrissherling 22

| ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

Five areas around the world have been designated as Blue Zones. These are places where many more people than expected make it to very old age, having the highest number of residents over 100 years old. Three of them are on islands in Japan, Greece, and Italy, where the hustle and bustle of modern life has made some inroads

over the years, but where ultimately, traditions have held strong. They eat moderately, mostly fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains. Some drink alcohol and some do not. All get plenty of physical activity and have deep connections to the community. While not an island, the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica is another Blue Zone with similar characteristics, somewhat isolated from modern life, its people living full lives, eating whole foods mostly derived from the land. But before you pack your bags for an island retreat, you should know that the fifth Blue Zone is not in some faraway, secluded location. It’s in Loma Linda, California, about one hour east of Los Angeles. The Blue Zone isn’t the whole city or even part of the city. The piece of Loma Linda that’s been designated as a Blue Zone is a religious group—the Seventh Day Adventists who reside there. This group of about 9,000 Americans have made something of an urban island for themselves where their lifestyle resembles that of the Blue Zone Italians or Costa Ricans a whole lot more than their Los Angeles brethren a short ride on the I-10 away. The Loma Linda Adventists eat mostly vegetarian, whole foods diets, don’t drink or smoke, and get regular exercise. Besides that, they have a close knit, active community, making it clear that it doesn’t matter where you live as much as how you live. Despite decades of fad diets and supplements being hawked on daytime T.V., we are losing lifeexpectancy ground, more quickly now than ever. If we want to reclaim our lost year (or even lost years), we need to start changing our daily habits. Residents of Blue Zones aren’t telling what to do us as much as they are showing us. A wise man once said, “Seeing is believing.” Health gurus may make promises, but the Blue Zones are demonstrating how it’s actually done. And the Loma Linda Adventists are proving that it can be done in a busy area of the U.S. just as well as in a remote area of Greece.

BLUE LIGHT SKINCARE

Everything you should know about protecting your skin from blue light. You probably already have a skincare routine that you do religiously, but have you considered adding an extra step for blue light protection? In this age of digitalization and technology, many people are unaware about the effects that the blue light from their phone or computer screen has on their skin. Blue light contains high-frequencies and short wavelengths that are detrimental to your skin cells. The effects are not immediate but are long term. It has been found that blue light causes cell shrinkage, speeds up the aging process, and adds excess stress to the skin.

Recently, many brands have released creams and serums focusing on just blue light protection alone. Before the release of these blue light focused protectants, many professionals recommended just wearing sunscreen or SPF. Unfortunately for the consumer, many of these common sunscreens leave a white cast or a thick and sticky feeling on your face. That’s why brands like Soleil Toujours and Goodhabit have deterred away from the common sunscreen, introducing other products of protection. The Goodhabit brand, released in 2020, is a leading skincare company in the protection from blue light. They provide on their brand website (goodhabitskin.com) that SPF is not enough to fight the visible blue light. Their best seller is the Water Jelly Dew Cream which is supposed to

provide “heavyweight hydration with a lightweight feel” utilizing their BLU5 technology. This technology they have created is from the extraction of a marine active off the coast of Greenland. This active ultimately creates a light protective film on the skin while neutralizing the effects of blue light. Furthermore, luxury brand, Soleil Toujours, has also released an anti-blue light formulated mist. Soleil Toujours announced their mission to “erase the divide between luxury skincare and serious suncare, making protection from the sun’s harmful rays a daily routine, not just a beach-day consideration” (soleiltoujours.com). However, their Organic Set+ Protect Micro Mist SPF 30 also provides protection from the blue light with the inclusion of the EcoSun Complex. This is their blend of red algae, ascorbyl pamitate (oil-soluble form of vitamin C), vitamin E, and bisabolol (extracted from chamomile) that is included in their products. They also focus on sustainable packaging and environmental responsibility, so you don’t have to feel guilty when purchasing their products knowing that they are vegan and environmentally friendly. Make the choice to add the extra step of blue light protectant skincare to your routine and you’ll realize that’s what you’ve been missing.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage What is it & why are all the celebs getting it? By Devyn Le You’ve probably seen the photos online of Chrissy Teigen, Selena Gomez, and other celebrities engaging in what they call the Lymphatic Drainage Massage. Well, what exactly is this massage and why is this becoming a health and wellness trend? Beginning with the basics, the network of vessels and organs underneath the skin that focus on flushing out toxins is called the lymphatic system. This system disposes of unwanted materials but also transports infection-fighting substances. The mindset behind the lymphatic drainage massage is that if you’re sick, bloated, or achy, then triggering the network into motion should essentially speed up the detoxing process, getting rid of all those unwanted fluids and bacteria.

“Aside from the health benefits to your immune system, many celebrities have been seen hopping on this trend for the slimming effect.”

26

| ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

Now you’re probably wondering if these so-called massages actually work. The lymphatic drainage massage actually began in the 1930’s in Europe and was called Lymphology. As it became more popular, different techniques started appearing which led to the spa treatment that many utilize today. The most common reason for the practice of the massage was for those suffering from Lymphedema and those recovering from cancer. Lymphedema is chronic swelling in specific areas of the body, so this therapy of unclogging actually helps for the allowance of the lymphatic fluid movement. If the lymphatic system is clogged, the cells in your body are not getting the fluid they need to fight diseases and illness. Therefore, many people have started incorporating this style of massage therapy for the immunity benefits.

Aside from the health benefits to your immune system, many celebrities have been seen hopping on this trend for the slimming effect. Unfortunately, if you’re only interested in the massage for the purpose of weight loss, it is only temporarily slimming and contouring. There is in fact no actual fat reduction happening. It has been found that the before and after pictures look exceptionally different because of the detoxing and reduction of water retention. This leaves the impression of a temporary visual effect. Although there may not be any real fat reduction happening, the massage will still leave you feeling light and airy. Here in Orlando we have a few different places that provide the lymphatic drainage massage as a service. Zen Brazil in Southwest Orlando guarantees that “you will leave Zen Brazil feeling peaceful, relaxed and rejuvenated” and offers a fifty-minute session for the lymphatic drainage massage starting at $95. They also offer different packages for higher amounts of sessions and how long you want the session. If you don’t want to do your body but still want to test the treatment, you can opt for the lymphatic drainage for the face option instead for $75. Another highly rated spa located in Winter Park, is Lymphatic Drainage Orlando. Lymphatic Drainage Orlando was founded in 2007 and has come a long way since then. They offer several different lymphatic drainage treatments, such as: post-surgery, prenatal, and regular lymphatic drainage. It just might be your turn to hop on this trend for those not so great days and feel immediate results.

DROP OF FOAMED MILK ESPRESSO 60ML

The macchiato is an important feature of Italian coffee culture. It’s basically an espresso (served in a demitasse cup) with a small amount of foamed milk on top. There is another type of macchiato called “latte macchiato,” which is a cup of hot milk with a shot of espresso. Today, you can order it with many different flavors, and you can even have it iced (which also makes for a “pretty” drink).

Traditional cappuccinos, along with espressos and lattes, are all traditional Italian coffee-like beverages with the combination of espresso and steamed milk. Cappuccinos consist of half frothy steamed milk, half espresso. Most cappuccinos now are sweetened, flavored, and often made from a concentrated mix, although they still share the same frothed milk and coffee flavors like the original cappuccino. This drink can also be iced.

STEAMED MILK 120 ML ESPRESSO 60 ML

This drink is one of the more complicated drinks to prepare. The flat white consists of a double shot of espresso combined with micro-foamed milk that is heated consistently all the way through. The drink is served a little bit cooler than a cappuccino. The flat white has a velvety texture that remains consistent while you are drinking it.

ESPRESSO 30ML

Many people believe that espresso is a dark, bitter, almost burnt-flavored roast of coffee, when in fact espresso is not a roast at all. It’s a method of preparing the coffee. The coffee is grounded finely and is tightly packed into a “portafilter”. High-pressure water is then forced through the grounds and extracted in small, concentrated amounts. Why do you think it’s called a “shot?”

32

| ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

SERVE TO YOUR LIKING ADD MILK/ FLAVORS

It is not your typical “iced coffee”. Cold brew, also called cold water extract or cold press, is coffee that’s brewed with room temperature/cold water for several hours (12 to 24 hours! That’s crazy! ) Then the coffee concentrate is ready to be prepared to order. Just like any other coffee, water or milk is used, and it can be served hot, over ice, or blended with ice and other ingredients. Yum!

Lattes are probably the most common drink ordered by people. “Cafe Latte” means “milk coffee” in English, and that’s pretty much what it is. A good portion of the drink is steamed milk with espresso shots to liven it up, usually topped with about 1/2 inch or so of foam. You can add as much espresso shots as you like, along with having it flavored.

ALONG CAME A SPIDER The Ferrari SF90 Spider The spider version of the SF90 Stradale, the SF90 Spider, was unveiled recently and not only is the car the Prancing Horse’s first production plug-in hybrid spider, but the SF90 Spider also sets new benchmarks for performance, innovation and the thrill of driving, not only for the marque’s range, but for the entire sports car sector. The new convertible has the same extreme supercar specification and record-breaking performance as the SF90 Stradale, yet also adds further excitement and versatility to the mix, thanks to latest iteration of Ferrari’s signature Retractable Hard Top architecture which first debuted on a mid-rear engined berlinetta in 2011. The SF90 Spider thus represents a fundamental revision of the supercar concept that makes it the ideal car for owners that demand the very pinnacle of Ferrari technology, but still want to experience the joy of open-top driving. The SF90 Spider’s plug-in hybrid system guarantees performance levels unmatched by any other production spider: the car’s 780 cv turbo-charged V8 is augmented by three electric motors, one at the rear and two on the front axle, bringing its maximum power output to a staggering 1,000 cv. This state-of-the-art system does not complicate the driving experience in any way as a sophisticated control logic autonomously monitors and adjust power flows to suit the conditions of use. All the driver has to do is to select one of the power unit modes (eDrive, Hybrid, Performance and Qualify) on the brand-new eManettino for a wonderfully exhilarating experience behind the wheel. Like the SF90 Stradale, the SF90 Spider also has AWD, which has raised the bar for standing starts to unparalleled new speeds: 0-100 km/h in 2.5 s and 0-200 km/h in 7.0 s. The mechanical layout adopted by the Maranello engineers has allowed them to further advance the car’s dynamic control system. The latter, now

referred to as the eSSC, verifies the car’s dynamic status in real time. Based on that information, it controls vehicle stability by delivering torque independently via the front electric engines to the inside and outside wheel (Torque Vectoring), significantly improving traction coming out of corners and making it much simpler and more intuitive to drive on the limit with confidence. From an aerodynamic perspective, the result of the development process is an extreme design which, with a maximum of 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, sets the absolute benchmark in terms of both downforce and aerodynamic efficiency for the road cars in the range without aerodynamic appendages. The many innovative, patented solutions adopted include most notably the shut-off Gurney, an active system at the rear of the car which adapts to driving conditions, and the forged wheels with wing profiles which recall Ferrari’s F1-derived blown geometry. The starting point for the SF90 Spider design was to ensure it remained as faithful as possible to the SF90 Stradale’s signature styling. The Ferrari Styling Centre’s meticulous crafting of the tonneau area has integrated it seamlessly with the rest of the car, an achievement that is even more astonishing because the V8 is still clearly visible through the engine bay cover despite the inclusion of the RHT stowage. The V8 thus remains the star of the show and very much on display whether the RHT is deployed or retracted. The track-derived “eyes on the road, hands on the steering wheel” philosophy, which drove the ergonomics and styling of the interior, has produced an innovative new HMI concept that includes a new steering wheel with a touchpad that allows drivers to control virtually every aspect of the car without moving their hands. The central instrument cluster is now entirely digital with a 16” curved HD screen, which can be fully configured and controlled using the

controls on the steering wheel. On the central tunnel, the automatic gearbox controls are now actioned by a grille-style feature that references Ferrari’s glorious and iconic manual gearshift gate. Like all Prancing Horse spiders, the SF90 Spider sports a retractable hard top, which guarantees optimal noise insulation and protection from the elements when deployed, does not deform at high speeds and provides exceptional occupant space and comfort. The RHT is so compact, simple and light, it can be actioned in just 14 seconds and can be deployed when the car is on the move. The key to the success of the Ferrari RHT is that it takes up just 100 litres of space rather than the 150-200 litres required by a traditional system. The use of aluminium in its construction also means that it is around 40 kg lighter than a conventional retractable hard top. An adjustable electric rear window guarantees superb occupant comfort even at high speeds when the RHT is lowered. As is the case with the SF90 Stradale, the SF90 Spider is also available with a dedicated specification for owners that want to push its track car vocation to the extreme. The Assetto Fiorano includes a list of exclusive upgrades that set it apart from the standard car, not least Multimatic shock absorbers derived from the Prancing Horse’s GT racing experience and optimised for track use. Others include the adoption of high performance materials (such as carbon-fibre and titanium) that have shaved 21 kg off the car’s weight, a carbon-fibre rear spoiler and road-homologated Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres designed to improve track performance in the dry, thanks to a softer compound and fewer grooves. Lastly, the Assetto Fiorano offers an optional two-tone livery that further underscores the car’s racing vocation.

ACTORS WHO WERE MUCH CLOSER IN AGE THAN PORTRAYED THE TRUE AGE GAPS BETWEEN THESE STARS WILL MAKE YOUR JAW DROP! By Riesa Pascal

Playing older or younger roles comes with the territory of being an actor and when it comes to fictional characters in Hollywood, we all know that anything is possible. Keep on reading to see the shocking age gaps between co-stars in some of your favorite roles.

Mean Girls This modern cult classic saw Amy Poehler steal the show as the easy going mother of Regina George (played by Rachel McAdams). In real life there’s only a seven-year age difference between the two actresses. The Hobbit Trilogy Thranduil (Lee Pace) was the father of Legolas in The Hobbit series, but in real life this Elvenking is actually two years younger than his on-screen son portrayed by Orlando Bloom. Selena This biographical musical drama about the life of Selena QuintanillaPérez stars Jennifer Lopez in her breakout role as the title character. The real-life age difference between Lopez and her on-screen mother (Constance Marie) is a couple months shy of four years. Forrest Gump Despite being just nine years older than Tom Hanks, Sally Field was cast as Hank’s mother in the Academy-award winning film Forrest Gump. If that wasn’t surprising enough, the couple had previously played love interest just 6 years earlier in Punchline. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again Though she is noticeably absent for most of the movie, Meryl Streep reprised her role as Donna Sheridan in this follow-up to the 2008 film Mamma Mia! In the film, her on-screen mother is played by the one and only Cher who in reality is only three years older than Streep. Alexander Despite having an all-star cast, Alexander was a major box-office flop and left many scratching their heads at the bizarre decision to cast 29-year-old Angelina Jolie as Colin Farrell’s mother. Farrell was 28 at the time making him just one year younger than Jolie. White Christmas Classic Christmas movie lovers are well familiar with this 1954 smash hit, but some may be surprised to learn that younger sister Judy Haynes (Vera-Ellen) is actually seven years older than her on-screen big sister Betty (Rosemary Clooney). Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Although there is only a 12-year age gap between Sean Connery and Harrison Ford, Connery was cast as Jones’ estranged father Henry Jones, Sr. in the third installment of the beloved Indiana Jones franchise.

CELEBRITY SOUP

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang In what is by far the shortest age gap on the list, Dick Van Dyke was actually six months older than Lionel Jeffries who was cast to play Dyke’s on-screen father in this musical-fantasy classic. George Lopez Belita Moreno nailed her role as Benita “Benny” Lopez—the bitter and emotionally abusive mother of George Lopez—in his award-winning ABC sitcom. In real life, however, the actress is only 11 years older than her onscreen son. Golden Girls In 1985, Bea Arthur was cast as Golden Girl Dorothy Zbornakat while Dorothy’s mother Sophia Petrillo was portrayed by Estelle Getty who was actually a year younger than Arthur in real life.

Lose FAT & INCHES Noninvasively

8 Simple Rules Before starring in the wildly successful sitcom The Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco landed her breakout role as Bridget Hennessy on 8 Simple Rules. Though Bridget was supposed to be the older sister of Kerry Hennessy (Amy Davidson), Cuoco is actually six years younger than Davidson in real life. Schitt’s Creek **Spoiler Alert** Though their visible closeness in age is covertly addressed by the fact that the Rose family mistakenly assumes Mutt and Jocelyn Schitt are having an affair, the on-screen mother (Jennifer Robertson) and son (Tim Rozon) are actually only five years apart.

Michael handles cases throughout the state and for clients from all around the nation, but he is particularly honored to assist the residents, medical professionals and business owners of Orlando and the surrounding Central Florida area. Michael is proud to have been born and raised in the Midwest. His strong work ethic became evident when he obtained his first job at the age of 12. He has worked ever since, including full time throughout all levels of his education. Michael attended the University of Nebraska, where he graduated at the top of his class, summa cum laude. While there, he was selected as the sole recipient of the prestigious and highly coveted

Regent’s Scholarship and was an active member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. Michael then attended the Florida State University College of Law, from which he graduated with honors in 1993 and promptly became a member of the Florida Bar. Michael then immediately began his career as a trial attorney by serving as an Assistant State Attorney, gaining valuable courtroom and trial experience as a misdemeanor and felony prosecutor, before starting his civil defense litigation career in 1995 with a large statewide trial firm. Michael rose to the level of partner with that firm within two years and became a named partner soon after. Years later, in March of 2007, Michael fulfilled his dream of forming his own firm, Fulmer LeRoy & Albee, where he has served as the firm’s managing partner since inception. Throughout his career, Michael has always sought to be innovative and forward-thinking in his litigation and trial strategies, and that has resulted in the creation of many new legal standards and evidentiary principles which have been adopted and ratified by circuit and federal district courts throughout the state, as well as the Florida Supreme Court.

commercial real estate investor. He is fortunate to now be either the sole or majority owner of several successful properties throughout Orlando and other Florida cities, with some additional projects on the horizon. Apart from his professional endeavors, Michael is a volunteer and a dedicated advocate for large charitable foundations for both cancer and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). In his down time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and loved ones, exercising, sports (especially following the New Orleans Saints and FSU Seminoles) and traveling when his schedule allows.

For over 25 years, Michael has been a licensed member of the Florida Bar, and he is also licensed to practice in the US District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. Moreover, he is a member of the Orange County Bar. In addition to his legal career, Michael diversified his professional interests and, over time, became an accomplished

CARRIE L. RENTZ, P.A. Carrie began her legal career in 2004 as an Assistant State Attorney for the 18th Judicial Circuit, serving Seminole and Brevard counties. She started as a misdemeanor prosecutor in Titusville, Florida, and was later transferred to Sanford, Florida, where she was ultimately promoted to a felony docket trial attorney position. Her experience as a prosecutor spurred a desire to help people in bad situations, and care for those who’ve hit rock-bottom, helping them get them back on track to a better life. She left the State Attorney’s Office to join the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Council for the Fifth District, representing cases throughout Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Flagler, Lake and Osceola Counties. As a former prosecutor, Carrie understood all aspects of building a strong offensive case, from gathering pertinent evidence to deciding the best convictions to seek – an advantage which has proven key to developing a strong defense. In 2008, Carrie went into private practice, opening up her own firm and continuing to work part-time for the

Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Council for the Fifth District. She’sdefended everything from murder and sex crimes, to driving on a suspended license. In 2014, Carrie expanded her practice into handling family law cases, working as co-counsel with a Central Florida attorney representing more than 40 years of experience and many high profile cases. Carrie is a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. Carrie has also been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Top 100. Additionally, Carrie serves on the Board for Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida. Carrie has a compassion and understanding for each of her clients to be fully invested in fighting for their best possible outcome. When your pet visits our hospital, they will have access to regular wellness examinations, diagnostic testing, complex surgical and dental procedures, emergency medicine and much more. We encourage you will take a few minutes to learn more about our hospital and why you can trust our team as your animal care partner. Alicia Eliscu, DVM Dr. Eliscu graduated from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science in 1998. She has worked at Kirkman Road Veterinary Clinic since 2000 and loves what she does! With a special interest in surgery and dentistry, no request is too big or too small for Dr. Eliscu – her main focus is helping patients live happy, healthy lives. When Dr. Eliscu is not at KRVC, you can find her spending time with her husband, three awesome daughters, Gunnar – her golden retriever, and her two cats, Loki and Stoney. James Ebner, DVM Dr. Ebner received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Colorado State University. Upon graduation from CSU, Dr. Ebner practiced in Loveland, Colorado for several years before moving to Florida to join KRVC in 2002. You can often find Dr. Ebner researching treatment options for his patients – he’s always interested in learning and providing the best pet care for his patients. His special interests include internal medicine, Epilepsy and diabetes. A fun fact about Dr. Ebner is that he went to school with Dr. Eliscu at CSU! Away from the clinic Dr. Ebner enjoys spending time with his giant schnauzer, bicycling with his wife, and gardening. Katherine Savardi, DVM Dr. Savardi enjoyed growing up in Annapolis, Maryland and first came to Florida to attend the University of Florida (Go Gators!) for her undergraduate degree. Following her

completion of vet school at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, she worked in Cincinnati, Ohio for over two years. Lynette Pichardo, DVM Dr. Pichardo was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, where she graduated from veterinary school in 2012. She became an accredited veterinarian in the United States in 2014 and joined our practice in July of 2020. Dr. Pichardo’s special interests include veterinary dentistry – often joking it’s because both her father and grandfather were human dentists! Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Pichardo is here to assist our Spanish speaking community with the healthcare needs of their pets.
