PUBLISHER’S NOTE

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Loyal Readers, New Readers, Subscribers, Luxury Lovers, Partners and Friends, In Short — Let’s all get vaccinated — so, we can fully open up our businesses and get our lives back to normal as soon as possible. Let’s put aside our differences in politics and look towards the safety of all of our children, family and friends. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, please do it and we can all survive this dark phase of our lives. Don’t wait on the sidelines for others to do it first. You can make the change, and it will make a difference to make it a safe place for all of us and for all of us to move forward in this great country of ours. I like to turn our focus back to the core of our services. Now more than 10 years of publishing our Tampa Style luxury lifestyle magazine, which is unlike any other and designed for all tiers of life of happiness — to date, considered a ‘rare beauty’ & ‘pure’; details about what inspired its founding and what drives us to do what we do and why, has never been shared. And so, as we continue to evolve, begin to further brand awareness emerging to growing numbers, and as we reaffirm our mission, I felt now was a good time to share. When founding this magazine, I was inspired that day long ago to create a something with great passion, purpose and a new standard in mind for a luxury lifestyle magazine but knew it was a matter of waiting until the right time. I envisioned a magazine that explored the softer side of luxury and I wanted to do it much differently and create what I could not find. For the love of true luxury — I am a person who eats, sleeps, breathes and dreams of incredible, beautiful places, things and experiences so luxurious and felt on a deep level, the importance of preserving history, heritage, craft and creativity, every sumptuous moment created out of appreciation, where all the senses were stimulated and surrounded by great beauty, profound comfort and peace. I have always understood it, felt it, connected with it, like an ever tethered umbilical deeply embedded and feeding my soul; a voice calling to me, inspiring and enriching me. Stories and love first, and commerce will follow, because where there is love, transactions naturally follow. And luxury is all about love. I am incredibly honored and happy about the love and loyalty we have received from our readers and clients. Many became friends and we deeply care for all of you. This year’s September issue is a reflection of the Fall Fashion styles for the season. Discover a great fashion spread with sophisticated looks. This issue is definitely a must-see for this autumn season. Equally sophisticated is our look at those professionals you want to trust when you need them… the “Attorney’s of the Year”, a great collection of the finest Attorneys nominated by many of you. Please give us your feedback on your experience of hiring a counselor at law. My hope is that this issue inspires you, takes you places you haven’t been before, and makes you feel good. Email me and let me know! (info@styletome.com) Let’s spread the love!

LUXURY NEWS

Diamond Banc, Tampa Director - Jodi Hudson, GIA Graduate Gemologist

Leveraging the Value of Your Jewelry The solution is here in your neighborhood.

A client-driven approach to leveraging the value of your jewelry.

Diamond Banc offers an innovative and customer driven approach when it comes to selling or leveraging the value of your jewelry. They provide a variety of financial solutions and collaborate with you to determine the optimal solution. What if I told you that there’s a state-of-the-art approach when it comes to selling and borrowing against what your jewelry is worth? Throughout our lives, we buy, receive and retain jewelry that ends up sitting in a drawer or safe for years, never to be worn. However, what if there was another way? Diamond Banc offers innovative and creative ways when it comes to selling or leveraging the value of your jewelry. Here is how. Founded in 2007, Diamond Banc opened their upscale endeavor as a way to help clientele sell their most valued high-end jewelry, luxury watches and much more. During the process, Diamond Banc became one of the nation’s finest jewelry equity loan providers by providing the highest loan amounts, lowest cost of funds, and unmatched repayment options. Originally launched as a small operation in Columbia, Missouri, they opened several locations nationwide and found their elite business right here in Tampa, FL!

20

| TAMPASTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

Diamond Banc is a unique business due to their dedication for delivering top-notch customer service. Along with the best customer service, they have also staked their reputation on employing the best and most knowledgeable jewelry experts in the nation. Diamond Banc has a large network of jewelry dealers, retail partners and industry connections. For example, if a client brings in a piece from the early 1900s, they consult with a specialist to ensure the client is getting the maximum amount they can for that specific piece. For those who are ready to part with their items and value being paid immediately, Diamond Banc will make an unparalleled purchase offer for your fine jewelry, luxury watches, and diamonds. They are known for funding transactions on the spot after providing you with the highest quality liquid value assessment. There are several liquidity options Diamond Banc makes available to best assist you. Clients can select one option or use them all depending on their situation and goals. Immediate Payment For Your Jewelry & Watches

This option may suit those who are looking for an immediate transaction. Diamond Banc will provide an industry leading purchase

LUXURY NEWS

offer for your diamonds, jewelry and luxury watches and issue payment on the spot. Effective Consignment

For those who prefer a higher return over immediate funding, this option is for you. Your item(s) are marketed to thousands of jewelry dealers, retailers and wholesalers. Diamond Banc pays you a preferred return as soon as your item(s) sell. Take note that this is for Items that will sell for $10,000+. Maximize Your Return by Making Diamond Banc Your Agent

For those with the primary objective of maximizing their return, the Seller’s Agent Service option is for you. Diamond Banc serves as their clients’ fiduciary, ensuring that their interests are aligned and the highest return is achieved. Your most treasured and highest valued items are marketed to a variety of platforms nationwide with the goal of selling back to the end consumer. Diamond Banc charges a transparent, fixed percentage commission. Items that will sell for $35,000+ are eligible. Get Money For Your Jewelry & Retain Ownership

Mills Menser, Owner

Have you ever considered getting a loan against your items instead of selling? When you choose the jewelry equity loan option you can leverage the equity value of your jewelry by borrowing against it. When borrowing against your items, you can get the best of both worlds. You get immediate access to the funds you need, and you get to maintain ownership since the jewelry is returned to you once the loan is repaid. It’s a win, win! As soon as your maximum loan value is determined, you can draw funds up and down like a traditional line of credit. This process is quick, safe, confidential, and has zero effect on your credit score. Demand Is Key

Being knowledgeable of the current market demand is imperative for receiving the maximum offer. This is what Diamond Banc’s elite staff are experts in. For example, in the early 2000s, everyone wanted trendy princess-cut or square-cut diamonds. Since there was such high demand for them and everyone bought one, the market is now flooded with them, resulting in much lower demand now. So then one would ask, what types of items are currently in demand? Round brilliant cut diamonds are almost always a top seller and likely always will be due to their timelessness. Other items in high demand are: Rolex sports model watches, fine designer jewelry from designers such as Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, etc. Designers known globally are always in high demand. Diamond Banc is Tampa’s leading resource for clients seeking a buyer for their jewelry, diamonds or luxury watches. They are the distinguished destination to sell or obtain a loan in an upscale, luxury environment. They specialize in buying diamonds, designer jewelry, gold jewelry, luxury watches and so much more. Diamond Banc willingly purchases single items to entire estates and provides ultra flexible, consumer friendly loan terms for those who wish to borrow money against their jewelry. Whether you’re seeking immediate funding or just merely exploring your options, Diamond Banc is available for a zero pressure, zero obligation, zero cost evaluation of your items to strategize the solution that best suits your needs. Start the process online at DiamondBanc.com or give them a call at (813) 609-4331 to schedule an appointment today at 3401 Henderson Blvd Suite E, Tampa, FL 33609.

Beautiful Otherness By Courtney Caggiano

PEOPLE

“The things that I would dare to do, I made

sure that Kennedy did all of that, and she did some crazy things.” Although she may seem like an author with years of published work to her name, Simmons is more of a wunderkind—Orlando’s very own literary prodigy. From Simmons’ emotive prose to her profound perceptiveness as a writer, many readers will be surprised to learn that Simmons is a first-time novelist. With her captivating new novel, Beautiful Otherness, Simmons shatters expectations in both the literary world and her own life as she tells the story of a woman understanding the power and beauty of her true identity. Well before Simmons began crafting her groundbreaking debut novel, she experienced a moment of what can only be called divine inspiration. “25 years ago, a mentor told me I would be writing this book, so it was like a prophecy, to be honest,” Simmons shares. “There was a time in my life when I was going through a transition and I was having a wonderful time, a great social life, doing everything I wanted to do, but I felt like I should be doing something more. So, when I thought about what she told me, I said, let me start to develop a character. And that’s what I did.” This sudden fulfillment of calling placed upon her decades ago is what brought to life Kennedy Davenport—the electric and enticing leading lady of Beautiful Otherness. “I wanted her to be intriguing, I wanted her to be exciting, I wanted her to be funny, adventurous, and sometimes frustrating,” Simmons shares about her main character. As Kennedy Davenport comes face to face with her unpleasant past, she begins a transforming journey of discovering the beauty in the story that has shaped the woman of honor and impact that she has become. However fictional Davenport may be, within her character are very real echoes of Simmons’ own traits and passions. “It was more like an alter ego,” Simmons shares about Kennedy’s character. “The things that I would dare to do, I made sure that Kennedy did all of that, and she did some crazy things.” While Davenport and Simmons share certain aspects of life— calling the pristine lakes of Windermere home, maintaining an active social life, and dedicating much of their time to notable causes—Simmons has brilliantly crafted her lead character in such a way that her personality, experiences, and lessons learned along the road of life will resonate with an endless variety of readers. “I think that every reader will find a Kennedy Davenport within themselves. I think that they will be able to relate to something that she has done or some type of interesting adventure that she has gone on.” It is Simmons’ desire that her readers take the universal truths within Beautiful Otherness to heart—a desire that transforms this book from merely a novel to a testament of a life redefined by a fresh perspective of self. “I want my readers to know that no matter what they go through in life, I don’t care how devastating, how embarrassing, how shameful it may be, they can always come

out on the other side and be beautiful and shine and be who they are naturally.” “Most importantly, the book is about helping people going through different things. Whatever your otherness is, peel back the layers and go through that otherness, because once you get through the otherness, you will see the beautiful side of yourself,” she states. “That’s why the book is named Beautiful Otherness, because everybody has otherness; they don’t always have time within their busy lives to deal with the otherness.” Simmons is thrilled to finally be sharing Kennedy Davenport’s story with readers everywhere…and she means literally everywhere. “It started out just being on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, but I was so excited because I received an email that now the book is being carried in Target and so many other stores. It’s in Canada, it’s in Europe…when I was looking at some of the places where the book was going to be sold, I couldn’t even read what they were saying because it wasn’t in English…so I’m really excited.” Thankfully for her readers all over the world, Beautiful Otherness is only the beginning of Simmons’ career. “I’m super excited about what I’m seeing as of now, for me to be a first-time published author, and I’ve already started on my second novel,” Simmons explains. “It’s going to be in a sense a sequel, but I’m going to do a different turn, a different spin. It will still talk about Kennedy, because Kennedy has a lot to be said about her and everyone needs to know, ‘Who is Kennedy Davenport?’” Simmons plans to write at least three books, a feat that her mentor who served as her inspiration told her she would accomplish. She also plans to travel and tour, taking the moral of Kennedy Davenport’s story into the hearts and lives of readers worldwide. “I plan to make people feel comfortable with who they are so that they’re not embarrassed about whatever they may have gone through within their childhood, within their life. I want them to be free, and that’s what this book is about; it’s about the beautiful otherness. I want everyone to deal with their otherness and expose it for what it is so they can be free and be who they are as a person and live a great life.” To our Orlando Style readers, Simmons wants to share the message of Beautiful Otherness in a way that will forever change your understanding of yourself. “Along with style and social life and all those wonderful things, I want [you] to pull back the layers and deal with [your] otherness so [you] can really be beautiful.” You can purchase your copy of Beautiful Otherness at www. shirleybsimmons.com and follow Simmons on Facebook at “Beautiful Otherness” and Instagram @shirleybsimmons.

DONT MISS THE BEAT STYLE MD

Gryffin At The Vanguard

The Vanguard is Downtown Orlando's new entertainment destination and the largest independently owned concert venue in Central Florida. Thanks to a newly completed multimillion-dollar renovation, the facility is now fully equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lights that were put to the test during an electrifying DJ set by L.A.-based artist/producer Gryffin. Born Dan Griffith, Gryffin got his start in music as a classically trained pianist and guitarist and also played in several bands. After receiving an electrical engineering degree from the University of Southern California, he pursued a path in music production, drawing equally from his carefully honed musicality and edgy ingenuity. Gryffin made his breakthrough in 2016 with two singles showcasing his melodic take on dance music: “Heading Home” ft. Josef Salvat (which shot to #1 on Spotify’s US and Global Viral charts) and the Bipolar Sunshine collaboration “Whole Heart.” In addition, his 2017 smash single “Feel Good” — with Illenium and featuring Daya — peaked at #18 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts. Gryffin’s major triumphs also include “Tie Me Down” ft. Elley Duhé (which hit #2 on the Spotify US Viral Chart and #9 on the Global Viral Chart), “Remember” ft. Zohara (which garnered 6.5 million streams in its first few weeks), and “All You Need to Know” with SLANDER ft. Calle Lehmann (a gold-certified smash that’s now surpassed 100 million streams). Arriving in October 2019, Gryffin’s debut album Gravity quickly climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Though currently in the middle of his Las Vegas residency at The Wynn’s Encore Beach Club and XS Nightclub, Gryffin is also performing at major markets across the U.S. and I was fortunate enough to catch one of these powerful shows myself when he passed through Orlando. Having just recently unveiled a new single entitled “Best Is Yet To Come” with buzzing California singer Kyle Reynolds, my companions and I were eager to enjoy this ultimate summer anthem alongside a slew of other uplifting tracks and Gryffin did not disappoint. From remixes of classic party hits like Whitney Houston’s “Dance With Somebody” and modern favorites like Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” to plenty of original Gryffin tracks such as my personal favorite “All You Need To Know”—it was an unforgettable night of music, joy, entertainment, and most surprisingly for me, love. The explosive energy of the crowd was only matched by the spectacular intensity and raw passion that radiated from Gryffin’s stage presence and it quickly became evident that Gryffin’s fanbase is a reflection of the joyful and optimistic music that he himself has become known for. On every side, my companions and I were surrounded by the utmost spirited, care-free individuals who wanted to do nothing but jump, dance and sing along with the hundreds of strangers-turned-friends all around us. It was an experience like no other and one that left me eagerly on the lookout for new music and tour dates to be coming from Gryffin soon. By Riesa Pascal Photo Credit: Ashley Osborne

SWEATER VESTS

You’ll hate to love it.

Yes, sweater vests...the kind grandpas wear. Everyone is loving them. And in the Florida winters that are still a bit away, a sweater vest is perfect since it’s not a full-on jacket. This piece offers just enough to keep you warm and be stylish at the same time. Brands have caught on and designed adorable iterations of the classic layering piece for 2021. It’s also great for those days when you don’t know what to wear or when you just need something “extra” to add “umph” to your look. The knitwear essential will come to the rescue—serving as an extra layer atop your go-to white button-down or long sleeve.

Tailored on Tailored The “smart” look has always been a trendy one, but now more than ever. Buttondowns are layered under vests, over turtlenecks, under jackets, under long coats, over trousers—and sometimes belted and finished with a tie. These can be paired with heels, sneakers, or flats. The great thing is that this tailored look can be made dressy or casual.

SNEAKERS FOR EVERYTHING The shoe that will never go away...ever. There are a handful of outfit ideas that will always look good, especially that classic pairing of items that will never go out of style. But in recent times, our favorite pairing would have to be a dress and sneakers. Don’t get us wrong, sneakers are a staple and go with pretty much anything, but we’d have to say that dresses and sneakers take the cake. Who would have thought that they would make such an interesting pair? The ultra-feminine dress with the boy-ish sneaker. That’s why it works!

Trench-y Is it too hot to wear long sport coats? Perhaps, but there are a few chilly nights in Florida that will allow you to rock the ever-so-elegant trench. It’s the perfect clothing piece to layer up or throw over that five-minute outfit you threw on Monday morning. You can find almost any kind of material to fit your style and needs such as wool, tweed, flannel and corduroy. Besides the obvious elegance the trench coat brings to your outfit, it helps protect you and your clothes in almost any kind of weather conditions. And in Florida, it will definitely be appreciated when caught in a downpour. You can’t go wrong with a trench coat, for they will never go out of style. You can dress it up or down. The options are endless!

HOW TO DRESS FOR FALL

In Florida

Florida, the state that feels like fall and winter are only a week long. We see all of the fall fashion trends with the layering, scarves, boots, beanies, jackets, and thick sweaters, but when will we ever have the opportunity to wear them in Florida? Fear not, here are tips and options that will help you look the part, without feeling like 100 degrees. And let’s face it, we love options. Let start with the easiest and most practical, a jacket. In Florida, there really isn’t a need for a thick jacket, but we love the look of one. When shopping for a jacket, consider lightweight fabrics such as jacquard, tweed and boucle, and thin wool fabrics, to name a few. Another tip when shopping for a jacket is to see if it is lined. Lined jackets have more durability compared to a jacket that isn’t lined. However, a lined jacket keeps you warmer than a jacket

without lining. If this is of importance to you, maybe consider looking to see if a jacket is lined or not. Next up is scarves. Do we really need scarves in Florida? It depends on who you ask. As far as your neck is concerned, no, but for the outfit, yes. When shopping for scarves, cotton scarves are a great alternative to the thick wool scarves. Not only will cotton not make your neck sweat, but it won’t make you want to scratch your neck off from the itchiness of wool scarves. Similar to the jackets we spoke about earlier, when shopping for pants, look for lightweight fabrics. Also, choose darker or “fall” colors such as burgundy, maroon, brown, burnt orange, charcoal, dark green, and navy. As far as fabrics and style, chinos and joggers are great options, and they flatter most body types.

KANA CBD SLEEPING MASK A CBD sleeping mask brings new meaning to ‘beauty sleep’. The mask is meant to be worn overnight to repair damaged skin while you sleep. Rather than a thick, goopy mask, the KANA lavender sleep mask dries without leaving sticky residue, leaving skin feeling firm and protected. The mask contains organic CBD infused with 28 other active botanicals, natural brightening agents, and essential oils that will leave your skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated. kanaskincare.com / $45

A DOPE NEW WAY TO DO SKINCARE CBD might be exactly what you need in your skincare routine. You might have heard about CBD (short for cannabidiol) being used to treat various health and medical issues, like pain and anxiety. As it turns out, CBD might be your ticket to clearer, calmer skin, too. CBD products are taking over the skincare world and proving themselves to be beneficial additives to skin lotions, face creams, and serums. CBD oil can be extracted from the hemp plant but don’t worry, hemp derived CBD is legal in all fifty states. This ‘highly’ effective ingredient won’t actually get you high, but it’s perfect for people looking to reap the natural benefits without the mind-altering effects of marijuana. CBD has also gained popularity due to its remarkable anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Antioxidants work to counter signs of aging skin using its essential fatty acids, which increases your skin’s elasticity and hydration and gives skin the appearance of a youthful glow. Research has shown that it lessens the severity of wrinkles and brightens skin. Acne can also be tackled with the help of CBD. Since acne is an inflammatory condition, the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD are helpful in visibly reducing the appearance of breakouts. It’s especially calming to skin redness, often caused by irritated skin as a result of acne and other skin conditions. Stock up on CBD skincare products while you can, because we think it’s worth the hype.

Anyone who isn’t a Florida native, or has ever washed their hair in a state with soft water, knows how much worse your hair feels after a wash in the relentless Florida water. Dryness, lack of shine, and rough texture are a few of the results of poor water quality on your skin and hair. You might be thinking, “I haven’t noticed these gnarly effects on my delicate strands,” but after a single wash under a filtered shower head, we think you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about! Florida water is considered ‘hard’ because it is a Karstic State, meaning that a large portion of the land is limestone. Much of this limestone dissolves in the water, making it rich in minerals like calcium and magnesium. Not only do these minerals make sink water taste undrinkable, but they cause serious damage to skin and hair health overtime. Hair products like shampoo get stuck in your hair when you shower with hard water, and never completely wash out. This is caused by excess

minerals reacting with hair soap to form calcium and magnesium salts, which don’t dissolve easily. This can create a build-up of product and minerals in the hair, leading to a hard film lining on the hair and scalp, making hair feel rougher, tangled, and more prone to breakage. Colored hair is also at risk to fade more quickly when washed regularly with hard water. Why pay your hairstylist a pretty penny, only to ruin the beautiful radiance of your hair color in just a few washes? These same minerals leave a coating on skin, making it dry and dull. Additionally, hard water can be irritating to sensitive skin because it can cause itching, peeling, and other forms of breakage. A shower head filter is the perfect solution to weed out unwanted minerals and chemicals that are detrimental to our bodies. Once you have peace of mind that the water you bathe in is clear, you can feel free to enjoy every shower with the confidence that you’re bringing your skin and hair back to life.

Plant-Based Milk The Dairy Alternative That Everyone Is Raving About Oat, almond, and soy, oh my. By Shelby Newman

Plant-based milk has become the ‘moove’ these days as cow’s milk goes out of style. In addition to its great taste and health benefits, it can be easily swapped with dairy products we eat in our everyday. Do you put calorie-heavy creamers in your daily coffee? Try using low-calorie and creamy oat milk instead of dairy creamer. Eat a bowl of Wheaties in the morning? Try replacing cow’s milk with some unsweetened almond milk – the cereal will act as a natural sweetener to the milk. Pro-tip: add a splash of plant-based milk when cooking scrambled eggs for a more creamy and fluffy texture. And the best part? There is something for everyone. With an endless list of options, you’re certain to find one that you enjoy. Whether you’re vegan, gluten-free, allergic to nuts, or simply a picky eater, there are countless plant-based milk options that are sure to check off your boxes. There are a number of reasons, health and morality related, that people are making the switch from dairy milk to options like oat, almond, soy, rice, coconut, and even pea milk. Recent scandals involving dairy farms exposed an ugly side to dairy production. Some farms mistreat cows, and even allow them to suffer in inhumane conditions. To support the betterment of farm animals, many people are choosing cow’s milk alternatives. Cow’s milk, despite what they told you in first grade, is actually not great for your health. Instead

of improving bone health, it does the opposite by depleting our bones of the calcium it needs. Additionally, a single serving of dairy milk contains as much as 24 milligrams of cholesterol and more than 20 percent of the daily-recommended dose of saturated fat, which is harmful to the heart. Plantbased milk, however, contains no cholesterol and little to no fat. Looking for an extra boost of protein in your diet? Soy milk provides the highest amount of protein of plant-based milk alternatives, while having fewer calories. It can contain up to eight grams of protein per cup, which is equivalent to the amount of protein in a cup of cow’s milk. Soy milk is also considered the most nutritionally similar to cow’s milk, allowing you to reap many of the nourishing benefits of cow’s milk without the detriments. It’s also filled with antioxidants and fiber, which are added bonuses. Oat milk, while also containing protein, has closer to four grams of protein per cup, but its high fiber content makes it richer and more filling than other plantbased milk alternatives. Next time you’re browsing the dairy section at the grocery store, remember that making the switch to plant-based milk is easy. Buying a pint of almond milk this week is a small price to pay in exchange for saving your future self, the planet, and the cows.

CELEBRITY SOUP

Celebrities Who Own Food Chains Your favorite stars serving up your favorite meals Have you ever had so much money that you didn’t know what to do with it? No? Okay, well I guess you and I have something in common because let’s be real—celebrity wealth is unlike anything the average person will ever experience. When you’re worth hundreds of millions, it can be easy to not know what to do with all that extra cash laying around. Some stars will invest in stocks, real estate, expensive handbags or lavish cars, but if you ask me, the wise ones jump into the restaurant business. Numerous stars have founded their own eateries (I’m looking at you Mark Wahlberg), but some of the most successful celebs have put their money towards restaurant chains that are already established. From the king of the basketball court to the Queen of England, here are 10 celebrities that you may be shocked to learn are restaurant franchise owners.

CELEBRITY SOUP

LEBRON JAMES

King James may be known for his hoop skills, but that’s not his only way of paying the bills. In 2014, James raked in $30 million in Beats acquisition by doing nothing more than wearing a pair of headphones. His major payday with the brand allowed him to reinvest some of his profit into the restaurant business. Today, James owns a major stake in the Blaze Pizza chain, including franchises in Chicago and Miami. According to ESPN, his $1 million buy-in with the brand was worth $35 million just five years later. Now that’s what I call a return on investment! PEYTON MANNING

No matter how you feel about Peyton Manning, you can’t deny that he is one of the savviest celebrities in sports. His flawless mastery of football and his nearly squeaky clean public image has led him the Hall of Famer to be called one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. In spite of his success however, Manning wasn’t one to put all his ‘football eggs’ in one basket so to speak. After signing with the Broncos in 2012, he also purchased dozens of Papa John’s pizzerias in the Denver area. Needless to say, Manning was also quick to appear in commercials for the chain which further increased his profit until 2018 when he sold all 31 of his franchises just two days before the announcement that the NFL and Papa John’s were parting ways. SHAQUILLE O’NEAL

While Manning continues to be involved with the pizza franchise as a brand ambassador and spokesperson, there’s another beloved athlete who jumped into business with Papa John’s and picked up right where Manning left off. In 2019, Shaquille O’Neal bought nine Papa John’s locations around Atlanta, but that’s just a fraction of his wise investments in the food industry. The serial entrepreneur has also owned a Krispy Kreme franchise and more than a dozen Auntie Anne’s pretzel shops. Perhaps he needed something to keep himself busy during retirement. I mean that’s the only logical way to also explain his ownership of 155 Five Guys restaurants — approximately 10% of the entire burger chain. Though he has since sold his Five Guys restaurants, I have a feeling we haven’t heard the last of O’Neal and his franchises. PHIL MICKELSON

Golfing pro Phil Mickelson is one of the most popular, accomplished, and wealthy pro golfers in history. Outranked by only Tiger Woods, there are few golfers in PGA Tour history who have made as much money from tournaments as Mickelson. Earnings of over $94 million for his skills on the course have afforded him many opportunities for investments and it looks like he may have derived some inspiration from Shaq. The golfer doesn’t just own one or two Five Guys, Mikelson leads a group that owns Five Guys franchises throughout Southern California, where he was born and raised. His role as a franchisee garnered some negative attention in 2010 when he made a comment to the press about how much he liked the burgers at Five Guys without disclosing his affiliation with the chain. MAGIC JOHNSON

Along with Shaq, NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson has also proven himself to be wise in the ways of athleteturned-investor. So much so in fact that Johnson has his own investment company appropriately called Magic Johnson Enterprises. Throughout his lengthy NBA career, Magic earned just under $40 million in salary, but today he is worth a whopping $600 million. He is arguably the gold standard for celebrities who wish to have great success in franchising and his incredible portfolio has included everything from Burger King and T.G.I. Friday’s locations to more than 100 Starbucks

locations from 1998 to 2010. Johnson was an early believer in the massive expansion potential of the coffee franchise and often built his cafes in urban neighborhoods while chaning the menu to cater to his market. JIMMY BUFFET

Most of us are well aware that Jimmy Buffett has his own line of restaurants called Margaritaville, but did you know that he’s also a doughnut aficionado who has waded into the franchising game? Buffett is the proud owner of a Krispy Kreme shop located in West Palm Beach, Florida. In 2002, Buffet joined forces and combined operations with the parent company and other Krispy Kreme franchisers to create the South Florida Partnership, which oversees and is in charge of accelerating all Krispy Kreme growth in the area. KANYE WEST

Those of you who’ve lived in or visited Los Angeles for any period of time should be well familiar with Fatburger. The beloved restaurant chain is praised by countless celebrities and was even mentioned in Ice Cube’s 1992 track “It Was a Good Day.” While Kanye West and even Pharrell Williams may not have a hit song about the chain, they can both still count themselves amongst Fatburger’s long list of celebrity franchisees which also includes Montel Williams and even Queen Latifah who once got in trouble for trying to hide her Fatburger connection since it clashed with her job as a Jenny Craig spokeswoman. VENUS WILLIAMS

Pharrell Williams and Venus Willliams share more than just a last name. Much like Pharrell’s venture into becoming a franchisee for Fatburger, Venus has also invested into the business of restaurant franchising. That’s where the similarities end though as I think we can all agree that Jamba Juice doesn’t exactly attract the same crowds as Fatburger. For the tennis legend, William’s portfolio includes several Jamba Juice locations in the Washington metro area. She spoke of her affection for the chain in a press announcement saying, “I share Jamba’s mission to inspire and simplify healthy living and promote a healthy active lifestyle.” RICK ROSS

Perhaps Rick Ross has been spending some time at Jamba Juice as he has made headlines for losing an impressive amount of weight in recent years. While we can’t really attribute it to Jamba Juice, I think it’s at least safe to say that he probably isn’t eating too many chicken wings from his own Wingstop franchises. Ross is actually a major investor in Wingstop and has been a franchisee for years. In 2014, the rapper was reported to have raked in about $7 million from his franchises and he owns even more today! As of 2019, Ross reportedly owned 28 Wingstop locations and this year Ross helped the company to launch Thighstop in response to the current chicken wing shortage. QUEEN ELIZABETH II

I admit that this sounds a little far-fetched, but even Queen Elizabeth II is a franchisee of multiple establishments and one of them happens to be America’s biggest fast-food chain. Believe it or not, through The Crown Estate, the British monarch actually owns a McDonald’s franchise in Banbury, England—but wait, there’s more! The Crown’s holdings in that town also include both a Starbucks and a Costa Coffee. Unsurprisingly, the Royal Family is rarely spotted near their McDonald’s which is located about 80 miles away from Buckingham Palace. Something tells me that distance isn’t the only reason we never see the queen chomping down on a Big Mac sandwich, but maybe that’s just me.

BARFLY

From homemadefoodjunkie.com

BARFLY Ingredients • 1/4 cup Malibu rum with coconut liqueur • 1/2 cup pineapple juice • 2 tablespoons of grenadine (to make the bottom of the glass red)

Garnish with: • 2 maraschino cherries • 1 slice of pineapple

Recipe - Put 3-4 ice cubes in the bottom of a glass.

- Pour the pineapple juice and the rum over the ice.

- Pour the grenadine slowly down one side of the glass (pouring too fast will mix the grenadine in and you won’t get the color separation).

- Stick 2 cherries and a pineapple chunk on a toothpick for a garnish.

Enjoy!

MALIBU SUNSET

No Beach Necessary

A predominantly sweet drink, this eye-catching cocktail will make you think of paradise no matter the weather. It may get a bad rep as the “Malibu Barbie”, but no one can deny its popularity. Served over ice, it is fruity, refreshing and too easy to sip on. Though typically served in a hurricane glass, any will do. Two cherries and a pineapple chunk on a toothpick are the perfect garnish to extend

the sunset a little bit longer. The cherries will give an extra burst of sweetness while a pineapple chunk will absorb the cocktail for a bold final bite. Orange slices are another bright and tangy option, even as an extra splash. Any fresh fruit lovers can opt to blend or juice their own pineapple or oranges for a more tart flavor. Enjoy one whatever the occasion before the warm weather ends.

The vibrant area boasts a unique confluence of history, climate, natural beauty, cultural diversity, architecture and unabashed romantic appeal. TAMPA’S ATTORNEYS OF THE YEAR 2021

HOW DO I FIND A LAWYER? Florida has more than 85,000 licensed lawyers practicing in the state. How do you know which one is right for you? First, make sure the person you are

considering hiring is an attorney. You can do this by going to The Florida Bar website at www.floridabar.org. If you have questions, call membership records at The Florida Bar at 850-561-5832. If you believe the person is not an attorney but is claiming to be one, call The Florida Bar Unlicensed Practice of Law Department at 850-561-5840. Make a careful search for your lawyer; it’s an important decision. Your goal should be to find a lawyer you are comfortable with as a person and as a professional. Many legal matters involve personal considerations, and your lawyer often will need to know confidential information about you, your family and your finances to be truly effective in serving you. In your preliminary research, you should focus on compiling a list of the names of lawyers who may be qualified to handle your case. Your ‘follow-up’ research will include making phone calls to those lawyers’ offices then visiting one or a few to find the attorney you want to handle your case. To begin, consider a lawyer’s reputation. Have you heard people speak highly of a particular attorney’s talents or work? Think about your acquaintances who are, or may know, lawyers. Ask those who work with attorneys in their profession, or someone whose opinion you respect — an employer, lawyer at your workplace, banker, teacher, minister, doctor or other professional, relative, neighbor or friend. The best recommendations often come from people who hired a lawyer to successfully resolve a problem similar to yours.

Special Promotional Feature

Another check you can do is to see if the attorney has a discipline history — meaning the person has received a professional discipline for violating the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. You can find out this information by going to the attorney’s profile page on The Florida Bar website. Once the attorney’s page appears, scroll down until you see the words: ‘10-Year Discipline History.’ If there is no discipline, the word ‘None’ will appear to the right of the name. If there is a history, the word ‘Yes’ will appear, with a link to documents regarding the discipline. You can use that information to ask the attorney about this episode. You also may call 866-352-0707 and follow the prompts to check a lawyer’s discipline history. A new and growing development in Florida and other states is the prepaid legal services plan. Through a prepaid legal program, an individual or group pays a premium, something like health insurance, to receive such services as free consultations and advice, with prescribed fees for follow-up services. Before hiring an attorney or before you even think you might need one, you should check to see if your employer, union or other organization of which you are a member offers a prepaid legal service plan as a benefit. Most areas in Florida also have legal aid and public defender offices, which provide legal help without cost or at a nominal fee to people who cannot afford to pay a lawyer. Legal aid offices provide advice in some non-criminal cases such as those relating to small money claims for wages; disputes between borrowers and lenders; landlord-tenant problems; and domestic relations matters. Public defender offices handle criminal cases for indigent people.

A potential client also can use regional, state or national directories of lawyers and law firms, some containing detailed biographical information and client listings. These volumes — some specially produced for consumer education, and others used by lawyers to identify attorneys in other localities — often can be found in public libraries. Lists of recommended attorneys are also circulated within special interest groups. Aside from this information, some lawyers are now using consumer advertising on radio, television, newspapers, magazines, in other media and on the web to inform the public of their services and charges for certain routine legal matters.

Comment: Tampa Style Magazine has received lawyer recommendations from many peers and our readers. The results are presented in the following list and in addition, several professionals have taken the opportunity to present their experiences and profiles to you in the following special feature.

Giasi Law, P.A. Melissa Giasi, Esq., Mike Giasi, Esq. & Erin Berger, Esq. APPELLATE LAW / PROPERTY INSURANCE LAW / CRIMINAL DEFENSE

Founded in 2015 by Mike, Giasi Law is a dynamic boutique law firm that was created to provide superior and aggressive legal representation and counsel to each of its clients. Mike is both a skilled civil litigator and a seasoned criminal defense attorney who uses his trial talents to help clients in both arenas. Mike zealously defends clients charged with violating Federal or state crimes. In doing so, Mike takes his role as counselor seriously and firmly believes that part of his representation is to help each client navigate the scary and intimidating process of defending against criminal charges. This means that Mike remains accessible to his clients and also that he makes it a priority to explain each step of the process and making sure his clients have all the information they need to make these difficult decisions. Mike focuses on defending clients charged with insurance fraud and other financial crimes, but he has extensive experience defending RICO, trafficking and other drug crimes and has tried over one hundred cases to verdict. Most of his time in civil court is spent acting as an advocate for policyholders wronged by insurance companies but Mike has had much success for clients involved in business and contract disputes. Mike is also frequently hired by clients named in personal injury lawsuits to supervise the attorneys hired by the insurance carrier. Melissa joined forces with Mike at Giasi Law in 2018. She is board certified by the Florida Bar in Appellate Practice. Most of her time is spent prosecuting and defending appeals in Florida’s district courts of appeal and the Florida Supreme Court, but Melissa also handles Federal appellate cases as well as select commercial litigation cases at the trial court level. Melissa is an expert in appellate practice and her clients rely on Melissa to navigate the obstacles that frequently arise during jury trials as well as the minefields of appellate preservation. Melissa does not just step in after a case is over. As appellate counsel, she is often actively involved in

cases far before the case goes to trial. Melissa frequently appeals adverse rulings prior to trial with the goal of giving her client the best possible chance to prevail at trial while simultaneously preserving her client’s right to challenge an unfavorable outcome. Erin Berger joined Giasi Law in 2019. Her primary focus is appellate work, but she also brought with her 15 years of litigation experience in various areas of law including real estate, first- and third-party insurance claims, construction, general business and employment law. Erin gained valuable experience in trial and appellate advocacy early in her career when she worked as a law clerk for the Honorable David A. Monaco at the Fifth District Court of Appeal, and then went on to work as a law clerk for the Honorable Marcia Morales-Howard, a District Court Judge with the Middle District of Florida. Erin took that foundation and training and has built a successful career focusing on appellate advocacy. She has prosecuted and defended lawsuits and appeals on behalf of large institutional lenders and insurers, as well as individual homeowners in every appellate court in Florida, including the Florida Supreme Court. Having represented various clients on both sides of a dispute, Erin is able to see each case from many perspectives and offers each client invaluable advice in navigating the court system and creating the best possible chance for success. The true glue that unites the talent at Giasi Law is the passion that both Melissa, Erin and Mike have for helping their clients get the benefits they are entitled to from insurance companies. At the trial court level, Mike determinedly litigates all matters pertaining to the rights of an insured in all first-party actions, including undervaluation and underpayment of a claim, denial of coverage, and insurer bad faith. At the appellate level, Melissa and Erin are both working tirelessly to level the playing field for insureds who are forced to sue their insurance companies. Giasi Law is proud to be featured in this issue of Tampa Style Magazine.

When you meet Candice there is an obvious air of relentless tenacity and her tireless work shows a commitment to ensuring that the law is used to protect the underrepresented equally and equitably. Years ago, after seeing the exploitation of many home and commercial property owners by insurance companies after devastating Hurricanes, Candice discovered that it is common practice for an Insurance Company to deny, delay, or underpay their insurance claims, while leaving the innocent property owner in deplorable circumstances and without recourse. The year 2021 was no different for Candice and her team. Battling a global pandemic, natural disasters, and political uproar, Candice and her team were at the forefront of advocacy without hesitation. Candice provided supplies and “boots on the ground” efforts to those directly affected by Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Sally. She assisted in leading workshops and education courses to public adjusters and contractors to

best educate and represent insureds to make a difference. She volunteered countless pro bono hours of free legal advice and policy review to victims of insurance company failures. Candice believes that knowledge is power and continues to give Free Legal Information on her Podcast called, “Legal Gangster”. With the immense success of her practice, she most recently expanded to a 10,000sq feet location in Clearwater, housing a team of legal advocates and emergency mobile disaster team ready to mobilize in the event of a catastrophe in any state. The National Alliance of Women in Law honored Candice as a “Top Attorney.” Candice is also recognized as a “Lawyer of Distinction” in Insurance Law. Other awards Candice has received include, the American Institute of Legal Advocates, “Rising Star” for having the highest ethical standards and providing top-tier advocacy for her clients, and the American Academy of Attorneys, “Top 40 under 40”; having been recognized as an attorney who exemplifies excellence. She has dedicated her time and her practice to fighting back against injustices across many fields. In every avenue such as legislation, emergency efforts, business regulation she is a dependable advocate and a person of extraordinary character. “I strive to live a life of public service and advocacy. Family law matters are uniquely personal and often emotional in a way that other areas of law are not. For that reason, Gurley Law, P.A. is a solution-focused practice that strives to help their clients through their difficult marital and family law matters to reach a fair resolution. Heather Gurley, Esq. grew up in the Midwest and ultimately graduated from high school in North Dakota. Heather obtained her B.A. in History from the University of South Florida and then obtained her law degree from Stetson University College of Law. As a single mother attending law school and working full time as a paralegal, Heather often joked that her future biographies would lack the impressive achievements and participations in various organizations other attorneys would have because her priority was ensuring she and her son had a roof over their heads and something more than ramen to eat. After law school, Heather was employed with a marital and family law firm where she not only gained extensive litigation experience, but she also discovered she

truly enjoyed the practice of marital and family law. In 2017, Heather opened Gurley Law, P.A. and the firm continues to grow. Lillian Reyes-Joyce, Robert Joyce & Jamison Joyce Joyce & Reyes Law Firm- A Family Affair

Lillian and Bob have been married since 1986 and they have been practicing law together since 1987. They have always felt that their clients and staff were part of their family. So it was perfect when their son Jamison graduated from University of Florida Law School and joined the practice in 2017. The firm is a plaintiff 's personal injury litigation firm. They have a different business model from most plaintiff 's firms. They sign up fewer cases than many of their colleagues, but their goal is to maximize the recovery for the client which often leads to litigation, but it inures to the benefit of the client. Although this approach is more labor intensive, they have found that it results in a higher recovery for the client. As a result, their main referral sources are former clients, insurance adjusters and defense attorneys. They are rightfully proud of their firm and their business model.

Mickey Keenan Mickey Keenan, PA - Personal Injury Attorneys MICKEY KEENAN, P.A. is a boutique law firm helping accident victims get the money they deserve so they can focus on their recovery and get back to living. In 1994, Mickey, a native New Yorker, moved to Tampa, Florida, where he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and began his college education at Hillsborough Community College. During his first year of military service, Mickey deployed to Haiti for “Operation Uphold Democracy”. Upon his return, he renewed his studies at Hillsborough Community College, which led to his attendance and subsequent graduation from the University of South Florida (USF) in 1999. While at the University, he served as an Assistant to Dr. Susan McManus. After USF, he attended the Levin School of Law at the University of Florida. In 2003, while in the final semester of Law School, Mickey was once more called to service with the Army, deploying this time to the Middle East for duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom. This final deployment redefined Mickey’s life and legal career. Mickey returned from his service in the Middle East and began his legal career practicing insurance defense work, first as an Associate, at Gallagher & Howard, then as a Partner in Gallagher & Keenan. Although his experiences were rewarding, he felt the need to give back, to help others. In 2014, Mickey founded the firm “MICKEY KEENAN, P.A.” The mission of the firm is to provide personal care to each client, ensuring that all enjoy the family experience it offers. The entire team at “MICKEY KEENAN, P.A.”, is available for each and every client. The team seeks to care for all of a client’s needs. These would include issues as diverse as the receipt of proper medical care, the obtaining of a replacement vehicle, and finally the reward of fair compensation through settlement or at trial. Mickey is sensitive to the stress and fear that result from the recovery from an injury, the payment of medical bills, and the challenge of the return to a normal life. Service in the Army and the deployments and experiences that service brought, provided a new appreciation for the gifts and good fortune he has been provided. The product of a strong, loving family, Mickey has been ingrained with the core values of duty, honor and loyalty. These personal attributes are now enhanced by his compassion and commitment to serving those in need. “MICKEY KEENAN, P.A.” is a reflection of that dedication to service. Mickey and his team use their experience and arsenal of legal tools to provide clients the service and justice they seek and deserve. Mickey is committed to ensuring that his clients are secure in the knowledge that they are not alone through the legal journey that lies ahead. The maxim at “MICKEY KEENAN, P.A.” is that the handling of a personal injury matter is more than just to obtain compensation for the client; but to guide them on the return to normalcy. When you join the “MICKEY KEENAN, P.A.” family, You Are Not Alone. Accidents happen and when they do, our family is here for you.

Eliane I. Probasco Probasco Marital & Family Law

Having dedicated her entire career to assisting individuals

through the family law process, Eliane (“Ellie”) Probasco has a deep understanding of the nuances and complexities of what it takes to be successful in her field. Ellie has practiced exclusively in the area of marital and family law in the Tampa Bay area since her admission to the Florida Bar in 2002. She earned her J.D. from Florida State University in 2002 after receiving her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Florida in 1999. Ellie has been involved in several legal organizations, including the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Family Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Stann W. Givens Family Law American Inn of Court of Tampa, the Collaborative Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Tampa Bay Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers. Ellie understands that family law is unlike any other area of the law. For most people, family law court is their first experience with the legal system. “My objective is to help clients understand the process and provide relief from the stress and anxiety that can come from navigating the unfamiliar legal system,” says Ellie. “Family law cases are like snowflakes. No two relationships are alike, so no two cases are alike. That is why it is important to me to get to know my clients and to get to know their goals and objectives. At the outset of the case, I meet with my client to formulate a strategy that best meets those goals and objectives.” In 2016, Ellie was honored to receive the Stann W. Givens Family Law Inn of Tampa’s Theodore Millison Professionalism Award. This honor is given annually to an Inn member in recognition of exceptional professionalism in the practice of family law. “I try to leave my clients in a better position than when they first come to see me. That is no easy task considering that most people leave with half of their assets and less time with their children. But, if I can help someone through this difficult time, if I can help someone see there is life after family law litigation, I have done my job.” Ellie’s practice includes dissolution of marriage, paternity, timesharing disputes, child support, division of assets and liabilities including business interests, real estate, and enhancement of non-marital assets, andSabrina alimony. Barbara J. Pittman Law Offices Of Barbara J. Pittman, P.A.

Works of Wonder Photography

Barbara J. “BJ” Pittman is one of those rare attorneys who did not always want to be an attorney. Growing up in rural Jackson County (Florida Panhandle), she did not know any attorneys. Her first exposure to an attorney was during her parents’ divorce when she was a teenager. She graduated from tiny Graceville High School in 1973. (Trivia: one of her classmates is a current sitting Florida Supreme Court Justice.) In 1977, she graduated from The Florida State University with a Bachelor’s in Mass Communications. Unfortunately, the country was in a deep recession and it was difficult to find a job in the communications field. With student loans to pay, Barbara took a job with a brand new law firm in Tallahassee called Smith & Randolph (now Knowles & Randolph). As the firm consisted of the two (2) attorneys and Barbara, she wore many hats: Legal Secretary, Office Manager, Investigator. Barbara worked primarily with Roosevelt Randolph who was one of the top criminal defense attorneys in Tallahassee. Watching Roosevelt in trial was a thing of beauty and it was he who encouraged her to attend law school. While working for that law

firm before attending law school, Barbara was named by the Tallahassee Barristers as “Legal Secretary Of The Year” and has been told by Roosevelt that she was the best Legal Secretary he ever had; both of which she is still very, very proud to this date. Barbara graduated from The Florida State University College Of Law in December 1985 and became an Assistant State Attorney here in Tampa. Barbara’s current practice is concentrated in the following areas: Family Law, Personal Injury & Sports Law. She is certified by the State of Florida as an Athlete (Sports) Agent and formerly represented NFL players for several years. In addition to travelling, reading & listening to music, she is an avid sports fan who enjoys all types of sports. (She cannot wait until the 2022 Olympics so that she see the curling competitions.) Her favorite sports teams are The Florida State Seminoles, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Dolphins. Tampa’s

ATTORNEYS OF THE YEAR

Edward’s commitment to his family is the most important thing in his life. It provides the foundation and purpose that underpin his life and his law practice. The defining moment in Edward’s life was when he found out that he was going to be a dad while still a Junior in High School. He wanted to make sure he would be there for his daughter financially and emotionally. During that time, he was injured in an auto accident; an experience that changed the direction of his education and career. In the year 2000, Edward decided to take a leap of faith and open a healthcare facility that primarily cared for patients who had been injured in car accidents.

Works of Wonder Photography

Edward J. Reyes, ESQ. Had a Bad Day Injury Lawyer “Had a bad day?” This is the question Mr. Edward Reyes, Esq. poses to those who have been injured in accidents. If you or someone you know gets injured, just know, The Reyes Firm is here to make “a bad day” much better

He had the privilege of meeting and helping thousands of people to not only recover from their pain and injuries but move on with their lives. He truly enjoyed his time in the healthcare arena; however, at 31 he decided to go back to school. As a result of this new venture and the changing healthcare laws at the time, he sold his practice in 2013. After graduating from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, rather than taking the traditional path of working at another lawyer’s firm, he bet on himself and ‘hung a shingle.’ With the help of his family, mentors, and staff he’s never looked back. Edward’s early experience has provided him with invaluable insight, enabling him to guide his clients’ cases to the most optimal outcomes. Attorney Edward Reyes has certainly overcome adversity and he brings that to the table any time he is fighting for his clients’ rights.

Sherri M. Stinson Law Office of Sherri M. Stinson, P.A. Sherri Stinson is the owner of the Law Offices of Sherri M. Stinson, a boutique law firm focusing exclusively on estate planning, guardianship and probate. The firm’s core mission is helping clients feel valued and heard at each stage of their life. From there, the firm custom tailors estate plans to reflect each client’s core values and their wishes for a strong, ever-lasting legacy. Sherri helps individuals and families take the mystique out planning for life’s worst-case scenarios of incapacity and death. Her firm also helps protect vulnerable seniors from financial exploitation and neglect. Sherri first felt the desire to help others when she was in middle school and adopted a low-income senior for Christmas. Sherri says “I remember the joy I felt when I brought this elderly woman a meal and Christmas presents and she was so grateful. Nobody had ever done anything like that for her before and she cried because I had helped her so much.” That’s when I realized the power that one person has to make a difference. After graduating college, Sherri helped

an elderly woman who was being taken advantage of by her landlord. Sherri says “I was able to involve a consumer advocate who stopped the landlord from continuing to take advantage of her. She had a voice because I helped her. Helping others is the best feeling! I can’t solve every problem someone has, but if I can somehow make their life better, then I have fulfilled my purpose.” She is a Martindale-Hubbell AV-Preeminent rated attorney. This rating signifies that her peers rank her at the highest level of professional excellence for her legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards, and is achieved by only 10% of attorneys. She has served as a board member for 211 Tampa Bay Cares, the Rotary Club of Dunedin and the Clearwater Bar Association, as well as the prior chairwoman for the Clearwater Bar Probate Section. She is an active member in her church and lives in Palm Harbor with her husband, Troy and their 2 children.
