Pumpkin Spice lattes, leaves changing colors, temperatures dropping, turkeys everywhere… November was a wonderful month! Not only were thanksgiving plates filled with delicious holiday foods, the Tampa area also had a full plate of events going on throughout November! Here are a few of the fun events that took place last month, in case you missed it!
MUSIC TO MY EARS The Florida Orchestra premiered Songs of the Sea, including Britten’s Four Sea Interludes, Elgar’s Sea Pictures and Debussy’s La Mer. These were followed by The Work at Hand by Jake Heggie, a concerto for cello,

A SANDING OVATION
VEG OUT! Just the next day, Florida Voices for Animals presented the Tampa Bay Veg Fest, a free event that featured an array of vegan food to either sample or purchase. The festival also had an expanded children’s activity area, cooking demonstrations, live music, healthyliving and eco-friendly exhibits, information on local nonprofits, animal adoptions, films, speakers and more! SENSORY DEPRIVATION TANKS By Gina Ritch
noticed they had before while occupying this quiet space. Not only can it assist in challenges with the nervous system, it has also been shown to help ease anxiety, insomnia, and depression.
Meditation spas have been all the hype this year. In a time where meditation boutiques are almost more popular than regular day spas, Americans are taking more interest in pastimes that soothe not just the body, but also the mind. Learning how to calm the mind and master a quiet headspace is proven to have many benefits in dealing with the stresses of everyday life. Yoga has long been celebrated as a way to achieve a balance between mind and body, but for those that want to take their meditation exercises to the next level, sensory deprivation tanks may be the next step.
As you lie floating in the dark with the ears submerged, a forced meditative state comes on that allows you to really explore thoughts that are usually blocked by everyday distractions. While everyone has their own individual experiences, many encounter lucid, dreamlike hallucinations to out of body episodes. Studies show that the more you use these tanks, the better you become at cultivating the benefits of these thought-provoking pods.
The next time you need a little inspiration, reflection, or rejuvenation, a session at your local floating sensory deprivation spa may just be the perfect remedy. Whether you wish to quiet the mind and escape the stresses of the world for an hour, or you want to employ one of the many health benefits and lower your anxiety and high blood pressure, these tanks are worth trying to achieve that coveted space of balance between body and mind.
Praised for the mind-calming and sensory-stimulating benefits, these tanks can aid in many nervous system problems, such as high blood pressure and chronic tension pains. Without the commotion of dayto-day urgencies, many become aware of tension pains they never 28

MEMORABLE MOMENTS OF THE YEAR!
THE MANY UNFORGETTABLE NEWS STORIES TO COME OUT OF 2016 By Riesa Pascal
TAYLOR SWIFT & KANYE WEST FEUD
POKÉMON GO
In February, Kanye West released his song “Famous” which begins with the line, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, I made that b***h famous.” Taylor Swift blasted the song in her Grammys acceptance speech and West defended himself by explaining that he got Swift’s approval for the lyrics first. Taylor’s representatives denied the claim, which led to Kim Kardashian-West releasing several videos of the conversation on Snapchat as proof. Swift was immediately hit with a wave of criticism and called out as a liar by numerous news outlets.
On July 6th, Pokémon Go was released and became an instant global and cultural phenomenon. Guinness World Records confirmed that Pokémon Go set five incredible world records since its launch, including most revenue grossed by a mobile game in its first month, most downloaded mobile game in its first month and fastest time to gross $100 million by a mobile game. The free-to-play, location-based augmented reality game is now the biggest mobile game in U.S. history.
PULSE NIGHTCLUB TRAGEDY
LOCHTEGATE
On June 12th, Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub gained international attention as it was the scene of the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in U.S. history. 49 people were killed and 53 others were wounded in what has now become the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since the September 11th attacks in 2001. In November 2016, the city of Orlando agreed to buy the nightclub for $2.25 million. Mayor Buddy Dyer has expressed plans to convert the nightclub into a memorial to honor the memory of the 49 victims.
Unfortunately the biggest story to come out of the Rio Olympics had nothing to do with awards and medals. In August, USA swimmer Ryan Lochte claimed he and three other teammates were robbed at gunpoint in Rio by a man dressed like a cop. Eventually it was revealed that Lochte grossly embellished the story and the “robber” was actually a gas station security guard who made him pay for damaging a door and mirror. The instant backlash led to formal charges against the swimmers, a 10-month suspension from swimming and the lost of several major sponsors.

IPHONE 7 RELEASE
KIM KARDASHIAN-WEST ROBBERY
In September, Apple officially announced the release of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus with water resistance, dual cameras, and no headphone jack. The announcement of doing away with the traditional headphone jack led to heated discussions and many angry consumers as the media ridiculed Apple’s claim that it took “courage” to make the upgrade. The new phone comes with headphones that plug into the charging port with the help of an adapter. Wireless AirPods will also be made available for purchase.
On October 2nd, Kim Kardashian was bound, gagged and robbed at gunpoint in a luxury apartment in Paris. Five armed masked men dressed as police officers were involved and stole millions of dollars in jewelry, including her wedding ring. Police say the robbers escaped on bicycles after she begged them for her life. Though Kardashian-West was unharmed, the crime directly led to her recent absence from social media.
GALAXY NOTE 7 RECALL
CHICAGO CUBS WIN THE WORLD SERIES
Apple wasn’t the only phone company facing scrutiny this year. The iPhone 7 backlash was the perfect opportunity for Samsung to boost sales of their new Galaxy Note 7. However, a manufacturing defect in the battery caused some of them to generate excessive heat and explode or catch on fire. A formal US recall and exchange program was announced, but reports quickly began to emerge of replacement phones also catching on fire. In October, Samsung announced it would discontinue the Galaxy Note 7 and permanently cease its production.
On November 3rd, Chicago erupted in tears of joy as the Cubs won the World Series after a 108 year-long drought. The win came by one run after extra innings and a rain delay in a nail-biting five-hour Game Seven against the Cleveland Indians. Celebrities like Bill Murray and LeBron James were in the stands to watch as the Cubs were crowned champions in the tenth inning, beating the Indians 8-7. Both teams are record holders for the two longest droughts in MLB history.
BRANGELINA DIVORCE
2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
In September, the internet exploded with news of the most shocking celebrity breakup of the year. Brangelina fans around the world were caught off guard when Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt citing irreconcilable differences. She’s asking for physical custody of the couple’s 6 children and only wants Pitt to have visitation rights. This is the second divorce for Pitt who split with his first wife Jennifer Aniston after meeting Jolie on set of Mr & Mrs Smith, a choice that many say Pitt is now experiencing ‘karma’ for.
No matter what your opinion was on this year’s Presidential Election, there is one thing we can all agree on celebrating—the fact that it’s over! On November 8th, Donald Trump won the presidency with 306 electoral votes to the 232 received by Clinton. After it was guessed that he won with fewer popular votes than his opponent, according to some sources, Trump’s victory sparked numerous protests in major cities across America and was a major political upset due to his controversial policies and comments. Trump will be sworn in as the 45th U.S. President at noon on Jan. 20, 2017 at the U.S. Capitol.

HOSTING A PARTY WITH OUR BEST FRIENDS! By Alexandra Niblett
52 STYLETOME.COM
BEST FRIENDS
The holiday season is in full swing, and one of the most wonderful times of the year is officially upon us! It’s a season of giving, a season of reflecting on who and what we are most thankful for, a season of celebrating the beautiful memories of 2016 and a season of setting new goals for the upcoming year. There’s no better way to end 2016 and welcome 2017 than to be surrounded by our closest friends and family, and of course, our lovable pets! Whether it’s your year to host the holiday family reunion, or if you’re hosting the New Year’s Eve party with all of your closest friends and their families, remember to keep your pets’ health, safety and happiness in mind so that the holiday get-together goes down in the books as the best one yet!
If you’re a dog-owner, you know this better than anyone; dogs seem to have an endless appetite and somehow always have an abundance of energy beyond what several espresso shots could give anyone! We love our best friends with all of our hearts and want the best for them, and with this desire requires us to take precaution when having guests over while our pets are home so that they are relaxed, happy and content. The saying goes, “it’s the calm before the storm…” If you know your dog gets overly excited, jittery or aggressive around other people, consider these different ways you can help keep your pets calm during the party: •Work it Out. Exercising them regularly is always beneficial to their health, but if you’re hosting a holiday party and your lovable, energetic pooch is sticking around the house, it’s a wise idea to give your best friend a really good work out before the party starts so that they feel less nervous and energetic later on. Go for a jog, or take an extra long walk with them. They’ll want to rest from exhaustion while your guests are over. •Treat Yo’ self. (Well actually, your dog.) Buy them a bone that will take them a while to finish off! If they have good teeth, give them a tasty party treat to munch on during the holiday get-together. Large bones usually run around $10-$20 that will keep your pup occupied for at least an hour or two, and as long as they’re preoccupied with their tasty treat, you can go back to focusing on your guests!
•Set the vibe. Make sure to be aware of your energy at the party. Your dog’s energy usually reflects your energy and presence — if you act uptight, anxious, or hyper, your dog will pick up on those vibes and mirror them with its own behavior. It’s important for you to speak to your dog in a calm, comforting voice, particularly while around your guests so that your best friend feels as relaxed and at ease as you are. •You’re the DJ! Who’d have thought, but classical music calms more than babies — it’ll also calm your dog’s nerves as well and put them in a relaxing state. Try playing classical music around the house for a couple of hours before your guests start to arrive so that your pet is in a calm state of mind. •Stick to the Essentials. Essential oils can be helpful in keeping your pup calm and relaxed. Something you need to know before using them is that animal aromatherapy is different from human aromatherapy, so make sure you are using a pet-friendly oil. To avoid your dog feeling stress and anxiety while the party’s going on, here’s a list of some helpful essential oils you can use. (Do not apply directly inside their ears. You can apply them around the outside of the ears, around the neck, and on their paws.) -Bergamot -Lavender -Clary Sage -Ylang Ylang -Sweet Orange -Cedar wood -Vetiver -Roman Chamomile If you try one or more of those helpful tricks, your pooch should be all set for the party! One thing these tricks can’t do is curb your dog’s eating habits or disguise the delicious smells of holiday delights from their noses. And food is another important topic to consider before your shindig takes place. Depending on the age of your guests, it’s likely some families will bring their kids along. Kid or adult, when a puppy looks at you with those cute, sappy, please-feed-me eyes while you’re sitting at the dinner table, it’s almost too hard to refuse. But not all foods us humans consume are okay for dogs to consume. Many foods can threaten your dog’s health, so it’s a good idea for you to know what some of those are before hosting a party.
53 STYLETOME.COM
•Chocolate. The darker the chocolate, the worse it is for your pup. Which is super sad, because we just want our pets to enjoy all of the wonderful chocolatey bites! Unfortunately, the caffeine and theobromine in the chocolate can be deadly to animals. Looking on the bright side, while Hershey’s kisses may be bad for them, regular kisses never will be! •Avocado. It sounds locos. If you have the party-favorite guac & chips at your shindig, be careful not to let your best friend dig his or her nose into the guacamole because just about all parts of avocados are toxic to animals. •Xylitol. An ingredient consumed by many but unrecognizable to many more, this artificial sweetener is found in sugar-free foods. If a dog consumes it, his or her blood sugar levels will drastically drop, which could result in seizures depending on your pup’s body’s reaction. •Dairy Products. We’ve all seen the sweet pictures of kids and their best friends sharing ice cream on a cone as if it was a tootsie pop, and ice cream is a popular dessert at holiday parties. But surprisingly, most dogs are actually lactose intolerant, and therefore may end up having excessive gas or diarrhea if they consume too much. But Good news! You don’t have to worry about your pooch getting ahold of harmful foods at your holiday event because there’s an easy way to deter your guests from feeding your dogs table scraps. Have a tray of adorable, homemade holiday dog treats that both kids and adults can take from to treat your dogs! There are many animal-friendly recipes online that are fun to make, and plus, it provides your guests with a fun activity to do while at your party (it’s a winner with kids especially!). You can decorate them to match the theme of your holiday party, and your best friend will love you for it! Wherever you decide to spend the holidays this year, be sure to pay close attention to the health and happiness of your pets — they deserve it. Have a safe and wonderful holiday season!

MIZU SHINGEN MOCHI, THE WATER CAKE YOU NEED TO TRY! By Dubraska Lima
$129 / Available at Wineenthusiast.com
Coming from Japan (of course), this cake was originally made from a renowned water source in the Southern Japanese Alps in combination with agar, and is now the most futuristic way to eat desserts. It looks like a big bubble of water, and it’s served with sugar syrup and kinako, a roasted soy flour typically used to accompany other sweet treats. The original version was invented by Kinseiken Seika Company and is actually a trademark registered product. It has a really soft texture as a result of a delicate preparation that allows the water to solidify enough to keep the drop form for 30 minutes, so you can’t take it home. Even though it looks like it could be torn down at the slightest touch, the jelly consistency makes it perfect to be eaten with a spoon and rapidly melt in your mouth. Last year, you would have had to travel to Japan, climb a hill and make a long line to get to one of the two locations where the confection was sold. I’m not kidding, it was a complete adventure. But now, you can find it in two more cities in the U.S. thanks to New Yorker Darren Wong who decided to bring the pastry to New York and Los Angeles, giving us the chance to try a similar version of the diamond-like cake known as Mizu Shingen Mochi.
KUISSENTIAL FRENCH PRESS
Unlike other brew methods, the French Press gives you absolute control over the infusion time (longer infusion time produces a bolder, stronger, and eventually more bitter cup). Perhaps more importantly, the unique screen filter of the French Press allows essential coffee oils to make their way into your cup; oils that would normally be blocked out and eliminated by paper filters. These oils are responsible for producing a very full body, fantastically thicker and more flavorful than anything you’d experience from any other brew method, period. Better yet, the French Press is super inexpensive, simple to use, easy to clean, better for the environment (because no disposable filters are needed) and takes up virtually no space in your kitchen. Have we convinced you yet?
Even though the taste is pretty similar to regular water, in combination with the other two sides, it is much better and the reality is that its value is in the texture and the impressive appearance. And of course, because the main ingredient is water, this is the perfect tart if you’re on a diet because it is calorie-free. Thank goodness!

IN THE KNOW
By Mark NeJame | Contributor Vanessa Louise Braeley As the 26th state to legalize medical marijuana, Florida has officially tipped the scale; a majority of the United State is now in favor of marijuana use for certain medical ailments. The legalization of cannabis has been a nationwide topic for years – so much that it’s almost become a “non issue.” So much so that an overwhelming percentage of Floridians voted YES on Amendment 2 on November 8th (a whopping 71%!). But we’ve heard this before… years ago Florida legalized marijuana use for qualified medical patients so long as THC content was less than .8%. But what does this mean? What’s the difference between what existed and what is now legal? Instead of discussing a legal primer on passage and interpretation of legal of marijuana in Florida, let’s discuss probable evolution of the ability to cannabis and the actual plant itself.
the use the use
First, the basics. The cannabis plant is a flowering plant. It’s the female plant that produces large, resin-secreting buds. The resin contains chemical compounds THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). The higher the THC content, the “higher” the consumer; THC is the psychoactive compound responsible for euphoria, relaxation, paranoia and heightened senses experienced by users. The type of high depends on the plant species, which are either sativa (alert and euphoric), indica (relaxed and mellow) or, most commonly, a hybrid of both. Recreational users tend to prefer THC dominant strains, but health benefits are attributed to CBD consumption. Industry professionals are of the opinion that as recreational consumption increases, users will seek out products that provide a more balanced high.
So how does this help patients with debilitating medical conditions in Florida? Well, initially THC was ignored, and quite possible avoided considering its psychoactive properties. States that pass legislation similar to Amendment 2 focus on the beneficial effects of CBD, the non-psychoactive compound, particularly for those with chronic pain, anxiety, inflammatory diseases and terminal illnesses. International medical and scientific communities have provided indisputable evidence that the CBD properties in the cannabis plant are beneficial for multiple medical ailments such as cancer, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders and chronic pain management. As a result, during the first round of legalization, states have apprehensively authorized patients diagnosed with such disorders to access cannabis products with high CBD and low THC content (i.e. “Charlotte’s Web”). But as research continues, this notion is a bit outdated; findings indicate that cannabis products are most effective when a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC is present. Apparently, the compounds work well together. Go figure. Mother nature had it right the whole time. What this tells us, folks, is that we are slowly evolving toward legalization of recreational use. Relaxed constitutional amendments on the subject have been proposed and the people have spoken. Florida Department of Health is now slated to draft regulations allowing for patients with “debilitating diseases” to access marijuana with a higher THC and CBD content. Amendment 2 cast a wider net with respect to the patients it will reach, including those with glaucoma, some autoimmune disorders, Parkinson’s, MS and other inflammatory diseases. And this appears to be the trend in every state... Legislation is passed limiting patient access and regulating THC content; regulations
59 STYLETOME.COM
on THC content and patient ailments are relaxed; state health agencies draft new relaxed regulations; state licenses are issued to providers based on those regulations; patients benefit health-wise; the state benefits tax-wise; and eventually recreational use (or “adult use”) is contemplated and – possibly - legalized. Any why not. Stay tuned for updates on Florida’s Department of Health medical marijuana regulatory framework…

MOST SECURE TRANSACTION FORMS TO PURCHASE DURING THE HOLIDAYS
By Dubraska Lima
In this hyperconnected digital age we now have multiple ways to make purchases, and sometimes it’s hard to figure out which way is the most secure to avoid fraud traps. This has become a cause of stress for most consumers, as we balance digital convenience and our personal information. The reality is that neither of the current options, credit, debit or digital are perfect. However, we can definitely take steps to protect ourselves, especially during the holidays, a time when we all tend to make our biggest purchases. In an interview with The New York Times, Carole Reynolds, a senior lawyer at the Federal Trade Commission, said: “The strongest protections are when you pay with credit card.” The main reason for this is that with a credit card you’re not risking your own money as with a debit card. Besides that, if you report a credit card fraud, banks will typically hold the transaction immediately. But if you don’t want to charge every purchase to a credit card but want the same security, especially if you decided to try an online merchandiser, you can ask for one-
time credit card number from your bank to get even more protection. On the other hand, with a debit card, the money is drawn automatically. It’s true that there are federal laws that safeguard your account, but these are limited and the level of protection diminish even more as time passes. The best you can do if you choose to use debit cards is to keep an eye on your bank statement and report any suspicious transaction as soon as you can. You have up to 60 days after your bank sends the statement, to report any issue and be able to solve any problem, but if you miss that deadline, you could lose your money. If you’re more comfortable with online shopping, the best option is to go with services like PayPal or Apple Pay. Even though it sounds like you’re putting more personal information out there, it’s much safer to have your account linked to one secure third party instead of giving your card number to all the stores you’re buying from.
60 STYLETOME.COM
There are always pros and cons on these technological options like Apple Pay, especially if using the Apple Watch. When you add a card to your account, this information is encrypted and a unique device account number is assigned, which allows you to make the purchase without giving any information to the register. But the downside is that not every store is equipped with contactless point-of-sale terminals yet, so these can’t be your only option when going out for shopping. Remember that no matter what method you use, you need to be aware of simple details, for example, before making an online purchase make sure that the browser URL is an HTTPS instead of HTTP, the S at the end demonstrates the secure software added by the provider. If you don’t recognize a transaction on your statement, call your bank immediately; time is the most valuable resource you have in these cases. Still concerned? Cash has always been a great option, so don’t be afraid to use it!

SPOTLIGHT ON THE LAW Special Promotional Feature
FAIR TRIALS IN FEDERAL CRIMINAL CASES By Mark L. Horwitz Criminal Defense Attorney Many have heard the term “trial by ambush.” It refers to surprises that occur in a trial and is generally considered an unfair tactic that interferes with the search for truth. Not commonly known, however, is that in a federal criminal case, when personal liberty is at stake, the defendant faces “trial by ambush” that is built into the Rules of Criminal Procedure.
Mark L. Horwitz Law Offices of Mark L. Horwitz, P.A. 17 East Pine St.Orlando, FL 32801 P: 407-843-7733 • F: 407-849-1321 mark@mlhorwitzlaw.com www.mlhorwitzlaw.com
Most people believe that in a lawsuit, both sides disclose their witnesses and that prior to trial, the witnesses will be deposed to learn what will be related to the jury. This happens in civil and criminal cases in Florida state courts and in a federal civil case. In a federal criminal case, however, when a defendant faces imprisonment, the rules are different. Federal Rules do not require the
government to identify its witnesses (except expert witnesses), nor do the rules allow depositions (there are very limited exceptions, such as a terminally ill witness). The fundamental fairness of our federal courts is subject to criticism when a person facing imprisonment in a criminal case does not have the rights given to those fighting over money in a civil case. The purpose of our criminal justice system and the constitutional right to trial by jury is to preserve the liberty of individuals who may be wrongfully accused through a fair trial. It is important that a person who is fighting for his liberty against the federal government be given the same procedural safeguards as given to those in civil cases.

The economic crash of 2008 sent commercial real estate prices into a free fall. According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Real Estate, property values plummeted by 10.6% in the fourth quarter of 2008. As we all know, it only got worse from there. This created a spectacular buying opportunity for savvy investors. They didn’t have to reach for low hanging fruit. All
emotional buying decisions. Investors are primarily focused on getting the highest return on their investment while minimizing their risks. Usually the deals with the highest risk offer the highest rewards. A perfect example of this is a shopping center we sold to a client in January for $1,525,000. The property consisted of 149,000 square feet, sitting on 15 acres of land at a very busy intersection. Now this center was only 50% occupied and it needed some renovations, but it was still bringing in a net operating income of $166,000 a year. The main tenants of this center were Cash America Pawn and Mcdonalds. One doesn’t need to be Donald

Can you say “Show me the money?” This was such an incredible deal because it required a little work and some strategic planning. There are plenty of

DEATHS
BIRTHS
Though we said a sad goodbye to many famous faces this year, 2016 was also a year filled with new, adorable additions to several famous families. These kids didn’t ask to be born into fame, but they will most likely experience a life in the limelight because of it. Say hello to some of 2016’s celebrity babies!
On New Year’s Eve, Natalie Cole died at age 65 from heart failure caused by lung disease. The R&B singer was the daughter of music icon Nat “King” Cole and her death announcement on January 1st kicked off a year filled with far too many famous faces gone too soon. Here are just a few of the highlights.
ADAM LEVINE & BEHATI PRINSLOO
DAVID BOWIE The first major death of the year was also one of the most shocking deaths as the world reeled in disbelief at the announcement of David Bowie’s passing on January 10th. The rock superstar was just 69 years old. Amazingly, Bowie passed away just three days after releasing his 25th studio album, Blackstar. He kept his 18-month battle with cancer so private that even his closest friends were unaware, until the rest of the world was also saying goodbye.
On September 21st, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo gave birth to Adam Levine’s first child, a daughter named Dusty Rose Levine. The Maroon 5 frontman revealed on The Ellen Show that Ellen DeGeneres actually helped the couple pick out the name. “I think I had a great name and I texted Ellen and I was like, ‘What do you think?’ And she’s like, ‘I hate it.’ Ellen texted him back with five names she liked and one was Dusty, a name which he and his wife fell in love with.
ALAN RICKMAN
KERRY WASHINGTON & NNAMDI ASOMUGHA
After a short battle with pancreatic cancer, British actor Alan Rickman passed away on January 14th at the age of 69. He concealed the fact that he was terminally ill from all but his closest confidants, which led to waves of shock at the announcement. The star was well known and loved for his roles in various films, most notably his role as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movie franchise. One of his final film roles was voicing Absolem the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland and its sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass.
KEVIN & DANIELLE JONAS
American actress Kerry Washington welcomed her second child into the world on October 5th. The Scandal star and her husband, Philadelphia Eagles player Nnamdi Asomugha, are already proud parents to a two year old daughter named Isabelle. Now they also have a baby boy named Caleb Kelechi. Although Washington has decided to keep her children out of the public eye by not showing the world their pictures, we have no doubt their gorgeous parents have passed along those good genes. Kevin and Danielle Jonas welcomed their second daughter Valentina Angelina on October 27th. The former Jonas Brothers member shared his excitement saying, “We are so excited to welcome our new baby girl, Valentina Angelina Jonas to the world today. She is healthy and beautiful and we couldn’t be happier!” The new addition will share her famous daddy and uncles with her two year old sister Alena Rose. Excited uncle Nick Jonas posted on Instagram: ‘Congrats Kevin and Dani! We have another Jonas!! Can’t wait to meet that beautiful baby girl very soon.’
PRINCE Prince’s passing away at the age of 57 shocked the world and led to hundreds of worldwide tributes to the pop music legend. The flamboyant musical genius behind “Purple Rain” was reported to be suffering from flu days before his passing on April 21st. A press release from the the medical examiner has stated that Prince died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl. Following the autopsy, Prince’s cremated remains were placed into a custom, 3D printed urn shaped like his Paisley Park estate.
ROB KARDASHIAN & BLAC CHYNA
On November 10th, Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Dream Renée Kardashian. Kardashian celebrated the arrival of his daughter by posting a picture of the precious baby girl alongside this caption: ‘Today was amazing I am so luck!! Thank you @blacchyna for having our baby and being so strong! I love you so much and can’t wait to see her get older day by day with you Chy! I love you and Dream so much and appreciate both of you.’
MUHAMMAD ALI Floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee led him to become a three-time world heavyweight champion and one of the world’s most famous boxers. Unfortunately, Ali’s years in the ring also led to boxing-related brain injuries and a 35-year-long battle with Parkinson’s disease. On June 3rd, Muhammad Ali died at the age of 74 after being taken to the hospital with respiratory issues. Today he is widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century.
ASHTON KUTCHER & MILA KUNIS
This holiday season will be a busy one for Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis as they welcome the birth of their second child! The couple are already parents to a two year old daughter named Wyatt Isabelle. During an October appearance on the Today show, Kutcher accidentally let slip that he and Kunis were now expecting a boy. While talking with Savannah Guthrie, Kutcher spoke of Wyatt saying, “She points to Mila and she’s like ‘baby brother’ when she points to the belly and then she points to Dad and she goes ‘beer.’ So I think she gets there’s something in the belly, but I don’t quite think she knows that it’s not going to be a plastic doll yet.”
GENE WILDER On August 29th, American actor Gene Wilder died at 83-years-old from complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Wilder experienced a long, successful movie career, but he is easily best known for his role as the whimsical Willy Wonka in the 1971 hit musical Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. The film was an adaption of the classic children’s book by Roald Dahl and it continues to touch generation after generation. 92
