PUBLISHER’S NOTE
> It seems like most of the country can’t catch a break with the weather these days especially with the northeast getting pummeled with record snowfalls and flooding rains. It’s almost unimaginable that within the past few months we have experienced ‘Sandy’ almost demolishing eastern seaboard communities thrusting thousands of our fellow citizens into ‘tent-city’ living environments. Next, there is ‘Nemo’ dumping over two feet of snow accompanied with high winds, crippling huge swaths of New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, etc. with blizzard conditions putting thousands more without power for who-knows-howlong. Despite experiencing mostly insignificant daily problems, those of us just a short distance south of these areas quickly transition into sun and warmth. Although seemingly oblivious to the hardships encountered by our northern neighbors, we truly feel their pain as many of us have friends, relatives and acquaintances struggling through some much tougher times. So, we are thankful that we awaken most mornings looking forward to a new day, browsing thru the latest ‘Style’ magazine content and welcoming spring with open arms. Being able to enjoy the best weather period of the year is something we get to cherish and love every minute of…. perhaps a bit unfair in comparative terms but welcomed nonetheless. Closer to home, our area continues to experience growth. Shops are doing incredibly great in selling their products and services, the real estate market has returned with strength and touts the lowest inventory in a very long time. The stock market continues to confound by setting new highs since 2007 and threatens to go even higher, fueled by generally higher business income reporting and a more relaxed atmosphere in which people are becoming less afraid to spend again. Our position continues to be supportive of facing a brighter future as we shun the bad news reporting coming from the multitude of so-called ‘experts’.... an entitlement which is reserved for only a few. In this issue, be sure to see the latest beach and pool wear photo shoot to catch the latest in fashion under the sun. Then check out our report on the UP market in “Hot Real Estate Trends for 2013!” Don’t forget to read ‘Tampa Thai,’ where every Sunday, for a nominal fee, the local Buddhist monastery hosts a Thai food & cultural festival for food lovers of all ages. These articles and the additional great editorials will make you feel good to be here...enjoy! CELEBRITY SOUP
The Pretty & The By Alyssa Thomann
Jennifer Aniston
> It’s that time of the year again. We must say bye-bye to our winter coats and say hello to bathing suits and short shorts. As soon as spring rolls around there’s no more hiding behind our winter wardrobe. Lets face it; we all slack on our diets and workouts during the winter because EVERYONE looks better in winter clothing. Well, most of us anyway. There are the lucky few who look perfect in a bathing suit no matter what the season, how old, or how many children they’ve had. More specifically, I am speaking of some of our beloved Hollywood celebs that look good 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. However, for all the hot celeb bods out there, there are just as many not so hot ones. Let’s take a look at who has kept up with their fantastic physique year-round and whom we would actually prefer to keep their clothes on while laying poolside.
STYLETOME.COM
Jada Pinkett Smith
We’ll begin on a positive note- with the celebs we definitely want to see strip down this spring. Jennifer Aniston is the definition of a classic beauty with a body that every woman desires to obtain. Aside from an obviously good gene pool, Jennifer keeps up her perfect physique with much hard work. Thanks to her long time wellness trainer and yoga instructor, Mandy Ingber, Jennifer is a 43-yearold woman who could pass as a twenty-five year-old any day. Her trick is to indulge in a combination of yoga, spinning and toning exercises. Not to forget the importance she emphasizes on developing a strong connection between her mind and body. She strives to have balance in all aspects in her life and keep a healthy outlook when it comes to her busy career and personal life.
Audrina Patridge
Jada Pinkett Smith is one, drop dead gorgeous mama of three. It is truly amazing that between her career and family she can find the time to keep herself looking perfect. It seems we have her mom to thank for that. Ever since Jada was a child she has been physically active. Her mom always had her enrolled in some type of activity like gymnastics, dance or horseback riding. Jada has inherited that parenting tool from her mother and has past it on to her own kids, meaning sitting at home on weekends is never an option for the Pinkett-Smith household. Aside from working-out together, the family loves to go surfing or snowboarding as a means to exercise and have fun. Audrina Patridge knows that living in Southern California means it is always bikini season and lucky for her, her body is always bikini ready. This 27-year-old actress and

Coco Marie
The Hills alumni is a total knockout with the legs and abs to prove it. Aside from daily workouts and a strict diet plan, Audrina finds time throughout the day to squeeze in some extra workouts. When she is sitting in front of the TV she likes to lift 5-10 pound weights to define her arms or do squats to work out her legs. What is most bizarre is her secret to working out her calves and butt at home; she wears heels while vacuuming! Now let’s check out some celebrities who should take some workout advice from the previously mentioned. Coco Marie, wife of Ice-T, is one outrageous woman with a big heart (and a few other “big” things). Voluptuous is beautiful. Women are supposed to have curves and

love them, but there is such a thing as “too much.” We get it, Coco, you want to flaunt your body, but please, try to keep it PG. When your bikini fits like a piece of floss, it means you have outgrown it and it is time to find a new one.
month, it is her bathing suit body that is up for discussion. Her crazy, cool, “I don’t care” image is starting to affect her physique. Her boxy figure and lack of curves could be modified by some squats or crunches. Plus, who was with her when she decided that was an appropriate bathing suit for her body type?! Be sure to check with a friend next time before trying it out in public.<
Quentin Tarantino, the genius behind Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, could definitely use a bit of a workout regimen this spring. It looks like he has enjoyed one too many fruitcakes over the holidays. That’s okay, Quentin, you can stay behind the cameras where you work best, just as long as you keep casting those hunky actors as your lead roles. (Cough, Cough, Brad Pitt!) Ke$ha’s grunge look and party-girl persona keep her topping the headlines. This

Dressing Green Saves Green By Ro Martinez Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> Being green is the modern term for recycling, reducing, and reusing. This movement is affecting people in big ways and the way we live can lower the negative impact on our environment. It is a win-win situation that leaves us breathing easier and feeling renewed. Our purchases, including home construction and the way we dispose of trash can be our way of helping the environment.
Homes A green home uses energy-efficient green materials for the windows, insulation, walls, and flooring. To make your existing home more energy efficient, consider these options: Purchase green appliances, older appliances don’t run as efficiently as newer ones. Adjust your thermostat during temperature extremes. Use ceiling fans and clean your air filter regularly. Use less paper and buy items that use little packing materials and are 100% post-consumer recycled. Install solar panels to reduce your home energy bills by up to 95%. Fiji Islands of the South Pacific Laucala Island Report: Private Island Luxury Enhancing What Nature Created By Cathleen K. Bode Images courtesy of: Klaus Lorke Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> A pearl is created by three unique elements coming together to produce a beautiful jewel: nature, time and an expert human hand. The private Laucala Island Resort is that luxurious pearl, set amid a lush tropical coconut plantation. The man-made structures create a seamless transition to feel at one with nature. Each luxurious villa is designed to take full advantage of the best elements of the island. From a breathtaking 360 degree view from the Hilltop Villa to the naturally carved rock pool in the Overwater Villa, painstaking efforts were considered to not only take full advantage of what nature has provided, but to enhance it. Based on traditional Fijian building techniques, the resort utilizes local donga, mahogany, Fijian vesi timber, thatch and stone to create sculptural forms that enhance the space that they create. The result is a flawless transition between the untouched beauty of the island, and the luxurious private villas, lounges and restaurants. Using nature as a guide, many aspects of the villas have taken full advantage of natural rock formations to create the most unusual settings. Dining areas have been transformed from magical locations formed by nature to innovative spaces of true wonderment. All villas have private pools surrounded with generous landscaping. Wooden decks, rocks

and daybeds create a tropical outdoor living paradise with the pool as a focal point. Gardens and villas are illuminated at night by the traditional ceremonial lighting of the Tiki torches. Utilizing the latest in technology, there are flat panel TV’s, surround sound and entertainment iPod stations. A complete bar setup with daily canapés throughout the day, including a health bar featuring island fruit juices and freshly pressed coconut milk are a standard amenity and inclusive throughout all villas. Indoor and outdoor bathrooms are generously sized with multiple tubs and showers. Each villa provides an open-air massage pavilion and a complete outdoor dining service area. Spacious dressing rooms and varied lighting options throughout the villas allow guests to create the perfect environment for every mood. • Plantation Villas are located within the old plantation with private beaches. • Sea Grass villas are located in the tropical jungle with the sea grass bay. • Plateau Villas are situated on the Nawi hill overlooking the ocean. Peninsula Residence offers total privacy and is nestled into the headland with an uninterrupted ocean view. Babylonian style hanging walkways lead you to your relaxation and
dining rooms. Arrive by sea or land; this residence is equipped with its own boat landing. A secluded private beach with a single palm is set in the peninsula cove. The pool has been naturally carved over time into volcanic rock. Overwater Residence captures the sounds of the soothing ocean, built out over the sea where you can watch the tides come and go. Swim out from your private deck or stay back and admire the colorful coral surrounding you. You can literally feel the rhythm of the South Pacific beneath while floating on a daybed. Hilltop Residence is a resort within itself with a main residence and two guest villas. All are secluded at the highest point of Laucala lending itself to a sweeping 360-degree view over the turquoise waters and showcasing uninterrupted sunrise and sunset vistas. The natural beauty of the island’s pristine beaches, lush coconut groves, jungle peaks and rocky coves, exotic flora and fauna, make Laucala Island an extraordinary resort. The vision to develop the creative use of landscape, incorporating style, luxury and privacy, bring Laucala to an environmentally seductive peak: the perfect example of imagination and nature working together.

Made with all-natural materials indigenous to the island, Laucala’s 22 private villas and spa are open to the air and sea and feature only the most luxurious amenities, safely securing the resort’s position as one of the top luxury vacation destinations in the world. Its magnificent spa rests on one of the high points on the island, overlooking the breathtaking turquoise waters of the South Pacific Ocean. Far more than a single treatment room, each of the six private spa villas house a large outdoor terrace complete with a deep soaking tub overlooking the ocean and a secluded shower and dress-
ing room. Two of the villas are specifically dedicated to the latest hydrotherapy treatments, and all are open to the tropical sea breeze. For golf enthusiasts, Laucala is home to an 18 hole championship golf course designed by David McLay Kidd of DMK Designs LTD. Breathtaking panoramic views of the opulent Pacific Ocean are enjoyed from the 5th and 11th holes, from a course that plays in and out of the lush mountainous landscape.

> Sure, February is the shortest month. Almost every one is focused on Valentine’s Day – so there is virtually no time for hosting or attending events, right? If you answered yes then think again, and consult the incredible back-to-back events offered by this great city. The Tampa Theatre was the place to be this month with music concerts to suite anyone’s taste. The theatre attracted a soulful and inspiring musical act who sang his way onto the stage on February 5th for a free – yes, free – live concert. Christian music artist Brandon Heath was there to help celebrate the Tampa Bay Young Life 40th anniversary. The Grammy nominated musician has won multiple awards for his hits like “I’m Not Who I was,” “ Your love,” and “Give Me Your Eyes.” All eyes were definitely on Brandon as he shared how his life was changed at a Young Life camp when he was a teenager. The packed house was also treated to other local Young Life camp participants who shared their humorous and aspiring stories with everyone. Young Life is an organization that was founded in 1941 and has helped adolescents and adults all around the world. The music doesn’t stop there. Who doesn’t enjoy the classics from time to time? ery time and jumping into a time capsule of memories; well February was certainly ‘listening to the music’ as the widely popular classic rock band the Doobie Brother’s came to Tampa for a show stopping performance at Busch Gardens theme park. This Sunday-funday concert event attracted many fans including myself, which the band has accumulated over their four decade run in the music industry. Four decades of success and they don’t show any signs of slowing down. People of all ages were entertained in the late afternoon with famous hits and some new tunes off the band’s new record “World Gone Crazy.” Taking a break from high-speed thrilling roller coasters never sounded so sweet.
day started with my special someone by just sitting back and listening to this amazing and historic instrument.
From legendary rock bands to the day of love, the stunning Mighty Wurlitzer Organ that is located inside the Tampa Theatre was full of life and big sound on Valentine’s Day. Theatre Organ Society member Bill Vlasak who put on a romantic show that made us feel love was really in the air enchanted concertgoers. Bill is mostly known for his 11-year run at the Roaring ‘20sin Ellenton, FL. The Ohio native has also recorded several albums, and I discovered he was even named “Organist of the Year” by the American Theatre Organ Society. That explains the magnificent concert he put on for the house. It was a fantastic way to getting the
The Bay area was only getting started this month with rock bands and love concerts. The glitz and glamour of Hollywood arrived when the OSCAR experience held its 85th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday February 24th also at the Tampa Theatre. This fun filled evening was only one of 47 such events held nationwide. Kicking off the event with a red carpet VIP welcome, we got the all star celebrity treatment throughout the entire evening. <
Keeping in true romantic style, another Valentine’s Day event was held on the special day of all things love catering to other music fans that prefer something a little more intimate. Cuban American singing sensation Jon Secada serenaded the crowds and stole our hearts at the Powel Crosley Mansion Thursday evening with a beautiful concert where he played his many hits that span over the two decades of his career. The three-time Grammy award winner pulled out all the stops to give everyone there an unforgettable evening.

Insurance Companies: 1 Public: 0
By Mark NeJame Benjamin W. Loving, Associate Attorney with NeJame Law, contributed to this article Read more at: StyleToMe.com
“One of the biggest changes to the law has to do with the timing of seeking medical attention; you must seek your initial medical treatment within 14 days of the accident under the new law. “ STYLETOME.COM
> As of January 1, 2013 changes by the Florida legislature may have a great impact on the way your car accident claim is handled. If you are injured in an auto accident, you now have a mere two weeks to seek medical treatment or risk the potential loss of the coverage you have been paying for. In Florida, drivers are required to have Personal Injury Protection insurance (PIP) and liability protection to cover property damage. The PIP coverage will cover up to $10,000 of medical treatment if you are injured in an auto accident. The Florida Legislature, with enough prodding by auto insurance companies, has added new hurdles for Florida Drivers to jump over in order to receive PIP benefits. One of the biggest changes to the law has to do with the timing of seeking medical attention; you must seek your initial medical treatment within 14 days of the accident under the new law. The problem is many people involved car accidents postpone care initially and only seek medical help down the road when aches and pains persist or arise. It is not at all uncommon for someone “self treat” with over-the-counter medications for two or three weeks before seeking appropriate medical attention. Timing is not only hurdle the injured are faced with under the new law; a specific type of medical provider must now perform the initial treatment in order to potentially receive full PIP benefits. Medical providers that fit the bill include Medical Doctors, Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, Dentists, Physician’s Assistants or Registered Nurse Practitioners. Once you have cleared both hurdles of timing and selecting the appropriate medical provider, you are faced with the “Emergency Medical Condition” question. Your medical provider must declare that you have an “Emergency Medical Condition” in order to receive your full PIP benefits. An Emergency Medical Condition is defined as a medical condition that would reasonably be expected to result in serious jeopardy to patient health, serious impairment to a body
function, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. If your medical provider does not feel that you have an Emergency Medical Condition, as defined by the new law, you will lose $7,500 of your PIP coverage. What does that mean to you? Unfortunately, you will only have $2,500 of PIP benefits available for medical treatment related to the accident. You may think $2,500 will more than cover your medical bills if you do not have a serious condition, but more than half of your PIP benefits can easily be exhausted in one trip to the emergency room after an accident. In order to navigate your way through the new law, you may want to consult with a personal injury attorney. You may wonder how the Florida Legislature has managed to take away the benefits that you pay for.The new law was promoted as a way for Florida drivers to save money on auto insurance. The law calls for a 25% reduction in billing for PIP benefits in 2014; however, the insurance companies have a right to petition for exclusion from the reduction. The recent changes to Florida PIP law also required a 10% reduction in October 2012, but of the 148 insurance company PIP-rate filings that have been approved by the State’s Office of Insurance Regulation, only 25% of these filings show the required reduction. When it comes to winners and losers, the auto insurance companies win big and Florida drivers lose again. If you are injured in an auto accident, not only you should seek immediate medical attention, but you must seek this service from the appropriate type of medical provider. Your PIP benefits are crucial in your ability to receive and potentially afford proper medical attention. These benefits may be the only thing standing between you and a serious permanent injury. In order to assure that you are taking the appropriate steps to follow the new law, you may want to consult with a qualified personal injury attorney who takes the time and has the experience to educate you on the changes to Florida PIP law and how it may affect your potential accident claim. Be careful and drive safely!<

Design: the beauty of majestic power delivery. Hallmark M design features influenced directly by technical considerations – such as cooling air requirements, chassis geometry, weight balance and aerodynamics – open a clear window into the performance capability of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. The front of the car is dominated by its large air intakes, standard Adaptive LED Headlights and an M kidney grille designed especially for this model. From the side, the first fourdoor Coupe in the BMW M GmbH ranks is clearly distinguishable from the BMW M6 Coupe thanks to its rear doors and 113-millimetre longer wheelbase. The low roofline flowing smoothly into the rear, the swage ltine – which takes in the door openers – and side windows extending well into the C-pillars accentuate the dynamically stretched silhouette. Prominently flared wheel arches draw the eye to a track width specific to the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. The characteristic M gills, aerodynamically optimised exterior mirrors, standard BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line package and exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design underline the car’s distinctive appearance, as does another M signature – twin exhaust tailpipes positioned on the outer edges of the rear apron. Also integrated into the rear apron, and charged with the task of optimising airflow along the car’s underbody, is a diffuser made from CFRP. This extremely lightweight, impressively strong high-tech material is used in the construction of the roof as well. Here, the visible carbon structure provides an eye-catching feature, as does a dynamic recess in the centre of the roof. This recess is referenced stylistically inside the car, the anthracite-coloured Alcantara roof liner gaining a central section in leather.
V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, seven-speed Emulating the harmonious blend of athletic prowess and elegance embodied by the exterior design, the distinctively M cockpit fuses sports car style with generous levels
of space and a luxurious ambience. The driver and front passenger can look forward to M sports seats with integral belt guides. And the BMW M6 Gran Coupe’s standard specification also includes Merino leather upholstery with extended features. The rear compartment offers two or three seats, the backrests of which can split and fold down in a ratio of 40 : 60 to increase boot capacity from 460 to as much as 1,265 litres.
M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic, Active M Differential The powertrain technology under the skin of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe guarantees the performance characteristics for which M Automobiles are renowned. The V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology produces 412 kW/560 hp. Its technical wizardry includes a pair of twin-scroll turbochargers, a cross-bank exhaust manifold, High Precision Direct Petrol Injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-Vanos continuously variable camshaft control. The 4,395 cc unit keeps peak torque of 680 Newton metres (502 lb-ft) on tap between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm, while maximum output is developed between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm. The engine revs to a maximum of 7,200 rpm.The BMW M6 Gran Coupe sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds on the way to an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h/155 mph (305 km/h/189 mph if the optional M Driver’s Package is specified). Average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle stands at 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres (28.5 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions are 232 grams per kilometre. Taking care of power transfer is a sevenspeed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic. The transmission’s electronic management system ensures the right gear is selected for optimum traction. It also offers the driver a Launch Control function for maximum acceleration, Low Speed Assistance for extra comfort and the Auto Start-Stop function to enhance efficiency. Under particularly dynamic acceleration out of corners, as well as in tricky road and weather conditions, the Active M Differential at the rear axle distributes the engine’s power between the individual wheels to maximum traction-enhancing effect. Exclusive and individual: high-quality range of equipment. The standard equipment fitted on the BMW M6 Gran Coupe includes 20-inch M lightalloy wheels, leather trim, heated driver and front passenger seats, automatically dimming rear-view and exterior mirrors, an alarm system and the BMW Professional radio with hi-fi loudspeakers. Available as an alternative to the standard 2-zone automatic climate control is a 4-zone system with a control panel in the rear compartment. BEST FRIENDS
Summer Ready Bodies By Jake White Executive Vice President & General Manager SPCA of Central Florida Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> As we prepare our bodies for the beach, don’t forget the sunscreen, visor, cool drinks and (this is Florida) mosquito repellent… and not just for you, but your pets as well. The unofficial state bird of Florida is the mosquito. I once saw a swarm of mosquitoes carry away a teacup poodle. OK, maybe not carry away, but they sure did try. Mosquitoes pose threats to humans and animals. For your dogs and cats, the risk is heartworm disease. This deadly condition is easily preventable with a variety of prescriptions available from your Veterinarian. If the swarms become too thick, you may also contact Orange County Arthropod Control at 407-352-4370, and they will spray your neighborhood. Next are fleas. Besides skin allergies, fleas are responsible for a wide range of worms, digestive disorders and diseases. Flea outbreaks are difficult to completely destroy and might cost you a pretty penny. Again, prevent outbreaks by treating your pet with prescription from your Veterinarian. You and your house might also become infected even if you don’t have a pet – they like to hide in socks as you walk through grass.

With Orlando situated in the middle of a gigantic swamp, you should be aware of the creepys and crawlys that prowl in tropical quagmires. Alligators, snakes, boars, spiders, scorpions and rodents have ways of getting into yards, pools, and sidewalks. Keep your eyes open and your pet away from these potentially deadly adversaries. Beware of the hot spots. Cars can reach temperatures of excess of 140 degrees in only three minutes in summer. Plus, it is a violation of County Code if you leave your pet in an unattended vehicle. Walking your dog on the hot black asphalt could cause damage to the pads on your dog’s paws. If walking or hiking, make sure that you have plenty of water for you and your pet. Beware of the wet spots. The Atlantic, the Gulf, your pool – all pose a hazard if your pet does not know how to swim. Most dogs instinctively swim, but it is best to test their skills in a safe, controlled atmosphere. Some breeds, like beagles, are not strong swimmers. Watch your pet if you go in the ocean; rip currents and nurse sharks love lil’ doggies. Also beware of bogs and ditches; these are breeding grounds of molds, fungi, and microbes.
If you take a summer vacation, remember that your pet is a member of your pack and would love to go with you. AAA has a listing of hotels that accept pets. Practice taking your pet on car rides to prepare them for a long trip. It is better to learn if your pet gets carsick when you are only in the car for 10 minutes… instead of 10 days. If you decide to leave your pet, you have several options. Kennels are great, but test the kennel/pet relationship by allowing your pet to stay just one night a few weeks prior to your trip, so they may adjust. Another option is leaving your pet at home with a pet sitter. Friends, relatives, and pet sitting professionals may care for your pet within the familiarity of their own home.<

DON’T MISS THE BEAT
> If there’s one thing I know about Josh Groban, it’s that his singing is the closest sound to angelic that I’ll ever hear while here on earth. As a long-time fan and twotime concert attendee of the acclaimed vocalist, I was beyond ecstatic when I learned he was releasing his 6th studio album in February 2013. With more than 21 million albums sold in his career, Groban is one of the top selling male pop vocalists of the past two decades and rightfully so. If Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, then Josh Groban is easily the reigning King of ‘Popera.’ With each new record Groban seems to further master his art of combining the timeless beauty of classical music with the catching rhythms of modern pop.

Groban’s last record, “Illuminations,” was released in 2010 and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. During Groban’s “Illuminations” tour, I had the opportunity to see him in concert and witness the power of his vocals live and in all their glory. In this day of overly-digitized and produced music, it’s so rare to hear an artist who sounds exactly the same live as they do on their albums and Josh Groban is that artist in the living flesh. When his raw and genuine vocal talent is married to the beautifully written lyrics he’s known for, it will leave you with chills. On February 5th, Groban released “All That Echoes,” his highly anticipated sixth studio album. The producer behind “All That Echoes” is none other than Warner Bros. Records chairman and veteran producer Rob Cavallo. Cavallo is best known for his work with numerous big-named rock bands such as Green Day, Paramore, and the Goo Goo Dolls. He is clearly one who knows
the key to producing successful rock music and Groban’s collaborating with him has brought this album to a level entirely different to anything we’ve seen Groban do before. “All That Echoes” was named one of Billboard’s Best Bets for 2013 and features an edgier sound that is pushing Groban’s music to new genres and reaching the pleased ears of both seasoned Grobanites* and brand new Groban fans. Another exciting thing to note about “All That Echoes” is that it features more original songs and co-written credits to Groban. Groban says it was the frustration of hearing cheesily written songs, which drove him to do so, but his fans are certainly not complaining. More original songwriting by Groban only adds to the personal intimacy that listeners of “All That Echoes” get to experience with him. With all the above being said, don’t ask me if I wasn’t first in line to buy the album on its release. I couldn’t open that CD fast enough and now--after listening to it numerous times--I’d like to tell you 16 reasons why you should buy it too. Reason #1: Brave “All That Echoes” kicks off with a bang titled “Brave,” the first track and lead single off the record. Grand orchestral arrangements and a powerful display of vocals leave no question as to why the tune has been happily stuck in the heads of Groban fans since its premier in December. Reason #2: False Alarms Haunting and beautiful is the second track on “All That Echoes,” a dramatic ballad titled “False Alarms.” Groban (who says the song was originally written for his last album but “wasn’t the right situation”) has described

the song as being about, “being in a relationship where you realize that you’re doing all the jumping around and need to be a little more Zen about letting the right thing come to you.” Reason #3: Falling Slowly The third track and one of my many personal favorites is Groban’s cover of “Falling Slowly,” written and originally performed by Glen Hansard. In this piece, Groban brings a passionate take to the song made famous by the beloved movie and Broadway stage musical “Once.” Reason #4: She Moved Through The Fair In track #4 Groban pleasantly surprises (strong emphasis on the ‘pleasant’) with his choice to cover the traditional Celtic song “She Moved Through the Fair.” The song features Groban’s signature smooth vocals with a new, modern take on the beautiful tune. Reason #5: Below The Line It’ll start small. Maybe a toe-tap here and there, but before you know it, it’ll become a full-fledged dance! Rhythmic beats, lively percussion and touching lyrics come together to make up “Below The Line,” track #5 on “All That Echoes” and one that is guaranteed to satisfy. I dare you to try and listen to it only once. Well I know I said I was going to give you 16 reasons to buy Groban’s album, but it seems I’ve run out of space! I suppose that’s to be expected when discussing the talent that is Josh Groban. I guess you’ll just have to purchase the “All That Echoes” exclusive deluxe edition with four bonus tracks and hear reasons #6 through #16 for yourself. There’s the uplifting cover of Stevie Wonder’s “I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever), the beautiful duet with Italian singer Laura Pausini, the touching rendition of Jimmy Webb’s “The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress,” and so much more. It goes without saying that all of Groban’s albums are carefully constructed masterpieces of music and song and I guarantee “All That Echoes” is no exception. *A Grobanite is the official name of a Josh Groban fan <

Offshore banks have received attention in the last few years as U.S. authorities have forced the disclosure of U.S. account holders.
The government actions do not mean that offshore accounts are illegal. Except in rare circumstances, U.S. citizens may have bank accounts and other forms of property outside of the United States. U.S. citizens must, however, report offshore accounts over $10,000 and certain other assets. In addition, all income earned must be reported to the IRS even if earned offshore.

Offshore accounts are legal under U.S. law as long as necessary proper disclosure is made. If disclosure of offshore accounts is not made, a person risks criminal fines, imprisonment and civil penalties. People with offshore accounts and income, who have not made disclosure to the IRS, risk criminal prosecution. Criminal prosecution can be avoided by entry into the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP) offered by the IRS. This program is not available once the IRS receives records from an offshore bank. Acting quickly to enter the OVDP is important, especially if the offshore bank is preparing to turn over records to the IRS.<
U.S. taxes on offshore income may be reduced by the taxes paid to a foreign country.

People to Spring Clean from Your Life By: Jessica Sanchez
Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> Cleaning out the closet is pretty easy for most people. Not me. I hang on to clothes the way a cat hangs on to catnip toys. If someone tries to pull them away (because, let’s face it, most of them are faded and don’t fit anymore) my claws come out to snag them in a desperate attempt to hold on to something that might, just might, come in handy some day; perhaps for an ‘80s costume party? Because of this I have a walk-in closet full of clothes that I don’t ever wear but that represent the faded memories of skinnier times. In some boxes are merely the memories of poor decisions. So whenever you hear a woman exclaim that she “has nothing to wear!” as she swims out from the back of her closet through a sea of colorful dresses and tops, this is probably why. Most of those clothes are nothing more than stagnant reminders of the body she’s outgrown. Perhaps it is time to let go. Cleaning out the closet of your social life is kind of the same. Everyone has friends who don’t fit anymore but you keep them around because of memories of happier times. You can tell who these friends are because you feel compelled to offer a disclaimer before you introduce them to your new friends: “She was a lot of fun… before she started that job.” Or, “We were best friends in college but… he’s changed a bit.” Disclaimers are for infomercials, credit cards and the first 10 rows of Shamu Stadium at Seaworld, not for the people in your life who are supposed to support you, uplift you, make you smile and help you move when you’re too broke to afford mov-
ers and you’re not dating anyone seriously enough to feel comfortable asking them to help you move. Just saying.
make/change plans to accommodate the one person who is too damn good for everything.
So take a look at the people with whom you surround yourself and think about why they’re still in your life, if the only answer is because you’ve “known them forever” then perhaps it’s time to spring clean.
The Eggshell - Almost every conversation with this person turns into a puzzling twist on that childhood game “Telephone.” You have to really watch what you say because, as you’ve probably learned the hard way, your words will get twisted and sliced more times than Joan Rivers. They‘ll take something small told to them and leave a trail of white lies that they expand on. You can say something as simple as, “I‘m usually too tired after work,” and it will somehow get translated into, “My job makes me feel like I‘m drowning in a hopeless pit of despair!” Which is what they’ll tell anyone who asks about you. Put a preemptive end to any false rumors by putting an end to these kinds of friendships.
The Vortex of Negativity - This person has an uncanny knack for only seeing the thorns on a rose and they use it to subtly convince you that the things you like and enjoy are pointless, stupid or tacky. But don’t take it personally, they also think their job, their boss, their neighbors, the new restaurant, the latest movie, Disneyworld and tiny kittens with cute button noses are pointless, stupid or tacky. Their negativity can often be sarcastic and humorous, which is why at first it’s unassuming, but be careful, the last thing you want is to start seeing the world through the murky water of their half-empty glass. Being a positive person starts with surrounding yourself with positive people. The Elitist - This person spews a volcano of judgment that is very similar to the Vortex of Negativity only it erupts from their overwhelming sense of self-worth. You have to marvel at their inability to understand that everyone is not, in fact, yearning for their approval. Whether they’re sneering at people who wear white after Labor Day, rolling their eyes at your newest love interest, or lifting an eyebrow at the restaurant you suggested you’ll see how much simpler life can be when you don’t have to always
The Vampire - Since you make more money than them they naturally think you should always pick up the check. Or maybe you’re a great listener so they’re always unleashing a torrent of woes on you. Whether they’re draining you financially or emotionally you can always tell who these friends are because you treat their phone calls and text messages like rental movies, it’s a chore to return them but it must be done. When you call or hang out with them you have to mentally prepare yourself for something that will surely test your patience or wear down your nerves. You’ll eventually start avoiding them all together anyway so why not do it now? <

The New York
Yankees
Invade Tampa By Hebah Abdelqader Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> To my fellow Tampa Bay Ray fans out there, we have some major competition moving into Tampa this spring. You know whom I’m talking about! The 27-time World Champions New York Yankees. They will be invading Tampa for their annual Spring Training this March at the Steinbrenner Field making Tampa their home away from home while in training. Losing to the Detroit Tigers in 2012, the New York Yankees missed their chance to play the World Series last season. With 27 World Series Championship titles under their belt they are eager to get their twenty-eighth. It’s been four years since the New York Yankees had a crack at the World Series and they are making sure this year is their year. Our beloved Tampa Bay Rays will play against the Yankees twice this March, so make sure to purchase your tickets and support our hometown team on March 10th and 24th. We need to give the Yankees a run for their money and show them who the city really belongs to! The competition is on this training season. Fans can look forward to Derek Jeter returning after his major injury last season. Jeter broke his ankle during the 2012 Playoffs. He had off-season sur-

gery and should be back and ready to play. Unfortunately, this is the last year in the Captain’s contract, but with an $8 million option for the 2014 season we think we will be seeing a lot more of him. Who else is looking forward to seeing how Kevin Youkilis and Joba Chamberlain interact now that they are on the same team?! The rivalry has been hot over the years. It’s been reported that Chamberlain contacted Youkilis after joining the team but has never heard back from him. As we all know, “you are only as strong as your weakest link.” For all the Yankee fans in Tampa, this year could be the last for two major players, Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte. Since starting with the Yankees as rookies in 1995 they have won five World Series titles. With nothing left to prove, they could only be playing for their love of the game. Make sure to stop by and watch them play because this season could be their last. Good competition is great for the heart. So gather your loved ones this spring and head out to the games. It’s a great bonding experience for friends, and the whole family. <

BON APPETIT
Tampa Thai By Kelly Casas Read more at: StyleToMe.com
STYLETOME.COM
> Imagine yourself getting away to the countryside of beautiful Thailand, where the exotic flowers grow and the cool breeze sways on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. If you live in the Tampa Bay area, you won’t have to travel very far. Every Sunday the local Buddhist monastery hosts a food festival for food lovers of all ages. Step into this enchanting community and enjoy exotic foods at a nominal fee, architecture with the Buddhist temple and the sociability of Thailand in a quaint riverside setting located at 5306 Palm River Rd., across from a Baptist Church. The various Thai families begin to prepare and serve food about 10am and they end around 1pm when the service starts inside the temple. You and your family and friends can enjoy authentic Thai cuisine on picnic tables that sit under large trees to keep you cool. Sticking with the thoughtfulness offered by the community, there are also large covered spaces in case of rain so
you can eat without getting wet. We consider this one of the Bay area’s best-kept secrets that we just couldn’t wait to share with our readers, and we are sure you’ll agree. I know you’re probably thinking ‘wait, I’m not a Buddhist.’ Have no worry; although there is a temple on the grounds which visitors are welcome to explore, everyone is invited to enjoy the freshly made food served at the festival. If you decide to enter the temple, do so like you would any other church, but you will be asked to remove your shoes to show respect to your hosts. The temple is also wheelchair friendly so it is open to everyone. This food festival serves as a fundraiser for the people of Wat Tampa, a much shorter name for the actual ‘Wat Mongkolratanaram,’ A Thai community that prepares some of the best food at even more amazing prices.
BON APPETIT
In keeping with Buddhist tradition and teachings, alcoholic drinks are not allowed on the premises where the festival is held. Other beverages are served for guest such as soda, bottled water and a Thai iced tea. Food items range in cost from three to five dollars, a far cry from the usual seven or eight dollar meals you get at the drive-thru. Among the food offered are fried vegetables like yam, taro and banana, rice that is served with your choice of two curries, and garden-fresh salads. The families preparing this food for their visitors are more than happy to explain the different dishes so do not be shy and ask for a sample! They also offer delicious soups that you can create yourself with pork, beef, fish and thick or thin noodles, all stirred together with broth and some veggies. For the food lovers who prefer the less spicy dishes, this is your best bet. The soup is the least spicy meal offered at the festival. Now don’t go think-
ing I forgot about the absolute best part of any meal, the dessert of course! There is a whole separate table of desserts you can indulge in after you’ve had your fill of the main course(s); it’s okay, we won’t say you went back for seconds. The festival is as family friendly as they come where dogs are welcome as long as your furry friend is kept on a leash. Although you are sitting riverside along the Palm River, there is no swimming or fishing allowed. Who has time to swim anyway when you’ve just had the best local Thai food around anyway? We thought so too. After you’ve enjoyed your meal and explored the grounds of the monastery, head on over to the weekly market where you can purchase an assortment of Buddhist items. Every week is a little different merchandise and it is a small tent in which they sell from.
::
From the trips I’ve made, I can guarantee you will find the perfect keepsake. You can buy plants, assorted vegetables and fruits, books from the temple, handmade jewelry and vases to name a few. So if you find yourself with no plans on any given Sunday, go out for a short drive to the Palm River Buddhist monastery to enjoy an afternoon of scrumptious food and to learn a bit about the Thai culture at Tampa’s weekly Thai food festival where you will get the sense of being in a faraway land, right off the Crosstown Expressway. Flow Back in Time on the Hillsborough River By Bailey Hart Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> Today the Hillsborough River may be known for its canoeing, horse trails, boating and even scuba diving, but many may not know about the river’s rich history and how little the surrounding areas of the river have changed in the last 20 years. The river has much to offer any nature enthusiast or history buff. Hillsborough River State Park is one of the oldest state parks in Florida, opening in 1935. Today the park often holds tours about the mystic history of the river. Some other exciting tours include, wildlife viewing, bicycling and hiking. The park welcomes families, pets, and those looking to escape the neighboring urban life of Tampa. The Hillsborough River is a symbol of Florida’s rich history. While the first human inhabitants were Native Americans, the Hillsborough River was already rich with varying wildlife. Many of the same species can still be found there today. The park is a protected gem in Florida. On any given day, one could travel from the city of Tampa and be placed back in time after only a short drive to Hillsborough River State Park. Once there, anyone can seek out the majestic world that thrives by the river. Many bird species such as the Green Heron, woodpeckers, and Barred Owls reside on the river, as well as mammals and reptiles. One could see rabbits or otters playing, and a roaming alligator or two. Some legends say the Hillsborough River houses the oldest, and largest alligators in the state. This little piece of Florida will remain undisturbed for generations to come. It still provides the city’s public water supply and it still houses many of the same species of animals. There are so many fascinating activities for all ages to enjoy at Hillsborough State Park. There’s no question why this is the oldest and one of the most visited State Parks in Florida. Grab a canoe or a kayak, and become one with Florida’s ancestors and surrounding nature. < Hillsborough River State Park 15402 U.S. 301 North Thonotosassa, Florida 33592 813-987-6771 www.floridastateparks.org/hillsboroughriver

REAL ESTATE
Hot Real Estate Trends for 2013 By Kara Sommerville Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> A New Year comes with new resolutions, new ideas and new opportunities. A once bleak real estate market is stabilizing and developing an upturn. New opportunities in the Florida real estate market are emerging as we move into the hopeful New Year. Development and construction continue in the commercial and residential sectors including new high-rises, rental apartments and new retail spaces. Our thriving Florida real estate market is unveiling new trends as sales continue to climb and inventory continues to diminish. The steady decline in listing inventory and historically low interest rates has become the top driving forces of the hottest real estate trends. The term seller’s market is one we haven’t heard since before the real estate bubble. As a Realtor prospering in 2005 to a struggling Realtor learning how to adapt and survive in today’s market, I’ve seen the strong buyers market turn into a sellers market. Homes that are in a good location, good condition and are priced aggressively drive
STYLETOME.COM
buyers. A buyer’s agent working in today’s market has gone from asking and getting everything for the buyers, to making their buyer’s offer as appealing as possible to the seller. The declining inventory and increase of buyers has turned a once gloomy buyers market into a hot sellers market. Today’s buyers continue to be local homegrown domestic buyers consisting of firsttime home buyers and investors looking to build their rental portfolio, but foreign investors are still prominent. Canadian and Chinese buyers account for the largest percentages of foreign investors. Some of these buyers are looking for their family holiday home, vacationing on the beach; other foreign buyers are seizing the opportunity to own the American Dream at a discount. As buyers remain optimistic about our Florida real estate market we will continue to see positive signs of recovery. Statistics and history help us to understand real estate markets are cyclical and long-term investments. The market will heal itself over time, and it’s happening.<

SPRING
is in the Air By: Alyssa Thomann Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> Good riddance cold weather, the first warm days of spring have arrived! It’s time to open up the windows and smell the roses- but not so fast. Springtime brings us sunshine and flowers but with beautiful spring comes ugly allergies. Don’t lose hope though; there are a number of ways to combat your pesky allergies. From medication to household habits, these remedies will allow you to enjoy the season rather than suffer through it. First things first, if you take medications to control your seasonal allergies, start taking them early. Spring pollen season starts much earlier than people think. Generally, pollen starts filling the air as soon as the weather begins to warm up. By starting medications in early March rather than late March, you can keep your symptoms under control as spring progresses. Know your over-the-counter medications. If you have mild seasonal allergies, both nasal sprays and oral over-the-counter antihistamines can effectively manage your symp-

toms. If it seems effectiveness is wearing off, try periodically switching to other brands so your body does not become tolerant of the medication. Just as you should start taking your allergy medication early in the season, the same applies to your daily life. If you have plans to be outside in the afternoon, make sure to take your allergy medication at least 2 hours before heading out. This will give your medication time to get into your system before the pollen does. Be aware of pollen counts. If you’re going to be working outside, consider planning your outdoor work for a day when pollen counts are expected to be low and it is not so windy. If you have severe allergies, consider wearing a protective allergy facemask when mowing the lawn, raking leaves or washing the car. To minimize allergens circulating through your home, keep your doors and windows closed whenever possible. Get an air puri-
fier or a high-efficiency furnace filter and be sure to change it every spring and again in early summer. Be sure to change your air filters in your home often and keep all bookshelves, vents and other places where pollen may collect clean. For some, when spring rolls around, it is not so pleasant to “wake up and smell the roses.” However, with these simple tips, your spring will seem a lot less miserable and a lot more beautiful. <

THE ARTS
Art Basel Miami Beach’s Most Divine Art Show By Jennifer Marcus Photos: © Getty Images for Art Basel Miami

> Miami has it all. The sizzling nightlife, the gorgeous beaches, a melting pot of cultures, inspiring cuisine, and a one-of-a-kind art scene. These elements make Miami one of the ultimate tourist destinations in the world. And it sure was the place to be December 6-9 when art lovers and creative geniuses traveled from all corners of the world to attend the 11th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach. More than 250 galleries were selected to be a part of the most prestigious art show in the United States and a part of the Art Basel series, which originated in 1970 and still occurs each year in Basel, Switzerland. The four-day event took place at the Miami Beach Convention Center and featured work stemming from the Modern period of the early 20th century to the current contemporary work of today. The riveting pieces that decorated the walls came from 31 countries across five continents.

The event extended beyond the walls of the convention center and into every nook and cranny of the city. The presence of Art Basel Miami Beach over the past decade has revitalized Miami art culture and given a new spark to the city along with new buildings for the Miami Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami. Art and fashion have also become the major elements of neighborhoods like Wynwood and the Design District, which are now sprinkled generously with galleries and cuttingedge graffiti art murals on the side of buildings and fixtures.
An electric charge was in the air on opening day and hundreds of art fans lined up outside the convention center minutes before the doors opened. Over the five days, more than 50,000 visitors glided across the halls and observed, evaluated, and purchased the world’s most impressive pieces of art. The volume of visitors is a powerful representation of how the commonality of art can attract people from different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, and location. Art Basel is the premier stage to bring these people together. Plus, this is one serious art show. 2000 artists from the 20th and 21st century were represented and everything from classic, to elegant, to mind-blowing creative, to shocking was featured in the displays of art on the walls, in sculptures, through performance art, and on film and video art. One striking piece on display was a largerthan-life sculpture constructed of LEGO blocks created by Los Carpinteros and titled “Kosmaj Toy.”

Nova, Impressions
The main sector of Art Basel Miami Beach, known as the Art Galleries, featured 201 exhibitors, with returning galleries like the Konrad Fischer Galerie, Bernard Jacobson Gallery and Esther Schipper. Radical newcomers joined as well including Hammer Galleries, Galerie Mehdi Chouakri and Tornabuoni Art. It was here that Basel followers saw vulnerable, shocking, and powerful pieces. Art Nova was a sect of the event offering a platform for newer galleries. These galleries must be less than three years old and created by only two or three artists. Some works with high acclaim were from Sommer Contemporary Art featuring the artists Yael Bartana, Tal R. and Tom Burr. And the group Vitamin Creative Space, which was created by Hao Liang, Yangjiang Group and Zheng Guogu. Only 16 galleries were displayed in Art Positions, a sector that is for individual emerging artists. 12 of the 16 were not seen as part
of last year’s show and thus provided a fresh look for art collectors, critics, and museum directors. A fan favorite was Paulo Nazareth’s “Banana Market/Art Market” which featured an old Volkswagen filled with thousands of bananas. Art Public saw sculptures, interactive performances and site-specific instillations within an open and public format while Art Video featured film and video works by international artists and was projected onto outside wall of the New World Center in Downtown Miami. Events relating to Art Basel swarmed the city. The JW Marriott Hotel presented a “Miami Says ART” retrospective display. Back in 1976, Martin Kreloff had artists shout “art” into a camera and captured the moment on print. 35 years later, the exhibition featured portraits and multimedia documentary from the original “cast” and brought some of these now world-renowned art leaders back together for a reunion.

THE ARTS
And art wasn’t just represented in the traditional forms of paint, photography, and structure. It was also expressed through movement at YogArt, a celebration of yoga, art, and music. YogArt, created by Dawn B Feinberg, was held at Wynwood Walls in the heart of Miami’s up-and-coming art scene, Wynwood…an area that is covered with expressive and gorgeous spray painted masterpieces that splatter the walls of every building, fence, and structure in the area. Four yoga practices were offered throughout the weekend taught by internationally acclaimed yoga teachers and featured the sounds of DJ Drez & the Mayapuris.
“It was art in motion – every person was a part of a living, breathing, moving creation” Feinburg said. And, of course, in typical Miami fashion, the party scene was in full force throughout the weekend and saw the likes of Demi Moore, Martha Stewart, and Calvin Klein amongst others enjoying themselves at Miami’s most decorated hotels and clubs. As Art Basel Miami Beach came to a close, and artwork was tucked away, the buzz remained in the air. Whether it was excitement surrounding practicing yoga under
the stars, the uniqueness of watching film on the side of a building, or admiring the works of the most brilliant artists in the world, past and present, Art Basel Miami Beach was quite the experience. It’s clear why it continues to remain one of the most renowned art shows in the world. <

> So here’s the problem: you packed on a few pounds over the holidays and are now scrambling to lose the weight before bathing suit season...right? Luckily for you, there are a few solutions. Of course, you could always join a gym. While that’s not the most cost effective choice, it’s a viable option that will certainly help you lose your unwanted weight. your wallet. It naturally gives your body the fresh air and good old Vitamin D it needs. It’s also beneficial to your mind. The outdoors provides a serene setting, allowing your mind to forget about the days’ stresses and focus on nothing else but the task at hand.
So there you have it. If this hasn’t convinced you to take your workout routine outdoors, take a look outside while you’re stuck in the gym. See that gorgeous sunshine? Exactly. Go out and enjoy the beautiful weather and just get moving! <
“The best part about them is that all of these exercises are simple and you don’t need any special equipment or weights to do them.”
First, start off with some stretching. There’s nothing more important than making sure your muscles are nice and stretched out so you avoid a pulled, or worse, torn, muscle. Once you’re ready, do some cardio. Ride your bike, strap on some roller blades, go for a jog…anything to get your blood pumping and your muscles warmed up. A good warm-up is essential in providing good results. If you’re lucky enough to live by the water, canoeing or kayaking are terrific ways to get your cardio workout while also toning upper body muscles. And, you could always go for a 10 to 15 minute power walk on the beach. To properly perform power walking, you need to use good posture: keep your chin up and look straight ahead in front of you; be sure your shoulders are back. Keep your arms bent at a ninety-degree angle and swing them with your fists coming up to shoulder level before swinging back. After cardio, do some simple exercises. Lunges, park bench dips, push-ups, and even pull-ups, if there’s a park with a pull-up bar nearby, are great exercises that really work out the targeted muscle groups. The best part about them is that all of these exercises are simple and you don’t need any special equipment or weights to do them.

4) GOOD LIGHTING Codes are easiest to scan in good lighting at high contrast. Test out different lighting where the code is most visible with no glares or shadows over the code.
2) HOLD THE DEVICE STILL Do your best to keep steady and hold the device still. This enables the code to come into perfect focus.

Most simply put, QR codes are 2D codes which can be scanned using a smart phone to access information or take some sort of digital action. Tampa Style Magazine’s Concierge Guide created QR codes which links to our city guide, so that when you scan the code with your phone, you can view the guide pages, which include restaurants, golf, nightlife, fine hotels, etc., instantly finding them with the directions provided.
