Aleksandar Gligoric was born in Novi Sad, the capital of culture in former Yugoslavia. Having to support his family in a country torn by wars and constant crisis, he was forced to put his real interests and talents aside for a while. He started a few business, which all turned out to be very successful and a few years ago, when he could finally find the time to devote himself to his real passions, he started doing photography as something more than just a hobby. He has an excellent eye for the esthetics and detail, which is the first thing you will notice in his photographs. His landscapes are full of life, colors and light and his portraits are overwhelming with emotion that he seems to be able to bring to surface, from what seems to be an ordinary subject on the first glance. He is doing photography out of pure passion, for him it is a calling!

PUBLISHER’S NOTE
Dear Readers, After 13 years in the Style business it’s suffice to say that style can be ageless, as is the fact, I suggest, that style has little to do with the fluctuations of fashion and more to do with a consistency of approach, whatever that approach might be. However, when we speak of style with regard to appearance, a constant recalibrating is necessary in order not to look frozen in time. I am a magazine enthusiast, a junkie who from my earliest school days has been obsessed with flipping though the pages of magazines, first absorbed in their images and stories, later assigning and producing my own. I truly believe that whether a magazine is delivered to your doorstep or to your computer, printed on glossy stock, appearing on your iPad or your cellphone screen, it is still and foremost the work of an exceptional team for a discerning audience. It is ultimately a beautiful and meaningful package of ideas, words and images that our group of experts prepare for you, our readers. While technology efficiently delivers news stories to our desktops, tablets and mobile devices, magazines are all about context—how ideas and images are presented in relation to one another and within a larger point of view. Style Magazines are about trust and partnership with our loyal readers and advertising partners. Stay with us—and expect more.

P.S. Enjoy this current issue of Style and also think about the future of our beautiful and prosperous country. This month we cast our ballots. Take this opportunity to decide who is best to not only stabilize our country but to bring improvement to your personal life, with your heart, without negative influence and with you and your children’s future in mind. Have a most wonderful Thanksgiving. Sincerely,
Sven J. Bode Publisher

CITY NEWS
IN CASE you
MISSED IT! Style Events, News & Gossip From Around The City BY RIESA PASCAL
Now that you’ve packed away your Halloween costume, rinsed off your plastic fangs and eaten way more candy than you’d ever admit, it’s time to sit back and enjoy one of the most gorgeous months in the City Beautiful! As we dive headfirst into November, let’s take a look back at how Orlando came to life with a variety of Halloween and Oktoberfest inspired fun last month. Here are the highlights, just in case you missed it! Wall St. Plaza’s BlocktoberFest took over Downtown Orlando on Saturday, October 1st! Guests of the free event enjoyed $3 drink specials on Sam Adams and Jäger, a $20 beer garden with unlimited Sam Adams draft and glass stein, and a midnight Jäger toast with 100 shots at the stage. Later on there were even more drink specials at the Oktoberfest Pub Crawl! After working up an appetite, partygoers enjoyed German food specials in select restaurants and a Currywurst food truck. Live music from The Adam Moreno Project and The Jimmy & Eckhard German Oktoberfest Show kept the good vibes going all night long.
The 20th Annual Tales & Tails Gala occurred on Saturday, October 1st and it was “pawsitively” delightful! The event took place at Rosen Shingle Creek and benefited the Southeast Region of Canine Companions for Independence. It was a glamorous evening of celebration and storytelling to honor the unique connection between canines and their companions. Major event sponsors included Rosen Shingle Creek, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, SunDance Marketing Solutions and MLB Creative. Live entertainment came in the form of The Royals as attendees dined on delicious cuisine, enjoyed complimentary beverages, watched canine heroes demonstrate their extraordinary talents and heard inspirational stories of courage and triumph from recipients of highly-trained assistance dogs. The streets of Universal Studios came alive with hordes of terrifying mutants, monsters and maniacs this month, which can only mean one thing—Halloween Horror Nights is back! The nation’s premier Halloween event returned for its 26th year of Halloween 18 ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM
frights and scares. Guests explored nine all-new terrifying haunted houses, braved multiple creature-filled scare zones and cried with laughter at outrageous live shows. In between the screams, thrill-seeking guests delighted in a nighttime experience of braving the park’s many exciting rides and attractions. The largest horror convention in the United States returned on October 7th for a weekend of celebrating the dark side of comic con! Spooky Empire took place at the Orange County Convention Center and featured an array of activities including: live music, performances, a tattoo festival, a film festival, a zombie walk, a kids zone and a costume and cosplay contest. Guests at Spooky Empire also enjoyed creepy cars, seminars, a game room and Q&As with artists, authors and filmmakers among many other exhilarating activities. Even various celebrity guests appeared throughout the weekend including icons from some of the country’s most beloved horror movies.
CITY NEWS On October 13th, a lucky group of individuals got to experience the true definition of luxury at an exciting event celebrating the Grand Opening of Select Orlando. As Central Florida’s newest destination for today’s most elusive luxury brands and accessories, it only makes sense that their stylish event would be presented by Orlando Style! Guests enjoyed glamorous fashion displays, live DJ entertainment, refreshing beverages, hor d’oeuvres, free copies of Orlando Style Magazine and more. Door prize handouts included a round of golf and lunch for two at the Four Seasons, a Mont Blanc pen and two Orlando Magic Ultimate seats for a game. The mission of the Orlando Film Festival is to support and promote the arts in Downtown Orlando through the medium of film. From Oct 19-23, the growing festival achieved all that and more when the beloved event returned to Cobb Plaza Cinema Cafe. Year after year, the unique festival “for filmmakers by filmmakers” continues to inspire and celebrate filmmakers in the Central Florida community. This year was no different as attendees enjoyed an enhanced movie viewing experience in Downtown Orlando through a variety of creative, unique and entertaining events. Windermere’s Craft Beer Fest is the ultimate festival to celebrate local craft beer! On October 22nd, the town kicked off the 3rd annual event with exciting live music, exquisite tavern style food and plenty of beer of course! Guests strolled through town square and enjoyed a sampling of over 50 craft beers and more. The Windermere Craft Beer Fest is presented by Lakeside Realty and benefits the Windermere Police Foundation and Florida Brewers Guild.
GUESTS STROLLED THROUGH TOWN SQUARE AND ENJOYED A SAMPLING OF OVER 50 CRAFT BEERS AND MORE. The Annual Orlando Style Magazine Holiday Party returned early this year much to the delight of many Halloween enthusiast guests! On October 25th, the Who’s Who of Orlando gathered for an elegant evening of Halloween-themed fun and celebrations. The VIP event is a favorite among members of the community who work closely with Style Magazines’ Founders, Sven and Cathleen Bode. Once again this year, the couple graciously welcomed employees and close friends into their home to say ‘Thank You’ for a successful year and to toast to the future. Champagne was flowing and exquisite hors d’oeuvres were enjoyed as the intimate group mingled and chatted late into the night. The evening ended with Cathleen’s annual raffle giveaway of generous gift cards and certificates to a selection of Orlando’s great venues. The beautiful event was catered by Cuisiniers. From October 28-29, the Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic offered attendees unlimited tastings at more than 40 stations featuring culinary selections from the hotel’s award-winning restaurants. Event guests also enjoyed fine wine from more than 30 wineries and hands-on seminars with the hotel’s chefs and certified beverage experts. All of it took place amidst a festive backdrop of live entertainment on the hotel’s scenic causeway. In addition to the wine, seminars and entertainment, guests with upgraded tickets also experienced exclusive access to a beer garden featuring a wide selection of craft beers and Oktoberfestinspired cuisine. YDE RTW SPRING/SUMMER 2017
“Love is Paradise” is the theme for YDE’s SS17 collection. Designer Ole Yde takes his inspiration from the simple things that make him happy in life such as flowers, rainbows and waves. There is movement and color in most of the pieces. Ruffles, glitter and fun floral prints help to give the collection a whimsical and youthful edge. It’s designed for women who like feminine and refined clothes but who also like to have fun with what they wear. For SS17, Ole Yde creates his own little garden of Eden. 22 ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

HARD ROCK HOTELS By Dana Damato
Music filled the air. Music lyrics, platinum records, memorabilia in glass cases and musician’s portraits filled up the walls and space of the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando. Upon my entrance into the lobby, it didn’t feel as if I was walking into a hotel – but that I was entering a behind-the-scenes tour of a rock n’ roll museum. From the moment I stepped foot into this music sanctuary, I no longer felt like a guest, but somehow a part of the music culture. It wasn’t until I got to my room that the fun really started. Not only did I feel like rock star, but I got to live like one too throughout the duration of my stay.
“UPON ENTERING MY ROOM, WHICH CAME WITH A GORGEOUS VIEW OVERLOOKING THE HOTEL’S POOL, I ALSO NOTICED THERE WAS A BEAUTIFUL BRAND NEW FENDER GUITAR WAITING FOR ME ON THE COUCH.” The beautiful Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando offers 650 guestrooms, starting at 375 square feet, 29 Suites, and over 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space. One of the perks to staying at the hotel is receiving complimentary, unlimited Universal Express ride access in both theme parks and early park admission to Islands of Adventure.
Upon entering my room, which came with a gorgeous view overlooking the hotel’s pool, I also noticed there was a beautiful brand new Fender guitar waiting for me on the couch. Why is there a guitar available to me at any moment of my stay? Well, it’s simply because of the Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos incredibly entertaining package the ‘Amplified’ package, available now to December 31, 2016 at all 23 hotels around the globe. CEVICHE TAPAS BAR AND RESTAURANT By Joanna Mazewski While Orlando’s culinary scene is pulsating with organically diverse offerings set in outdoor digital and neon lights over the bumper-to-bumper theme park districts, it doesn’t always have to feel that way. There is still one place you can enjoy a quiet night surrounded by complete ambience and modern dining in a world that feels so far away, you’ll forget that you’re peering out the windows of Church Street Station in historic Downtown Orlando. Ceviche Tapas Bar and Restaurant might literally be in the heart of the world’s entertainment district, but it feels more like a Spanish excursion and old-world flair than you’ve ever experienced before in the City Beautiful. Delicate and raw seafood are heavily popular in culinary circles from Lisbon to Lima, but a real ceviche experience offers an orgasmic fusion of flavors that is so undeniably zesty, it’s no wonder that you would need hot Latin blood in
order to truly love and appreciate it for what it is. For the rest of us though, it’s an experience as well as an education, as the Latin dish has only caught on in the United States for a few short years now. In fact, it’s the new joie de vivre. You would think that with Ceviche Tapas Bar and Restaurant’s Latin roots, it would come from the nearby 305, but it actually hails much closer from Tampa and St. Petersburg, an area obviously spoiled in the seafood department. Caledon Concepts President Lee Karlins along with Director of Development Dave Madera and newly-appointed Corporate Executive Chef Matthew Rainey are bringing their boutique restaurant concept style and vision to Orlando, complete with classic dishes with contemporary twists. Mix in space that includes rustic décor and highceiling walls along with century-old furniture pieces, it’s no wonder that Orlando’s sexy is coming back. 30 ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM
Like most tapas restaurants, the menu is extensive, but according to Chef Rainey, the team behind the kitchen is now focusing on quality rather than quantity and that’s why they’ve reduced their offerings from over 80 items to a mere 50. Our dining experience was all but a robust one, with the restaurant so quiet, you can hear the majority of Orlando’s population heading west on the I-4 corridor to escape the oncoming wrath that was to be Hurricane Matthew on Central Florida (luckily the city and surrounding area escaped with minimal to no damage). But maybe that’s a good thing, as it did give Chef Rainey an opportunity to work on that quality over quantity with the restaurant’s latest offerings. Plus, an oncoming storm wasn’t going to deter us from the exhilarating onslaught of flavors that was ahead. The new menu offers Ceviche atun, complete with ahi tuna, avocado, cilantro, rocoto and roasted corn nuts (topped with a good science of

With a supper-club vibe, Ceviche’s location on Church Street is part of the area’s revitalized campaign to bring back locals with culinary palates so meticulous, you would think you were dining in one of the country’s most competitive metropolitan areas. Ceviche Tapas Bar and Restaurant is bringing to Orlando what it’s long been missing, and that’s an actual Mediterranean and if you will, old-world experience, without the manufactured wonder and entertainment that the city is well known for. UNBELIEVABLE MOVIE MAKEOVERS HOLLYWOOD STARS & THE ROLES THAT MADE THEM UNRECOGNIZABLE! BY RIESA PASCAL
Gwyneth Paltrow in Shallow Hal November will mark 15 years since the release of the romantic-comedy Shallow Hal in which the gorgeous, Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow played a 300lb woman named Rosemary. In order to achieve the appearance, Gwyneth had to don a fat suit, which only weighed 25lbs but visually added much more to her small frame. At the time of the movie’s release, Paltrow recalled how it felt to wear the fat suit in an interview with W magazine. “The first day I tried it on, I was in the Tribeca Grand and I walked through the lobby. It was so sad; it was so disturbing. No one would make eye contact with me because I was obese. I felt humiliated because people were really dismissive.”
Johnny Depp in Black Mass Johnny Depp is easily one of the most versatile actors in the world and over the years he has transformed his appearance countless times for a role. Most recently, the 2015 crime drama Black Mass saw Depp rocking blue contacts, aging makeup and a balding hairpiece that took 22 hours to make and could only be worn once. 25 years earlier, Depp transformed his appearance for the first time in his career when he starred in the 1990 fantasy film Edward Scissorhands. For his unforgettable role as the gentle boy with scissors for fingers, Depp had to spend hours in makeup each day.

Matthew McConaughey in Gold With his charming Texan accent and chiseled abs, Matthew McConaughey is undeniably a Hollywood heartthrob. Unfortunately for the ladies, McConaughey had to shake things up a bit for his role in the upcoming drama-thriller Gold. In the film set to be released on Christmas Day, McConaughey will be seen sporting a receding hairline wig and a beer belly, which he gained nearly 50 pounds to achieve. This isn’t the first time McConaughey has transformed his appearance for a role. In 2013 he won an Oscar after dropping to 135 pounds for his starring role in Dallas Buyers Club.

Many of Hollywood’s biggest names can’t walk around in public without being ambushed by a mob of crazed fans. That is, unless they happened to be cleverly disguised in some incredibly realistic makeup and prosthetics! The following stars secured some very iconic roles, but drastically changed their appearance in the process. If these characters had walked past unaware fans on the street, it’s safe to say even the biggest fanatic wouldn’t have bat an eye!
Rooney Mara in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo When the bestselling novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was adapted into a movie, everyone was curious to see how the title character of investigator Lisbeth Salander would come to life on the big screen. Rooney Mara secured the role and became almost completely unrecognizable in the process. In order to achieve the unusual appearance of the heavily inked and pierced computer hacker, Mara had part of her head shaved and the remaining hair was dyed black. She also had her eyebrows bleached and received real piercings on her nipples, eyebrows, nose and ears.
Ryan Reynolds in Just Friends Unlike McConaughey, Ryan Reynolds didn’t have to put on real pounds in order to play awkward and overweight high school nerd Chris Brander in the romantic-comedy Just Friends. Fortunately for the hunky actor, the makeup department only had him wear a fat suit for the first part of the film. Reynolds said he decided not to go the McConaughey route and actually gain the weight because he isn’t that committed to his craft. “Because it’s really hard to lose 45 pounds in an hour without cutting an actual limb off,” joked Reynolds. “It was a labor of love though. I loved wearing that suit.”

Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder In the 2008 action-comedy Tropic Thunder, Tom Cruise portrayed the profane, hottempered studio executive Les Grossman. The balding and overweight character is one of Cruise’s most bizarre roles and it was apparently Cruise who encouraged screenwriters Justin Theroux and Ben Stiller to make it that way! When it came to Les Grossman’s appearance, Cruise suggested a truly unique feature. Theroux spoke of Cruise’s request saying, “He wanted these prosthetic hands. Big, chubby hands.” The end result was a character that was as offensive as he was memorable and the role earned Cruise a Golden Globe nomination.

LIPS
Red lipstick is one of the most
primitive and opulent forms of beauty. Whether it is a celebrity walking the red carpet or a girls night out, this sultry beauty trend works for women everywhere and is always an obvious go to. So if the red lipstick really is a tale as old as time, why are we writing ANOTHER article about it? Simple, because there are hundreds of shades of red and not surprisingly each shade has its own style and meaning to it. Here’s our 411 on five different shades of red lipstick, what styles they go best with, and what they say about you. Pick your favorite or try them all and get ready to tell starstruck spectators to “red my lips.” Rouge Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Color Christian Louboutin’s matte lip color is truly one of the most classic styles of the red lip. This richly pigmented red lip color is the ultimate stamp of sophisticated seduction to add to any look. While this timeless shade of red pairs well with all colors it pops the most when worn with white or a little black dress. This color is essential for any night out with the girls or romantic date. Available at Neiman Marcus $90
Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Lady 325 This Dolce & Gabbana red lipstick is a few shades darker than the ‘traditional’ red color. The deepness in the color symbolizes power and confidence making this color a must have for the office. A darker shade of red such as Lady 325 can also create the ultimate wow factor when worn by any of the pale skin, round eyed women out there by highlighting your unique facial features. Available at Sephora $36 Tom Ford Tony Tom Ford’s Lip Color is for those looking for a fun side to the traditional red. The color mixes hues of red and orange with a metallic coating creating a very playful and youthful look. We are totally loving the pop it can add to any outfit without going over the top and rating it as a must have accessory for upcoming music festivals. with its lighter shading and splash of pink undertones. This is a much more subtle color than some of the other shades mentioned above but still carries the same beauty and allure. The simplicity with this color makes it perfect for everyday wear and doesn’t need to be combined with a full face of makeup or fancy dress. In fact, this color creates a perfect look when applied on a fresh face on the way out of the gym or at the stop light on your way to run errands. Available at Neiman Marcus $57 La Prairie Cellular Luxe Lip Colour in Rose Automne La Prairie combines pigments of taupe and red to create their luxe lip colour Rose Automne. This rich color combo creates a more minimalized sensual look than bright reds. This look is still very sultry but more understated amongst a crowd. A color like this is perfect for nights you want to look your best without looking like you put much effort in your appearance. The best part of this color? The mixture of colors used to create it forms a color that looks stunning on every skin tone. Available at www.LaPrairie.com $55

SPOTLIGHT ON THE LAW Special Promotional Feature
THE GOVERNMENT’S WAR ON FINANCIAL PRIVACY By Mark L. Horwitz Criminal Defense Attorney
In 1970 the US Government began its efforts to do away with financial privacy with a series of laws that affect financial institutions, businesses and individuals. The laws contain criminal violations with long terms of imprisonment and civil penalties including forfeiture of bank accounts and other assets including the loss of one’s home. These laws apply even if an individual has no illegal income. The Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) was the first major legislation designed to keep track of all financial banking activities. The government has added numerous statutes and regulations which require financial institutions to keep records on its customers. A financial institution includes not only banks but also: security brokerage firms, jewelry stores, pawnbrokers, and travel agencies; car, plane and boat businesses; insurance companies; real estate closing businesses and others.

A financial institution must not only keep customer records, but must also report cash deposits or withdrawals in excess of $10,000 to the Treasury Department by filing a Currency Transaction Report (CTR). Financial institutions are also required

to file Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) for deposits of less than $10,000. The CTR and SAR require the financial institution to give the government a heads-up as to transactions which might otherwise go unreported unless the government inquired of a bank about its customer. The Government’s effort to keep track of everyone’s financial dealings does not end with efforts directed to financial institutions. Federal regulations also require any company or individual engaged in business to report to the government a cash transaction or series of cash transactions with a customer that exceeds $10,000 over a 12 month period. The government also has regulations to keep track of banking activities of US citizens with offshore bank accounts and to learn of cash coming in or out of the US. A person who brings in or takes out of the US over $10,000 in cash or negotiable instruments must disclose this activity by filing a government form upon leaving or returning to the US.
If a person has over $10,000 in one or more foreign financial institutions, another report must be submitted to the Treasury Department every year by June 30th. In 2010 the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) was passed creating an obligation on US citizens and residents with assets outside the United States, to disclose the assets by completing a form titled “Statement of Specified Foreign Financial Assets”. The amount required to trigger the obligation to report the foreign assets varies depending upon different factors. Fifty thousand dollars in assets may trigger the obligation to file the form. FATCA also requires offshore financial institutions to report its US customers to the Treasury Department and pay a portion of income earned on the accounts to the IRS. Many banks around the world are now refusing to take on US citizens as customers.

A person is subject to criminal prosecution and incarceration for failure to disclose financial information or for causing banks or other businesses to fail to file the required disclosure forms. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO VOTE,
RIGHT?
By Mark NeJame | Contributor Vanessa Louise Braeley
As we trudge through the tabloidworthy debates between our two Presidential candidates, we must stay focused on the main issue (as Anderson Cooper would say): We, as a country, are about to elect the President of the United States. You may want to stay home on November 8th. You may want to scream. You may be on a one-way flight to Kazakhstan. Whatever your position, please remember that the right to participate in political elections is one that was (and is still) fought for and does count, in one way or another. “Count,” in the instance of the Presidential election, may mean directly or indirectly or really indirectly – that’s a great topic served over tapas and wine. But the fact of the matter is the basic right to participate in the Presidential election should be respected and guarded, regardless of how the candidates may have degraded and disrespected during this campaign.
Suffrage, or the right to vote in a political election, was first introduced to the Federal Constitution in 1870, shortly after the abolition of slavery. There are two simple sections to the Fifteenth Amendment. Section 1 states: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.” Section 2 simply affords Congress the right to enforce legislation relating to the Amendment. That’s all she wrote, folks! There is no other language. And therein lies the problem… The language is clear as mud or clear as day, depending on your interpretation. Does
it afford us, individual citizens, the right to vote? Or does it merely restrict Congress from infringing on that right? Most would say the latter, and that the former is implied, at least with respect to a Federally-protected constitutional right. The complex voting process for the Presidential election certainly doesn’t clarify things; it keeps an individual citizen’s vote at arm’s-length with the final decision-making process. As we are all aware, the outcome of the election is decided by a majority of the Electoral Votes, which are cast by Electoral Colleges. There are currently 538 Electoral Colleges, therefore there are 538 Electoral Votes to be cast. Winner must take a majority, which is 270 Electoral Votes. Every state a certain number of Electoral Colleges; this number is equal to the number of Congressional representatives that state is entitled to in order to accomplish a proportional vote.
WHATEVER YOUR POSITION, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN POLITICAL ELECTIONS IS ONE THAT WAS (AND IS STILL) FOUGHT FOR AND DOES COUNT, IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. But how does each individual’s vote affect the Electoral College vote? Well my friends, let that veil of fog settle in over your brow, because there is no easy (or correct) answer, but here’s food for thought: when you vote for the President, you are voting in a
59 STYLETOME.COM
state election. The state elections are the popular votes – the individual citizens’ votes – which then determine who gets to sit in the Electoral Colleges. So essentially, you are determining who gets to determine who gets the Presidency. It’s a daisy chain of lovely complexities that even 32,432 pages written by a slew of experts couldn’t clarify. However - and this is a big however – there are checks and balances, and this brings us back full circle. The Electoral College process is outlined in Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution, and is a reflection of a primary intent of the Founding Fathers: to maintain state power by allowing each state to determine the process by which it voted in Electors, who in turn vote for the President. Up for debate is whether the current process is anachronistic and in need of modification, or whether the checks and balances are sufficiently applicable to afford everyone their proportional vote. So stay tuned, general population, because you may have more of a say in the near future. And with decision making power comes accountability… Worth it? That’s for you to decide. ***Fun fact! Voting was traditionally on Tuesday because it did not interfere with the Biblical Sabbath or market day, which was held on Wednesday.

TIP TWO: MANUAL LABOR A simple way to get rid of house guests without seeming rude is to threaten manual labor. After the meal is over get up from the table while saying something along the lines of, “This was another wonderful Thanksgiving, but you should all escape before I put you to work cleaning up the kitchen.” This scheme works even better if you have your children and or significant other in on it and have them groan and mutter to your relatives about how much of a dictator you are about cleaning and that they also wish they could leave.
TIP THREE: CUT THE CABLE This may be the most tricky way to get your house empty but it is also surefire to work. Turn off the power switch or outlet that is connected to your cable box. Without football to watch the husbands will become antsy with only their wives storytelling to keep them entertained. It shouldn’t take but a few minutes of “lady talk” before the men will start gathering their stuff and urging their family to head home where they can finish watching the game.
TIP FOUR: CLOSING TIME If the group really isn’t getting the hint and you’re finding yourself entering into an exhaustion induced rage it may be time to leave the more gentle approaches behind and be direct. Although, you still don’t want to appear ungrateful as I am sure that will become the story re-told at many a family gathering to come, and nobody wants that. So why not go for the approach that seems to be a classic indication it is time to leave ever since its release in 1998. That’s right, I am talking about “Closing Time” by Semisonic. Hook up your phone or iPad into the speaker system, open up Spotify, find the song, press play and turn the volume on full blast. This approach is direct with the song’s opening lyrics, “Closing time - you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here,” as well as being an end of the night classic. It should get your guests out of your house all while laughing at your sassy creativity.

REAL ESTATE
WHY SHOULD I INVEST IN
By Hooman Hamzehloui
COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE? Commercial real estate is the only investment that provides a high annual cash yield, with significant equity growth, the ability to be leveraged for massive gains, the security of a hard asset that appreciates, and outstanding tax benefits. If those factors don’t motivate you to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity, let me remind you that some of the greatest fortunes in America have been built by investing in commercial real estate. Use Other People’s Money to Make Massive Money One of the greatest benefits of commercial real estate is that investors strategically use other people’s money to produce massive returns. Investors typically put down 2530% and finance the balance while using the rental income to pay the loan and cover the operating expenses, while building equity and creating cash flow.
As your tenants pay down your loan, you are building equity in an appreciating asset while producing an additional source of income. That income drastically increases when you have paid off your loan, producing an outstanding return for many years to come. If that isn’t beautiful, I don’t know what is. Success Leaves Clues Creating a successful real estate portfolio will take time and strategic planning. Over the course of the next few months, it is our mission to give you the knowledge and ability to create a real estate portfolio that will allow you to retire in style with a fortune in the bank. It is our goal to educate you how to: • Analyze investment deals like a pro. • Familiarize yourself with the key metrics used to assessing real estate. • Create a Commercial Real Estate investment action plan.
64 STYLETOME.COM
• How to strategically leverage your funds into massive wealth. • Identify the best deals and get them closed. • How to successfully perform all the necessary due diligence. • How to find motivated sellers. • Creating key relationships within the industry • Learn how to close the toughest deals. Creative deal making. In closing, history’s biggest movers and shakers created their own luck by seizing the moment when opportunity presented itself. Why not you? Why not now?

In spring 2016, Opal Sands Resort opened its doors to guests who are seeking a modern, yet luxurious take on a Florida beach getaway. Located in the heart of Clearwater, Opal Sands Resort is a fresh, contemporary and glamorous beachfront retreat overlooking breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico. From the moment of my arrival, I was immediately immersed in a creative, coastal-inspired atmosphere, which perfectly complemented the beauty of the destination. I was incredibly impressed by the resort’s passion for local, commissioned artwork that reflects the Clearwater area at each and every turn. An elegant fountain with artistic impressions of a sunset and egrets in flight stands watch over the Opal Sands entrance. An expansive, three-dimensional glass and metal sculpture represents the changing colors of waves as you ascend an escalator to the pristine lobby. A stunning oil painting capturing a vibrant Gulf of Mexico sunset and the iconic Pier 60 stands regal along the entire width of the front desk wall. The design concept of the art collection is “color, reflect, and restore” and it truly helps Opal Sands set the bar for stylish and designforward luxury resorts. The beach-chic furnishings and palettes of natural colors didn’t end with the lobby. Stepping into my accommodations, I was immediately greeted by touches of green, blue and turquoise tones throughout the room’s modern decor. My accommodation was just one of 230 gorgeous rooms that boast stunning panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a spacious balcony provided a peaceful space for me to relax and unwind inbetween the many adventures taking place around the resort and the award-winning city of Clearwater. My highly anticipated escape to Opal Sands Resort was the perfect opportunity to discover for myself why Clearwater was voted the #1 beach in America by TripAdvisor. The resort is just a casual stroll away from local eateries and shops, water sports and boating, parks, art and cultural outposts, and much more. My first such venture off the Opal Sands property brought my companions and I to the “Little Toot,” a forty foot authentic tugboat that took us on an exciting sightseeing, dolphin watching adventure. Captain Zac and Misty narrated our tour of the Gulf of Mexico and Clearwater Harbor as we cruised through the sparkling water and squealed in delight to the sight of several dolphins jumping in our wake. Located a short drive away from Opal Sands is Clearwater’s sister city of St. Petersburg.
An afternoon excursion into St. Pete introduced my companions and I to another one of the many unique activities available in the Tampa Bay area. Morean Art Center is a local artist hub that specializes in many mediums including everything from drawing, painting and jewelry to photography, clay, and metal sculptures. Multiple workshops and classes are available for hands-on learning experiences which is how we came to embrace our inner artists and try our hand at glass blowing. Jeremiah, our expert guide, walked us through the process as we created magnificent pieces of art in the glass blowing studio affectionately named “The Hot Shop.” Playing artist for the day worked up a hefty appetite, which was fed at Locale Market’s Farmtable Kitchen, a culinary experience in St. Pete that quickly became one of downtown’s newest foodie havens. With their excellent farm-and-Gulf-to-table fare, it was easy to see why patrons keep returning, but fortunately guests of Opal Sands don’t have to venture into St. Pete if they’re in search of exquisite dining a little closer to home. From Reflections Poolside Bar to Sandbar beachfront restaurant, Opal Sands Resort is brimming with mouth-watering dishes that tantalize your taste buds with beautifully complex flavors. An evening dinner at SeaGuini provided my companions and I with one of many such dining experiences on property. Sea-Guini is dedicated to sourcing the freshest ingredients and calls on the best of the area’s local farmers and fishermen. A 10 foot metal grouper displayed over the entrance alluded to the fresh sea-to-table, coastal-inspired Italian cuisine that awaited us inside. We kicked off the evening with a 1-on-1 mixology demo that brought us up close and personal with the precision and preparation of Sea-Guini’s creative craft cocktail program. In addition to twists on classic favorites, other standout features of the restaurant included a large brick pizza oven and a homemade pasta making station where guests can watch chefs create staple components of dishes from the Sea Guini menu. As I dined on a rich Rigatoni Bolognese and savory appetizers, my companions and I were spoiled with Opal Sands boast worthy Gulf of Mexico views. As a health-conscious guest, I couldn’t depart without a trip to the fitness center and Opal Sands Resort provided an ideal, energizing atmosphere to work up a sweat. I spent my final morning jogging on a treadmill that overlooked the beautiful Clearwater beach rated by USA Today as the “Best Beach in Florida.” Not long afterwards I found myself 69 TAMPASTYLEMAGAZINE.COM
next door at the Opal Spa. Inspired by the calm and soothing Gulf of Mexico waters, the Opal Spa offered up a tranquil setting to unwind and be pampered. The spa features five treatment rooms as well as indoor and outdoor relaxation areas providing unobstructed views of the coastline. The Spa also boasts signature services and customizable treatments including massages, facials, body wraps, scrubs, rituals and reflexology. I went with the Signature Body Renewal, a nature-inspired exfoliation treatment and massage that refreshed my senses, restored my body and renewed my mind as I mentally prepared for my return to the “real” world. With its sugar-soft sand and vibrant sunsets, the award-winning Clearwater Beach provides visitors with a truly charming beach town environment. Having Opal Sands situated right in the heart of that destination allows for the most luxurious accommodations you’ll ever need to enjoy the endless adventures available along Florida’s Gulf Coast. Venture out on a deep sea fishing expedition before returning to enjoy the nightly sunset celebration at Pier 60. Take a dip in Opal Sand Resort’s zeroentry Gulf front pool and hot tub. Soak up the sun on lounge chairs while friendly pool attendants cater to all your needs to ensure an unforgettable day of relaxation. Indulge yourself in upscale waterfront dining and handcrafted cocktails as the fiery sun slips behind the Gulf of Mexico and fades into the night sky. Visit the new Opal Sands Resort for yourself to experience tropical opulence at its finest and endless fun for all ages. DON’T MISS THE BEAT

DON’T MISS THE BEAT
BOB DYLAN BY COURTNEY CAGGIANO
In 1964, an honest man with an acoustic guitar sang to crowds that “the times they are a-changin,’” and fifty-two years later, the lyrics that followed that line still ring as true as they did when written. The writer behind these seemingly prophetic words may not have known the impact his simple songs would have as time went on, yet they remain a timeless piece of wisdom that has become an American legend and will always be an American truth. Dylan is the first musician to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, putting him in the same company of literary greats, including Ernest Hemingway and T.S. Eliot. The artist was awarded the Nobel Prize on October 13, 2016. While the decision to pass this coveted title on to such an outsider of the craft has many literary purists heated, an equally moving argument can be made for Dylan’s triumph of creating original expression through the most effective media of his time. 1961 set the stage for a young man from Minnesota to do something more with his vision of the world than just ponder it. Dylan had a keen eye for culture, noticing the intricacies that set the rhythm of change and the pace of progression. At the age of 20, Dylan joined the noise of the New York music scene and offered his humble addition to the conversation that would soundtrack the turbulent decade to follow. From the early days of emulating protest songs like those of Woody Guthrie in cafes throughout Greenwich Village to penning his own lyrics, Dylan became a dominant songwriter in his crowd of societal commentators. The churning sea of social injustice threw Dylan into uncharted waters in a boat of his own making. The musician learned how to adapt to the music scene while learning how to navigate the changing
cultural phenomenons that inspired so many of his songs, like “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Like a Rolling Stone.” In the center of the storm that was the 1960s, Dylan nurtured a gift of bringing to life the thoughts and feelings of those who could only express emotion through protest. In a world scarred with division, Dylan brought unity through lyrics that related to listeners on a universal level. This sense of understanding is the simple truth behind Bob Dylan’s greatness. It’s the age old fact that no matter what decade we’re in, what side we’re on, we are all seeking the truth that shines a light on a world that has become filled with fleeting, transient ideals, and we found it with a simple guitar and a man humbly plucking its six strings. Perhaps that’s what honesty sounds like. Even if you take the Nobel Peace Prize out of Bob Dylan’s list of accolades, or if you take the notable melodies away from the lyrics that have shaped our cultural climate, the song remains, along with that whisper of truth that weaves its way through the wind of change. And we’re all still singing it. Come listen to the songs that have left a mark on our history as Bob Dylan takes his 2016 tour to Ruth Eckerd Hall on November 19.
THIS SENSE OF UNDERSTANDING IS THE SIMPLE TRUTH BEHIND BOB DYLAN’S GREATNESS.
