continues to grow not just in student population but also in the construction of new buildings such as the John M. O’ Quinn Law Building and Tilman J Fertitta Family College of Medicine.

UH’s facilities growth includes the continuous need to procure a variety of non-construction goods and services, all of which undergirds UH’s recognition as an institutional “Powerhouse.”

is a Registered Apprenticeship program that leads people to an earn-and-learn approach to employment. This structured approach to education and training allows apprentices to earn a wage while acquiring the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for a specific occupation or industry.

TRWA program plays a vital role in nurturing local talent, supporting economic development, and creating a skilled workforce that can address the unique challenges and opportunities present in rural communities. Individuals must complete the pre-apprenticeship program before being admitted to our Registered Apprenticeship program.

The pre-apprenticeship is an in-depth 4 to 16-week program designed to prepare people for today’s employment by combining industry training with soft skills, life skills, and job search techniques.

UPCOMING PRE-APPRENTICESHIP CLASSES

Cybersecurity • Carpentry • Low voltage • Plumbing

Our pre-apprenticeship program emphasizes the whole development of the individual, including goal setting, resume writing, interviewing, appropriate wardrobe for success, leveraging your job hunt, resolving conflicts, time management, financial competence, and a chance to put newly acquired skills into practice.

The first week will focus on foundational job readiness skills, delivered through in-person training at a designated location. In the following weeks, participants will transition to specialized industryspecific training to further enhance their skills and prepare them for the workforce.

Business Opportunity promotes initiatives to assist in the growth of Houston's business community, particularly Historically Underutilized, Women, and Minority Owned businesses.

Fort Bend Independent School District

Small Business Enterprise Program

The Fort Bend Independent School District’s (FBISD) Small Business Enterprise Program (“SBEP”) provides increased business opportunities for locally certified small businesses to participate in contracting and procurement at the District.

• The FBISD Board of Trustees adopted the Small Business Enterprise Program. In November, Fort Bend ISD voters approved the 2023 Bond, a $1.26 billion package that includes funding for the construction of new schools and classroom additions, safety and security enhancements, renovations to address maintenance and adequacy throughout the District, and transportation and technology needs.

• The SBEP is a goal-oriented program, requiring contractors to whom the District awards prime contracts for architectural design services, engineering design services or construction services valued at $50,000 or greater to use, at a minimum, “Good Faith Efforts” to utilize certified small businesses subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.

• FBISD has set an annual SBEP participation goal of twenty-five (25%) percent of the dollar amount of all SBEP-eligible contracts.

• FBISD recognizes that individual actual participation may vary based on subcontracting opportunities, availability of small/minority businesses, and price competitiveness.

THE CELEBRATION CONTINUES!

The T in Diversity

Tellepsen is recognized throughout the Houston area for its track record in establishing resultsoriented programs for historically underutilized business (HUB) But as our company values tell us, the status quo is unacceptable Where we have an opportunity to grow stronger is where our mission is taking us next: to evolve in greater diversity within our organization and significantly expand our MBE collaborations

Over the decades we have shared in successful projects with our MBE affiliates We have significantly much more to accomplish in adding more MBE partnerships and expanding our workforce diversity to accomplish our elevated mission to achieve exemplifying “A Company For All” that will reflect the same demographics and culture spectrum as that of the Greater Houston Area.

Our strong support for HUBs in the construction industry has resulted in large dividends for those companies with the quality, delivery, experience, and good credit to participate as partners with Tellepsen.
