My Chapter: Living In Duality “The question is how have you handled those moments when you realized that there is a duality to your life? What did you do when you found yourself feeding others but needing some “me” time as well? If we are honest with ourselves, we have learned to deal with life from different perspectives. It is like the superhero known as Batman, Bruce Wayne by day and Batman by night. We have to deal with our fears and fight for others as well. Most superheroes have something that they are fearful of or can cause them to be stifled. We have nouns, people, places, or things that will cause us to pause in life.

Those nouns that will have us living in the midst of duality, between what we have been called to do and those things that are our greatest fears. What is your fear? What is the thing that will cause you to reconsider where you are in life?”

Lilian Okech Lilian, refugee from South Sudan, was born in Uganda refugee camp where she lived for 15 years before coming to America. She started high school in the United States speaking no English and learning her ABCs as a ninth-grader. Lilian found herself pregnant and married at a young age. After living in an abusive relationship for ten years, she escaped that situation and found herself alone with four boys. Needing to support her family, she started cleaning at a local church. Soon, people noticed her dedication and started asking for her to clean their homes. Lilian was known for doing good work, and soon she had many clients.

Lilian realized that through cleaning, she was able to help people, which was her heart and passion. In 2018 Lilian founded Cleaning for Hope. Through Cleaning for

Hope, Lily strives to provide community support for those who may not have a friend to talk to. A family to run to. And for those who may need shelter, foods, clothes, bibles, and so much more – just like she did.

Lilian is a Motivational Speaker, Author, Teacher, Visionary.
