IN-HOUSE NEWSLETTER OF SUHAIL BAHWAN GROUP VOLUME 07 | ISSUE 25 APRIL/ SEPTEMBER 2020
FROM THE VICE CHAIRPERSON’S DESK Dear colleagues Welcome to another edition of Suhail- our SBGH family newsletter. Its well-known that since March 2020, the Covid-19 has had a calamitous impact across people’s lives and businesses - both in Oman and across the globe. The day-to-day life of an individual has completely changed; lockdowns, quarantines, self-isolations, physical distancing, masks and gloves and extra caution on personal hygiene have had a psychological stress on people. Designed & Published by Media and Communications Division Suhail Bahwan Group [Holding] LLC P.O. Box: 169, PC 100 Muscat, Sultanate of Oman Phone: +968 2465 0037 Email: pr@suhailbahwangroup.com
DISCLAIMER SUHAIL is an internal newsletter meant exclusively for SBGH employees. Although immense care has been taken, we request our readers to bear with us in case of any errors and omissions. Please send us your feedback, comments, contributions and suggestions to pr@suhailbahwangroup.com
On the work front, our workstyle has also vastly changed; work-from-home, virtual meetings and classes, online training and webminars are some of the new work practices that have come to stay now. As a responsible corporate business group, we have taken several proactive steps to protect our employees and keep our businesses running in tune with government guidance and rules. To understand and reflect on the impact of this pandemic and the experience of adapting to the new life and work culture, we have asked a cross section of employees from our Group companies to answer a set of five questions, which are featured in this issue. The Government of Oman has stepped in at the right time announcing various supportive measures for companies, especially the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), while providing effective medical care through testing and treatment of people with Corona virus symptoms. With our strong faith in Allah and prayers, I firmly believe this pandemic will soon fade away and our businesses will bounce back sooner than later. With best wishes

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES
Dear colleagues Its well-known now that Covid-19 has had a calamitous impact across people’s lives and businesses. While efforts are ongoing on war-footing to develop a vaccine, the day-to-day life of an individual has completely changed. Lockdowns, quarantines, self-isolations, work-from-home, virtual meetings, physical distancing, online shopping and personal hygiene are some of the new lifestyle practices that have come to stay now. To understand and reflect on the impact of this pandemic and the experience of adapting to the new life and work culture, we have asked a cross section of employees from our Group companies to answer a set of five questions.
CORONA DIARIES
This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? This continuous news about the pandemic has led to an increase in anxiety raising questions such as whether my loved ones will get sick? Will I be a reason to bring infection to another person? Will I lose my job? Such constant feeling of fear leading to distrust of strangers, social distancing and isolation may have other effects on our psychological state. The virus also affected our economic growth and global demand for oil, and therefore many commercial activities and projects were closed as a result of the weak overall demand and a debt crisis.
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five year period? The concept of electronic shopping among consumers will increase, and electronic commerce platforms will be activatedand we should be prepared.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? The quarantine experiment was a must to control the spread of the disease. However, it had negative effects as it reduced opportunities for communicating with families and friends.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? We have faced many difficulties during this period, but we were able to overcome them and adapt to the current situation. As for living, although Covid forced us to stay at, it provided more time to spend with family while it also had a negative impact such as not able to visit relatives and friends.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? I think the trend to media / digital commerce will increase significantly as the consumer will get what he wants without going to different places as is the case in traditional shopping.
Any Suggestions? I suggest that we should start right now training our sales staff on e-marketing, how to deal with customers online, answer their questions and meet their requirements promptly – all online and by phone calls.

This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? Yes, it has greatly affected our business, since our business is linked to the movement of people. However, we have developed standard operating procedures at multiple levels in tune with the Ministry of Tourism’s guidelines for those who want to rent a car. We have also introduced “Travel Safe Partner” initiative; a handpicked team of staff have been taught, trained, and equipped to ensure safe and hygienic on-ground engagement with customers following all safety measures.
CORONA DIARIES
Our workplace operating protocols have been revised such as introducing deep-cleaned vehicles, contactless car hires, transfers and small group travel itineraries From my personal perspective I am sure things will return to normal but with travelers will be more cautious.
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/ five-year period? The next one-year business will be slow compared to last year. But soon things will be better as people will have to travel for business or holiday and other purposes. So the trade will thrive again.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? It has taught me patience. I also learnt to cut down on expenses in luxuries and dispensing with unnecessary things.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? We have become more cautious in our living and working pattern. The teleworking style has become a great option to continue our work.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? I believe digital commerce will have a bigger share in the shopping market.
“We have become more cautious in living and working pattern. The teleworking style has become a great option to continue our work.

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? We have never seen before this kind of disease. Many persons lost their life and till now there is no cure or medicine for it. In the last few months there is less cargo coming except important foodstuffs and medicines and lifesaving equipment but the reduction is because of a global situation which is impacting us. Personally for me and my family, it was a challenging time as I was affected by Covid-19 in mild form but followed all the MoH procedures to quarantine and take rest. And thanks to Almighty I fully recovered. The Govt has done very good work to treat the affected persons and also to create awareness of the disease and how to be safe.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five year period? For the next 1-2 years the business will be on the lesser side. After that I expect the business to again do well with new markets opening up in Oman and other countries.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? This period for me & my family has been a learning experience that we can stay safe only if we stay home and not expose to the virus. I have learnt to be more calm and peaceful and to do more prayers and dua for all people worldwide and my fellow countrymen.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? This has taught us the importance of personal hygiene and be aware of the surrounding areas. Since going out is restricted, we’ve learnt to conserve food and not to waste anything since this is also a difficult time for business and economic situations.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? The current situation has made everybody aware of digital media and online shopping. Many essential items are delivered by online and this will continue as future as well. But in the long run also the shopping mall will remain as that is an outing for all people to take family and to enjoy the shopping experience. So in the coming days, both online and retail shopping will continue
“For the company, we must also adapt to the digital times by introducing more systems and going online model. This will create more efficient organization to deal with the future requirements.

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES
This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? The world understood that IT is the redeemer for business houses and IT kept the world alive and connected be it be food Industries, Logistics, Health care, Media, Retail and even religious communities. This pandemic had created new business opportunities as we could meet customers easily (through e-meetings) than the one on one meetings. Personally it taught us to listen and adhere to the advice of the government in this pandemic to take care of our life and others.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five year period? The life for the next five years will be different - fully digital and robotic world. IT will play a major role in our everyday world much more than now.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? We got time to spend with family and do so many things together with family, we got time know each other’s thoughts closely. We filled the space and gaps within the family. The lockdown has taught us how to spend judiciously and save for future.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? Our workstyle has drastically changed. We started working from home, which is a new experience. We learnt to working remotely and meeting virtually using new technologies, which we never thought about earlier.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Yes digital commerce will continue and will prefer traditional shopping. The future belongs to digital technology and sooner or later people will embrace digital technology in some form or other.
“The life for the next five years will be different - fully digital and a robotic world. IT will play a major role in our everyday world much more than now.

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? There is no doubt that the situation before covid- 19 is going to be the same after. We lost a lot of people and we may lose many, many more in the coming time. The economies of large countries collapsed. The pandemic has been affected small and medium enterprise owners and even major companies had reduced their branches, and some were closed due to lack of sales and its impact on global markets and air, land and maritime embargoes.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five-year period? In my view, this pandemic will last long because the discovery of the vaccine requires long laboratory experiences of at least 3 years.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? We learned a lot of lessons from this pandemic; We learned that health is the most important thing in existence. Be prepared for any financial shock or disaster. Should have another and alternative business plan that protects you and protects your employees from any harm. You must have a financial reserve for your company and home for the next 6 months after the crisis.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? We are in the fourth industrial revolution, and we have headed for the digital government. Covid- 19 learned that distance education is successful and possible, and remote work is successful.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Digital commerce is the secret of every project’s success. Now everyone is shopping and doing their business through digital media. Evolution is required.
“I suggest establishing electronic
platforms and outlets for sale. Also, put lot of advertisements for the company on social media. The company should create an electronic platform for selling tickets and displays all its offers, and save effort and money.

This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? Looking at it from Business Perspective, the situation has taught us a lesson of endurance, sustenance and the skills to survive in business with effective technology. This pandemic had created new business opportunities as we could meet customers easily (through e-meetings) than the one on one meetings. From personal perspective – this situation opened up a great opportunity to understand our family much better and respect their time at home. I also understood that human life is so valuable that everyone is responsible for others life as well.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five year period? I feel that the current situation is just a space given for an overhaul. As the customers have seen new methods of tolerance and acceptance during this situation the business houses will add a lot of value to their customers and there will be a great focus in quality offering across the industries. We can see the spread of knowledge and acceptance of the new digital world which will open up great opportunities to all the business.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? Value your and others life, respect the source of livelihood.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? To be more innovative, adopt to new technologies, optimize work time, quality enhancements both professionally and personally.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Yes, but the new digital adoption will explode opportunities for the SMART BUSINESS minds.
Any other suggestions? The situation will change for sure, but had opened up great opportunities to those who sustained and perceive for excellence.
“The market is going to bounce back soon as the industries will learn to live with the NEW NORMAL and become more innovative – this gives a very positive energy to all those who are in business.

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? In the recent weeks, we have seen significant economic impact of the coronavirus on financial markets and vulnerable Industries. Many projects have either been shelved or postponed. This is a major setback for BPT’s further progress and a challenge to meet the budgeted figures for 2020 and also carry forward orders for 2021. However, BPT has fortunately booked some large orders in the past and also bagged some orders from Omantel and Ooredoo etc, and so we are able to continue to perform and execute the projects continuously during these difficult period. Personally I am facing the situation bravely and trusting the will of God Almighty (Allah) to prevail. He is the sole owner and deciding factor for human being as preached by Holy Quran. With this strength and hope I am leading my family life with my dear and loved ones.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five year period? The coronavirus is global and economies are in free fall. The overall effect can be seen all over and every spear of life and economy. The pandemic has created a supply shock as business have shut down and workers have been told to stay at home and there is shortage of cash flow everywhere. It might take long years for economy to recover globally. Hence Oman economy will also suffer the same way the other GCC countries are suffering. There may be hardship for people for few more years. However as per nature’s law whatever has gone down will come up. We pary and hope that the economy should pick up faster and the people’s livelihood is secured.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? While companies work to keep work from home strategies in place, most people find themselves idle and bored with more time on their handsI made of this time during lockdown to reading books, develop my skit set, exercise, etc inside the house and within the compound wall. Of course I spent more valuable time with my dear wife and children. This lockdown has brought the family closer; otherwise all family members were busy in their own studies, cooking, business, etc. Overall the time has been utilized for the best and fullest satisfaction of the life to live.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? Even though the acute threat of COVID-19 will pass, things will not return completely to normal affecting our lifestyle and financial choices for every generation. COVID-19 is forcing people to online shopping that will continue after the pandemic passes as they will be won over by the convenience, quality and, for some, necessity of these businesses. I will be more attentive, cautious and avoid unnecessary mixing with the people to be safe for self and for the sake of family members. At the work front we switched to virtual meetings through video conferencing, using masks, cleaning hands and sanitizing etc.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Agree that Covid 19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce. May be this change will continue for future as it has now become a necessity. However, this change will come gradually as many are not equipped with such a digitization and some cases it is recommended that traditional shopping model to be continued as it gives you socialization, exercise and physical activity to be active.

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES
This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? Businesswise the Pandemic has not impacted our business. BLL was already preparing for the Chinese new year festival holidays well before the Pandemic could strike here. Our emergency protocols were in place and our people were ready for the worst. Thus in spite of lockdowns all over the world, logistics kept going on.
CORONA DIARIES
From a personal perspective, however, the lockdown has been very harsh. Families have been forcibly separated and have been locked in their homes. No get-togethers, parties or even having a meal together at a restaurant.
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five year period? Today we are at a stage where we don’t even know when this Pandemic will end but Mother nature has a way of healing herself. However, it will take at least a year if not more to come back to a semblance of what it was before Covid-19. Human beings are an adaptive species and we will find the right answer very soon. It might be a miracle drug, it might be a vaccine or it might be herd immunity. We have beaten Measles ,we have beaten small pox , rabies ,polio ,Tuberculosis etc .etc. We will beat this too. But the road to recovery might take 2 to 5 years.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? It has taught me to be cautious. It has also taught me that if you are prepared you can overcome any eventuality. It has also taught me that knee jerk reactions only cause more distress. And finally “Fate” plays a bigger role in life than I was willing to acknowledge previously. In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? There has not been any significant change in my work life or style due to Covid-19. However, I have become a good cook and learnt how to wash clothes, iron clothes, do household chores and this has given me a different perspective of my family and how much I miss them.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? In my book both will co-exist e.g. traditional shopping is not only to verify size, fit, quality, color etc but also the sheer physical pleasure of touch and feel. out there in the world. E-commerce or digital marketing cannot give any of the aforementioned. Covid-19 has taught the world that nobody likes to sit at home and do nothing.

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? The Covid 19 is a test for our societies. It forced us to change habits and free movement and caused damage to health, economic and financial systems in most of the countries of the world. On the commercial side: We at Bahwan Logistics had a minimal impact in providing services to clients as essential logistics activity were allowed while the local markets were closed in the Sultanate. On the personal side: fear and extreme caution caused tension in relationships and isolation from the fabric of society.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/fiveyear period? It is not possible to guess of the future events due to its rapid spread in the local community and the lack of a vaccine for the virus.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? The period of quarantine gave me a lot of space to meditate and think of my daily life. I realized that freedom is one of the valuable blessings from God Almighty upon us. Accepting the reality with its sweetness and bitterness and learning to live and coexist with others and its helped me to alleviate the pain of loneliness. There is no “impossible” because man is God’s greatest creature. He can adapt and live with the necessities of future life with his professionalism.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? The Covid- 19 caused severe economic and financial impact across the world, leaving no room for change and modernization, as the old method has gone astray. I have reralised that a new way of working and living is a must post-covid.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Of course traditional shopping will continue. Traditional shopping has its own characteristic that surpasses all other marketing models - the clarity, toch and feel of the commodity. Also the lack of knowledge of modern electronic transactions will make electronic shopping slow.
“ We must adapt to face such situation with its new approaches and values .We should develop realistic and effective plans

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES
This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? There is no doubt that the Covid 19 pandemic affected both human beings and business. We have faced many difficulties and challenges, especially with international companies with whom we deal with due to the closure of airports and the stopping of air freight. As a sales team, we have distributed work and followed up our client’s requests, orders and payments. Some have faced difficulty due to the closure of the Governorate of Muscat unable to reach some customers. However we reached our customers through social media to deliver medicines to all private pharmacies.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five year period? In the absence of a vaccine as of now, the situation will continue for not less than a year. So we must continue to work to meet their requirement and keep pace with the situation to maintain our lives and coexist with these conditions. Our group must continue and diversify the business and explore new companies, especially in health and pharmaceutical sectors.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? The lockdown and quarantine taught me self-reliance, reducing costs and working hard, setting our priorities and goals, and continuing to work and find the best. In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? Covid-19 has changed our work culture and made us to think of the future with all wisdom and rationality. It has also taught to be careful during such pandemic aand to adapt to the conditions around us. This has also helped us to learn how to deal with individuals and companies positively and wisely and continue to provide them with the best services possible.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? There is no doubt that Covid- 19 has triggered social and digital media. We must search for the best means that allow us to deal smoothly and wisely for the advancement and excellence and raise the name of the company high. We should make dedicated efforts for a better future for the group.

This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? From business perspective the service sector was not being able to provide proper service. It has disrupted the supply chain of products and services. There is a significant slow down in the revenue growth affecting the cash flow in the market From personal perspective social distancing with our peers and family members has become a norm though it was difficult. The closure of entertainment such as movie theatres, malls, sports clubs, gymnasiums, swimming pools, and so on has created significant knock-on effects on the daily life of citizens
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five-year period? Airports will be less crowded which is not such a good news for many in the next one year. Luxury hotels may become cheaper. We believe that there will be a rebound of domestic travel first. However, after few years, travelling will become normal like pre-covid, however, people will be more cautious.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? The lock down made me realize the importance of the freedom I had and taught me the importance of financial prudence to buy things only when I need and not when I want. Also is has provided a strength to face a new life.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? COVID-19 changed the world of work for good. Employers will become more flexible about working from home.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Digital media has provided companies with the ability to share information and allowed the modern consumer the ability to gather information in a way that is tailored to them. On the other hand, digital media gives users the ability to customize and filter news feeds whilst also interacting with people with similar interests.

This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? The impact is deterioration of economy caused by the Corona virus. From my personal perspective it has severely restricted our visits between family and relatives, and the effect on the study of our children and our lives in general.
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five year period?
CORONA DIARIES
We have learned a lot and changed the course to keep up with reality. We also benefitted a lot and we hope to change for a better future.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? Many things have changed our lifestyle, we started dealing with technology more; we increased our confidence to deal remotely as if we were in the office. This is what will be in future according to my expectation. Praise be to God, everyone succeeded, and our life will be linked to the advantages of technology.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? I have become more responsible, Almost 95% of my daily transactions are through the Internet, and I have become faster than before.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Digital transactions will continue and in the near future all transactions will be electronic because people have become more confident in them after the pandemic.
Any other suggestions? According to my expectations, Bahwan IT will be a forerunner of the digital movement in the Sultanate and we have many ideas that we will present to the Omani market

This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? From business perspective our orders did not get affected. However, we lost three weeks of production due to lockdown at the labour accommodation. On a personal front it was regular work days with extra emphasis having to implement and monitor safe distancing, work place ethics and PPE for all staffs to ensure safety.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/fiveyear period? As of now our enquiry levels and order levels have not yet reduced. However, in the short run we may have a slight drop in enquiries and orders. But we are confident that due to the economic package declared by Oman Government the businesses will be back to regular volume from 2021 and beyond.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? Lock down has taught us not to take things for granted and unexpected developments may occur for which we will be ill prepared. We need to be ready for any eventualities in future.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? Meeting delivery commitments to customers within the parameters of safe working conditions at work place and sites are challenging and lots of planning goes into each activity. As far as living is concerned we have come to a situation where we go out after work or on weekends only in absolutely necessary situations.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Ecommerce is here to stay. People are getting services and products delivered in the safe environments of their home or offices. However, I am sure that once the situation eases, we will see increased activities in traditional shopping who are more comfortable feeling and choosing products.
Any other suggestions? Hope and pray that the pandemic situation will come to an end soon so that we return to our normal life. Until such time we will have to live with the “new normal” life.

This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? There was a shift in business growth patterns with pharma and lab sales surging while dental, surgical, medical equipment & clinic business on a downward trend. BHC ensured to keep all our operations on during lockdown despite there were issues of sea & air cargos shipment and lockdown restrictions.
CORONA DIARIES
Personally, COVID -19 has taught us health matters; only those with strong immunity and in good health could win the battle even if they are affected.
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/fiveyear period? Post-Corona, we see pharma & lab business gaining momentum. We are focusing on lab business in the COVID 19 testing area which is a high volume and high margin business. Online consultation & Online pharmacies is the new normal now. For next five years, healthcare will exhibit its normal growth as its considered a recession proof industry. There will be a change in growth patterns of individual business segments.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? Picking up from the book ‘Who Moved My Cheese’ , we need to be Sniff to smell the change and Scurry who acts fast to adapt to change if we want to survive. Hems, who are resistant to change are bound to perish.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? Masks and sanitizers have become yet another musts of life. Hugs & handshakes have been replaced with salaam & wave. Now I am witnessing online zoom celebrations and social programmes. We started capitalizing technology at our work, be it a virtual meeting, social and digital media communication.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? I see a hybrid model. Shopping still is a form of entertainment so the physical stores will exist. The digital media is enhancing physical stores experience. However, in long run, acceptance of digital media will go up and e commerce is bound to rule the future.
Any other suggestions? It is said that when storm is there, the pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails. Hems who are resistant to change thinking the things will be back to normal are bound to perish. Welcome to the era, its AC (After Covid -19), learn to live with it.

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? Covid- 19 affected my personal life as I became more cautious and strict in terms of health safety and maintaining and protecting my family more than ever before. On the practical level, however, Covid- 19 affected the management of my life in dealing and coexisting with society as it changed to take care, caution and follow preventive health and safety measures.
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five-year period? After a pandemic, may be in the first year of coexistence, we will be dealing with caution and prevention while developing a practical plan for future to face such situation. As for later years, it will be a reconsideration of how to deal and coexist with such a pandemic and educate the family and society in order to live with least requirement and reduce human losses.
CORONA DIARIES
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? The experience of lockdown in the initial stage to control the spread of virus is very unique. The quarantine is a lesson for a healthy community culture on how to prevent a disease. It was also a very difficult stage for the individual and society in general.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? Covid has affected negatively the work style, as it reduced the course of work and performance level. It has also negatively affected the psychological side personally and at community level in general.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? There may not be a total shift to electronic shopping, because traditional shopping is necessary as well. However electronic shopping facilitates, reduces and contributes to limiting the spread of this disease.
Any other suggestions? I suggest an integrated system is prepared to deal with such situations in future that addresses health, natural disasters and other multiple risks. The system should prepare them early in addition to educating the community to coexist in such health conditions without imposing restrictions that hinder the economic structure of the country.

This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? Covid-19 has affected so many entities and individuals across the globe. Many have lost their business and loved ones in a blink of an eye. In my personal perspective it taught me to be strong, to take more precautions and stay safe for both my loved ones and I.
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/fiveyear period?
CORONA DIARIES
So many CEO’s are faced with challenges as they try to navigate the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic. They have started prioritizing supporting their people, customers, and suppliers.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? Lockdown is not a punishment for those who are wondering, it has actually provided strength for a new life. At the beginning I was annoyed and depressed but over a period of time, it taught to be strong and have patience. I started working out more often, spent more time with my parents initially, I stared taking care of my health and my stress level dropped down. I remained calm and positive throughout it all.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? It made working from home way easier and accessible. You could see how people became more productive. One of the main advantages was the physical distance between employees. Thus, it helped with saving money on office rents. Our mobility has become restricted, reduced cars or walks for few kilometers around the area. The lockdown has also affected our experiences of time.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Traditional media has to stay but will be in a controlled manner. Many consumers have been shopping online after the pandemic situation. This has created a new wave of digital customers; a lot will continue shopping online even after the pandemic ends.

SUHAIL | CORONA DIARIES This is the first time that a pandemic of this kind has affected the human kind. How has this impacted you both from business perspective and personal perspective? While this pandemic may be the first of its kind that has hit the human kind but this is not the first. History tells us several such events but those who survived tend to forget and take things for granted. I am a positive person and believe that when you do not have an instant solution, increase your effort & positivity to so that the problem is unable to ride over you. For business, I used this opportunity to forecast the likely impacts of the lockdown resulting from this pandemic & started looking for the solutions to overcome these challenges with maturity. On personal front, I realized the importance of constant need to respect the nature. This pandemic also gave me a great opportunity to revive few of my long lost contacts which were lost on account of our too busy schedules before the pandemic.
CORONA DIARIES
How do you see the post-Corona business scenario in the next one/two/five-year period? Events like Corona shake every business and individual; each of us become more cost conscious. It also tests the Darwin’s theory of ‘survival of the fittest’. As a result, at the end of every such event, the overall efficiency of the business improves. We at SBGH will definitely be back on track within next 6-8 months with greater profitability, as by then all weak & short term business players will die their natural death.
What has the lockdown/quarantine experience taught you? The first lesson is that while certain things have to be left to the almighty, the sincere effort to come out of these situations must continue. Another important lesson is to ‘Respect the Nature’. Nature is permanent and we are only temporary residents and thus we should not temper with nature beyond a point.
In what ways Covid-19 has changed your style of working and living? During Covid’19 I became more health conscious and realized that we could be much healthier if we avoid outside (junk food). The introduction of Google Meet, Microsoft Team & Zoom to our work life has in fact brought us closer to our peers and partners as we are now able to meet larger audience during the same time. This has definitely resulted into faster & better decision making process.
Covid-19 has pushed people from traditional media to digital media/ digital commerce- Do you agree or will the traditional shopping model will continue? Yes, both digital media & digital commerce are here to stay and will definitely scale to higher levels in the days, months and years to come.
Any other suggestions? While we have lot of talented people in our organization, we don’t have a platform to use this talent for the benefit of SBGH family at large. Let us have one platform wherein we may create user groups with common interest say ‘Yoga User Group’, ‘IT Skills User Group’ & the like where this talent can be showcased & used to train/ benefit other members of SBGH family.

CT is a computerized x-ray imaging procedure in which a narrow beam of x-rays is aimed at a patient and quickly rotated around the body, producing signals that are processed by the machine’s computer to generate cross-sectional images—or “slices”—of the body. These slices are called tomographic images and contain more detailed information than conventional x-rays. Once a number of successive slices are collected by the machine’s computer, they can be digitally “stacked” together to form a three-dimensional image of the patient that allows for easier identification and location of basic structures as well as possible tumors or abnormalities.

Embracing Change. Bahwan Tourism’s Strategic The Covid-19 pandemic has been a particularly challenging time for the travel sector globally. And Oman is no exception. While borders closed, skies became empty and travellers forced to stay indoors, one of Oman’s largest and oldest travel players, Bahwan Tourism, used the last three months to study and evaluate several aspects of future travel, thereby preparing for the sea change that the travel industry is going to witness. Bahwan Tourism recognises reinstating traveller confidence as a priority area. The management team has been actively working with the Ministry of Tourism through several webminars and online meetings discussing newer ways of welcoming guests and implementing methods that provide enhanced safety to not just incoming global travellers, but also to its citizens and residents alike. A strategic approach towards embracing these changes has enabled us to come up with several ideas. One of them is the development of standard operating procedures at multiple levels in tune with the Ministry of Tourism’s guidelines, which is leading this initiative. Second one is the introduction of “Travel Safe Partner” initiative; a hand-picked team of staff have been taught, trained, and equipped to ensure safe and hygienic on-ground engagement with customers following all safety measures. Revised operating protocols at workplace such as introducing deep-cleaned vehicles, contactless car hires, transfers and small group travel itineraries. Communication across the brand’s social media channels - Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and Twitter, have been streamlined to deliver the message of ‘travelling safe’ as well as towards driving revenues in a limited business environment. The brand believes in consistently communicating with its partners, customers, and stakeholders to strengthen relationships and withstand business continuity. Bahwan Tourism has left no stone unturned to ensure its customers’ safety in the post-corona travel culture. All these initiatives are testament to Bahwan Tourism’s readiness to start planning adventures, booking vacations and help customers experience a stress-free travel whether its business or pleasure or a family vacation. The desire to travel shall soon be fuelled by the restart of good times and Bahwan Tourism is ready and waiting to welcome guests in the upcoming peak tourist season.
