of the Month Jebel Misht - Ibri
Jebel Misht (‹Comb Mountain›) is one of the mountain peaks in the Hajar Mountains reserved for the avid trek enthusiasts. Located in the Wilayat of Ibri, the 2090 meters’ high mountain is the tallest natural vertical mountain wall in the Sultanate of Oman. With its serrated teeth, the striking rock is one of Oman›s so-called ‘exotics’ – a limestone mass that is out of sequence with the surrounding geology. Its near vertical sides make it a favourite among rock climbers hikers and adventure enthusiasts from around the world especially during winter due to the cool weather. The magical colour of the mountain at sunset is a sight to behold. Visitors can reach Jebel Misht in about three and half hours by road from Muscat International Airport. Nearest town is Ibri. GPS coordinates: 23.1971532,56.6029492
