Specialist dementia care and staff We offer rest home-level dementia care (level three) delivered by trained and dedicated staff.

At Summerset, care is at the heart of everything we do. Our specially trained staff are carefully selected and receive regular training to ensure their ongoing development. This helps us to provide the best possible care for our residents. We look after each resident’s day-to-day health and support them with any long-term health issues. We constantly monitor their care needs and create individual activity and care plans. Our staff work closely with residents and their families alike, helping support them through the changes they will be experiencing. This includes speaking with family members before a resident moves into the centre. This is so we understand what food, activities and routines they like, and for families to visit the centre and have a look around. Once settled, we’ll hold regular resident and family meetings to update and review the resident’s care needs. The memory care centre is led by a registered health professional with knowledge, expertise and passion for caring for people living with dementia. As residents can sometimes get confused or anxious, our caregivers and nurses focus on understanding the resident’s world and work with them to find what settles them. Our qualified diversional therapists prepare a range of daily and individual activities to help build both a sense of community and ongoing personal development for every one of our residents.
