Stay Home, Stay Safe by Bonifrank Lorenzo

It has been 3 long months since the covid-19 pandemic took Tokyo by its cruel claws. Kaya pa ba natin, mga bes? Kaya yan! Basta konting relaks lang, konting chill, at malalagpasan din natin ito.

Totoong mabagsik ang epekto sa ating lahat - financially, mentally, emotionally. And we know this pandemic could stay with us for a long time. So here are some simple tips on how to have a healthy disposition during these challenging times.

Netflix & chill

I am lucky to be able to work-from-home during this pandemic. But still, nakaka-stress pa rin. And what better way to “escape” the stress than to watch movies! Lots & lots of them! For less than 1,000 yen a month, Netflix is literally a precious treasure box of ENTERTAINMENT that we all need. Recommendations: “Crash Landing On You” (duh... I’m sure napanood nyo na ‘to!), “Itaewon Class”, “Hollywood”, “History 101”. Siempre meron ding Pinoy blockbusters like KathNiel, LizQuen and a lot more.

Bike pa more

Sarado ang mga gym so I had to find another way to exercise & stay fit. Nag-decide ako bumili ng... bisikleta! Para makapag-exercise at para na rin makapag-gala kapag walang trabaho. I bought a Hummer bike with 20-inch wheels. It’s a little pricey at JPY 30,000 pero it is foldable & very light, so I guess it’s worth the price. I now bike 5X a week, around my neighborhood. Eksakto naman at ang ganda na ng weather ngayon, kaya KIMOCHIII ang pakiramdam. If you still don’t have a bike and you can afford to get one, I strongly recommend it. Biking will not only bring you to places you want to go, but it could lead you to new discoveries, new places, new experiences. Basta pedal lang nang pedal.

Cooking

Nung unang 2 linggo ng SOE (state of emergency), araw araw ako nagpa-deliver sa Uber Eats. I’m sure kayo rin!

Pero nakakasawa rin pala ang laging fast food & pizza, diba mga bes? And very expensive! So I decided to bring out the “inner cook” in me, went to my nearest Ito-Yokado grocery and started cooking. Started with the easy ones like pork sinigang (buti na lang hindi pa expired ang sinigang mix ko), chicken afritada, and chicken nilaga. Sa tulong ni GOOGLE, I was able to find more recipes and expand my culinary repertoire. Marunong na ako mag chicken curry, chicken with broccoli and chicken... uhm, ok you get the idea.
