August 30 th marks our

19 th Birthday

It is hard to believe that 19 years ago we were preparing to introduce Sunset Gourmet in Canada with just 17 products. We have had many changes over the years, change is inevitable and will always be important to our success. Embracing change allows us to evolve as a company. One thing that has not changed

and will not change is our appreciation and gratitude for our Sunset Gourmet family of Consultants. We are so thankful to all of our Consultants and Customers who started on this journey with us, and we have loved welcoming everyone who has joined Sunset Gourmet along the way. We can all be proud of the role each of us has played in introducing Sunset Gourmet right across Canada. The memories of our journey bring a whole range of emotions, what we feel mostly is deep gratitude. Gratitude to our Sunset Family and our Customers. We sincerely thank each of you for continuing to believe in the Sunset Gourmet brand and embrace the culture of caring that we continue to build on. Celebrating family, friends and great food is what we are all about. As we celebrate another birthday we continue our dream of offering the opportunity for people to flourish and build a business to call their very own. We thank all of you for helping us create our past and building our FUTURE.

Summer’s Bounty

August is the height of summer, and many vegetables like cucumbers, peppers and carrots are at their freshest and most flavourful, making it an ideal time to pickle them. Pickled vegetables can enhance a variety of dishes, adding a tangy, crunchy element to salads, sandwiches, and so much more.

Food

Fresh Picks SUMMER’S

Fresh and Fun Quick Pickles & Salads

Nothing can compare to the “fresh taste of summer”. Embrace the abundance of the fresh crisp vegetables that are available at markets this time of the year or pick your own if you are lucky enough to have a garden. Let your imagination run wild as you walk through the aisles of fresh vegetables and think about what you are going to pickle with our In A Snap 10 Minute Quick Pickle

Kit. Summer’s bounty of fresh, seasonal produce can also be transformed into delicious and vibrant salads. An easy weeknight meal that keeps your home cool on hot summer days!

Dress up your burgers (Smoky Sweet Beef Burgers from our Burger Box shown here) with sliced pickled cucumbers made with our Sweet & Tangy Pickle Mix. Pair it with fresh corn on the cob and a side salad.

Sunset Candied Jalapenos, recipe on next page.

SunsetCandied Jalapenos

Thank you Lillian Bellon (ON) for sharing this recipe and photo!

• 4 cups jalapenos, cut in ¼" slices

• 1 pack of Sweet & Tangy Pickling Mix

• 1 cup apple cider vinegar

• 1 cup water

• ½ cup brown sugar

• 2 mason jars, pint size (2 cups)

Fill mason jars with sliced jalapenos. Combine pickling mix, vinegar, water, and brown sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Once the mixture starts boiling, reduce the temperature to medium-low and allow the mixture to simmer for an additional 5 minutes to slightly thicken. Pour mixture over jalapenos in jars and cool. Once cooled, refrigerate and enjoy this spicy-sweet condiment for a few weeks!

Rhubarb Pickles

Thank you Shelley Poitras (AB) for sharing this recipe and photo!

• Fresh red rhubarb, cut into slices

Pickled Smokies in a Snap

Thank you Cindee Danielson (SK) for this recipe and photo!

• 1 packet Dilly-Licious Pickling Mix (follow instructions on the box to make the brine)

• 2.2 lbs. (1 kg.) smokies

• 2 small onions, sliced

Boil the smokies in water for 5 minutes. When done, cut the smokies into slices and place in 2 quart jars with sliced onions. Pour hot brine over and seal. Cool, refrigerate, and enjoy!

• 1 packet Sweet & Tangy Pickling Mix (follow instructions on the box to make the brine)

Pick, wash and slice several stalks of rhubarb; put them into jars. Pour hot brine over and let cool. Seal, refrigerate, and enjoy! Tastes great on a burger! You can shred the pickles, add a small shake of cinnamon and they are an amazing condiment with pork roast.

This is one of the most stunning summer salads you’ll ever see!

The ingredients are arranged in a clear glass or trifle bowl, showcasing the colourful layers. It’s an ideal side dish for picnics or barbecues! Have fun and change the order of the layers each time you make it to create a different look. You can add sliced or quartered hard-boiled eggs for an additional layer, if desired.

Layered Salad

• 4 cups iceberg lettuce, chopped

• 2 stalks celery, thinly sliced

• 1 small red onion, finely diced

• 7-10 cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered and seeded

• ¾ cup sliced water chestnuts

• 1 ¼ cups frozen peas, thawed

• ¾ cup old cheddar cheese, shredded

• 12 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Dressing

• 1 packet Dilly-Licious Dill Pickle Dip Mix

• 1 cup mayonnaise

• 1 cup sour cream

Place lettuce in a large glass bowl; top with layers of celery, red onion, cherry tomato pieces, water chestnuts and peas. Mix

Dilly-Licious Dill Pickle Dip Mix with mayonnaise and sour cream. Spread over peas, completely covering the top of the salad and sealing to the edge of the bowl. Sprinkle with cheese and bacon. Refrigerate for 6-12 hours to blend flavours. Toss before serving, if desired.

Sunset Wedge Salad

• ½ packet Asiago Cheese & Spinach Dip Mix

• ¼ cup mayonnaise

• ¼ cup sour cream

• 1/3 cup milk or buttermilk

• 1 head iceberg lettuce

• ½ small red onion, sliced

• 2 green onions, cut into 2" pieces

• 1 cup feta or blue cheese, crumbled

• 6 strips of bacon, fully cooked & chopped

• Cherry tomatoes, quartered

Combine the first four ingredients to make the salad dressing and refrigerate for an hour or longer. Cut lettuce into wedges and place on individual salad plates. Drizzle dressing over lettuce wedges then top with remaining ingredients.

A Wedge of History

Marion Harris Neil’s 1916 cookbook, “Salads, Sandwiches and Chafing Dish Recipes”, offered the first printed version of a recipe for iceberg wedge salad. In the 1970s the wedge salad regained popularity in steakhouse restaurants. Today wedge salads are enjoyed at home as a side or an entrée.

Another great salad dressing is...

Garden Vegetable Dressing

• ¾ cup mayonnaise

• ¾ cup low-fat buttermilk

• Black pepper, to taste

• 1 packet Garden Vegetable Dip & Cheeseball Mix

Combine ingredients; whisk to blend. Chill 2 hours and serve over your salad creation.

Knowledge College

The most valuable thing you can make is a mistake . You can’t learn anything from being perfect .
- Adam Osbourne
D O N E is better than P E R F E C T
TAKING IMPERFECT

ACTION

IS BETTER THAN DOING NOTHING

Have you ever scrolled through your Instagram or Facebook feed and felt like someone punched you in the gut?

You see a girlfriend’s fall family photos — her hair is looking fab, her family is all in coordinating plaid outfits, and geez, has she lost weight?

Then you see another friend who just got that job promotion. And what’s with your sister’s new house? It’s absolutely spotless and... perfect.

It all makes you feel like you need to step up your game, and fast.

Everything you have is old, outdated, and crummy. After all, literally EVERYONE else is feeding their family organic, home-cooked meals that have a perfect macro ratio.

And they only shop with brands that are eco-friendly and support women-owned businesses. Plus, they look amazing while doing it. Meanwhile, here you are, barely able to heat up a frozen pizza from Wal-mart for dinner tonight.

Can we get real here for a second?

These perfectly curated, picture-perfect lives aren’t REAL. Not even a little bit.

And the pursuit of perfection? It’s holding you back. Because guess what?

PERFECT DOES NOT EXIST.

It never has and it never will .

Life is not meant to be lived as a series of perfectly tended to-do-lists.

You’re not meant to squeeze out every single ounce of productivity of every single minute of the day — all while rocking 3" heels and a perfect blowout.

Life is what happens in between those Instagram-worthy moments. In the messy middle. When you’ve plucked up the courage to just TRY something, no matter if the end result is perfect or absolute garbage. When your goal is perfection, you’ll always fail — and this is what stops so many of us from trying.

Be OK with getting it wrong. Just keep getting it wrong until you get it right.
- Eric Johnson
If you ’ re not making some notable mistakes along the way, you ’ re certainly not taking enough business and career chances.
- Sallie Krawcheck

If perfect is what you want all the time, you will lose because you are never going to get it.

And that’s what’s holding you back

.

From starting that business. Or trying an exercise program. Or writing that email to that friend you lost touch with years ago.

There’s one thing we know for sure...

DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT, AND IMPERFECT ACTION BEATS PERFECT INACTION EVERY TIME.

Don’t ever, ever let the pressure of this seemingly perfect world stop you from trying.

Don’t let that fear stop you from stepping out of your comfort zone.

And don’t you dare stop yourself from chasing what’s meant for you because you’re afraid you’ll look silly or you won’t be perfect the first time around.

We need more authenticity in this world... and women and men who aren’t afraid to show their failures and their scars.

When we strive for perfection, we allow the systems that oppress us to win.

We are not made to be looked at and judged. We are not meant to compete with one another.

We are made to thrive ... imperfections

and all.

our

June Consultant Incentive selling the most Burger Boxes and Freezer Meal Kits! We

asked Cindy

about her success...

I was so happy to hear that I had won the June Consultant Incentive. I’ll have to really thank all my customers for

their support, but especially my niece who decided to have a Burger Box party at the last minute. She had 6 guests and everyone had a great time and thought it was super easy! I love the convenience of our Freezer Meal Kits and the Burger Boxes; both are so easy to prepare and are delicious. I did a couple of Freezer Meal Workshops and my Customers love the meals and even more so, the convenience. One of my customer’s husbands told her “in fun” she had way too much Sunset Gourmet in her cupboard. Now that he has been enjoying the meals, he is asking, “What else can we do with these products?”.

Here are a couple of great comments I had from Customers on my Facebook page recently: “I had the opportunity to take part in the Burger Box with Cindy. It was a ton of fun and the burgers are amazing! I would definitely recommend this to anyone and I will definitely be taking part in this again.”

”Cindy, I just wanted to let you know how much I am (and have) enjoyed the Freezer Meal Workshop meals! Everything has been so good, that I’ve even made a couple of items a second time! I also love the spices I have left over and use them regularly. Thank you!”

Cindy M

We have many consultants who worked hard for this incentive, and all are to be congratulated! I am very proud of all my team members who earned the varying levels. Thank you to Sunset Gourmet for offering the different incentives for all of us to achieve! Hope everyone has a great summer!

This is your first taste of leadership with Sunset Gourmet and we are so proud of your accomplishment and look forward to celebrating many more with you. Way to go Gloria, Lacey and Sylvia!

YOU’VE SPONSORED AND BECOME A LEADER... NOW WHAT?

As a Leader, you will be looked to for support, encouragement, knowledge, coaching, and inspiration. Aim to be the mentor you yourself would like to have. Great leaders are also great Consultants, leading by example with their own personal business. The best way to build your team, teach your team, and continue to support your team is to INSPIRE them! Even if you are fearful yourself, you must push through that fear for your team. The payoff is tremendous. A Leader is only as successful as the team they lead. If your genuine goal is to teach and help others succeed, in turn, you will succeed. Change your focus from “What’s in it for me” to “How can I help my team achieve their dreams”. Leadership is so very rewarding! The more success your team achieves, the more successful you become. ❤

Stacey joined in May 2024 and had sales of $5058 in June!

We asked Stacey about his success... This has been a fun adventure and it’s been great to see the reception to the product. I have been helping my wife with her business at markets for the last year. At one market we set up beside a Sunset Gourmet vendor Carol Volk, who is now my upline. I liked the concept of sampling and the business as well as the extra income. I have been doing markets for the last 6 weeks and I’m starting to see repeat business on the web site. I love building relationships with the customers. I have been getting great support from Carol, Carrie as well as Home Office. Thank you for the opportunity, I’m excited to watch the continued growth.

Customer Care:

Make it a habit to show the love!

At least every other month, you should contact your Customers to find out how you can serve them. Begin by asking how they are enjoying the products they purchased. In the following months, begin to offer them other products they may be interested in and see if it’s time to restock.

At least twice a year, offer them the opportunity to earn free or discounted products by hosting a fun party for their friends. You also want to be offering them the convenience of our Freezer Meal Program. Imagine how your business could flourish if you called every person who has purchased from you and offered our Freezer Meal Program!

“I offer a service that I am not sure I have shared with you before and I want to make sure you aren’t missing out. After a busy day at work sometimes the last thing we want to think about is what we are making for dinner. Our Customers love the convenience of our Freezer Meal Program.”

It is so important to show your Customers you care. When you do, they will continue to support your business and might be your next Host or even your next team member.
