COMPLETE RECONSTRUCTION FOR CAMPOAMOR’S LA GLEA BEACH
Out of work Figures recorded at the end of last month have revealed that a total of 7,008 people were registered as unemployed and looking for work in Torrevieja. This figure is 9.7% more than in August, which finished with 6,389 people out of work, and ties in with the end of the summer season. The sector most affected is the services
Councillor for Infrastructure at the town hall of Orihuela, Ángel Noguera, has announced that the promenade area of the La Glea beach in Campoamor will be redesigned and rebuilt from scratch after almost the entire area was devastated by the gota fría flooding.
Due to the extensive damage caused by the 250 litres of torrential rain that swept the new promenade away, which had only been inaugurated the previous summer, and literally split the beach road in two, the whole of the promenade and road must be reconstructed rather than just repaired.
The councillor will be meeting with the provincial service manager for beaches on 22 October to discuss the directives of the new project, which they hope to get underway as soon as possible.
La Glea beach was one of the worst-hit areas on the coast, which also saw widespread damage to public benches, road signs, pavements, public walkways and property walls as well as the
sector, which registered an increase of 11.9% people unemployed and translates as an extra 574 people looking for work. Despite the time of the year, in which the unemployment level is always expected to rise, unemployment figures in the construction sector actually went down in Torrevieja at the end of September.
beaches and roads. The government has assigned a total of 11.4 million euro for urgent repairs on affected beaches on the Mediterranean coast, with 2,330,000 euro awarded to the province of Alicante, which some experts say is not enough. Several areas needing urgent repair, such as Elche, La Marina and Santa Pola, do not appear on the list of areas to which the money will go and the money will be spent on replacing sand

WHAT THE VOTERS WANT A total of 185 proposals have been made by residents of Torrevieja that are to be included in the 2020 Participatory Budgets. According to Eduardo Dolón, Torrevieja’s Mayor, 153 of the new proposals were made online and 32 on paper and all of them can be seen on the municipality’s official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/
AyuntamientoTorrevieja/.
The most popular proposal has been the addition of a climbing wall in the Municipal Sports Centre, followed by the creation of a new special skatepark. Other ideas focus around improving the Vía Verde (Green Route), establishing cycle paths and better street cleaning. A special technical committee will assess each viable proposal to evaluate the cost and those that are economically workable will be approved by the governing body and incorporated into the Municipal Budget for next year, which the Mayor hopes to approve before the end of December.

CRIMINAL GANG DISMANTLED An organised crime gang dedicated to carrying out burglaries and break-ins of homes in the Vega Baja area has been dismantled by the Guardia Civil. Three people of Russian and Moldavian origin were arrested in Orihuela, San Miguel de Salinas and Novelda last month during the operation.
The gang carried out a series of robberies in which they stole items such as expensive jewellery and cash and made their getaway in cars with false license plates, which made their identification extremely difficult. The three criminals, aged between 35 and 59, are currently out on bail and awaiting trial.

WEATHER CAUSES ALLERGY CASES TO RISE Pharmacists and medical professionals in the region have reported a huge increase in the number of visits from people with allergies this autumn.
A combination of the recent torrential rain and the abnormally high temperatures has resulted in a “second spring”, which has unfortunately brought with it a new wave of allergy to pollen. This second spring coincides with the flowering of various autumnal plants and flowers that many pollen sufferers are also allergic to. However, health professionals have explained that the current allergies are more intense as people think they are allergic to only one thing when, in reality, they are actually allergic to a substance that is present in many different places, which then become more severe as
they all add up. Another complication is the overuse of antiinflammatories and antihistamines, so the effectiveness of these medications is lessened. Hospitals have reported a rise in the number of cases where patients are being admitted in order to treat their allergies this autumn. In a bid to avoid hospital treatment, experts have advised those prone to allergies to only spend short amounts of time in garden and park areas, avoiding any unnecessary physical exercises in these areas, and to spend most of their time inside where it’s clean and dust-free. It’s best to keep windows closed unless ventilating the room, which is best done in the evening and to spray water in the air before going to bed.

While strolling around the grounds of Orihuela’s castle last week, an unsuspecting visitor came across the skeletal remains of a human being, which had been unearthed after the DANA flooding that took place a month ago.
What looks like part of a human skull is now being examined by experts to establish exactly how long the remains had been buried there. Initial investigations seem to indicate that the skull could be just over three hundred years old and belong to a soldier who was stationed at the castle. Orihuela’s councillor for Historical Heritage, Rafael Almagro, commented that in 1707 the castle’s fortress was struck by lightning, which left it in ruins and killed 90 soldiers in the process, and he believes the remains belong to one them.

Across the country, the reservoirs stand at 40% of their capacity, whereas here in the Alicante province the figure is still just 33%, according to this week´s figures released by the water supply
The Pedrera reservoir is currently holding 67 cubic hectometres, just 27% of the capacity. Crevillente on the other hand is 69% full, albeit holding just 9 cubic hectometres.
The picture is slightly better than last year though, where the reservoirs held just 26% of their capacity, but it is considerably below the 42% average spread over the last decade.
PROPERTY FRAUDSTERS REACH COURT A trial will begin next week in Elche where the following the auction of the properties, however, prosecutor is asking for between 30 and 46 months in prison for 4 people investigated for a property scam. The trial should have begun last week but had to be postponed due to one of the lawyers being indisposed, a delay which is somewhat insignificant as the case dates back 11 years. According to the prosecutor, the offences were committed between 2007 to 2008, when 2 of the defendants were offering bank foreclosure properties for sale, taking a deposit, and then disappearing. The teased buyers were asked to pay 6,000 euro in advance to ensure a mortgage would be granted
“the homes offered for sale belonged to their registry holders and not to any financial entity, nor did the first two defendants have power of attorney as any agent.”
Spanish View Property.com
The case details around 20 cases of fraud, some which occurred in this area, as well as Alicante, but also as far as Seville. Six of the case were around the Elche municipality. As well as asking for prison for the defendants, the prosecutor is also demanding that the money be returned to the victims, with interest from the date the money exchanged hands, on the assumption they are found guilty of course.

NOT SO EASYJET An Easyjet Airbus flying from Alicante to Belfast had to return to the airport after one of the engines ingested birds on take-off. Flight U2-6706 from Alicante-Elche Airport to Belfast on 4 October was in the initial climb out of Alicante's runway 10 when an engine “ingested a number of birds” prompting the crew to stop the climb at 4,000 feet initially, later the aircraft climbed to
6,000 feet and returned to Alicante for a safe landing on runway 10 about 40 minutes after departure. Passengers reported there was a strange noise immediately after departure which continued until after landing. The captain announced, “one of the engines had been damaged by a bird strike.” The passengers later complained that they were told to get accommodation
Ikea Bib Withdrawn Ikea has withdrawn a baby bib from sale and urged those who have already purchased it to return it, after a choking risk was identified. The item is the Matvra baby bib pack, in blue and red, in which it has been discovered that the button closure could become detached from the material by pulling or biting and causing the child to choke if ingested. The company indicated in a statement that the withdrawal is after two cases have occurred in
Norway and the United Kingdom, both without requiring medical attention. “We have been informed that there is a risk that the button can come off if it is pulled,” says Emelie Knoester, Business Director of Ikea of Sweden. If you have the affected product you should stop using it and return them to the store for a full refund or replacement for a similar product, without the need to present the purchase receipt.

BLAKE THE MIRACLE KITTEN Exactly a year ago I got a plea for help from a lady who had found a street cat on the side of the road that had been hit by a car and sadly killed.
This case wasn't your usual case. The street cat was recently seen heavily pregnant, and somewhere lay a litter of newborn kittens left without a mother, in urgent need of rescuing. I received the good news that six kittens were located nearby. I stepped in immediately knowing that there was no time to waste. All six kittens came to Happy Pets. To my surprise, apart from being a little cold and hungry, the kittens were in great shape.
the veterinary clinic. I had her on my lap in the car, as I attempted to help her gain consciousness. At the clinic, I was greeted by the veterinary team. They began to prepare the heat lamp and check her temperature. Her temperature was so dangerously low that it didn't register on the thermometer.
A couple of weeks into caring for the orphaned kittens, I experienced a very scary situation. A rescuer's worst nightmare. Upon checking on the kittens, I found one of the kittens unresponsive, she was lifeless.
The vet explained that her body temperature was not compatible with life. And even though we could use the heat lamp to raise her body temperature, this was very risky and we may lose her in the process. Blake was weighing in at only 90 grams and remained unresponsive.
I quickly wrapped her up in a blanket and headed to
The vet suspected a possible blood sugar drop and

suggested we insert a feeding tube with special fluids. This would either help her or make the situation worse. But we decided to go ahead as this was the only option we had. Blake went into a coma and her heart started to slow down.
Unfortunately, the week didn't end smoothly. At home, I revived Blake three times. Blake couldn't be with her siblings or have milk from a bottle. She had to be fed with a special feeding tube. A tricky process when the patient is so tiny and delicate.
We prepared for the worst, so I gave her a name. I named her Blake. I placed her in the incubator in the attempt to stabilise her temperature, and to my complete surprise, Blake opened her eyes after a while.
Blake required around the clock care. I took a week off work to provide her with the best possible care. And when I returned to work, Blake came too! It was a rough couple of months, but Blake showed us that she was a fighter.
Within ten minutes Blake was standing up on her own. The vets and veterinary assistants were all crowded around in pure disbelief. In over 30 years of working in the veterinary field, neither of my vets have ever witnessed such a miracle. A kitten that came back from such a dangerously low body temperature and survived a coma, weighing only 90 grams. Blake was hospitalised and monitored for a few hours before she was allowed home.
Every milestone was a miracle, such as her first meal without the feeding tube. As I saw her grow into a happy little kitten I knew it was worth every tear, worry and sleepless night.
successful. A year on Blake is now doing wonderfully. All her siblings and the other kittens rescued at the same time found wonderful homes. In animal rescue, you see many different cases, sick, injured and neglected. All are special in their own way. But every once in a while you connect with one like you have never before. And this is exactly what happened with Blake. Blake will always have a special place in my heart, so she has become a permanent member of the family. She has come very far. There's a reason why she has gained the title 'miracle kitten', she really is the definition of a miracle.
Due to being so sick, one of Blake's eyes didn't develop as it should have, so she required surgery to make the opening of that eye slightly bigger. This procedure was done at the same time as her spay. Both procedures were

HEALING THE INNER CHILD One of my favourite topics and one that seems to be underlying in every client I see, is the unhealed inner child.
The child in us that still has unmet needs based on our childhood and the part of us that often rears its head as adults; especially in close and intimate relationships, or where there are challenges we don't have the emotional maturity to cope. As children, we are like sponges and we are extremely sensitive;especially when it comes to our parents. Add this to the fact that no parents are perfect and more often than not, parent based on their own parenting and you have a potential recipe for an 'Unhealed inner child.' As children, we want only to be loved and cared for and if our parents don't meet our needs, we adapt our behaviours in order to get those needs met. This then becomes learnt behaviour which we may carry into our adult relationships. These behaviours can be extremely inappropriate, especially when they are demanding and manipulative and of course result in a limiting and unsuccessful life. So what can we do, if we believe our inner child needs some healing? Well, I think the first step is to work on our awareness of ourselves,by taking responsibility for what kind of results we are getting in our lives. If our relationships, work and health are suffering and we seem to be stuck and repeating certain behaviours, it really is up to us to stop any blaming others and look at ways we can change.
One of my favourite quotes by the late Dr.Wayne Dyer says'If we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.' And I think this quote definitely defines the importance of developing our self-awareness and taking responsibility for our lives. We can help also seek guidance from a coach who has the training, experience and tools to be able to help bring us into awareness and help us realise those inner child needs and how we can meet them ourselves rather than look to others and material things, which is often the case as we try to comfort the inner child's angry cries when trying to get our attention and be acknowledged.
by Nicola Farnhill Connected to Self
us are not aware of the importance of indulging the playful part of it. As children we choose to do things based on how much happiness we gain, but as adults we begin to have responsibilities which put pressure on us to take life more seriously and whilst it is important to be responsible and take good care of ourselves and our lives, the playful part of us can often get oppressed, making us serious and not able to shake things off and embrace a more light-hearted approach. When we do play, our inner child gets to express itself and we feel free and less restrained by life's challenges. So making time for being playful and having fun and being silly really is vital to our happiness and health.
Creativity is also a way our inner child gets to express itself, when we allow time for hobbies and interests our imagination and creative juices get to flow. We become present enjoying each moment as it unfolds and we also get to be lost, releasing our fears, worries and anxieties. One of the most valuable things we need to know as human beings is that regardless of what we have experienced and what we may have become due to our needs not being met as child, we can change. We have a resilience beyond measure and all we need to do is choose ourselves and our happiness. Then we can begin our journey to heal our inner child to be the best version of ourselves and create true meaning, love and happiness. Much love and wonderful week

NATURAL APPETITE SUPPRESSANTS – EAT LESS AND LOSE WEIGHT NATURALLY For some people losing weight is not easy and even trying to drop just a couple of pounds feels like the equivalent of trying to beat Mike Tyson in a boxing match. Drastic measures are called for and some may even turn to chemical appetite suppressants – many of which can do more harm than good and contain dangerous additives that can wreak havoc on the body and would do best to be avoided completely.
Nevertheless, there are natural ways to help feel fuller faster and natural foods that have proven to reduce hunger pains. Of course, these methods are not widely promoted as pharmaceutical companies want customers to continue buying their synthetic pills.
Green tea
Green tea has many wonderful healing properties and it is also one of the best natural ways to suppress appetite and help with losing weight. The antioxidants and caffeine contained within the green tea work together to decrease the levels of the body’s hunger hormone, thus naturally reducing your appetite. Not only this but it also blocks fat absorption, boosts energy expenditure and augments the amount of fat that leaves the body via your stool. Coffee
more capsaicin, which means greater hunger-suppressing power. Dandelion
Many people are turning to dandelion tea to help them lose weight. This low-calorie tea is a great substitute for more calorific drinks and has been long-known as a diuretic which helps flush out any extra water retained in the body. It has also been found to boost the breakdown of cholesterol and fat in the blood, which is why it is recommended to drink dandelion tea before meals. Digestion is also improved as the tea stimulates gastric secretion in the stomach. Saffron extract
What is a natural appetite suppressant? Natural appetite suppressants work in a variety of ways. They are substances found in different foods that send a signal to the brain communicating that the body is not hungry. Some help the body burn fat quicker and others increase metabolism.
Studies have shown that drinking coffee between 30 minutes and 3 hours before a meal reduces the appetite and the result is a lower intake of energy, therefore less food and calories are consumed. Apparently, decaffeinated coffee works even better! Capsaicin Capsaicin is an active component found in peppers, which has been found to naturally suppress the appetite. The hotter the pepper, the
Most of you will be familiar with saffron as being one of the main and distinguishing ingredients of the Valencian paella. Less well known are two of saffron’s bioactive compounds crocin and crocetin – which have been found to reduce one’s appetite. Tests carried out by obese men and women found that they actually ate less food after taking saffron extract or crocin
on its own. In addition It’s great to know that you don’t have to resort to a jar of chemically manufactured diet pills to try and help with weight loss. Of course, following a healthy diet and doing a little exercise on a daily basis is the best thing you can do not only for your weight but also for your health. For those that do want to get rid of those extra kilos, you might also want to try adding more protein-rich foods to your diet as they keep you full up for longer and they require more energy to digest, which means that you’ll burn more calories – even while resting! And, don’t forget to eat plenty of fibrerich foods, which will fill you up due to their bulk. Fibre also helps the food you eat to move through the small intestine much quicker, raising the levels of PYY which signals to your brain that you are full. Fibre-rich foods include fruit and vegetables, oatmeal and brown rice.
CHEESE CHECK If you have any French cheese in your fridge it´s time to look a little closer at the label, as a small number of items are being withdrawn from sale, with consumers advised not to eat them, because of a risk of Listeria. The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has reported the withdrawal of a few batches of raw milk cheese manufactured in France for fear of the presence of Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli, although Aesan points out that no cases of infection have yet been identified. The cheese under the microscope is manufactured by the company Sas Le Moulins, and are products distributed in Spain: Moulis cremier, lot 19163112, expiration
date 01/12/2019; Moulis Vache, lot 19199118 expiration date 05/12/2019; and Bethmale de Marterar Vache, lot 19199118 expiration date 20/12/2019. Aesan says that as a precaution, the product has been withdrawn from the market and it is recommended that people who
have the affected product at home refrain from consuming it and return it to the point of purchase. Aesan explains that it was informed through the European Commission alert system following a warning from the German health authorities for the presence of listeria and E.Coli.

ELECTRIC CARS TO GET SAFER Having already vowed to ensure that there is never a fatal or serious incident involving one of their vehicles in the future, Swedish car manufacturer
Volvo is now moving into the electric-propulsion market, with the launch of their first electric SUV. The advance of electric vehicles is the biggest change that has occurred in the history of the automobile. hundred percent electric vehicle: complying with the authentic Volvo tradition, it also presents one of the safest vehicles on the road, despite the challenges involved in the absence of an internal combustion engine. "Regardless of whether the vehicle moves thanks to an electric machine or a combustion engine, a Volvo must always be safe," says Malin Ekholm, head of safety
for Volvo Cars. "The fully electric XC40 will be one of the safest vehicles we have ever built." Based on the excellent safety standards of the original XC40, Volvo Cars safety engineers have had to completely redesign and reinforce the front structure to deal with the absence of an engine, meet strict Volvo Cars safety requirements and maintain occupant safety as in any other Volvo. “The safety basics of this vehicle are the same as those of any other Volvo. Inside people travel and the vehicle must be designed taking into account their safety,” says Malin Ekholm.
In association with and exclusive safety structure for both passengers and the XC40 battery. A safety cage formed by an extruded aluminium frame embedded in the central part of the body structure protects the battery by creating a deformable area around it. The fact that the battery is placed on the floor of the vehicle offers the additional advantage of lowering the centre of gravity, which improves overturn protection.

The councillor for Education, Susana Miralles, has explained about the “Camino al Cole” initiative, developed in collaboration with the Local Police, which consists of designing safe walking routes from the Plaza de la Constitución to all Almoradí educational centres. their backpacks, which is drawn on the pavements and crossings where the routes lead. The idea was first put to the local government in November after a visit to the town by education expert Francesco Tonucci who explained how the project helps to improve safety and the environment, whilst also encouraging healthy habits amongst young people. Based on the idea, the Almoradí councillor visited the town of Pontevedra in the summer, where a model of the scheme is in place, and met with the local government and police there in order to see the benefits of the scheme, although the schools were closed at the time. The basis of the ambitious initiative is to develop towns and cities that are more focused on people and on the sustainable and safe use of public spaces. For this it is

IF ONLY CARS HAD INDICATORS! Okay, we were having a little joke with the headline. Of course, we know cars have indicators, it´s just that all too often drivers choose not to use them. When you think that the only effort is a simple movement of a finger, it does make us wonder what would have been the reaction in 1920 when, on 10 October, the Ministry of Transport announced that compulsory hand signals would be introduced for all drivers. The hand signal (no, the official hand signal, not that one) is celebrating a birthday. The rule meant that all drivers had to signal a turn or a slowing-down, by projecting an arm horizontally in the manner proscribed from the right-hand side of the vehicle. The outstretched arm moved from side to side indicated ‘Stop’.
signed an agreement creating the International Travelling Pass system. Cars were identified by oval tags, generally black on white, noting the country of origin and providing a minimum guarantee for public safety on the road. Thanks to Brexit, it is perhaps ironic that GB will once again have to make a clearer appearance on the back of UK registered cars almost 110 years to the day. In order to qualify for wearing the badge, the vehicles had to be equipped with a strong steering mechanism, and warning systems, namely, a horn and two lights, one at the front and one at the back. The spoke of the end of the Mini last week, well today we celebrate
Today, 11 October, another anniversary is being celebrated. Because on this day in 1909, members of various European automobile clubs
another British motoring marvel, the Rover 200, but the launch rather than the loss. On this day in 1989 the Rover Group, Britain's largest independent carmaker, launched its new medium-sized hatchback, the 200 Series, (Mk 2) which replaced the small four-door saloon of the same name, and gave buyers a more modern and upmarket alternative to the ongoing Maestro range, which has declined in popularity recently. However, all was not quite what it seemed as the 200 series was basically a British built Honda Ballade. In 2010 the future looked altogether brighter for a pop icon, as George Michael was released from Highpoint Prison after serving four of an eight-week sentence for driving under the influence of drugs. The singer had been arrested after crashing his car into the front of a Snappy Snaps store in Hampstead, North London in July of this year.

OCTOBER RECIPES As the summer gradually turns to autumn, the days get shorter and the weather begins to change, so does our appetite and the list of seasonal ingredients available at this time of year.
Pumpkin and goat’s cheese soup
Ingredients 1.3kg pumpkin, peeled and cut into 2-3cm chunks 750ml chicken stock 200g shallots, halved lengthways with skin on 1 small head garlic, skin on top centimetre sliced off 4 tbsp olive oil 3 sprigs rosemary 2 tsp dried chilli flakes Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper To garnish 3 tbsp pumpkin seeds 1 tsp olive oil To serve 100g crumbly goat’s cheese Method Heat the oven to 180°C/350°F. Scatter the pumpkin in a large roasting tin with the shallots, garlic cut-side down, rosemary, chilli, olive oil and seasoning. Roast for 40 minutes until mostly tender and golden brown. For the garnish, toss the pumpkin seeds on a baking tray with the olive oil and toast in the oven for 5 minutes. When the pumpkin is ready, remove the rosemary and squeeze the softened shallots from their skins into the roasting tray, discarding the skins. Heat the stock in a saucepan large enough to fit the pumpkin, then add the contents of the roasting tray and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Blend to a smooth purée using a stick blender, thinning with more hot stock if necessary or process in a blender. Reheat gently to serve, season and ladle into warm bowls. Crumble over the goat’s cheese and scatter with pumpkin seeds.
More often than not, we’ll exchange the light, fresh salads for hearty soups; the courgette and cucumber for pumpkin and cauliflower and the seabass and sardines for mussels and lamb.

Slow-roast shoulder of lamb and sliced potatoes Ingredients 2.2kg whole shoulder of lamb, skin on 750g waxy potatoes, such as Desiree, cut into thick 2cm slices 570ml/1pint hot lamb or beef stock 2 large onions, cut into quarters 4 garlic cloves, sliced Gravy 50g flour 450ml hot lamb or beef stock 100ml red wine 3 tbsp lamb fat 1-2 tsp redcurrant jelly few drops Worcestershire sauce Method Preheat the oven 220°C/375°F. Sit the lamb, skin side up and with a knife make holes through the skin. Insert the garlic into the holes. Roast for about 20 minutes until brown. Carefully turn the lamb over and roast for a further 20-30 minutes until brown all over. Boil the onion in water for 10 minutes, then add the potatoes and boil for 4 minutes. Drain well. Remove the lamb from the tin. Add the onions and potatoes to the tin and mix together. Add the hot stock to the tin, then put the lamb on top, with the smooth side up. Cover tightly with foil. Reduce the temperature of the oven to 160°C/320°F and cook for 3½-4 hours, or until the lamb is completely tender. Remove the lamb from the tin and put it onto a board. Strain off the fat from the tin into a small bowl. Turn the oven temperature up to 220°C/375°F and return the potatoes and onions to the oven to brown for 25 minutes. Spoon 3 tbsp of fat from the tin into a saucepan. Add the flour and stir over the heat for 30 seconds. Whisk in the hot stock, wine, redcurrant jelly and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk until thickened and bubbling. Carve the lamb and serve with gravy and potatoes and onion. Serve with green vegetables.
Apple bread pudding
Ingredients 75g raisins 100ml cold tea 3 apples or 3 pears or a mixture lemon juice 400ml full-fat milk 125g unsalted butter, plus extra for greasing 3 eggs 100g soft brown sugar 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg, freshly grated 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 large bread loaf, can be a bit stale, with crusts on or off 1 tbsp brown sugar crystals Method Place the raisins in a small bowl, add the cold tea and leave to soak. Peel, core and slice the apples or pears and keep them fresh in a bowl of water with a squeeze of lemon juice. Grease a baking dish and preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F. Gently warm the milk in a saucepan, add the butter and let it melt. Set aside to cool. Place the eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla in a bowl and beat with a hand whisk until well combined. Whisk in the buttery milk. Tear the bread into pieces and layer in the baking dish. Strain the raisins, discarding the tea, and scatter over the bread, then top with the sliced fruit. Pour in the batter and sprinkle on brown sugar crystals. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until the pudding has set and has a golden crust on top. Serve with ice cream or custard.

MONTE MUGGED BIGASTRO ESCAPE WITH THE POINTS. Team:- Carlos, Fernando, Santos, Diego, Perez, Gonzalo, Maccan, Adrian, Manuel, Alex, Manu. Subs:- Morante, German, Raul, Luis, Manuel Jose.
A game that commenced with fireworks off the pitch and just as explosively, on the pitch, had more cards on display than Clinton's, also ended with a shock loss for leaders CD Montesinos at Saturday's evening kick-off at the Cauldron. As early as the second minute, a deliberate handball in the Monte area gifted a pacey Bigastro side the lead. Keeper Carlos got a firm hand to the strike but was unable to stop the squirming ball creeping over the line. Critically, that single goal was to remain an albatross around Monte's neck for the rest of the game. The half subsequently developed into an overly feisty affair, with Bigastro taking every opportunity, egged on by a boisterous bench, to niggle and nip at any Montesinos player who dared to have the ball, whilst loudly complaining if one of their own simply fell over. Nuno Espirito Santo's outfit have now moved into 11th place, while Liverpool have taken 8 wins in 8 games and are heading into the international break 8 points clear of Man City, a huge advantage the Reds will be careful not to blow away. Traore's two goals mean that Champions League holders and last years runners up Liverpool go eight points clear with just eight games played. The Reds secured all three points against Leicester on Saturday after a hard-fought and end to end match against a very impressive and well organised Leicester City

team managed by former Liverpool and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers. One punter in Salford has felt so convinced by the fantastic start to the season that he has put his money where his mouth is and placed the biggest bet of the season so far by wagering 55,000 pounds on Liverpool to win the league at 4/6 to return just over 90,000 pounds. However it is very early in the title race this season and teams have had bigger leads at this stage In the past only to fall short in the deciding months of March, April and May, Liverpool also had a 7 point lead going into the second half of last season which Manchester City eventually clawed back to claim yet another Premier League trophy.

The Premier League sides return to domestic action next weekend after the international break.

Hola! Welcome to another week in paradise. Sometimes I think we should all take a moment to reflect and appreciate just how lucky we are (whether playing good or bad) to be competing on such a beautiful golf course in ideal weather conditions. Our week kicked off with the
dreaded ‘Yellow Peril’. With a commendable 150 points, our winners were Annemarie Weistheit, Friedel Knebel, John Dobson and, making a guest appearance, Alan Jopling. Onto Wednesday and it was round 2 of 3 in our ‘major trophy’ medal competition. There were four ‘2’s

ENGLAND WARY OF RACIST CHANTS IN CZECH REPUBLIC Gareth Southgate's Three Lions are potentially facing a difficult evening both on and off the pitch in Fridays Group A Euro 2020 qualifier in the Czech Republic. The World Cup Semi-Finalists have been briefed on how to act and how to respond if they suffer racism, both on and off the pitch, ahead of two huge games against the Czech Republic on Friday night and then just a few days later against Bulgaria at Wembley Stadium. The meeting was called after reports of some players threatening to walk off the pitch if they encountered any racist chants or abuse during the games. England defender Tyrone Mings spoke to the worlds media on Wednesday and said: "Hopefully something doesn't

happen and hopefully we're not exposed to any form of racism whether that be player or staff member - but if we are this is the protocol and this is what should happen." He added: "It was a really powerful and important meeting to make sure we were well equipped going into these to games. To know that the manager is behind us and we stand united as a group of players, that we have the full backing of players and staff." England will also be wary on the pitch in Friday's important qualifying game against a very well organised and talented Czech outfit. The Czech Republic are the main rivals for the top spot in Group A. The home side trail the Three Lions by three points but have played a game more than Gareth Southgate's team so England are firmly in the driving seat leading up to the crunch match. Last time out The Czech Republic recorded a
comfortable 3-0 win in Montenegro. The win kept the Czechs just a point ahead of third-place Kosovo in the race for automatic qualification for next years tournament. Czech Republics first goalscorer in four of the last six international games is Partick Schick and he is a player to watch in the upcoming qualifier Raheem Sterling was England's hattrick hero in the previous encounter in March so he will be relishing the chance to play against the Czech back four once again and get himself
amongst the goals. England are unbeaten in their last ten European Championship qualifiers and have won nine of those games. In the first qualifying match against the Czech's England were very convincing in a 5-0 thrashing of Jaroslav Silhavys team. It is almost certain to be a different story this time around in the hostile atmosphere in Prague. Kick-off is Friday is 8.45 pm Spanish time.
