A CLEANING NIGHTMARE!
Having been shut down for a string of safety violations, the Municipal Theatre in Torrevieja is set to reopen this month, hopefully.

The municipal cleaning team employed by Torrevieja town hall are baffled by the number of mattresses they have collected throughout the summer period. Specifically, the team has collected 9,081 mattresses between July and September, representing an average of 100 per day. The councillor for urban cleaning, Carmen Gómez Candel, has issued

a statement expressing almost disbelief at the quantity, especially as when shops sell mattresses to an individual it is normal for them to remove the old one and dispose of it. The nearly 9,100 abandoned mattresses have cost 163,458 euro to remove and dispose of, a cost which every resident will share through the tax on municipal waste management, hence the

The theatre was the subject of controversy even before it was built, as a listed building, a cinema, was given a demolition order by a previous Partido Popular government, much to the dismay of those looking to protect the heritage of the town.
The mayor of the town, Eduardo Dolón has said this week that the theatre will reopen its doors for the first time since it was shut down in 2015, and the first event to be hosted will be the Queen Continued on page 2 of Salt Coronation

BUSINESS BOOST FOR GUARDAMAR
environmental protection, sustainable development, related to the tourism sector or cultural and sports activities.
If you run a business from Guardamar, you may be eligible for a grant, thanks to funding on offer from the town hall.
The project, named “Business Impulse 2019”, offers funding of up to 2,500 euro to local businesses, with the intention of boosting employment in the town. The councillor for Economic Promotion, Gisela Teva, explained how the project aims to “encourage the creation and maintenance of employment, promote the undertaking of new initiatives, favour the growth and consolidation of existing companies and boost economic
activity.” It´s not just companies who can benefit though, as the councillor explained that applications are welcome from the selfemployment, who in turn are able to hire workers, and will favour those who hire people who have found it difficult to get a job. Your application will also be favoured if your project contains the use of innovative technology,
The town hall recognises that the basis of the business fabric of Guardamar, responsible for the generation and maintenance of employment, is mainly articulated by small companies and the self-employed, who undertake great efforts in keeping the commerce of the town alive. Applications must be submitted in the general register of the town hall and in the electronic headquarters before 8th November.

Once built, it later transpired that as the building was inaugurated in 2006, it didn´t have an opening licence. It, however, remained open until 2015 when the provincial inspectors issued a closure order due to safety violations, including those which were of considerable risk to the public, such as fire regulations, work which would cost some 80,000 euro to put right. The building also lacked
a certificate by the architect confirming the completion of the project, as, according to architect Antonio Marquerie, he refused to sign the document on account of the town hall, owing him 132,000 euro. However, despite the dramatic past that the story of the building reveals, all now seems in order according to Dolón, and so we can expect to see a full schedule of events taking place soon.
HELP FOR ORIHUELA RESTAURANTEURS The Chamber of Commerce in Orihuela is offering restaurant owners the chance to improve their service through a series of courses that will run through November.

David Bernardo López, Doctor in Agricultural Engineering and Champagne Ambassador in Spain 2016, along with Bachelor in Chemical Sciences with a Master in Viticulture and Enology, Hanán Issa Issa. participant in the thorough knowledge of the product and excellence in the customer service,” he added. The program consists of four modules, two of which will be an introduction to sensory analysis and wine tasting, with a third dedicated to pairing and creating menus and dishes that harmonise with them. Finally, the course will have a module dedicated to the efficient management of a
warehouse to obtain adequate profitability. Those interested in participating or requesting more information can register through the email address camaraorihuela@ camaraorihuela.org, on by telephoning 96 674 32 02 or 96 674 21 40, or in person at the facilities of the Business Incubator (Avenida del Mar, no 10) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES SWORN IN The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, along with the councillor for citizen participation, Inmaculada Montesinos, welcomed 31 local representatives to the town hall this week, all of whom are destined to be a link between the town hall and the local communities.
The idea is that they will act as a bidirectional flow of information from the town hall to the residents, as well as providing information on the needs, incidents and problems facing those living in the town and, in particular, the areas surrounding the centre which have often been neglected in the past.
The municipality has been divided into zones, each represented by one of the delegates, who this week received their credentials and instructions from the government team.
To find out who your local delegate is, in the first instance you should contact the town hall, and then you can filter any problems in your area through your representative.

A CLEANING NIGHTMARE! Continued from page 1
far this year the disposal teams have collected 716,660 kilograms of waste from the streets, whilst making 181 trips to the landfill, and with two months until the end of the year it now looks like there will be an additional 70 trips made, with an increase of 200,000 kilograms of waste compared to last year, which will no doubt mean that the municipal tax will be increased
next year for everyone in Torrevieja
If you were amongst those in Torrevieja who thought the streets particularly messy during the summer, especially in terms of large items abandoned by the waste bins, then the council has stressed that during these months “the street cleaning service has been overwhelmed by the large number of uncontrolled dumping that have occurred.”
Student Injured in School Stabbing A male student, who is under 17-years-old, has been injured in a stabbing incident at a Torrevieja school. The incident occurred at 08:50 on Tuesday morning in front of one of the teachers at the school and is believed to have been motivated by an argument between the two students. The emergency services were alerted to the
fact that a male had been injured after being stabbed in the back. A paramedic ambulance was sent to the scene and the victim was transferred to hospital, although the injuries were said to be superficial. The local police arrested the attacker before handing him to the Guardia Civil who are now investigating the incident.

The town hall also points out that it is us as a population who are responsible for creating that mess, and if therefore asking for cooperation to “end the problem”, and to “improve the image of Torrevieja”. You can report incidents such as the appearance of large items and unsightly piles of rubbish, or if you witness anybody dumping large items, by sending an email to porunatorreviejalimpia@
3 gmail.com, preferably photographs of videos.
with
The town hall is also saying that they are seeking evidence to punish those who carry out these dumping activities and that if you report somebody then your anonymity will be guaranteed, because, according to councillor Carmen Gómez Candel, the service exists for all rubbish collections, large or small, and from your door to the tip.
If you have large items to dispose of, you can take them to the municipal dumping ground which is opposite the Carrefour supermarket on the main Torrevieja to Quesada road, or telephone 96 670 23 90 to arrange collection, a service which has so far this year had 884 calls, resulting in 7,400 goods being removed and disposed of in a proper manner, rather than being left on the street.

CLIMATE CHANGE – WE´RE ALL RESPONSIBLE
The Alicante provincial government has launched a climate change campaign which is focussing on the most important key in fighting global warming, the fact that we are all responsible. The Diputación took advantage of the International Day against Climate Change to launch an initiative with a clear message of public awareness, to which the government delegate
responsible for the environment, Miguel Ángel Sánchez, recalled the importance of “institutions, companies and society in general, adopting and promoting measures aimed at reversing this situation of global imbalance and emergency”.
Sánchez stressed that “with small daily gestures we can carry out actions and policies that respect the environment. Our actions will have an impact in the short, medium and long term on our environment and these cannot be a mere declaration of intent,” he said. Respect for the care and protection of the environment are a priority for the Diputación de Alicante.
Therefore, throughout the year, there are numerous lines of aid that it promotes for this purpose such as the Energy Saving Plans, endowed with more than 2.5 million euro, items for the conservation and improvement of natural sites, recreational areas, gardens, public parks or green areas, in which about 2.4 million euro are invested. “From the provincial institution, we will continue to promote these types of policies and actions that respect the natural environment. Administrations have to be the drivers of this change of model and we should lead by example. However, from home we can also collaborate with small gestures such as controlling energy

PLEASE VISIT US MR PRESIDENT The president of the Diputación de Alicante, Carlos Mazón, has asked the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to take advantage of his stay in the province of Alicante to visit the areas affected by the September flooding, and in particular to give attention to the farmers and workers who have lost their livelihoods in the damage caused by the worst rainfall in a century. Sánchez, along with other national
politicians, is on the electoral campaign prior to the national re-elections being held in November and is planning to visit various towns across Alicante.
Following on from the visit by the King and Queen, Mazón believes that Sánchez must see first-hand the devastation caused by the flooding and the subsequent help that the farmers need. However, the call is not just on account of damage caused in September, but
also the longer-term problems facing the agricultural sector through lack of water and the expense that irrigation is costing, forcing prices to be higher for the consumer, which is considered unacceptable when water is constantly redirected to other parts of the country despite Torrevieja having a stateof-the-art desalination plant which should be able to fulfil the needs of the entire area. Water reserves have remained low in
the reservoirs across the area, even despite the heavy rain, as most of that water flowed from the hills, through the villages and towns and straight out to sea. The water levels in the reservoirs across the province stand at just 32.7% capacity, as of the latest figures this week, although that is more than the 26.03% capacity in the same week in 2018, but still below the 42.41% average over the last 10 years.

25 Facts about Cats 1. Cat's whiskers are approximately the same width as the cat's body. This helps them when it comes to judging how wide a place is before entering. This is why it is important to never cut a cat's whiskers! 2. Cats use their tail to communicate. Just like most animals, cats communicate mostly through body language. The tail is a big indicator of your cat's mood. 3. A cat's tail helps them to balance. The tail helps them to balance when they walk on narrow spaces such as fences or shelves. It also helps them to balance when they are running or jumping on prey. But don't worry, they can live without a tail, cats that lose their tail due to injury or an accident will learn how to balance perfectly without a tail. There are even certain breeds of cats
born without tails. 4. The cat's pupil will react to lightness and darkness by expanding and constricting. Their pupils will react much quicker than the pupil of a human. This helps their vision to adjust to light change faster. 5. All kittens are born with blue eyes. They will change to their permanent colour after a few weeks. 6. Cats sweat through their paws. They also sweat when frightened, this is why you might see little wet paw prints on the floor. 7. Calico cats are almost always female. VALUING YOURSELF
by Nicola Farnhill Connected to Self
If you wish to be valued as a human being, you first need to value yourself. I think probably the biggest thing in life we can achieve is to feel valuable, to feel purposeful and to be of service. To make a difference every day if we can. We may have many times in our lives when we do not live from our hearts. We have the intention to give with heartfelt feelings, but we just don't seem to be feeling it. And at this time when we are for whatever reason disconnected from our true authentic selves, our focus must go back to our hearts, to begin again the practice of seeing and experiencing our true value through service.
commonplace in the world but when we compare we strip ourselves of our value. Boundaries set the guidelines for valuing ourselves and when you stand up for yourself, the universe adds to that energy. Boundaries must be defined in different ways. With family, friends, socially and in the workplace, Once
When you are setting boundaries you need to ask yourself 'How is a lack of boundaries affecting my life?' And 'What actions can I take to create better ones?' Accepting ourselves exactly as we are is not always a commonplace, but it is imperative in our practice of self-value. We may see everyone perfectly but ourselves, but if we do this we cannot see that everyone is only perfectly
There is never going to be anyone who looks like you, feels like you and behaves like you. And there is no-one who is here for the same purpose, so you must learn to celebrate and value yourself. Each day you should have the desire to embrace your entirety. Comparing yourself because of social pressure is
To begin our journey into valuing us, we can do many things but whatever we do, we must do religiously and with discipline. We can try by simply affirming to ourselves positive thought's and words such as•
I am loved and I am beautiful

I am powerful
• Everything is always working our for me
When we serve others without the ego, we develop connections with them, we show them their value and we in turn experience ours. All human beings regardless of intelligence have worth. In society, we often experience shame, embarrassment, and social separation. And this is not our fault, but it is our responsibility to overcome these limiting experiences to feel valuable.

All is well

I am worthy
As we begin to change the way we think and feel about ourselves, we feel our value rise and we become of a higher value to others. If you want to begin this journey, why not write down a few positive affirmations about yourself and say them out loud a couple of times a day. And it won't be long before you will be believing them.
you have set boundaries no-one can hurt you, without you allowing it. They keep you being you, regardless of what someone is trying to impose on you or do to you. Boundaries are like the gatekeepers of your soul. When you have no boundaries you are sending out a clear message that you do not value yourself and so others will not value you either.
themselves, as we are. So we are all perfect and with this perspective, we are better equipped to accept ourselves. And this is an inside job. No one or thing can complete us. And when we accept ourselves, we begin to love ourselves. If you don't accept yourself, you start to believe others and your value diminishes and depends on the

MASSAGE
Sunshine News • Friday 1st November 2019
DIFFERENT TYPES OF MASSAGE •myotherapy – involves the assessment and treatment of soft tissue pain, injury and dysfunction affecting movement and mobility. Myotherapy is applied to restore and maintain the health and function of the soft tissue structure (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) of the human body •remedial – is the objective assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of the signs, symptoms and causes of biomechanical dysfunction or injury, using specific mobilisation techniques, in order to restore normal health and function
Massage is often seen as something you have when you need to relax overactive or you have injured a muscle, but it is so much more than that. As one of the oldest healing traditions practised by the Chinese, Indians, Egyptians and Ancient Greeks, massage offers positive effects to not only the body but the mind and soul. Through manipulation of the muscles with varying pressures, blood flow is increased which speeds up healing and aids the body in repairing. It also reduces adrenalin and cortisol, which in turn promotes a sense of wellbeing and relaxation.
For the ultimate stimulation of your senses, I would highly recommend an Aromatherapy massage. Blending essential oils especially for the individual, your experience will be sensual and leave you feeling deeply relaxed, yet your mind will feel stimulated and clear. Reflexology is based on the stimulation of points on your hands, feet, face and ears which all relate to other parts of your body and aim to increase awareness of where your body needs support and help in its health, whilst increasing healing of those parts.
If you can't sleep then a massage is perfect for taking away the stresses and strains of the day and reduces an overactive mind.
With so many different types of massage on offer, really important that you have a consultation before to make sure you get exactly what you need. For example a Swedish or Western massage will help you to relax, whilst a Sports massage is deeper and focuses on repairing and restoring. If you are looking to relax the nervous system and top up your immune system, especially after a term of illness, then a Lymphatic massage will put you back on the right track.
•lymphatic drainage – a gentle whole body treatment which relaxes the nervous system and aids the body's immune system •aromatherapy – essential oils made from selected flowers and plants are added to the massage oil for their particular therapeutic properties. For example, the scent of sandalwood is thought to reduce nervous tension
•baby massage – can help to treat constipation, colic and sleeping problems. Studies have found that regular massage helps premature babies to gain weight at a faster rate
And it can even help with chronic diseases, with people now specialising in massage for cancer. Whenever I have had a massage I notice my skin tone and texture is improved and my joints are more flexible, so it really is no wonder that people are looking towards massage as an integral part of life.
•therapeutic – also known as 'Western' or 'Swedish' massage. One of the most popular forms of massage in Australia, this technique is designed to promote relaxation and improve blood circulation
Shiatsu is similar in its approach to acupuncture and looks at increasing wellness through better energy flows within. On a spiritual level, we as human beings have a need to be touched, to have contact in a positive way. Touch is one of our basic human needs that we were born with and if we are to continue in our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, then we must consider the amount of physical contact we actually have. Whilst most of us are blessed with partners, family and friends that we make physical contact with, there are many of us that don't and with this in mind, a massage is a wonderful way to help us feel connected to ourselves and others. If you are a massage or health and beauty specialist, contact us to advertise your business. We have some great packages that can also incorporate our number 1 radio station Sunshine FM, so your business reaches a wider audience.
•reflexology – based on the principle that certain parts of the body reflect the whole. Reflex points, which relate to all parts of the body, can be found in the feet, hands, face and ears. These points respond to pressure, stimulating the body's own natural healing process •shiatsu – an oriental massage technique that aims to improve energy flow by working certain points on the body. The underlying principles of shiatsu massage are similar to those of acupuncture •sports – this is an application of massage, not a particular massage technique. The type of technique or treatment applied is dependent on the nature of the stage of training or competition, sports injury or condition and the assessment of the remedial massage therapist. Sports massage is a blend of techniques that aim to enhance performance and help overworked muscles to recover quickly.

Ingredients – Serves 6 • 12 oz (350 g) Bomba paella rice • 2 tablespoons olive oil • 1 x 3 lb (1.35 kg) Traditional Free Range chicken, jointed into 8 pieces • 1 large onion, peeled and roughly chopped • 1 red pepper, deseeded and roughly chopped into chunks • 4 oz (110 g) Spanish chorizo sausage in a piece, skin removed and cut into 1/2inch (1 cm) dice • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed • 1 heaped teaspoon paprika • 1/4 level teaspoon cayenne pepper • 1/2 level teaspoon saffron strands (1/2x 0.4 g sachet) • 8 oz (225 g) ripe red tomatoes, skinned and roughly diced • 12 raw tiger prawns, shell on, defrosted if frozen,4 with heads, 8 without • 2 oz (50 g) fresh or frozen shelled peas • 1 lemon, cut into wedges, to garnish • salt and freshly milled black pepper You will also need a shallow paella pan with a base diameter of 10 inches (25.5 cm),a top diameter of 13 inches (32.5 cm) and a capacity of 7 pints (4 litres).
Method Once you have peeled, chopped, prepared and assembled everything, heat the oil in the pan over a fairly high heat. Now season the chicken joints, adding 4 of them to the hot oil to sauté on all sides until golden brown, then remove them to a plate and do the same with the other 4 joints. Add the onion, pepper and chorizo and fry these over a medium heat for 6-8 minutes, or until they’re nicely tinged brown at the edges. Now add the garlic, paprika, cayenne and saffron and cook for another minute, then return the chicken to the pan, followed by the tomatoes, plenty of seasoning and 2 pints (1.2 litres) boiling water. Bring everything up to a gentle simmer, turn the heat down and cook, uncovered, for 10 minutes. After that, remove the chicken pieces and set them aside, then pour the rice into the centre of the pan. Bring everything back up to the boil, give a final stir and simmer, still uncovered, for about 10 minutes. During that time, shake the pan occasionally and move it around on the hob a little if the hob plate is not as big as the base of the pan. Return the chicken, along with the prawns and peas, to the pan and continue to simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked, adding a little more hot liquid if you think it’s necessary. Now shake the pan again, making sure the rice is completely immersed. Turn the prawns over halfway through the cooking time – they will turn pink when cooked. The rice at the edges of the pan will take longest to cook, so to test that the paella is ready, take a little of the rice from the edges and check it’s cooked through, then remove the pan from the heat and cover with a clean tea cloth for 5 minutes to absorb some of the steam. The paella is now ready – just garnish with the lemon wedges and don’t forget to have hot plates ready to serve it on.
The month of October is International Breast Cancer Awareness month and Maria and the Pink ladies marked the event at Zenia Boulevard with the support of the Boulevard management who provided artificial roses for members of the public to place on a fabulous mural for a small donation. The roses were placed onto the mural in memory of those who are suffering from this disease, those who have beaten it and also for those who sadly lost their battle. The different coloured roses were placed on the mural to form a pink bow which is the international symbol for breast cancer. The event kicked off at 12.30 with the support of local artists who all donated their time completely free of charge along with with Sunshine FM and Simon Morton, the artists who performed right up to the finale at around 18.00hrs were as follows: Keiley Paige, Shannon Campbell, Lorna Michelle, Abba Girls, No Limit, David John Williams as Rod Stewart, Nigel Burchill as Elvis, Raquel Pea Flamenco dance school, Totally Dance, and the fabulous dancers of La Sal de Torrevieja. A total of around 1500â‚Ź was raised on the day to help in the fight against cancer. Thank you to everyone involved. Maria Wilson, Maria and the Pink Ladies AECC President Orihuela Costa

CAPTUR TOP FOR SPANISH FACTORY The Renault body and assembly factory in Valladolid has rolled out the 1,500,000th Captur. The Captur manufacturing brings together three of Renault´s four Spanish facilities, with the TCe130 engine manufactured in a separate facility in Valladolid, the gearbox in Seville, and the final production model put together in the assembly factory, the landmark vehicle came off the production line wearing a distinctive bronzed orange colouring, with black roof. Since production began in February 2013, the Captur has become one
of the most popular vehicles in the Renault catalogue. For Renault Spain, the Captur is the second most exported vehicle in its history, with more than 1,350,000 units exported, just behind the Clio. Some 93% of Renault Captur's production is exported from Valladolid to 70 destinations located on five continents.

TESTING, TESTING… ONE, TWO, CHIC that the Driving Test was introduced in Britain.
On 1 November 1927, the Ford Motor Company began production on their latest model. The “Model A”, which was the powered by a 3.2-litre, fourcylinder engine that produced 40 hp. There were a staggering 5 million Model A cars on the road by the time production ended just 5 years later. There was another significant first for Ford in 1928 when the firm became the first car manufacturer to install safety glass in vehicles, significantly reducing injuries and fatalities in the process. However, the big birthday we are celebrating this week has done even more for road safety than Ford did in 1928, as it was on this day in 1946
Technically speaking, the driving test was reintroduced on this day after the end of World War II. Driving licences were introduced by the Motor Car Act 1903 but no test was required. A test for disabled drivers was introduced by the Road Traffic Act 1930. Legislation for compulsory testing was introduced for all new drivers with the Road Traffic Act 1934. The test was initially voluntary to avoid a rush of candidates until 1 June 1935 when all people who had started to drive on or after 1 April 1934 needed to have passed the test. Testing was suspended again during the Suez Crisis in 1956 to allow examiners help to administer petrol rations. The driving theory test was introduced in July 1996 as a written examination which was updated to a computer-based test in 2000. The hazard perception test was introduced in November 2002. In January 2015 new CGI clips replaced the real-life video clips in the Hazard Perception
Test.
If it´s seventies chic that turns your eye then today is also a special one for your historic musing, as in 1972, with a body design executed by Bertone to produce a "special" look, Lamborghini unveiled the Urraco P250 in Turin. It was described as having a genuine beauty and a rare blend of balance, delicacy, grace, innovation and passion that seemed ageless. Another timeless classic was also unveiled at the Turin motor show, the compact(tiny) Fiat 126. The 126 used much of the same mechanical underpinnings and layout as its Fiat 500 rear-engine predecessor with which it shared its wheelbase but featured an all-new bodyshell closely resembling a scaleddown Fiat 127. Engine capacity was
increased from 594cc to 65cc at the end of 1977 when the cylinder bore was increased from 73. Finally, what may well have sparked the beginning of the end of an era of motoring greatness, on this day in 1981 British Leyland´s 58,000 workers began strike action in a dispute over pay.
CLASSIC CARS ON THE COSTA After being dormant for a few years, the original classic car club collection will be resuming activities in November, starting with an event that hopes to raise money for those affected by the September floods. The “Ruta de la Sal” classic cars event has been revived by the Rotary Club of Torrevieja and is now the thirteenth time the collection will be assembled.
Aiming to recover not only the event but also the spirit of companionship and friendship that are characteristic of this type of event, where participants can join and share their experiences, and their vehicles of course, with like-minded hobbyists. The event will take place on Saturday 9 November, starting at 9:00 a.m., with a breakfast of churros and chocolate in the Plaza

ALL SAINTS DAY CELEBRATIONS Friday is a national holiday in Spain, Todos los Santos, or All Saint´s Day, one of the most important family days in the celebratory calendar. It is traditional on this day for families to visit cemeteries in order to celebrate the day, often
with a picnic, with those relatives who are no longer in the living world. As a result, the roads around cemeteries are usually very busy and to try to alleviate the problem many of the town halls put on special shuttle buses for the day.

WORLD CUP FEVER HITS THE COSTA BLANCA England will take on South Africa in the Rugby World Cup final this weekend and the excitement is building all over the UK and here on The Costa Blanca with many local sports bars already expecting fully booked bars and terraces with only standing room left. The pressure was all on the All Blacks last week when England produced an outstanding display of discipline and game management to overcome the World Cup Favourites. The 19-7 defeat of two-time defending champions New Zealand last weekend saw Eddie Jones men reach number one on the World rankings for the first time in 15 years. South Africa sits second in that list
after a tough and gruelling encounter with Wales which saw them win by 3 points in their semi-final. South Africa are aiming to be World Cup champions and to be the first team ever to win a World Cup after losing a pool stage game. New Zealand managed to overcome the Springbox on the very first pool match of the competition. England will have to be wary of South Africa's and possibly the World Cup's best player who is Faf de Klerk who the rugby pundits are now calling the "mini Hercules" . the 5ft 7in scrum-half is the man who stands out as England's main threat in the final. neat bit of trickery by leading goalscorer GONZALO (22) saw him flick the ball over the head of his marker and then jab it past the goalie for his 6th of the season. Just desserts for the attacking way Monte approached the second half. Guardamar, stung by this, attempted to rally, but their subsequent efforts were either long-range or wildly inaccurate and the game finished with celebrations both on and off the pitch. Man of the Match was Luis, selected by match sponsor The Courtyard. Pleasingly, Monte showed another side to their game this time out, resilience (coupled with some wonderful football) after surprisingly going a goal down. CARABAO CUP ROUNDUP The Carabao Cup continued on Tuesday, with the domestic cup competition reaching the round of 16 stage. It was a chance for many EFL sides to make their mark in the competition and a potential money-spinning Quarter final tie. A few of the Premier League elite sides were still in the hat for their chance to win the first available trophy this season. 5 of the 8 matches were on Tuesday, with Premier League sides featuring in 3 of the 5.
they followed up their 9-0 humiliation by Leicester with a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad on Tuesday evening. Sergio Aguero was in the right place at the right time throughout the match and caused Southampton all sorts of problems from the first whistle as Machester City's attacking prowess proved too much for the Saints.
The fairytale continued for League Two side Colchester United as they booked their place in the quarterfinals with a superb 3-1 win at Crawley Town on Tuesday night. And the U's could be pitted against the likes of Manchester City, Everton or Leicester City who all made their way through in convincing fashion.
Ralph Hasenhuttl's men never really got into the game, with City seeing as much as 87% possession.
Attendances last year in The Carabao cup were the highest for 10 years. Last years competition saw over 1.2 million people enter football grounds all over the country to watch their team in action and current predictions are that ticket sales will be higher this season. And the U's could be pitted against the likes of Manchester City, Everton or Leicester City who all made their way through Southampton's woes continued as
Everton had an unlikely hero as they booked their place in the quarter-finals with two late goals from Brazilian star Richarlison and an unlikely goalscorer in Mason Holgate against Watford. Marco Silva will be a relieved man after the victory with the pressure being mounted on him after Everton's recent league form Defender Holgate, scoring his first-ever goal for the club latching on to a Theo Walcott cross. Watford pressed in the last 10 minutes for the equaliser until Richarlison added a second in stoppage time after a quick counter Leicester City continued their goal scoring form and booked their

place in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal after a 3-1 win over Burton Albion. Last years Quarter finalists Burton had some great spells throughout and went toe to toe with the former Premier League champions but Brendan Rodgers men seemed to take their chances when it really mattered. Kelechi Iheanacho scored his second goal of the season in the 7th minute to ease the nerves and the foxes never looked back. Iheanacho superbly linked up with teammate Youri Tielemans before scoring Leicester City's opener. Tielemans made it 2-0 for Leicester in the 20th minute as he latched on
to Dennis Praet pass before superbly slotting home. Liam Boyce pulled one back for Burton in the 54th minute before James Maddison scored late on to secure the victory for the Premier League high flyers. There was also and all EFL clash between Oxford United and Phil Parkinson's Sunderland which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Kassam Stadium with goals from Oxford's Rob Hall and a late equaliser from The Black Cats Marc Mcnulty. The game then went straight to penalties which Oxford once again scored all their penalties and secured a 4-2 victory.
