ELECTION TIME (AGAIN)
DECOMPOSED BODY FOUND The Guardia civil and firefighters of Torrevieja were made aware of a strong smell coming from a first-floor apartment in Bella Antonio street, Torrevieja., last week.
This weekend Spain returns to the ballot box once again, in an attempt to unwind the tangles of the previous national votes, which had left no majority to govern, and an inability for agreements to form an adequate coalition.
The leading figures of the election campaign, Pablo Casado, Pedro Sánchez, Santiago Abascal, Pablo Iglesias and Albert Rivera, the leaders of the PP, PSOE, VOX, Podemos and Ciudadanos respectively, have all participated in debates this week, and of course been on the electoral trail around the country, with speculation changing with each day as to who the likely victors will be. With topics ranging from the moving of Franco´s body to
After gaining access using a ladder truck they discovered the body of a 40-year-old man that has sadly passed away and been in the property for 6 days. It was said the man suffered from a mental illness.
DRUNK BEING JUDGED gender violence, and the economy and Catalan independence all hot during the debate, it is likely down to a few crosses on the ballot box once again to determine if a majority will rule the country, or if the heads of opposition can get down to business and form a
coalition based on the outcome of this latest attempt to give power to the people to decide. The elections will take place on Sunday with the results later that night. Foreign residents are not eligible to vote in national elections.
TORREVIEJA COUNCIL PROMOTES TOURISM The world travel market was held in London on November 7th with Torrevieja council attending in a bid to promote tourism. SCHOOL DAY PROPOSAL RECOGNISED In an event that some might consider rare, the town hall on the Orihuela Costa became the centre of education, when a working committee gathered to discuss the needs, past, present and future, of education across the municipality. The meeting was arranged by the councillor for Education, Ramón López, who met with the school community of Orihuela, directors and representatives of the parents and teachers associations, in order to consolidate the information relating to the start of the school year, one which began very differently due to the flooding caused by the September DANA. According to Ramón López, “we have been able to talk about such important issues as the Edificant Plan, school transport and the maintenance of schools”, explaining how, “the Department of Education wants to resume the proposal that began in 2017 through the School Council of the Valencian Community that is to name
October 30 as the Day for Schools, in honour of Miguel Hernández, our universal poet that was born a day like today 109 years ago.” It was an initiative that “has had unanimity and that from now on the school councils of the centres of Orihuela will carry the proposal of support for that initiative of which we also have the collaboration of the two centres that are associated in the UNESCO network, both San José Obrero and the Hurchillo Public Schools,” said López, who added that “ with this we started the process based on the school councils of each centre, the Municipal School Council and the full municipal corporation so that the procedure reaches UNESCO and is declared on October 30 as School Day”.

ROJALES REMEMBERS Students from the "La Encantá" high school inf Rojales have paid tribute to one of the most famous literary stars of the area, the poet Miguel Hernández. Under the direction of their teacher, José Carmelo Manresa, and with the collaboration of the Department of Culture the students created an extraordinary work of art that not only showcases the cultural importance, but also decorates a previously rundown information board by creating a mural dedicated to the poet Miguel Hernández on the anniversary of his birth. The board, which is over five square meters, has been placed in a strategic
place of the municipality, the east access of the town centre of Rojales, to be seen by the largest number of people in this tribute to the internationally renowned poet. The painting includes elements alluding to Miguel Hernández and the municipality "a tribute on the 109th anniversary of his birth, of those who only let him live 32 years," said the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture, Immaculate Chazarra. "Our universal poet and his memory will always remain among us, and with this little tribute we want to remember his figure as a writer and person, and as a defender of freedoms," says the councillor.

A SEA OF ALMOST 100 PEOPLE CELEBRATE THE BATTLE OF TRAFALGAR A tribute to Lord Horatio Nelson Trafalgar Night and Naval traditions and commemoration of the 214th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar was held in the time-honoured tradition by the Royal Naval Association Torrevieja Branch at their Annual Trafalgar Night celebration on the 21st October 2019 at the MASA Hotel in Torrevieja. THE TRUE COST OF ‘FREE’ FINANCIAL ADVICE. By Sam Kelly, Managing Partner, Chorus Financial. It’s a gimmick we’re well used to here in Spain and one that had led many in our community down a very dangerous path. We’re all aware of the phrase ‘if it sounds too good to be true’ but sadly when people think they’re getting a bargain, all common sense goes out the window. So many financial advice firms here essentially try to convince you that they are not charging for their advice, but this could not be further from the truth. So how does it really work? Well, what you’re being told is free in fact turns out to be a greatly inflated cost to you, which in many cases can run to £10,000s of layered fees per year. In Spain, as in the UK, an investment bond is a very common investment structure. Bonds can offer tax efficiency, IHT mitigation, ease of annual accounting and other benefits, and there is a number available that have been specifically designed for Brits living in Spain and ratified by the Spanish tax authorities. These products do not pose a problem in themselves, but the charging structures behind them are often dictated by the financial adviser, rather than the product provider. What this means is you could end up agreeing to a grossly inflated fee payable over 5, 8 or 10 years which facilitates an eye-
watering commission paid to your financial adviser on the very first day – we’ve seen these commissions run as high as 8%.
Remember, these arrangements can be sophisticated, often layered and complex, and it can be very hard for an unsuspecting victim to identify what they’re really signing up to and what the real cost of that ‘free’ advice is.
Inevitably, the same advisers who choose to exploit such structures are also likely to be the ones who further exploit you when it comes to the actual investment funds. A bond is effectively a tax wrapper or basket, similar to an ISA. Your adviser’s job, once they’ve put you into this bond, is to choose what funds should fill that basket to achieve your required investment outcomes.
At Chorus, we do offer the initial part of the advice process for free. This is our opportunity to demonstrate why our proposal is ultimately better for you than other firms in the area. We do not believe it is fair to charge a client for the opportunity to compare their options.
The correct approach to this process is for your adviser to use their experience and expertise to build you a diverse portfolio of high-quality funds, the very best available in the market, offering fair value and the best possible opportunity to help achieve your investing goals. Sadly, what we see here in Spain is advisers placing you in a handful of ‘exclusive’ or ‘in-house’ funds, that end up paying them even further
commissions, as much as 5% more, with greatly increased annual fund charges. We’ve even seen situations with some of the larger companies where the fund managers, bond providers and financial advice company are so entrenched that their entire offering is essentially ‘inhouse’. Clients can find themselves trapped in a low-quality plan costing as much as 5% per annum for a decade. Once a client has signed the paperwork there is very little a good IFA can do short of recommending they pay the ridiculously high exit charges and start another plan altogether.
When it comes down to our final recommendation, we’ll tell you very clearly about what charges you’ll be paying for each element of the plan should you decide to go ahead. This allows you to make that decision with your eyes fully open. Unlike the majority of companies here, we can offer plans, both pension based and Spanish compliant, with ZERO tie-in and ZERO exit fees from exactly the same provider’s other firms will try to tie you into for many years. If you’re considering a pension transfer or a tax-efficient investment here in Spain it is essential to compare your options and ensure the advice you receive is transparent, fair and suitable. A SIGN OF THE PAST A road sign has become the centrepiece of the displays at the Arqueológico Comarcal San Juan de Dios arachnological museum in Orihuela.
The regional archaeological museum of Orihuela is in the former municipal hospital San Juan de Dios, and houses exhibits representing different aspects of life and culture across the Vega Baja, from the Palaeolithic to the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. This month, the centrepiece at the museum is something from a time closer to our own, it is a road sign which, according to the councillor for
historical heritage, Rafael Almagro, is "the mandatory address signage plate, made of iron and enamelled in navy blue, which was located in the Civil War anti-aircraft shelter of Calle Santa Justa de Orihuela." These road signs "were intended to inform the traveller of their position both the distance already travelled, and how far they still have to go" said Leticia Pertegal, author of the piece of the month information sheet which accompanies the exhibit. The piece in question can be seen at the museum and is enamelled in navy

blue and with a drawing of a person with a car indicating the direction of the road, which says “Vía para Poniente”, hence it is assumed that it indicated the direction towards the neighbouring city of Murcia. As for the drawing that is illustrated on the plaque, “it is quite clear and explicit, a person with a car, which reflects the importance of the image in front of the text, mainly because of the illiteracy of the population, and also indicates the scarce or non-existent presence of motor vehicles in the city of Orihuela”, said the municipal archaeologist, Emilio Diz.
The technique used for this plate that is made of enamelled iron and in the years 1861-1862 the City Council of Orihuela ordered this type of sign for the streets. This technique was also used in the cartelism of large brands and multinationals
until
the
second
half of the twentieth century as an advertising image in establishments and companies. It should be noted that this technique is still used today in the creation of posters for decorative use.

WATER WAY TO EDUCATE The Foundation Aquae, which was created by the local water supply company Hidraqua, has chosen both the Orihuela and Elche municipalities as recipients of funding for the first Aquae STEM, a national program to promote scientific and technological vocations for girls to help reduce the gender gap in careers and professions.
STEM, which is an acronym of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, will offer vocational training for 3,500 girls from 50 Spanish schools, and will also involve work for their parents and their teachers. Amelia Navarro, director of Sustainable Development at Hidraqua stressed that "although we are still confirming which schools will participate in this program, we plan for 10 educational centres across the region in the municipalities of Torrent, Alicante, Benidorm, Orihuela, Elche and San
Vicente del Raspeig, reaching up to 500 young people". Aquae STEM includes methods of education that help to develop confidence in students to define and solve problems and design their own solutions through exploration and scientific methods. The program incorporates activities using methodologies capable of encouraging students to awaken interest in STEM knowledge while also enhancing their collaboration skills, communication and creativity. In the social and educational commitment, other initiatives such as the 13,500 students who have participated in its educational campaigns during visits both in the classrooms and to natural areas and museums linked to water in the hope of encouraging hands-on educational practices based around the subject of water and conservation.

Data Protection Education Day Representatives from municipal councils across the province will be in Alicante this weekend, attending a training course specifically to advise them about data protection legislation which came into force in December last year, but many local authorities and companies are still failing in their compliance. The provincial government spokesman and deputy of Innovation and digital agenda, Adrián Ballester, stressed that “from the Diputación de Alicante we want to offer and provide the municipalities of the province with

The meeting, which has the collaboration of the Spanish Agency for Data Protection and the European Union-T4DATA Project, is aimed at mayors, councillors, provincial deputies, secretaries, auditors, directors of legal advice, lawyers of governments and local administrations, other officials, teachers and anyone interested.

SELF-ABANDONMENT Staying in line with meeting your own needs can sometimes be a hard task, especially if you have abandonment issues. Abandonment issues come from not having your needs met emotionally, physically and mentally when you were a child. And this generally comes from your parents or main caregivers not having the best parenting themselves.

It may manifest as tightening of the chest, shallow breathing, stomach ache, headache or a number of other sensations, that are extremely uncomfortable and that you desperately want to escape from. Food is generally something most children go to, to self soothe as it is more accessible when we are young,
One of the easiest ways to overcome negative selfsoothing is to re-parent yourself. Mothers generally

As we get older we have more negative self-soothing tools to hand and so we move further into the cycle of self-abandonment, which ultimately reinforces our feelings of lack of self, love and worth. If the cycle isn't broken then in time our condition can worsen and we begin to experience depression and even serious illnesses.
When you selfabandon, you give way to selfsoothing in ways that are generally detrimental to your well being in whatever form. It may be you eat too much or drink too much, you may go towards drugs or even shopping, to distract the feelings inside of discomfort or not feeling worthy or enough. Relationships are commonplace for self-abandonment to occur, as you look to your partner or prospective partner to meet those needs that were not met as a child, and when they don't do this, it is your inner child that is crying out.

and this can soon develop into eating disorders we feel we have no control over. And this is reinforced by the fact that our triggers can frequently manifest in feelings within and around the stomach area, similar to hungry. When we self-soothe, we also gain what we believe to be relief from the discomfort, but it really is only a distraction
With all this in mind, re-parenting really is the way forward and is key in our recovery. If we learn to nurture ourselves like a good mother would, feeding ourselves healthy food and getting regular exercise we are ultimately loving ourselves. If we speak kindly to ourselves and about ourselves and encourage and celebrate each positive step we make, we grow in confidence. When we work towards providing a roof over our heads, food on the table and money in the bank for our bills we feel secure. And when we create boundaries around keeping ourselves safe from people and things that are no good for us or put us at

As human beings there really is no time scale as to becoming the best version of ourselves, I believe we are all at different stages on our own paths and it is never too late to work through our issues. And this is also dependant on the levels of damage that we have experienced through no fault of our own. Most of our parents did the best they could, based on their own experiences and awareness of how they needed to heal. Some do the work, some don't manage it. But the best place to start with our own healing is aiming to forgive those that in most cases did not intentionally do us wrong, but were just fumbling about in their own pain and darkness, trying to do the best they could. If you feel like you have selfabandonment issues that are keeping you in ever-decreasing circles, why not contact me and finally free yourself from being trapped in the past.

CBD- WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? CBD or Cannabidiol is the name on everyone's lips right now. And it's no wonder, but some of us are still in the dark when it comes to this natural plant-based oil. As well as fears of getting a high that might take us somewhere we don't want to go, we are also unsure as to which to buy and how much to use. With all this in mind, I decided to shed light on this alternative form of therapy and give it the kudos it does deserve. Derived from the Hemp cannabis plant which also produces THC or tetrahydrocannabinol the psychoactive part, CBD, is known for its calming and relaxing influence, which has no common side effects. There are 2 types of Cannabis plant 'Hemp' and 'Marijuana' and CBD is taken from the Hemp variety where there is a lower amount of THC (Around
0.3%) So apart from the odd allergic reaction which can occur with any substance, if you buy a good quality CBD oil that has been rigorously tested, you will be getting a great product. Whilst tests are still ongoing for CBD, if you are looking for a pain killer of higher strength, it has been noted that THC seems to be more effective if combined with the CBD, and due to THC providing psychoactivity when taken, it can only be accessed via a prescription. That said there have been claims of great relief from the combination of both for people suffering serious illness and disease, such as cancer. There have also been people who have tried CBD for epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and arthritis and noticed vast improvements. However, it is recommended that you speak to your doctor when considering CBD if you are also taking other medications. So, you may be wondering why CBD is effective? As human beings, we have what is called an endocannabinoid system which regulates our immune systems and also our sleep, pain, and hunger. And when we take CBD
it enhances the system reducing inflammation and interacting with the pain neurotransmitters. Therefore allowing us to gain substantial relief from pain and greater relaxation. If you are concerned about the legalities of this product, then it is reassuring to know that CBD is a legal product, whereas Marijuana (which contains THC) is only legal in 11 states of the USA. Medicinal Marijuana (which also contains THC) is legal in 33 states. You may also be thinking about those famous coffee shops in Amsterdam, that have much more than coffee on their menu's and wondering how marijuana can be smoked so freely there? Well in simple terms Holland decriminalized Cannabis in 1976, stating that it could be used in some coffee shops and that a person may have 5 grams on their person, but no more. Most CBD oils that come from the whole of the plant are bought blended with a carrier oil such as coconut or Hemp seed. And it usually states on the packaging what percentage of the oil it contains. Most commonly are 5 to 20%. Dosage does not as yet have set guidelines as research is still being
undertaken, but most people start on low dosages and can work their way up to as much as 20 drops or more a day, depending on why they are taking it. So it is down to the individual, but due to it being a natural product, there have yet to be any severe adverse reactions, based on dosage. It seems that the most popular use for CBD is currently in the treatment of anxiety and stress. With some therapists now recommending it alongside therapy. Again we need to remember that as human beings we need to have balance in our lives in all areas, and, that if we are not caring for ourselves natural supplements are highly unlikely to provide their full effects. If you are interested in CBD as a health supplement, CBD Espana has a wonderful range of products. From natural to flavoured oils to gummies. Vape oils, face and body products, and even teas. They also have a selection of oil-infused items for assisting with fat burning, sleeping, re-energizing and men's health. You can see the full range at the following link https://www.cbdespania. com/?rfsn=3311460.3fd72c

Around 80 people will be taking part in the cross-country race which will take place on the Camino de Castilla, in front of the Bonavista Urbanization.

The models in question are the Audi A4 (2005-2008 models), A4 Cabrio (2007-2009 models) and A6 (2005- models) 2011).
The event will be attended by the councillor for Sports, Vicente Alberola, and the president of the Moto Club, Manuel Rodriguez, amongst others.

PANIC ON THE STREETS OF LONDON the mode of travel of the future, on 9 November way back in 1900, the Automobile Club of Great Britain and Ireland sponsored an electric car endurance trial. The race had begun 3 days ago but ended on 9th, won by a car named ‘Powerful’. It covered an impressive 59 miles at an average speed of 10mph. Although the first section of the M1 motorway, between Junction 5 (Watford) and Junction 18 (Crick/ Rugby), together with the motorway’s two spurs, the M10 (from Junction 7 to south of St Albans originally connecting to the A1) and the M45 (from Junction 17 to the A45 and Coventry, had opened earlier in the week, it was on Sunday 8 November that the first real test of endurance took place. Sightseers flocked to try out the new road which, when it first opened, had no speed limits, no lighting, and it wasn´t until 1973 that crash barriers were announced. Unfortunately, on this first weekend of opening, many drivers panicked on the approach roads and even in the central reservation, unable to cope with what is now one of the UK´s busiest roads. There was another motorway landmark this week as on 10 November 1971 the 10-route “Spaghetti Junction” interchange was opened north of Birmingham city centre, incorporating the A38 (M) (Aston Expressway) and the southern section of the M6 motorway. The interchange would have a total of 12 routes when the final stretch of the M6 was opened the following year.
Hoverboards aren´t new either by the way nor are they just a futuristic invention from the movies, as on 9 November 1969 the world’s first ‘Hover Scooter’ - a combination of a hovercraft and a scooter - was demonstrated on land and water in Long Ditton in Surrey. The vehicle was nothing more than a seat and handlebars on top of an extremely noisy fan. The spinning fan produced a six-inch cushion of air to keep the scooter just barely floating above the ground, allowing it to hover over land or water with ease. Although we do try to focus on British motoring history in this section, we must this week give an honorary mention to the city of Budapest. At 3 am on 9 November 1941 drivers in the city switched from driving on the left to driving on the right. If that wasn´t going to be confusing enough for some, the rest of Hungary had already changed at 3 am on 6 July!

HOW WOMEN QUIETLY CHANGED MOTORING We have a very special mention in our motoring history section this week for a woman who changed the history of motoring, yet didn´t benefit from her invention. Mary Anderson, from Birmingham Alabama, was riding a tram through New York. It was a freezing cold and wet winters day around the early 1900s. Mary noticed that the driver could hardly see where he was going through the windscreen, and she watched as he tried to ease visibility, as the tramcar had a system whereas one front window could open to allow the driver to wipe another of the windows, moving snow or rain out of his line of view, this rudimentary system meant the driver, and some of the passengers sitting near the front, would get a chilling taste of the outside world at the same time. Seeing an obvious problem in front of her, Mary began to sketch a design whilst riding the tram. After a few failures, she came up with a prototype that worked: a set of wiper arms that were made of wood and rubber and attached to a lever near the steering wheel of the drivers’ side. When the driver pulled the lever, it dragged the spring-loaded arm across the window and back again, clearing away raindrops, snowflakes or other debris. A counterweight was used to ensure contact between the wiper and the window. When winter was over, the wipers could be removed and stored until the next year. On November 10, 1903, the patent office awarded U.S. Patent No. 743,801 to Mary Anderson for her “window cleaning device for electric cars and other vehicles to remove snow, ice or sleet from the window.” Operated via a lever from inside a
vehicle, her version of windshield wipers closely resembles the windshield wiper found on many early car models. When she received her patent, Anderson tried to sell it to a Canadian manufacturing firm, but the company refused: The device had no practical value, it said, and so was not worth any money. Though mechanical windshield wipers were standard equipment in passenger cars by around 1913, Anderson never profited from the invention. People scoffed at Anderson’s invention, saying that the wipers’ movement would distract the driver and cause accidents. Her patent expired before she could entice anyone to use her idea. The invention of the windscreen wiper was featured in an episode of the cartoon The Simpsons, during a debate between Marge, Homer and Bart, about gender equality: Marge: “Well, a woman also invented the windshield wiper!” Homer: “Which goes great with another male invention, the car!” In 1917, a woman named Charlotte Bridgewood patented the “Electric Storm Windshield Cleaner,” an automatic wiper system that used rollers instead of blades. (Bridgewood’s daughter, the actress Florence Lawrence, had invented the turn signal.) Like Anderson, Bridgewood never made any money from her invention.

A LITTLE ITALY IN ESPAÑA A last-minute decision to pop into the new 'Isabela's' Italian restaurant on Saturday night, was far from a mistake. My friend and I were greeted at the door by the waiter, who kindly showed us to a table for 2 and quickly brought us menus, followed by a crisp glass of medium white and a fruity rosé from the extensive wine menu. Not wanting to be greedy, we decided to share 'Bruschetta al Pomodoro' to start and a 'Tagliatelle al Scampi' for me and a 'Penne Alla Matriciana' for my dinner guest. The starter was a delicious, lightly toasted Italian bread with just the right amount of olive oil, garlic and onions, topped with sweet cherry tomatoes which we soon polished off in anticipation of our next dish. The main courses soon arrived and we both dove into the freshest of pasta. The Tagliatelle was slathered in a not too creamy sauce, with perfectly cooked gambas, freshly seasoned. The 'Penne Alla Matriciana' had a smooth, tomato-based sauce, perfectly blended with onions, garlic and crispy bite-size pieces of bacon. Surprisingly full after our mains, we decided we really couldn't miss out on a dessert and opted for the 'Banoffee' we knew at this point we wouldn't be disappointed! A crunchy, biscuit base, layered with toffee and bananas, topped off with fresh cream it certainly delivered and left us no room sadly for an Italian expresso. But we vowed to return. If you fancy an authentic Italian meal served by attentive staff and fabulous views, do pay Isabela's, located upstairs at the Centro Lomas de Cabo Roig, a visit. ( I shall be going early next time to enjoy the fabulous views offered at sunset. And I may just take my coffee in their luxurious lounge area afterwards.) Open Monday to Saturday with entertainment every night, it really doesn't matter whether you choose to have their fabulous value for money, menu del dia at only 10.95 euros for 3 courses. Or order from the main menu. Give them a call on 642 039 490 and book your table to avoid disappointment. Bellisimo!!

AT A CANTER RUTHLESS MONTE CRUSH ALBATERA TEAM:- 13 Carlos, 4 Pepe, 7 Lucas, 9 Manu Sanchez, 12 Diego Barroso, 14 Pamies, 19 Luis, 22 Gonzalo, 23 Maccan, 2 Andres, 5 Manu. SUBs:- 21 Santos, 8 German, 10 Alfredo, 15 Diego, 20 Dimitri. This match-up was billed as a top of the table clash, but in reality, Montesinos took this game by the scruff of the neck from the start and didn't stop until the final blast. Roared on by a boisterous crowd (estimates ranged from 700 to 1000) they flew out of the traps with one intent, to win and win convincingly. Like a red tide, the slow, sometimes ponderous, play of their opponents was simply swept aside as wave
after wave of attacks rolled on. Albatera looked visibly shaken as their clearly undermanned midfield struggled to cope with quick closing and precise passing. The first goal though came from a blunder from the man in the middle who, failing to spot that
he was at least 2 metres offside allowed LUCAS (7) to run on and slide the ball underneath the advancing keeper. The home bench and crowd were incandescent, but the goal stood. Further attacks came and within minutes Monte had their deserved second when a perfect pinpoint cross-field ball from the rapidly improving Diego Barroso (12) led to MACCAN (23) smashing the ball home for his fourth of the season. Albatera were more than happy to get to the break not conceding more. HT: CF Sporting Albatera A 0 2 CD Montesinos Tactical changes by Albatera in the second half stymied some of Monte's attacking prowess, but all too often, any slim advantage gained by Albatera was nullified by their ove r- c a u ti o u s approach. The midfield and defence of Montesinos snuffed out most threats and if they did get through, the ever-reliable Carlos (13) in goal tidied up. In truth, Albatera didn't look remotely like a top of the table side, because Monte simply outplayed and outfought them in every department. The final glimmer of hope for the
home side was snuffed out when midfield maestro Luis (19) set up MANU SANCHEZ (9) to finish well from an acute angle, into a totally un-defended goal area. The game finished as it had started, with Monte on top and looking good value for their win. This game truly ranks as one of the best performances I've witnessed recently by a Montesinos side. Driven on by a large, noisy crowd, they rose imperiously to the big occasion. Montes passing was quick and inventive. Their movement was always intelligent and purposeful. They worked hard to get the ball back when they occasionally lost it. Their game management was sublime and they always played at their tempo. They always looked comfortable and in control. I think we're talking about all the hallmarks of championship winning sides, aren't we? FT: CF Sporting Albatera A 0 3 CD Montesinos Match report by Official Chief Sports Correspondent Steve Robinson Photo's Terry Harris MATCH 9.....CD Montesinos are at home to play Atl Benejuzar, on Saturday 9th November 2019. Kick-off is 6.00pm. The game is sponsored by Roberto Blue.

Monday’s ‘counter game’ was the version where the number of scores to count was known before each hole was played. Making her debut appearance as a guest, Lauraine Walker found herself in the winning team alongside John Shervell, Paul Brown and the fictional Albert. Of their total 94 points, Paul contributed 36 of them! Second spot went to Pat Cassidy, John Dobsson, Mike Chapman and Annemarie Weisheit with a total of 92 points. Thanks to ‘Mick the Grip’ who was on hand to say a few words on behalf of The Royal British Legion after Wednesday’s annual Poppy Day Stableford. All our top six winners generously donated their winnings back to the cause. In first
place, with 37 points, it was that man again Mike Chapman. He was followed in by Trevor Pullyblank with 36 and four players, Han Van Loon, Terry Cullen and Nick Lee, all carded 34 points. Nearest the pins on the 6th, 10th and 14th went to Yvonne Phipps, Pat Cassidy and Mike Mahony. Having to play into a fairly strong wind, not one man managed to get onto the long 12th from the tee! For the ladies it was Liz Robertson who was closest in two. A certain Henry Beard is responsible for this week’s quote; ‘Play it as it lies’ is one of the fundamental dictates of golf. The other is ‘Wear it if it clashes’. Pues hasta la semana que viene Peter Reffell

A MASSIVE WEEKEND IN THE TITLE RACE It's a huge weekend ahead in the title race including a vital game at the top of the table between Manchester City and Liverpool, The tension between the 2 titlechasers has already begun after Pep Guardiola's comments regarding Sadio Mane in last weekends fixture. Guardiola clarified his 'diving' comments on Mane yesterday after Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was angered by the interview the Spaniard gave in the wake of the controversial and exciting action in the league last weekend. Both sides showed their fighting spirit last week as City came back from 2-1 down to beat Southampton and Liverpool managed a goal in the last minute of the game to overcome Aston Villa. Jurgen Klopp's men go into Sunday's match with a 6 point lead so Manchester City will be hoping to at least avoid defeat in the match so the gap doesn't
extend to nine points which will be a lot to claw back between now and May. Leicester City, who are now considered outsiders for the title also have a tough match against Arsenal. Brendan Rodgers men are currently sitting pretty in third place and 6 points ahead of fifth-place Arsenal. Jamie Vardy has scored more goals than any other player in the Premier League since Brendan Rodgers took over and he will be keen to add to his tally this weekend. Arsenal are going through their own struggles at the moment and it has recently been revealed that Grant Xhaka has been stripped of the captaincy by Unai Emery after his confrontation with the Arsenal fans two weeks ago. Emery announced that Xhaka was no longer part of the Arsenal leadership team and that he accepted the decision. The Gunners boss told the media "I think we need to take time with him, first to protect him and also to be calm

and training with us every day. But I was speaking with him this morning and also I decided he's not one of the captains in our group and I decided that and I told him this morning," In other fixtures over the weekend. Frank Lampard's exciting young Chelsea side take on Crystal Palace in Saturday's early kickoff. There are likely to be some changes after Chelsea's crazy 4-4 draw with Ajax on Tuesday. Southampton take on Everton who scored in the 97th minute to secure a draw against Tottenham last week. Spurs take on high flying Sheffield United and Newcastle host Eddie Howe's Bournemouth. The other Saturday 4.00 pm kickoff sees Burnley taking on West Ham at Turf Moor.
Sunday's two early kickoffs are also exciting fixtures. A huge game in the Midlands between Wolves and Aston Villa takes place at Molineux with both sides guaranteed to be attacking from the off. The other game will see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's struggling Manchester United side take on a brave and organised Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
