Orihuela Emergency Centre Operational by 2020 : Inset - Foundation stone laying in 2010
Standing as nothing more than a skeleton on the Orihuela Costa, symbolic of broken promises and austerity, the emergency coordination centre on the Orihuela Costa may finally be realised, as the contract to complete the building is being put out to tender. The spokesperson for the local government, José Aix, made the announcement this week that
the board has approved the start of a file that commences the administrative process that could ultimately see the centre, which would house the police, Guardia Civil, fire and ambulance services, completed. The tender has a budget of 2,194,913 euros, with an execution period of just 10 months. Surrounded by pomp and ceremony, the foundation stone
was laid in September 2010 by the then-mayor, Monica Lorente, with a time capsule containing local newspapers, coins, a CD and certificate detailing the project signed by Lorente, and the Interior Minister of the Valencian Community, Serafín Castellano, being buried in the foundations. Although great news on the day, unbeknown to anyone in

THE FLOOD – THE MOVIE The devastating effects of flooding caused by the DANA in September are to be the subject of a movie, thanks to a director born in Orihuela. Elena López Riera announced the news in a meeting with reporters at the Gijón International Film Festival, in which four short films of her work were being shown. The director said she is working on the screenplay for a feature film about the floods in her village, whilst also expressing concern that in a land where rain was an event unlikely it is now so intense causing real disasters to occur. The Gijón Film Festival has scheduled the screening of her short: "People", "Viscera", "Those who want" and "More than my luck." The director noted that in her earlier works she has tried to
GAS UP
As always seems to be the case when we need it most, the price of a bottle of butane gas has gone up, increasing by 4.9% to 12.75 euro per normal sized bottle, a 60 cent hike on the last increase in September, although still cheaper than last November develop a poetic visual style because she when the price was considers poetry as "the only language 15.33 euro. that allows complete freedom". She has defended improvisation as a form of work, since "none" of her films were developed according to the original idea. "I like that the development of the project surprised me and even contradict me," she said. Film buffs might remember The Impossible, a 2012 English-language Spanish disaster drama film directed by J. A. Bayona and written by Sergio G. Sánchez, based on the experience of María Belón and her family in the 2004, Boxing Day, Indian Ocean tsunami. Much of this movie was filmed in the studios at Alicante where a special water tank was built to recreate the devastation of the natural disaster.

Orihuela Costa Centre Emergency Centre put to Tender Continued from page 1 attendance, time would then stop for almost a decade after the original contractor fell bankrupt and political battles ensued amid protests and claims of corruption and abandonment of the coast. The centre will feature a control room able to dispatch units to emergency situations around the entire Vega Baja, offices, locker rooms and rest areas for emergency workers who are on duty. It may also include a helipad and space for all the vehicles needed by the first responders. Although promises have been made for the last decade, if this latest news does come to fruition then it would see the centre fully operational by the end of 2020.

Ryanair Bag Charge Defeated in Court
With just weeks left until the end of the year, Alicante-Elche Airport has broken its record for the number of passengers carried and is now looking to beat that figure next year. On Monday, a passenger from Eindhoven was officially recorded as the 14 millionth through the terminal, a passenger who, it turns out, is a frequent flyer to the Costa Blanca. The aim next year is to have more than the 14 million people through the terminal and the winter season is already set to start the year with a positive mood, as the season, which started in October and ends in March 2020, offers 149 direct routes to 23 countries. This year has seen growth of 8%, which is considerable considering the

bleak headlines of Brexit and Thomas Cook, amongst others, claiming that Spain was losing its edge as a tourist destination. Far from it, we have seen that property sales continue to grow and now the same is clear from passenger numbers using the Elche-based airport as their travelling hub. In fact, just 5 years ago, the airport was welcoming just 5 million passengers, and so the growth to 14 million is astounding, making Alicante-Elche Airport the fifth busiest in Spain. If you want to avoid the crowds you might want to consider a different airport, as when we see that some days the terminal has seen 40,000 passengers and up to 200 daily operation, it is clear that the airport is both popular and busy at times.
Although the company are free to appeal, a court in Madrid has ruled that charging a supplement for loading a 10-kilo cabin bag in addition to a small bag, is an abusive commercial practice. Not only does Ryanair have to stop charging the fee in Spain, passengers who have already paid the charge are entitled to claim a refund from the airline. The ruling was declared by Commercial Court No. 13 of Madrid which it has condemned Ryanair to return the 20 euro billed to a passenger, who wanted to embark with two luggage packages in the cabin: a small handbag and a 10 kg suitcase. His ticket was not ‘priority’, so the company refused to board with the two items without having paid a supplement for the larger suitcase. The judge concluded that passengers have the right to travel with their hand luggage at no additional cost to the ticket price, as it does not entail extra cost for the company, and it is an “essential element” for the passenger. This is stated, the ruling explains, in the Air Navigation Law in its article 97, which obliges airlines to transport passenger hand luggage without any
additional cost on the ticket price. Thus, when making the differentiation between checked baggage (the one that is not essential for the traveller to fly and on which the company can do business) and the non-checked (hand luggage, which can be loaded with the traveller in the airplane), the ten kilos suitcase must fall into the category of unchecked . Under this premise, charging for transporting hand luggage is abusive in terms of general contracting conditions, as stated by the Madrid court. In this sense, the sentence is blunt: “contrary to what is claimed by the defendant, this change in Ryanair’s commercial policy regarding the rates applicable to hand luggage is not covered by Regulation 1008/2008, and can only be considered ‘abusive’ when severance of the rights that the passenger has recognised by law (art. 97 LNA) ”. Therefore, a “serious imbalance of benefits” is generated if it is allowed, concludes the judgment, to charge the passenger for the transport of this type of equipment. That is why these types of clauses must be declared void and “banished from the contract”.

Over a Million in Time Sheet Fines
Since the law came into force six months ago, companies have already ben fined a total of 1.2 million euro for either failing to keep employee time records, or for discrepancies arising from the data on file. It is a legal requirement for companies to keep a register of working time. The hourly registration applies to all working people, regardless of their category or professional group, and in all sectors of activity and companies, provided they are included in the scope of application defined in Article 1 of the Workers' Statute, which includes teleworking and other flexible hours formulas, as well as mobile workers such as commercial workers. The only exceptions are certain labour relations of a special nature, such as senior management staff. Between May and October, the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate has
completed 5,363 files related to the registration of working hours and working time, 3.9% more than in the immediately preceding semester (November 2018 to April 2019). In these files, 980 infractions have been found, 9.8% more than in the previous six months, which means that infringements in terms of working time have been detected in 18.3% of the companies inspected. In a separate case, the failure of a company to keep records has resulted in a successful case for an employee who claimed overtime. In this ruling by the Superior Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha, the burden of proof rested on a single testimony that the worker conducted more hours than contracted. The company, which has been condemned to pay for the overtime it claimed wasn´t carried out, lacked the means to control the employee's effective schedules. In these circumstances, the court has established that the only way the employee has to prove the abuse of the company is the testimony of third parties; A single contribution is enough to reverse the burden of proof against the company.

FOSTERING A PET
9 By Zoe Moran,President of Happy Pets animal rescue expenses, as well.
Fostering means bringing a homeless pet into your home to nurture them for a while until they are ready to leave to a permanent home with a family who will love them forever. Fostering is crucial in animal rescue. With shelters full to capacity, fostering allows rescues to continue to save lives outside of the shelter environment.
You'll make friends. Fostering pets opens up a whole new world filled with like minded people that share the same love for animals as you do. From making friends with other volunteers and foster carers, to keeping in touch with families who adopt your foster pets.
So what is so great about fostering, and how does it benefit both the animal and the human? Foster pets often come with a very sad past. They often experience neglect, mistreatment and suffer from injuries and trauma. Having a safe and comfortable place where they can receive care, love and recover from their past is important. A loving environment will help them grow and transform in no time. For many this will be their first time experiencing the warmth and love of a home. Fostering can be fun for your other pets. Adding a temporary family member can help your own pet grow in confidence and keep them company. You are saving a life. Every animal that goes into foster is one animal
less suffering on the streets. You are helping to free shelter space for other animals in need. Remember, not all heroes wear capes! Fostering a pet will make you feel wonderful. Watching a once broken animal transform into a happy and healthy pet is so rewarding. Your family will love it. Kids enjoy caring for foster pets and getting involved in their rehabilitation. Children especially enjoy the energy that kittens and puppies being into the home. And not to mention the skills and values
fostering can teach children. Fostering a pet is not only good for teaching children about empathy, but it also teaches responsibility, compassion, respect and patience. Fostering is easy! Speak to a local shelter or rescue group about how to get started. Give them a call or send them an email. Most rescues are desperately in need of foster families. They will be happy to hear from you. Rescues typically cover medical costs for fosters, sometimes they will help with food and any other day to day
Goodbye is a happy ending. Don't be put off fostering because the day will come to say goodbye. It's never easy to say goodbye to these special souls, but be proud of your excellent and important work. Without you there would be no happy ending. So look at it as a success instead of something sad. And remember, there will always be other animals in desperate need of a foster home! And sometimes, foster fails happen. When a certain animal touches your heart in a special way, you just know they are meant to stay. Adoption may be an option in some cases. You can do something big, or you can do something small, because whatever you do is better than doing nothing at all. Foster, adopt, rescue, advocate.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE “HOME” Many years ago I woke up, I don't mean from a deep sleep or a siesta after a leisurely lunch, I mean my soul kicked me so hard in the bottom, that I had no choice but to awaken from the self-denial of who I was and what was my purpose. And has hard as it has been at times and believe me it has been tough I haven't one single regret.
refused to deliver the joy and happiness I longed for, I finally turned within. I began to question how I treated myself and how I behaved towards others and the consequences of this. I learnt through the many books I read, films I watched and training I
lights you up if you don't know you have to do as much as possible until your feelings light your whole being up like Las Vegas and then you have to keep doing it. It's not about appreciating the little things as is often said, because
In the film the wizard of oz, Dorothy is transported with her cute little terrier Toto, into another plane where she meets different un-worldly characters that are struggling to come to terms with their truth, she travels with these characters through dangerous circumstances in which they learn to accept themselves and each other as individuals with faults and strengths. They learn to love each other regardless of how they deal with things. They take turns in becoming the hero and sometimes the hindrance as they each bring to the table their strengths at times of need. They also learn detachment, as one by one they end their journey with Dorothy and Toto. Throughout the whole story, each one of the characters is focused on one specific thing, in reaching the place they call "Home". "Home" for me is not a specific place in the world, it is a place within, where you feel comfortable and peaceful, wherever you may be. And my awakening propelled me into the search for my "Home". I had lived in many places at my time of awakening, due to my belief that happiness could be found in a place outside of myself, but as each place

he is the same as you, completely and are you aware your connection is much more than a gesture. Be grateful for it all because it's not a man's world its everyone's and everything's world. Learning to love yourself for who you are at present, without judgement of faults means peace can reside within you, you have plenty of time you know, as long as you keep searching! 'Home' I soon realised is not a place to be found overnight, it's a place that waits for you always, it's always there and I felt relief in knowing this, I stopped being scared of the unknown, because I became aware that everything that happens has a purpose, pain serves to teach us our lessons no matter how hard they are, pleasure reminds us of its' joy and that it can be accessed at any time to light the way when we are struggling with our path.
finally undertook that all the answers I needed were to be found inside myself. I wanted to know my truth, I began to realise that I could not live within the discoveries and truths of others and that I had to experience things for myself to discover who I was. And as my journey unfolded I realised that the journey home was the most important job I had, that without knowing me I would never know what home meant to me. Self-discovery means lots of things like knowing what

TO VAPE OR NOT TO VAPE? With so much confusion around what we should be doing or not doing in regards to our health, it's no surprise that so many of us find it hard to make an informed decision.
One minute we should be eating one thing and not another, taking a certain form of exercise or not, being aware of what's going on in the world regarding the news, or not indulging in such negative aspects that are going on around us. Health is not just about what we eat or drink, it's about what we allow into our being on a holistically. What has a positive effect on us as individuals? To know this we have to practice a level of self-discovery, to try different things and then process the information. Which in itself can be challenging with so much coming from the media and outside sources. Smoking tobacco has long since been a cool thing to do, but more recently and with the rise in cancer, health officials are now telling us it's bad for us and even putting warnings on cigarette packets. Which provides many of us with the challenge of breaking the
addiction of nicotine, physically and psychologically.
Vaping came onto the scene in 2011. A way to get a lower dose of nicotine mixed with different flavours in a liquid form, via inhalation. Whilst the advertising of this product promoted a way to lose the addiction to nicotine, there are now questions as to its efficiency. With Vaping on the uprise, could it be that it is quickly becoming the new addiction? Vaping solutions contain formaldehyde which is a carcinogen (a very strong disinfectant and fungicide.) Which has been related to cancer and other diseases of the heart. Combined with nicotine it's no surprise to learn that vaping presents itself as another serious health risk. With research on the increase regarding vaping devices, health officials have seen an increase in cardiovascular and respiratory systems, particularly in young people. With most predominantly inflammation in the lungs. There have also been recorded cases of seizures in people vaping due to ingesting higher
doses of nicotine than they have been used to. 'Popcorn lung' is a condition that has been related to vaping, as some of the fluids used have been proven to contain the chemical 'Diacytel', which is found in the flavouring of popcorn. A condition that can cause narrowing of the airways and shortness of breath, when inhaled. But it is not limited to either product. With 'Diacytel' being removed by many of the manufacturing companies, it shows the importance of choosing the right product. To smoke or vape is not the question
here, The answers lie in working on ourselves, ridding ourselves of addictions and creating lives that incorporate a natural release of dopamine in our brains, through finding our what we enjoy and what we love. When we do this we don't rely on external resources. If we are happy in mind, then our bodies become healthier....and happier. D DAY VETERAN CELEBRATES 100TH Percival Chafer celebrated his 100th birthday last week with two ‘bashes’. The first was held on the actual day of his birthday at Eduardos, Villamartin Plaza. That was last Tuesday night, a dinner with family and friends, and then on Friday, a much more informal party was held for the former ‘Desert Rat’ in Chemies Lounge, where the sprightly centenarian was entertained by Sunshine FM’s Dan Davy. Earlier in the week, Percy was also delighted to receive a birthday card signed personally by Queen Elizabeth II. The card was delivered by recorded post to Correos in Playa Flamenca from where it was picked up by son Tony. On Friday morning Percy had another surprise when he was visited by the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Orihuela Costa and District Branch of the Royal British Legion, Kevin Reardon and Eddie Coleman, who gave him a birthday card from members before presenting him with a Certificate of Loyal Service and Lifetime Honorary Membership of the Branch. Working on the railways at the time Percy was called up for active service shortly after the outbreak of WW2. After basic
training in Aldershot, he was moved to the north of Scotland from where he then set sail for the Middle East. Percy spent the next 3 years in Africa with the 7th armoured brigade, with whom he fought in many of the major battles in North Africa, including Operation Crusader in November. During that period he served in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, taking in Tobruk, Benghazi and Tripoli. In 1942 he moved to 30 Corps with whom he travelled back to Europe serving in the reclamation of France from June 1944 in the Allied Invasion of Normandy, and then in Operation Market Garden, in the Netherlands, and finally in Operation Veritable in Germany until May 1945. Picking up many awards and medals along the way, just 3 years ago at a ceremony held at the French Embassy in London, Percy was awarded the country’s highest distinction, the Légion d’honneur, by French Ambassador Sylvie Bermann. The presentation took place in the presence of Lord Howe, Deputy Leader of the House of Commons and Minister of State for Defence. Percy travelled back to his London home in Pimlico on Sunday but now, as a member
of the Orihuela Costa Branch of the RBL he says that his visits to Villamartin, where he shares an apartment with son Tony, will be much more frequent, as he intends to get to know the members of his new branch rather better.

la espinaca Spinach was one of Popeye's favourite foods, especially when he needed some extra strength to fight off his enemies.
Spinach is also a fabulous food for us mere mortals, rich in vitamins K, A, C and B12 and also a great source of Magnesium and Iron. With all this in mind, we must add this superfood to our diets. Here are some great recipes to make that are tasty and nutritious.
Green Spinach & Lemon Risotto with Crispy Prosciutto Ingredients • 750ml of chicken or vegetable stock • 100g spinach • 4 slices of prosciutto • 4tbsp olive oil • 10g butter • 1 leek(finely chopped) • 1 sprig of thyme • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped • 150g risotto rice • 75ml dry white wine • 30 g grated parmesan • 1/2 lemon juiced • 2tbsp double cream • 1 nutmeg grated for (topping) Method Pop stock into a saucepan and boil, Add spinach and parsley and cook for 25 mins, remove and leave to cool. Leave stock on low heat. Drain spinach and parsley and put into a blender. Add the 2tbsp of olive oil and 1 tbsp of water then finely blitz. Heat the rest of the oil in a frying pan and fry prosciutto. Then pop prosciutto onto a side plate and dab with a piece of kitchen roll to dry excess oil. Pop half the butter, thyme, leek and garlic in the frying pan and add salt and pepper, fry gently until leeks are soft. Now add the rice and coat in the garlic mix, then pour wine over and cook for 1 min, or until water has been absorbed. Add a large spoon or 2 of stock and cook until absorbed. Continue ladle by ladle until all used and keep stirring. Rice should now be creamy. Now remove from the pan and add remaining butter, parmesan, lemon zest and cream. Stir the spinach into the mix and add a little grated nutmeg. Pop onto 2 plates, top with the prosciutto and add a little more parmesan.
Saag Paneer Ingredients • 2tbsp Ghee • 1tsp Turmeric • 1tsp Kashmiri chilli powder • 450g paneer, cut into small cubes • 500g spinach • 1 large onion, finely chopped • 3 garlic cloves • 1-inch piece of garlic • 1 green chilli, finely chopped • 1tsp garam masala • 1/2 lemon, juiced Method Pop the ghee in a pan and melt, add turmeric and chilli and blend, add cubed paneer and mix. Microwave the spinach, and put in a sieve and drain, then roughly chop. Blitz the onion and add garlic, ginger and green chilli. Cook the paneer until golden. Remove and leave the spices in the pan. Put the onion mix into a pan, add salt and lower the heat. Add a touch of water and fry until golden. Add the garam masala and coat the onion mix. Add the spinach and cook again for about 2 mins, then add 11ml of water. Add the paneer and cook for 2 mins. Serve immediately with a touch of lemon juice squeezed over.
Mushroom & Spinach Omelette Ingredients • 1 tbsp olive oil • 1 Garlic clove crushed • 250g sliced mushrooms • 200g bag of spinach • 1 tsp crushed thyme leaves • 300g light soft cheese • 4tbs grated parmesan • 6 lasagne sheets Method Warm up the oven to about 200c/gas mark 6. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan, cook the garlic for 1 min. Then add mushrooms and thyme, until soft. Pop in the spinach, until the leaves are soft. Stir in the cheese and 1 tbsp of Parmesan. Put a third of the spinach at the bottom of a baking dish, lay 2 pasta sheets over, and repeat this process until all the pasta is used. End with the last of the spinach and sprinkle with parmesan. Now bake in the oven for 35 minutes until cooked and golden.

E-UP – IT´S GOT 260 KM AUTONOMY combined with very competitive prices, make the new e-up! The ideal car for a young and urban audience with an active lifestyle.
Volkswagen has launched what it is calling the “perfect urban car”, the new E-UP, which features a new battery pack allowing for 260 kilometres of autonomy, driven by its 100% electric propulsion system. Electric, urban and sustainable, these are three words that perfectly describe the mobility of the future and are also applicable to the new 100% electric model from Volkswagen. The German brand launches the Volkswagen e-up! In Spain, with which it reinforces its clear commitment to sustainable mobility in the city. The most urban model from Volkswagen comes with a new battery pack and improved autonomy compared to its predecessor, in addition to numerous assistants and design elements that make it a very attractive model. This,
One of the highlights of the brand new allelectric model is the new lithium-ion battery pack. This has a much higher capacity of 32.3 kWh compared to 18.7 kWh of previous models. In practice, it translates into a considerably greater autonomy: 260 km in WLTP cycle with a single load, about 100 kilometres more. The e-up! comes equipped with a CCS jack and a mode 3 cable and, connected to a 40 kW public charging socket, the vehicle's batteries can be recharged up to 80% in just one hour. It is also possible to manage and even program the vehicle's charge through the "maps + more" smartphone application, which has been renewed. The vehicle incorporates a 61 kW electric motor (83 hp) that allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.9 seconds and reach a maximum speed

of 130 km / h. All this, together with its compact dimensions, make the new e-up! a vehicle suitable for day-today use in the city, or even a weekend getaway. The new Volkswagen electric also highlights important developments in driver assistance, infotainment and safety, such as the lane maintenance assistant "Lane Assist", which detects lane lines through a multifunction camera, or the complete system of front and rear head airbags and front side airbags. Both these and the "Lane Assist" system come standard. The Composition Phone radio with Bluetooth interface also comes standard with the new e-up! In addition, the "maps + more" app has many additional features. Among others, the traffic signal recognition system is integrated, and allows, in addition to the load, to manage the "Climatronic" dualzone air conditioner, included as standard.

LET US SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK! If motor racing ticks the boxes for you then you can celebrate today, 29 November, as on this day in 1897 the world's first 2-wheeled motorcycle race was held. The riders went around an oval track at Sheen House in Richmond, Surrey, for just over a mile in total. Charles Jarrot was the star of the day riding his Fournier around the track in just 2 minutes and 8 seconds.
In London in 1928 today marked a black day which wouldn´t really change much to this day, as figures released by the British government showed that deaths in street accidents in London during the three months of July, August and September came to 309, bring this years’ total to 872, two more every week than in the previous year. A White Paper issued earlier in the year showed that in Great Britain there were 133,943 road accidents in 1927 and 5,329 deaths. Both figures had increased as they had been every year since 1921.
You know we like to focus mainly on the United Kingdom in our trip through the motoring archives, but sometimes we just have to visit elsewhere to recognise a significant development in automotive history. Today is one of those days so pack your bags as we´re off to India. On this day in 1945, the company Bajaj Auto was formed, under the name of M/s Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Limited. The reason the company is so significant is that it changed a landscape, not only in terms of motoring but the entire aesthetics of an image of the country. The firm started off by selling imported two and three-wheeled vehicles in India. In 1959, it obtained a licence from the Government of India to manufacture two-wheelers and three-wheelers and it became a public limited company in 1960. The vehicles we are talking about, if you haven´t guessed already, are the famous auto-rickshaws, sometimes known as tuk-tuks, named after the noise the engine makes, the vehicles are not exclusive to India but are certainly a fabric of life even today. Whilst we are out and about, before we return to home shores let´s pop in to see the Australian prime minister Ben Chifley, or he was on this day in 1948, which is when he and 1,200 other people attended the unveiling of the first car to be manufactured entirely in Australia – an ivory-coloured car

officially designated the 48-215, but fondly known as the Holden FX. In 1945, the Australian government had invited Australia's auto-part manufacturers to create an all-Australian car. General Motors-Holden's Automotive, a car body manufacturer, obliged, producing the 48-215, a six-cylinder, four-door sedan. Back home now and in 1995, the third generation Rover 200 (R3) was launched. It was initially popular, being Britain's seventh best-selling new car in 1996 through to 1998. The Rover 200, codenamed R3, was smaller than the Honda-based R8 cars.

We couldn´t stay on home turf though as we just had to share this story from Romania. You may have to read this paragraph a couple of times to fully understand what we are saying, but on this day in 2004, for the second time in a month, Alin Prica was arrested for stealing a car. Okay, now here is the interesting bit. Prica was blind. He was arrested after crashing his stolen car into a tree. He had stolen the car with help from another blind friend and directed as to which way to turn by a third who could see but (we assume) was unable to drive. Prica managed to drive the stolen car 25 miles before crashing into the tree. A couple of weeks earlier Prica had managed to drive another stolen car for almost a mile by himself before smashing into a tree and knocking himself out!

MOURINHO’S BRAVE CALL PAYS OFF Jose Mourinho is back with a bang on and off the pitch as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur. His new-look Spurs side have won their first two games under the Special One scoring 7 goals in the process. His first test came last Saturday in the early kick-off against local rivals West Ham United. Mourinho got off to a winning start having replaced Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week as Spurs sealed a 3-2 victory against Manuel Pellegrinis men at the London Stadium. Goals from Son, Heung Min, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane put Tottenham 3-0 up before two late goals from The Hammers made it a nervy last few minutes. Tuesday

match in charge for the Portuguese manager and they showed great spirit. Tottenham came from behind to win 4-2 against Olympiakos in his first home game in charge, there was one point above all others that he wanted to make clear. The most difficult moment of the match for him was his first-half substitution. Spurs were 2-0 down in the first half-hour and he decided to haul Eric Dier off bring on CWhristian Eriksen Most managers would have waited to make the change. Instead, he was wasting no time in attempting to find a way back into the game. He got the reward he wanted when his fired-up side came back to win the match 4-2.
GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS IN ROJALES...
On Saturday 9 November over 80 netball players gathered in Rojales for their Annual tournament. The teams were from Madrid, Valencia, L'Alfaz del Pi, La Manga, Pinoso and Rojales themselves. Rojales progressed through the round-robin stage of the competition with wins against Madrid B 13-1, La Manga 9-1, Pinoso A 11-1 and a very hard-fought 6-3 win against Valencia A meaning they finished top of their Group.
Into the Quarter Finals, and with only 6 mins each way to play, Rojales had to ensure they scored off their own centres and to work hard defensively to stop the opposition scoring. Tracey and Claire overturned the ball in defence on numerous occasions and Nicola, Angela and Katie worked it through the centre court into the scoring duo of Sam and Wendy. The reward for their efforts being a 9-2 win and a place in the Semi-Finals against Alfaz. Rojales had recently faced Alfaz in a different competition and knew they
would have to be on top of their game to win this one. Both teams started nervously but it wasn't long before Rojales' experience started to show and the result was an 8-4 win. The final loomed and Rojales would, as in previous tournaments, play against Madrid A. The match started off very scrappily until the teams settled and the game went almost goal-for-goal with a half time score of 3-3. Madrid started the second half the stronger by taking advantage of Rojales' missed shot and converting that and the next two on the trot into their own net. Rojales tried hard to take back control but there was not enough time and Madrid went on to win 7-5. Despite being disappointed Rojales took heart from a great team performance throughout the tournament. Rojales' Sports Councillor, Pedro, came along to present the trophies to the winners and Rojales' newbie, Nicola, won a Best Player award. If you would like to be part of Rojales Netball Club you can contact Claire on 680300637 for further details.

IT'S THAT MAN AGAIN! Late, late goal grabs all the points. TEAM:-13 Carlos, 2 Pepe, 3 Fernando,5 Manu, 9 Manuel Sanchez, 14 Pamies, 19 Luis, 20 Morante, 22 Gonzalo, 23 Maccan, 24 Andres. SUBs:- 4 Santos, 8 German, 10 Alfredo, 12 Diego Barroso, 15 Diego. Top hit-man Gonzalo was on the mark again as Monte edged this top of the table clash on Sunday. A cold day at the 'Cauldron' turned much warmer as CD Montesinos came from behind, twice, to nick all 3 points against their rivals for promotion. The game started off badly when sleepy defending allowed a sharp Benijofar attack to slip the ball home. One-nil down with a couple of minutes gone, Monte had yet again, given their opponents a start. Unperturbed by the setback, the home side set to their task and were rewarded when a corner on the right picked out a totally unmarked MANU (5) to gratefully nod in the easiest goal he'll score this season. From then on, it was almost exclusively Monte, but, pushing to take the lead gave their opponents a chance to use their undeniable pace on the break. Moments before half time the inevitable happened. Breakdown from a corner, quick break, failure to clear, some neat passing and the ball nestled in the corner of the Monte goal. All the previous good work undone, Monte needed to regroup after the break. HT:- CD Montesinos 1 2 CD Benijofar The second stint saw Monte huff and puff without creating too many clearcut chances with Benijofar employing a very efficient off-side trap and Monte unable to get the width the game was crying out for. All that changed though when a whipped cross
found GONZALO (22), who nodded down to an advancing MACCAN (23) to slam home the equaliser. Roared on by a bumper crowd, the game suddenly became almost oneway traffic, with wave after wave of red pouring over the green-shirted defenders. Just when it looked like a draw was the likely result, a smartly taken corner on the right caught the Benijofar defence off-guard. Three players lined up at the far post, but it was crowd favourite GONZALO (22) who rose highest to score and take his tally into double figures for the season. Moments later the final whistle concluded a thoroughly entertaining game. I've already had my say on slow starts and not giving opponents respect in previous articles, so, no need for a repeat, but on this occasion, Monte had a something else to counter these nagging failings, a belief that they can win, even if they have to make it hard for themselves sometimes. There will, I'm sure, be other twists and turns over this season, but this game gave a warning to all their opponents, we are Monte and if you give us a chance, we will WIN. Man of the match was 19 LUIS, chosen by game sponsor TorregolfEU. Vamos Monte. FT:- CD Montesinos 3 2 CD Benijofar Match report by Official Chief Sports Correspondent Steve Robinson. Photo's by Terry Harris MATCH 12............ CD Montesinos will travel to Santa Pola to play C.F. Santa Pola City "A", on Saturday 30th November, kick-off is 4.00 pm. Travelling supporters to meet at Bar Tambalache at 2.30 pm.

JOSHUA WEIGHT IN QUESTION BEFORE MUST-WIN REMATCH So much has changed in the boxing world since Andy Ruiz Jr. shocked the world by stopping Anthony Joshua on his American debut in June earlier this year. Tyson Fury has become the biggest draw in boxing as well as the most entertaining, Deontay Wilder has had
2 further title defences including an astonishing one-punch knockout in his much-anticipated rematch with Luis Ortiz to keep hold of his WBC heavyweight belt and the Wilder vs Fury rematch is already scheduled for February 22nd in Las Vegas. Also, young fighters such as the extremely talented Oleksandr Usyk and Britain's hard-hitting Daniel Dubois have
started to make the headlines in the boxing world this year. Until 18 months ago Anthony Joshua was not only the main attraction in heavyweight boxing, he was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of box office and ticket sales and easily sold-out Wembley Stadium on two separate occasions. Since the devastating defeat to Andy Ruiz in June, many questions have now started to be asked of Joshua and his team. Was it a fluke and a one-off or is Andy Ruiz Jr. the real deal? Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr will go toe-to-toe once more on December 7 with the WBA, WBO and IBF titles on the line that Ruiz won in June when becoming the first-ever Mexican heavyweight champion. A win for AJ would put him back in the frame for some huge box office fights next year, while another defeat would
Ruiz now has the chance to prove it was no lucky punch, while Joshua will look to make a statement with one of his trademark knockouts. Both fighters are rumoured to have lost weight this time around with both camps wanting their men to be lighter on their feet but Ruiz has already started the mind games by claiming that Joshua won't be able to handle the punches this time around. Ruiz spoke to the world's media on Thursday and said "I saw videos where he looked slimmer in training. I don't think that is a good thing and I think he will struggle to take the punches as

well as he did when he weighed more". Joshua saw things differently when questioned about the weight loss and told the media "It's interesting that the weight is spoken about a lot. You don't make weight, as a heavyweight, then focus on training. You focus on training, feel good at whatever weight, then work around that. I have focused on my boxing aspect. Provided I'm feeling good, the weight will be whatever it is. I don't have a target which means I'm ready. I've got to perform in a certain way in the gym then when the boxes have been ticked, the weight will be whatever the weight will be."
