Certificate programs From September 1st 2014 the Department of the Built Environment takes off with two certificate programs called ‘Construction Technology’ and ‘Building Design & Technology’. These certificates are supplementary to the regular master program ABP and are meant for students who study the master program ABP at our Department. The board of the Department is convinced that the certificate programs will meet the needs from students and their future employers in the Built Environment. The certificate program ‘Construction Technology’ aims at obtaining knowledge and research skills in the field of Construction Technology : the construction of a building. The emphasis lies on independent designing and developing of a production process for the construction of a building by using materials, equipment and labor as optimally as possible. The certificate program ‘Building Design & Technology’ aims at design – and research skills in the field of the Building Technology. The certificate program emphasizes the relation between the design of the Building and its technical elaboration. Both certificate programs have an extent of 15 ects, 5 or 6 ects will come on the top of the regular master program. The extent of the subjects who can be used in the elective course space in the regular master program is 9 or10 ects. Part of the program will be a project of 5 or 6 ects.


Certificate program Building Design & Technology Name of the program The official name of the certificate program is: Certificate Building Design & Technology (Graduate School) Language The program is held in English language . Group aimed at Master students of the Department of the Built Environment Registration Students can sign up for the certificate program by means of a registration form. Students must also sign up for separate subjects by using OASE. Responsibility The program is held under the Responsibility of the Department of the Built Environment. Extent of the program The certificate program has an extent of 15 ects, 6 ects will be additional to the regular master program of 120 ects. Content of the program This certificate is supplementary to the regular master program. The student obtains extra knowledge and skills concerning design in the field of Building Technology, sustainability and product development. The essence of the program is constituted by anticipating at and integration of building technological and sustainable aspects of the design. Certificate Building Design & Technology From the following electives a total of at least 9 ECTS must be chosen: - 7T815: Integrated Building Technology (6 ECTS) - 7T562: Design for Manufacturing (6 ECTS) - 7S620: Sustainable Building Materials (3 ECTS) - 7T860: Building technology in extreme climates (4 ECTS) - 7T647: Research methodology for Building Technology (3 ECTS) Compulsory course: 7TC60: Masterproject (6 ECTS, on top of) The student must design a complex part of a building facade and elaborate this design in partial aspects like integration, used materials, details and sustainability. The knowledge of these aspects will be dealt with in the elective courses of the certificate program. It is also possible to handle an actual assignment concerning the same theme from the building industry. Pass/fail Students will pass the certificate program when all subjects and the project are obtained with the mark 6 or higher. When a student pass the certificate program the dean of the Department will sign the certificate.


Quality Every subject and also the project will assessed after completion. Participating students will be invited to fill in an online questionnaire. The results will be used in order to improve the program. Learning aims The certificate program helps the student:  to gain profounder knowledge and improve his/her skills in the field of Building Technology, Sustainability and Product development  to gain an exploring approach of issues in Building Technology  to integrate aspects of Building Technology and Sustainability of a design  to bring a design of a building or complex of buildings on a higher level of building technological elaboration Procedure concerning complaints The Examinations board of the department will be the authority of appeal in complaint procedures. Education and Examination Regulations (OER) and Examination Regulations The actual provisions in these regulations are applicable for his certificate program.
