Choosing A Trucking Company

Desperate People Do Desperate Things If something seems too good to be true, it often is, but sometimes people only see what they want to see. Then, when the honeymoon is over, the truth comes into focus. Business choices and decisions require a sober mind and a strong grip on emotions. If someone wants something too much, and if they’ve convinced themselves they are not walking away, too often critical terms are overlooked and outcomes become disastrous. My wife and I considered selling a couple of our ATV’s. Our kids are growing up and the quads were just sitting around too much. We decided to sell them using Kijiji, since my wife does most of her shopping through the site anyway (we are loyal customers). We took a few pictures, decided on

listing them for about 1015% below local market price, and then posted our ad. After a couple days we were emailed by someone who seemed interested. In fact, they seemed very desperate, like there was some sort of emergency. They asked a little about the ATVs’ history and we e-mailed back. They responded with their acceptance and said they would take them both but would like to see them first. I emailed my availability. The reply was a little shocking. They were located 2200 miles from my home (so how then were they planning on seeing them?). They stated they would pay me exactly what I wanted and would make arrangements to have the ATVs couriered after I got confirmation of a Pay Pal deposit into my

t

account. The situation was a simple business transaction that appeared normal. Offer to purchase, arrangements for payment and pickup, piece of cake. If I was desperate to sell them I wouldn’t have thought any further. But let’s take a closer look at the details and see if what was being said and offered made logical sense. Shipping two ATVs 2200 miles across Canada was not going to be cheap. In fact, they would end up adding a minimum of 35% to the purchase price (probably closer to 50%). The end cost to the purchaser would be 125+% of local market price. Market price differs across Canada. Many people buy in one location and sell in another because price can differ a lot geographically. As an example, Albertans generally pay more for things than do those in the Maritimes. So why would the buyer agree to purchase an ATV above their local cost, then arrange shipping on top? It defies business and money logic. Making sound business decisions sometimes

requires developing “spider sense”, the ability to sense danger without anything being visible. When the spider sense starts tingling, stop what you are doing and take a close look at your surrounding situation. Every business decision requires trust. The key, however, is verifying the accuracy of claims and having recourse if the facts turn out to be extremely off. Cheques are legal documents that can be taken to court and enforced. Even if a cheque had a stop payment assigned to it, it does not stop the validity of the original intent (transfer of funds from a specific entity to the recipient). A cheque retains the power of legal recourse. Electronic transfers do not retain nearly as much legal recourse as our electronic society thinks. Pay Pal, in the minds of many, is perceived to have no legal difference than a cheque. But it can. Pay Pal account names and tracking features (often times international) are not nearly as accessible as a local cheque with

Page T-3 a printed address and signature on it. Finally, how are you going to find the owner of the Pay Pal account when they are 2200 miles away (if that part of the story was even true)? This story is not written to warn people of Pay Pal scams. It’s designed to inspire people to take logical inventory of the business choices they make. If I would have been desperate to sell the quads, urgently needing the cash, I may have been tempted to think others are desperate enough to overpay for the ATVs, blindly overlooking simple common sense logic. If I was desperate, I wouldn’t have considered questioning the means of payment and its legal difficulties. Desperate people convince themselves that desperate choices are actually reasonable. Too much emotion should not be a part in business decisions. When operators are looking to move their truck, too often they start the process in desperate situations, where patience may not even be an option. They end up settling for something they didn’t

really want, because they didn’t really have the time to make an educated decision. They retained too much blind faith, and drank too much coffee. Heaven and hell are in the details. By the way, a quick internet search confirmed my suspicions. There are many Pay Pal scams going around (google: Pay Pal scams). This scam has nothing to do with Pay Pal, the scammers are only trying to find real Pay Pal and bank account information and get gullible people to send THEM money. Apparently not all scams come from overseas, and these scammers have a lot of nerve; they are bold liars. b Robert D Scheper operates an accounting and consulting firm in Steinbach, Manitoba. Detroit Marks Production Of 250,000 Heavy Duty Engine Platform

th

Less than seven years after introducing its groundbreaking Detroit DD15 engine, Detroit Diesel Corporation (Detroit) recently marked the production of its 250,000th DD Series engine. The DD Series engines – which also includes the Detroit DD13 Detroit DD15 TC and Detroit DD16 engines – feature superior performance and power. “When we unveiled our new heavy-duty engine platform in 2007, we anticipated our customers would benefit from greater effi-

ciency and uptime,” said Brad Williamson, Manager, Engine and Component Marketing for Daimler Trucks North America. “The achievements of our engines – most recently combining with the Cascadia Evolution to deliver a 7 percent improvement in fuel economy – have exceeded expectations.” Jointly developed by Daimler Trucks in Germany, Japan and the United States and featuring more than 90 percent globally shared parts, the DD Series

heavy duty engine platform was the largest investment ever made in product development by an engine manufacturer. “The DD Series engines were well-received by the market, outperforming the Series 60 engine in just the first year,” said Williamson. “Our customers embraced the products and performance benefits the engines delivered.” Powering the Road: Advanced Technologies All DD Series engines feature a robust design

with the exclusive Amplified Common Rail System (ACRS), which works in combination with Detroit DDEC electronic engine controls to benefit fuel consumption while reducing noise and vibration. “The DD Series lowers the real cost of ownership for our customers,” said Williamson. “Our engineers implemented industry-first technologies that set the stage for ongoing achievements.” These achievements include using BlueTec SCR emissions technology, introduced to meet EPA 2010 emissions standards and achieving Greenhouse Gas 2014 (GHG14) regulations a full year ahead of the mandate for certification. “Our emissions solutions not only contribute to reducing pollutants, but also provide enhanced reliability, durability and efficiency,” said Williamson. Integrating Solutions With the launch of the new integrated Detroit Powertrain, Detroit engines are poised to deliver even better results for customers. “The DD15 kicked off an important era of development and innovation for Detroit, and the integrated Powertrain marks the culmination of our achievements,” said Williamson. “The DD15 is now our flagship product, and it serves as the heart of our solutions.” The integrated Detroit Powertrain has the DD15 engine with a new downsped rating of 400hp

Clean, Emission-Free Diesels Make Up A Third Of Truck Pool More than one in three medium and heavy duty commercial trucks registered in the U.S. are now equipped with newer, cleaner emissions-free engines. As reported by Heavy Duty Trucking, new data compiled by IHS Automotive for the Diesel Technology Forum, shows 2.9 million of the nation’s 8.8 million trucks are now powered by newer model, clean diesels. “Because more than 95% of all heavy-duty trucks are diesel-powered it is significant that more than one-third of these trucks are nearzero emission vehicles,” says Allen Schaeffer, Executive Director of the Diesel Technology Forum. “Diesel trucks are literally the driving force behind goods movement in the U.S. and worldwide economies, so the fact that the clean diesel fleet is increasing is

Truck driving is a skilled occupation that should not be lumped in with burger flippers and other low wage/low skill jobs in order for the industry’s jobs strategy to work. That’s the over-riding comment from the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) in the wake of changes to the controversial Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) announced recently by federal employment minister Jason Kenney. “In an industry as fragmented and diverse as trucking, it’s not surprising there are varying opinions on the TFWP,” says CTA President David Bradley. “Obviously, those companies that utilize the program in order to fill truck driver vacancies will be impacted, whereas those who do not are less concerned.”

According to the minister, the changes are designed to encourage Canadian businesses to fill job vacancies with Canadians, reduce the number of foreign workers in Canada under the program and put a stop to abuses. The minister says that scrapping the program, at least for low wage occupations, remains on the table. Regardless of whether a company uses the TFWP or not, Bradley says employing Canadians is always paramount and there is a very clear industry consensus that truck driving should be considered a skilled occupation. That fact that it isn’t, says CTA, is a key impediment to addressing the driver shortage, which could reach 33,000 in the for-hire trucking sector by 2020, according to the Conference

Mack Boosts Service Capacity In Canada Mack Trucks further strengthened its service and support network in Canada with the opening of new facilities in Saskatchewan and Quebec. “Mack’s customers reap the benefits of maximum vehicle uptime and increased ROI because of the ongoing investments throughout our dealer network,” said Stephen Roy, President, Mack Trucks North American Sales & Marketing. “Mack is committed to delivering products, services and support that we’re confident provide unparalleled customer value, and our dealers live this commitment every day.” Redhead Equipment — Regina, Saskatchewan Redhead Equipment recently opened the doors to its new Regina, Saskatchewan location between Emerald Park and the City of Regina on Highway 1 East. Redhead Equipment, which also retails and services trailers and construction equipment, built the new 117,000 square-foot facility to streamline their operations and better serve the growing needs of their diverse customer

base. The truck service centre, staffed by 15 Mack technicians, nine of whom are Mack Master Technicians, features 27 service bays, including wash and welding bays, a lube pit, overhead crane and truck lifting system. The location houses an extensive parts inventory in its 30,000 square-foot parts warehouse and operates seven service trucks to provide support at customer locations and jobsites. Mack Laval — Laval, Quebec Mack also enhanced its presence in Quebec with the opening of Mack Laval near Montreal. The dealership was previously based in Anjou, Quebec and known as Camions Lourds de Montreal. Moving to the Laval facility will help ensure even greater customer service and easy access from major routes AR-440 and AR-25. The 19,000 square-foot facility provides 14 service bays manned by 14 technicians and a 3,500 square-foot parts warehouse, overhead crane, lube pit and high-tech lube system. The facility is equipped to service alternative fuel vehicles. Located

Board of Canada. Bradley contends trucking companies who use the TFWP do not do so to expand their businesses. “Even prior to the announced changes the program was considered by most to be too cumbersome and restrictive for anything other than a temporary, stop-gap measure to fill unseated trucks when a company is unable to fill those positions with qualified Canadians.” “The TFWP is what it is,” he says. “It’s not an ideal program, nor is it a solution to the shortage of qualified truck drivers. But it’s all that is available to fill some seats on a temporary basis for those who choose to use it.” He says CTA would much rather work with the federal and provincial governments to fulfill the industry’s need for qualified Canadian transport operators, or where that is not possible, with qualified immigrant drivers on a path to citizenship. b on a 138,000 square-foot lot, Mack Laval provides ample room for trailers and is monitored by an advanced camera system to help protect customers’ assets. Ongoing Mack Dealer Investments Since 2010, Mack dealers have invested $380 million, leading to a: • 35 percent increase in bay capacity; • 162 percent increase in Mack Master Technicians; • 69 percent increase in spare parts availability; • 62 percent increase in hours available for service; and • 82 percent increase in parts department employees. Mack’s extensive service and support network of more than 460 Mack dealer locations and 15,000 additional service providers in North America is vital to the success of Mack’s aftermarket support. The ongoing investments to expand service and support capabilities further the effectiveness of Mack’s GuardDog Connect telematics-based solution, which quickly diagnoses potential issues, proactively schedules repairs and confirms that required parts are in stock and ready to install, all while the truck is still on the job. b

FTR: Supply And Demand ‘Normalizing’ A healthier trucking industry has reflected extremely tight capacity in the truckload sector, but there may be a period of modest relief in sight, according to newly released report from the freight forecasting firm FTR. “There is a possibility for some relief of the tight truckload capacity over the next few months if freight growth slows as expected in the

second quarter,” the group said in a release. “The stressed supply situation of today is caused, primarily, by regulatory drag on shipping capacity along with the winter disruptions.” Although trucking capacity will stay tight throughout 2014, “it looks like much of the supply-and-demand balance is coming back down to a more ‘normal’ level

providing customers with a fast, reliable and simple solution for ordering parts,” explains Pam Perez, ECommerce Project Manager at Daimler Trucks North America. “This platform is the first in the industry to provide this depth of functionality. By utilizing the state-of-the-art crossreference parts database on PinnacleTruckParts. com, customers will save time and money throughout the parts procurement process.” The initial roll-out and implementation of Pinnacle Truck Parts platform with authorized DTNA retail outlets began in June and is targeted for completion by the end of February, 2015. To learn more about Pinnacle Truck Parts, please visit www.pinnacle truckparts.com b as shippers are finishing their spring freight season and the backlog of loads caused by the winter weather has largely subsided.” Jonathan Starks, FTR’s Director of Transportation Analysis, noted ‘normal’ remains a relative term, since the industry continues to be operating at much higher levels of utilization than in the past. “Recent data shows a strong uptick in economic activity, but it will be hard to know if we are merely playing catch-up from a bad first quarter or if there is some real sustained growth occurring.” b

Higher Speed Limits On BC Highways Means Greater Need For Driving With Care Near Commercial Vehicles The BC Trucking Association (BCTA) predicts that most trucking companies are unlikely to allow higher speeds among their fleets and will stick to current best practices regarding safety and fuel efficiency despite changes to posted speed limits announced by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure as a result of its Rural Highway Safety and Speed Review. Louise Yako, BCTA President & CEO, notes that these trucking companies compete by offering high standards for service and efficiency that incorporate safety measures into day-to-day practices. Many cultivate a “safety culture” for their employees and customers by, for example, adopting speed policies and/or using engine speed control devices. “When we surveyed our truck and motor coach members regarding the speed review,

they indicated there was no appetite for higher speed limits,” Ms. Yako says. “Carrying freight or passengers from one place to another quickly is important, but getting them there safely is more important. For the road transportation industry, efficiency is about results, factoring in the safety of drivers and others, what they’re carrying, and their equipment.” Trucking companies are also aware that operating at higher speeds means greater fuel consumption and more greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, Natural Resources Canada estimates that a heavy commercial vehicle travelling at 120 km/h can consume up to 39 percent more fuel than if it were travelling at 90 km/h, with an accompanying increase in emissions. Although BCTA recognizes that the provincial government has a high regard for road safety and the environment,

the association opposed increasing speed limits based on concerns expressed by members about increased crash risk when commercial and passenger vehicles are travelling at different speeds and increased stopping distances at higher speeds, especially in poor road conditions. For example, the stopping distance for a loaded tractor-trailer combination travelling on dry pavement at 105 km/h is 68 percent higher than at 90 km/h, which means it will take 180 metres to come to a stop, compared to 107. Especially as speed limits increase, other drivers need to take care not to do anything that might require a truck to take evasive action or make an emergency stop. With higher speed limits, driving to conditions becomes even more important. BCTA therefore welcomes the ministry’s plan to pilot variable

speed signs for better guidance in severe winter conditions on high-volume routes, including the Coquihalla between Hope and the old toll booth and Highway 1 between Sicamous and Revelstoke. Commercial vehicles run according to schedules that require them to operate year-round on these routes, often in difficult driving conditions. “Safety is our top priority,” says Ms. Yako. “We understand that in deciding to increase speed limits on selected rural highways, the ministry carefully considered safety performance, current travel speeds, road engineering and comments from the public. But, people can make mistakes and use poor judgment. To ensure everyone stays safe, drivers of passenger cars need to understand how to share the road with heavy commercial vehicles.” As the new speed limits come into force, BCTA encourages all drivers to drive with care, reduce their speeds in wet and winter conditions, and always give commercial vehicles room to operate safely. b

Daimler Unveils Driverless Commercial Truck When it comes to autonomous, self-steering vehicles, most of the public attention has been focused on the Goggle car and heavy applications in the mining and national defense sectors. But Daimler Trucks is one commercial truck manufacturer to unveil its selfdriving “truck of the future. The company stated the vehicle is a “quantum leap in road freight transport in terms of safety, efficiency and connectivity.” The highway test pilot for the technologically advanced vehicle will be launched as early as 2025 “if conditions permit,” Daimler said. “The truck of the future is a Mercedes-Benz that drives itself,” said Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, the member of Daimler’s Board of Management Responsible for Daimler Trucks and Buses. The truck is equipped with the “extremely intelligent” Highway Pilot assistance system which enables it to drive completely

autonomously at speeds of up to 85 km/h. Bernhard said the truck “is our response to the major challenges and opportunities associated with road freight transport of the future” including connectivity to its complete environment — the infrastructure and members of the motoring public — and its economy and last but certainly not least, its safety advantages. “If the legislative framework for autonomous driving can be created quickly, the launch of the Highway Pilot is conceivable by the middle of the next decade,” Bernhard said. “That’s why Daimler Trucks is committed to maintain a dialogue with government officials and authorities and with all other parties affected by its development. We believe the chances are good because autonomous driving combines the ability to achieve business and technology objectives with the creation of benefits for society and the environment.” b

Dean Grant Named BC Professional Truck Grand Champion Agrifoods International Co-op driver Dean Grant of Duncan, BC, won the Grand Champion title at BC’s 2014 Professional Truck Driving Championships on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Abbotsford’s Tradex Centre. Dean Grant is a veteran of the BC event and was named Grand Champion at both the 2009 and 2010 championships and was a member of the BC Team that won the National competition in Ottawa in 2008. Rookie of the Year is Stephen Scott, who drives for Simard Westlink, while Rob Balan, sponsored by Ocean Trailer, received the 2014 Safety Award. Within the remaining categories, first place winners include: Evan Hirst, competing as an independent, in Single-Single; Dale Scott, sponsored by Fountain Tire, in SingleTandem; Brian Meredith, of McRae’s Environmental Services, in TandemTandem; and Lorne Roadhouse, of Overland West Freight Lines Ltd., in Super B-Train. Dale Scott and Lorne Roadhouse also won within their categories in 2013. Each of the category winners will represent BC in the 2014 National Championships in Esterel, Quebec from Thursday, September 4 to Sunday, September 7, 2014, competing against elite driver teams from other provincial competitions across Canada. The Championships consist of: • a written test, which challenges the drivers’

general knowledge of the industry and equipment; • a pre-trip inspection, which approximates the drivers’ regular vehicle inspection; and • the driving competition, which simulates the everyday skills of maneuvering, cornering and judging distance. To compete, drivers must have no preventable accidents in the twelve months prior to the championships. A “preventable accident” could include even a minor occurrence such as a broken tail light on a trailer. A banquet at the Sheraton Guildford Hotel in Surrey followed the competition, with Ken Martin, Organizing Committee Chair, and Gary Ryder, Chief Judge, Chevron Canada Limited, presenting the awards to winners in each class. 2014 BC Professional Truck Driving Championships Winners: Grand Champion: Dean Grant, Duncan, Agrifoods International Co-op Rookie of the Year: Stephen Scott, Simard Westlink Safety Award: Rob Balan, Surrey, Ocean Trailer (sponsor) Team Trophy: Independent Team #2: Dean Grant, Evan Hirst, Dale Scott, Rob Balan, and Jose Lecinana Straight Truck: 1st Place: Dean Grant, Duncan, Agrifoods International Co-op 2nd Place: John Lawley, Abbotsford, YRC Reimer 3rd Place: Danny Wilson, Langley, Mindful Trucking Inc.

Kenworth T880 Fills Greater Demand In Vocational Markets When it comes to vocational truck sales, there’s a revival going on. A year-overyear sales increase for Kenworth vocational trucks reflects growing construction activity, increased oil and gas production, and encouraging new housing starts figures, according to Kurt Swihart, Kenworth Marketing Director. Demand also is being driven by construction companies, contractors, concrete producers and building suppliers operating old 2004 and 2007 EPA engine units that need to be replaced with new trucks. “As a result, we’ve seen strong interest in our new Kenworth T880 vocational flagship truck that began full production at the start of 2014,” Swihart said. “The T880 is expected to soon represent about 50 percent of Kenworth’s vocational

enced drivers,” he said. “Plus, the Kenworth T880 is more comfortable to drive, offers better seats and pedal placement, and possesses excellent maneuverability. The result is a more comfortable work environment, and a comfortable driver is a more productive driver.” Productivity is really what’s it’s all about when it comes to vocational trucks. “Simply stated, the Kenworth T880 is a dependable, versatile truck capable of performing the toughest jobs productively and efficiently. In the final analysis, the truck with the most turns done in a single day is what will help vocational truck operators win the day. For most vocational truck fleets, even the equivalent of one more load delivered each day through increased payload capacity is going to make the biggest difference in your bottom line,” said Swihart. “As we like to say, the Kenworth T880 is a jobsite hero for our customers.” b

truck production.” The Kenworth T880 attracted significant interest at leading industry trade shows such as CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, and the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary. Vocational truck buyers are choosing the Kenworth T880 because of its increased driver comfort from a wider and quieter cab with its triple-sealed and robust doors, increased visibility from the panoramic, one-piece windshield, and best-in-class forward lighting systems. Buyers also appreciate the T880’s integrated powertrain packages. “For example, the PACCAR MX-13 engine coupled with an automatic or automated transmission helps remove some stress from the overall driving experience, especially for younger, more inexperi-

OOIDA’s Spirit Of The American Trucker Hits The Road For Western Star And OOIDA After unveiling the first-ever truck to be built from the ground up through fan votes on social media channels, the Western Star “Design Our Star” show truck is now on the road, pulling the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association

“Spirit of the American Trucker” tour trailer to truck shows, conferences and truck stops throughout the United States. Western Star 4900EX is a new classic rig helmed by Boise, Idaho-based Jon Osburn, a driver with more than 20 years of ex-

Kenworth T680 Now Available For Order With Natural Gas Powered Engine Kenworth Truck Company recently announced that its industry-leading, fuel-efficient Kenworth T680 is now available for order with a natural gas powered engine. The Kenworth T680 in day cab, 52-inch midroof sleeper and 76-inch sleeper configurations now can be specified with the factory-installed Cummins Westport ISX12 G natural gas engine rated up to 400 hp and 1,450 lb-ft of torque. The ISX12 G requires a single fuel source and can run on either CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) or LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). The engine uses a maintenance-free, three-

way catalyst and does not require a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank, Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. Kenworth works with such companies as Agility Fuel Systems, Trilogy Engineered Solutions, and McNeilus to provide natural gas tanks and fueling systems. "The new, naturalgas powered Kenworth T680 especially appeals to truck fleets and operators interested in low cost of operation opportunities from the effective combination of the T680's fuel-saving aerodynamics and costefficient natural gas fuel," said Andy Doug-

las, Kenworth National Sales Manager for Specialty Markets. Since entering production two years ago, the Kenworth T680 has become Kenworth most popular truck of choice for fleets interested in excellent fuel economy and outstanding driver comfort features. The T680 was introduced in day cab and 76-inch sleeper configurations,

cle that provides medical screens for truck drivers. “The entire package is absolutely stunning – the truck attracts a lot of attention everywhere we go,” said Osburn. “But the truck is more than just great looks – the Western Star is fantastic to drive, and the Detroit DD16 engine has already been achieving impressive performance. It’s an honour to be behind the wheel of such a fantastic truck.” With more than 16,000 and a 52-inch mid-roof sleeper option was added last year. Kenworth displayed a T680 52-inch sleeper equipped with the Cummins Westport ISX12 G engine powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at this year's Mid-America Trucking Show and at the annual Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo. Kenworth also offers the ISX12 G in the Kenworth T660 and the Kenworth T800 short hood with a 116.5-inch BBC. For more information, contact your Kenworth dealer. b

Page T-13 votes during the year-long campaign, fans selected the truck model, application, engine, interior and exterior options. The truck includes a “big and bold” chrome accessory package, a custom paint job, and a plush Ultra High Stratosphere Sleeper decked out in premium leather. “The Design Our Star truck really captures what our fans love about Western Star – the bold and custom features combined with a powerful truck,”

Western Star 4900 Makes A Big Impact On Big Red Towing Big jobs require big power. That’s why Big Red Towing in Syracuse, NY, depends on their Detroit powered Western Star 4900 trucks to get the job done. “We specialize in heavy towing and transport, and do a lot of offsite jobs, such as pulling windmill towers

up and down dirt-road mountains, which can be very stressful,” said Ron Pullen, Operations Manager, Tow Truck Division for Big Red Towing. “Our Western Star trucks help ease the stress by having the strength we need, combined with the quiet ride of a luxury car.”

After Big Red Towing added its first Western Star – a 4900SB with a Detroit DD15 engine – to its fleet, they were so impressed with the truck’s performance they recently added a second. “Our first Western Star has been phenomenal,” said Pullen. “Not only do

we love the smooth ride and Detroit power and efficiency, our drivers and customers love the truck too. When it came time to add another tow truck, we again turned to Western Star and Detroit.” The new viper-red Western Star 4900SB has a Detroit DD16 engine, an 18K front axle, a 46K rear tandem axle, and a 40-inch sleeper to accommodate a clean back of cab. The truck also features a Century 1130 rotator towing and recovery unit and a custom winch brake

Mack Pinnacle Steals The Show At Much Music Video Awards It doesn’t get “much” better than this. A Mack Pinnacle Rawhide Edition carrying members of the Canadian rap rock band Down With Webster stole the show during its grand red carpet entrance at the recent Much Music Video Awards in Toronto. Four members of the band, which was nominated for pop video of the year, arrived on the red carpet in a 70-inch mid-

rise sleeper cab version of the Rawhide Edition, perfect for making an impressive entrance. The truck’s button-tuck interior offered maximum style and comfort for the band. “A rock rap band like Down With Webster deserves an extraordinary and unique arrival at an event like the Much Music Video Awards,” said John Walsh, Mack Vice President of Marketing.

The Mack Pinnacle offered a showstopping entrance and one that would be difficult to compete with for any other band.
