‘Maestro’ star Bradley Cooper, 49, and model Gigi Hadid, 28, have been seen out in New York on another loved-up date night, although the pair have yet to publicly admit they are a couple.
The beautiful duo arrived at Italian restaurant Cucina Alba on Friday March 22nd and looked so ‘cute’ together according to onlookers. According to insiders Bradley is smitten and has not felt this way about a girl in a long time.
Although Bradley and Gigi (both parents with busy work and social lives) have yet to comment on whether they are in a relationship or not, the fact this has been 6 months since they first papped out together and have had a string of dates shows there is definitely something there.
They were first pictured out in October 2023 leaving another NYC restaurant. Prior to this, Gigi was dating Bradley’s pal Leonardo DiCaprio briefly last year following her split from One Direction star Zayn Malik in 2022, they share a daughter Khai, aged 3. Interestingly, Bradley and Gigi were introduced by Irina Shayk, Bradley’s former partner and mother of his daughter Lea, aged 6. Model Irina and Brad dated from 2015 to 2019 and split amicably.
Gigi is friends with Irina from the modelling circuit and apparently has her
A friend indeed. Although it didn’t work out for Irina and Bradley, Irina wants to see her ex happy and loves Gigi like a little sister. Likewise, Leonardo, who regards Bradley as one of his best friends, has also encouraged the union. We hope this one goes the distance. Wouldn’t their kids be stunning?
Professional surfer Sarah Brady has posted text conversations between herself and her exboyfriend, ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ actor Jonah Hill whom she dated in 2022.
In the posts, Brady refers to Hill as both a "misogynist" and a "narcissist," and the alleged text conversations depict Jonah engaging in behaviour that observers claim is controlling and emotionally abusive.
The texts deal with what Jonah identifies as his "boundaries." He states that he does not want Brady to surf with men, continue friendships and relationships with specific men and women, model, or post photos of herself in a bathing suit or in poses he deems sexual. He says that if she persists in these things, he does not want to be in a relationship with her, and that these are his "boundaries for romantic partnership."
Other text messages appear to show Jonah enforcing these demands; Brady, a professional surfer, deletes several bikini and swimsuit photos from her social media that Hill deems inappropriate. Jonah declined to comment on the claims.
Future Queen Kate Middleton has been diagnosed with cancer and is having chemotherapy to fight the disease with the help of her “amazing” medical team.
Having been admitted to hospital for major abdominal surgery back in January this year, routine tests carried out at the time picked up the cancer. She has already started her chemotherapy treatments at a London hospital. It is unclear what cancer Kate has and the severity of it.
The mum of 3 definitely had her children at the forefront of her mind when speaking to the public about her diagnosis. "This of course came as a huge shock and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK."
Kate, who has always been a hugely popular Royal, spoke openly and candidly about her diagnosis in the message recorded from Windsor Castle and said bravely to other cancer suffers “you are not alone.”
The news broke on Friday March 22nd and the public response to Kate’s cancer has been astounding. Thousands of well wishes have poured in from all around the world. Politicians, celebs and the public have reached out to the future Queen with encouraging words of support. This has been a difficult few months for Kate where she was recovering from major surgery and getting attacked by the media for not being out in public. Kate then posted a photoshopped picture of her and her 3 kids on March 10th (Mother’s Day) resulting in a huge backlash and the picture being pulled from media agencies.
Now all the haters have waded in apologising for their harsh treatment of Kate. One such person was actress Blake Lively who posted a photo of her head onto another woman’s body with the caption “I’m so excited to share this photo I just took today… Now you know why I have been MIA.”
Kim Kardashian also wrote on her Instagram that she was “on her way to find Kate.”
Blake issued an apology and deleted her post from March 15th.
Kim hasn’t commented yet.
Tina O’ Brien, star of ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ was involved in a brawl outside her home after a group of menacing teenagers came looking for a fight.
Tina came out of her Manchester home late on Friday March 22nd, dressed down in pink joggers and after confronting the teenage girls telling them to move on, the brawl started – with seriously hard punches and hair pulling. You can see Tina get one of the girls in a headlock at one stage!
The video footage taken by a bystander has been posted on socials and has gone viral.
The tiny 5ft 1inch actress gave a good fight, although she had her hair pulled and was punched a few times.
Tina, 40, who has played Sarah Barlow in the ITV soap for 16 years has been given a week off work to recover from the trauma of the incident.
No charges have yet been brought with the Police said to be “investigating the matter.” Although we don’t hold out much hope on this! Arthur Nichols.
Boxer Tyson Fury has let the cat out of the bag that his wife Paris is pregnant with their eighth child.
Whilst out celebrating his niece’s sweet 16th birthday party, Tyson made a comment on his social media about Paris saying “looking a bit pregnant here” and later posted another picture with the caption, “Mother of seven kids and still beautiful. Still strong and still my rock. Eight incoming!”
If that isn’t an admission of baby number 8 for the heavyweight’s clan, we don’t know what is.
Good luck to the Furys and their growing brood. The couple have seven kids already: Venezuela, Prince, Tutty, Valencia, Adonis, Athena and Rico.
Get ready to be inspired and informed as we unravel 2024's hottest hair trends and celebrate the artistry and skill within our vibrant barbering community. Here's an exclusive guide to the top haircuts that Sid Da Barber thinks are set to dominate this Spring/Summer.
A nod to the golden era of Hollywood, the side parting continues its resurgence in 2024. This versatile style effortlessly bridges the gap between classic and contemporary, offering a polished look suitable for various occasions.
Perfect for those who want a refined appearance with a dash of nostalgia.
The ever-reliable crew cut maintains its stronghold as the epitome of sophistication. This clean, short style exudes confidence and practicality, making it a timeless choice for those who appreciate simplicity with a touch of refinement.
Embrace your inner rock star with the messy rock 'n' roll style. People are growing their hair out into various kinds of mullets and longer cuts but now still keeping up with those 90s hair trends people will be taking the back shorter and putting texture in that top with lots of choppiness.
For those who crave a bold statement, the bleached buzz cut is a daring choice that's making waves in 2024. This edgy look combines the rebellious nature of a buzz cut with the audacious flair of bleached hair. It's a style that demands attention and is perfect for those unafraid to push style boundaries.
I believe texture takes centre stage in 2024, men seem to be embracing their natural curls and people with all lengths of hair are coming in asking for perms, people are going to be wanting texture and choppiness. I think pixie style haircuts will also trend. So grab yourself a good salt spray, matte clay or texture powder as these are going to be the best products to achieve these looks.

(serves 4)
• 1 garlic clove
• 1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
• 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
• 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
• 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
• 4 skinless, boneless chicken thighs, each cut into 6 pieces (about 1 pound)
• 1 cup blueberries, divided
• 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
• 1/2 teaspoon honey
• 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
• 1 teaspoon minced jalapeño pepper
• Cooking spray
1. Drop garlic through food chute with food processor on; process until chopped. Add parsley and next 6 ingredients (through black pepper); process until finely chopped. Add 1/8 teaspoon salt; pulse to combine. Combine herb mixture and chicken in a medium bowl; toss to combine. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour. Wipe out food processor.
2. Combine 1/2 cup blueberries, vinegar, and honey in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low, and cook 10 minutes or until thickened, pressing with a spoon to break up blueberries. Place blueberry mixture in a medium bowl. Add remaining 1/2 cup blueberries to food processor; pulse 5 times. Combine chopped blueberries, 1/8 teaspoon salt, onion, and jalapeño pepper with vinegar mixture.
3. Preheat grill to medium high heat.
4. Thread 6 chicken pieces evenly onto each of the 4 (8-inch) skewers. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt. Place chicken on grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 10 minutes, turning occasionally. Serve with blueberry salsa.
Any dish with lemon has a high level of acidity, which will make any wine you drink taste sweeter. So although pairing a citrusy Sauvignon Blanc may seem like a natural choice it should be avoided as it could make the wine taste flat. A far better option would be to go for a neutral Italian or Spanish wine – something earthy like a Verdicchio an Albarino or Spain´s up and coming white Godello. If you are not up for hunting in a good wine merchants, a mid-priced range Pinot Grigio from your local supermarket could always do the trick.
If red takes your fancy, opt for a red with a marked acidity of its own like an Italian Valpolicella or tannic Chianti. An oak-aged Spanish red such as Rioja Reserva also tastes great with lemon and chicken. Salut!
Another outing for the Ghostbusters squad is upon us this March.
The Spengler family returns to where it all started - the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top secret research laboratory to take busting ghosts to the next level.
But when the discovery of an ancient artefact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new (Paul Rudd from ‘Antman’) and old (Bill Murray from the original 1984 ‘Ghostbusters’) must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
The film's director Gil Kenan last directed ‘A Boy Called Christmas’ and famed horror flick ‘Poltergeist’.
Jason Reitman who last wrote ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ and the critically acclaimed ‘FrontRunner’ was enlisted to write this sequel, and has done a fab job.
You can tell this movie has an equal amount of Kenaninduced eeriness and Reitman entertainment value. Enough to make you jump off your seat but not too much to scare younger audiences!
With a certificate of 12A and UK release date of March 21st – we hope adult and teen audiences enjoy this supernatural, ghostbusting thriller.
Justin Timberlake is back after a six-year break with this belter of an album ‘Everything I Thought It Was’ dropping on March 15th.
Timberlake admitted the album (his first since ‘Into The Woods’ in 2018) took 4 years to produce but has ensured fans it will be worth the wait!
Lead single ‘Selfish’ has already proved a hit since its official release earlier this year and Justin has described this sixth studio album as “complex within its simplicity…my most straightforward album to date.”
It’s been a great year for Timberlake. He recently reunited with his former NSYNC bandmates to release the single ‘Better Place’ in support of the new ‘Trolls Band Together’ soundtrack - where he reprises his role as lead character Branch - as well as a collaboration with Nelly Furtado and Timbaland called ‘Keep Going Up’.
Promoting ‘Everything I Thought It Was’ Timberlake has enlisted the help of his good pal and actor Benicio Del Toro to narrate the trailer.
Justin also kicks off his ‘Forget Tomorrow World Tour’ on April 29th, where he will be singing songs from the new album and firm favourites such as ‘Bringing Sexy Back’ and ‘Cry Me A River’. Although no UK dates have yet to be announced, record label RCA has indicated that UK tour dates will be added in the coming months.
‘Seduction’ is billed as “a young woman's perplexing journey through the realms of love and lust.”
It is the first novel from Surreybased author Emily Martin and explores the depths of a toxic love affair; unearthing gaslighting, trauma bonding - but above all passion, all interwoven with soulsearching intimacy.
The story centres around heroine Louise and her on/off relationship with “the love of her life” Jack, whose seductive prowess ensnares the submissive Louise. This ignites a series of soul-searching sexual encounters that shatter her world.
Their passionate yet toxic relationship spans years, delving into themes of narcissism as well as the tricky subject matters (sometimes unnoticed in relationships) such as gaslighting and trauma bonding.
Louise attempts to move forward, even getting married, but Jack resurfaces unexpectedly, reigniting their love affair.
Are they fated to remain entangled in this fiery, disturbing rendezvous forever?
Beautifully written, Emily Martin delves into the deep and often difficult psyches of her main characters and tackles the ‘abusive relationship’ plotlines with panache. Available to buy from Amazon now.

This year has been Raye's.
The talented British singer and songwriter picked up 6 Brit Awards on March 2nd at London’s O2 Arena, smashing the previous record of 4 held by Harry Styles, Adele and Blur. Raye picked up gongs for Best Album, Best Artist, Best Song, Best R&B Act and Best New Artist. She was also the first woman to ever win Songwriter of the Year.
Collecting her prizes barefoot, she said: "You don’t understand what this means to me. The artist I was three years ago would not believe I'm in control - I'm my own boss."
Born Rachel Keen, the 26-yearold Londoner, came from relative obscurity and almost didn’t have a chance at her musical career, due to a falling out with her former record industry bosses.
Her old label, Polydor, told her that they would not make an album with her unless she had chart success with her solo track, back in 2021.
Raye revolted and said of the situation: “Imagine the PRESSURE of me waking up every day frantically looking at numbers and stats. If I am going to suffer I am NOT going to do it in silence anymore.”
Polydor said they were saddened by her statement, and she was released from her 4 album deal the following month.
Luckily for Raye she released her music with an independent distribution company and quickly turned her life around. Her track ‘Escapism’ went viral on Tik Tok and reached number one in the UK charts and she had her first US hit too.
From there Raye went onto release her album ‘My 21st Century Blues’ to critical acclaim and a Mercury Prize nomination.
Raye said at The Brits that her middle name was inspired by her grandmother, Agatha Dawson-Amoah, who joined her on stage as she accepted her Album Of The Year award. “My grandma is awake til 3am praying for me and my beautiful sisters, I love you so much,” she said on stage.
This year was also monumental because Raye had never picked up an award before in her life.
Aged only 26 to scoop 6 Brit Awards was unprecedented. She was nominated in 7 categories and the only one she didn’t pick up was Best Pop Act, which Dua Lipa won.
This year was also a phenomenal year for women, with the Brits reporting that three quarters of the award wins featured women or non-binary people.
Raye was born in Tooting, South London in 1997 and lived in Croydon for most of her childhood. Aged 14 she studied music and dance at the prestigious Brit School, which has turned out talent including Adele and Amy Winehouse.
She dropped out at 16 after her track ‘Hotbox’ was heard by Years and Years frontman Olly Alexander and this led to a record deal.
It wasn’t until she was freed from Polydor in 2021, that she achieved true commercial success on her own. She said at the time, “This is proof that you should back yourself, no matter what.”
Raye has always been a talented songwriter. To date she has penned tracks for Beyonce, John Legend and Little Mix behind the scenes.
Raye has also admitted to surviving sexual assault and has spoken out about a culture of misogyny in the music industry. Her song ‘Ice Cream Man’ mentions a music producer who sexually assaulted her when she was only 17.
Raye has topped and dominated the charts for almost two years now and shows no signs of slowing down. She is a natural born entertainer who has the potential to be one of the UK’s greatest recording artists.
She is also popular with the public, due to her down to earth nature. For example, after scooping all her Brit gongs she took off her high heels and went to the Brits after party in white hotel slippers!
And to bravely say that she can’t believe she is “ugly crying on national television” had everyone in stitches. And bringing her nan on stage is just inspiring!
Go Raye – you Raye of Sunshine!

When you think of festival fashion what do you think of? Hippie attire? High fashion Coachella fits? Or even EDM raver clothes? Whatever festival outfit you think of, these clothes tend to be creative, carefree, fashionforward, and fun. But how did this style evolve? And where can we go with it next? Let’s explore the history of music festival fashion all the way from the original Woodstock to the festivals today like Coachella, AfroPunk and Glastonbury.
WORDS BY: MARTIN BROOKSNo conversation about the history of music festivals can happen without mentioning Woodstock. The three-day 1969 festival has lived in the collective consciousness for decades now setting the standard for what a music festival should look like. And what did the lucky 400,000 who went to Woodstock look like?
‘Barely There Beauty’ - The hippie subculture of the 1960s celebrated everything natural, including the human body. Nudity was casual and accepted in Woodstock, but festival-goers also sported crocheted tops and other homemade attire. From tie-dye tee shirts to blue jeans covered in homemade patches, Woodstock fashion was definitely rooted in the handcrafted and rebellion against the perfectly puttogether mainstream fashions of the day.
“The legacy of Woodstock fashion can be found in the attire of festival goers today,” said Love Khaos owner, Lauryn Strobel. “The spirit of freethinking and creativity echoes in everything.” The spirit of Woodstock certainly lives on, but how did it evolve into the festival looks we see today?
The anti-establishment spirit of Woodstock lived on in festivals in the 70s and 80s, but a new subculture was in the mix – punk rock.
Leather jackets with politically motivated patches replaced the breezy crocheted garb of the hippies. Heavier worker boots replaced the carefree barefoot look. The music festival goers of the 1970s and 1980s were still free spirits and passionate like the ones at Woodstock, but their passion had an edge to it. The style had to be able to withstand the chaos of a mosh pit.
The mix of the hearty edge of punk fashion and the soft hippie look can be seen in the fields of music festivals today.
The 90s brought with it the rise of many new genres of music, while also maintaining the evolved folk, punk, and rock scenes that dominated before. Grunge, hip-hop, techno, and house music all burst onto the scene and the festival circuit grew to accommodate the loyal listeners. Lollapalooza and Glastonbury festivals took off and everything from oversize tee shirts and skater shoes to bright rave wear with cute space buns became commonplace and continue to dominate the festival look today.
The 2000s to today saw a huge factor come into the festival fashion scene – social media. With outfits posted for all to see, festival fashion evolved so that it could leave the field and seep into everyday wear. The chic modern bohemian look sported by Kate Moss and Sienna Miller took off and became a signature look of the festival scene, harkening back to the free-spirited hippies of Woodstock. And in the 2010s, the style evolved even more, especially with the massive influence of Beyonce’s 2018 Coachella set that wove together Black fashion from Egyptian goddesses to the Black Panthers and more.
But the ever-growing and expanding festival fashion can also give rise to unsustainable disposable fast fashion. Big stars, like Harry Styles, are embracing sustainable fashion brands and rejecting hyperconsumerist fast fashion.
Festival goers may look different than they did at Woodstock in 1969, but the spirit of that legendary festival lives on. Music festivals are about creativity, community, and art. That same independent anti-mainstream attitude still shows up in the outfits of festival goers today. Music festival fashion is mostly about freedom of expression, and there is no better time to embrace that than in the festival fields of today.

At Jonathan Rowlandson Design we have provided a unique design and build service for a range of clients for over 20 years. With an emphasis on innovative, contemporary design solutions we have risen to the challenge of every project, interior or exterior. Combining our unique approach to metal items with wood, glass, stone, and other materials. At JRD we offer a range of furniture items including the Otolo range. We also design and produce items sympathetic to their environment, be it a rustic bar restaurant with an artisan feel – normally providing seating, counters, bars, lighting, signage, etc. such as Dog Star Brixton – or one-off sculptural items such as the tables for Vivienne Westwood. Our inspiration will often come from the clients’ desires, as well as tapping into nature and art to find a suitable solution. Hardly any 2 projects are the same, we continue to provide new and hopefully better designs.
The ‘Curved Comfort’ trend continues to see us embrace curved lines and sculpted round shapes, inspired by organic forms of nature. A gentle curve adds interest to spaces with a multitude of straight lines. Soft shapes add flow, movement, balance and a sense of soulful minimalism to our interiors. They create an ideal environment for relaxation: a feeling of home, a sense of calm and serenity.
A free flowing sofa offers a more intimate and inviting living space, creating an element of softness and sophistication into your home. Incorporating sculped curves through your sofa is a perfect way to optimise limited space and can introduce a touch of femininity through your home. BoConcept offers several beautifully curated collections including the Bergamo sofa with a round lounging unit, the Salamanca sofa, the Bolzano sofa & armchair, and the Modena sofa.
The Bolzano collection epitomises this shift to curved minimalism. With a sculptural silhouette, the elegant sofa has a streamlined look and feel. Designed by Morten Georgsen, the capsule’s organic round silhouette has a cocooning effect with curvaceous frames and puffed-up seats enhanced by pairing with cosy, inviting textures, like Lazio Beige bouclé. BoConcept’s Bolzano collection stands out thanks to its curved front panel that gives a 360 degree curve all the way around the seat. Additionally, there is now an option to invest in the modern accent chair, available with swivel functionality, seamlessly blending soft organic shapes with minimalist lines.
Continue the organic curves throughout your home with the Santiago dining table. Where beauty and functionality meet, this dining table makes an elegant statement piece for people who love to entertain. The oval-shaped top comes in durable and hardwearing ceramic, available in white, brown and AshGrey. This curvilinear design with enveloping shapes bring a warm and welcoming quality to dining spaces.
Enhance the coherence of your space by selecting accessories that mirror the sculpted round corners of your furniture. This approach adds visual appeal and ensures a seamless aesthetic throughout your home. BoConcept offers accessories that effortlessly complement their furniture, including rugs, lamps, and ornaments, fostering a complete, soft, organic feel in your living environment.
“THERE ARE NO STRAIGHT LINES WITH SANTIAGO. THE PANELS ARE CURVED, AND THE VAST CERAMIC TOP IS TRANSMITTING AN ORGANIC FEEL. EVERYTHING IS LIKE NATURE.”

The Seven Stars Pub in Ripley has undergone a huge interior and exterior makeover and opened its doors to the public on November 28th. The popular pub has been taken over by The Running Mare in Cobham owners, Adrian & Ollie, who have spent the last 2 months renovating the manor building, dating back to 1536, to get it back to its former glory.
The Seven Stars has long been one of the landmark bars in Ripley. The new owners are really excited to turn The Seven Stars into a destination for all ages and tastes and make it a vibrant social hub for the Ripley community and beyond.
Whilst Adrian comes from a hospitality background – he has run a number of successful pubs and bars before the Seven Stars – he spent a large part of his life supporting and travelling with his younger brother, the racing driver Julian Bailey (aka The Stig!), on the route to Formula One. Be sure to pay the new venue a visit.
The Running Mare is one of the most iconic destination pubs in Cobham, and one of the most renowned dining restaurants in Surrey. Since the current owners bought the pub in 1991 it has been operated as a family business incorporating a kitchen that continually produces excellent food and front of house staff that provide a warm, professional welcome to all our guests. Whether dining or just popping in for a drink, The Running Mare provides a friendly environment and an inviting customer experience whilst still retaining the inherent character of the Great British Inn.

The newly renovated Seven Stars Ripley is the jewel in the crown of Surrey pub gastronomy. Serving the most delicious food - think classic pub dishes; homemade, hearty portions, fresh, fine and locally sourced ingredients - but with a modern twist.
It is well worthy of a seven star review (five would definitely not be enough!) as we found out on our recent visit on a relaxed Wednesday evening at the beginning of March.
We had originally booked for a Friday night but due to the
impending M25 closures for the bridge installation we asked to push forward to Wednesday. Ollie the owner and landlord graciously accommodated us last minute and despite springing the review on him with two hours to prepare he served some of the tastiest food we’d had in years with a great ambience and service to match. (Interestingly, the pub was fully booked for that Friday – so releasing our table for two turned out to be a good thing for all in the end!)
The first thing you notice as you walk into The Seven Stars is it is brimming with charm, great homely décor, interesting wall art and sporting memorabilia and a long welcoming bar, with a huge selection of local beers, ales and spirits - always with a smiley faced staff member behind it. This cannot be faked! This was also our third visit to this new landmark establishment in the
heart of Ripley so we can ascertain this. We’d been to one of the soft launch opening nights in November and back for a meal in December – all were wonderful and on point. New owner Ollie Bailey (co-owner of The Running Mare in Cobham with Dad Adrian) spent two months renovating the 1536 manor building to get it back to its former glory.
The Seven Stars has long been one of the landmark bars in Ripley and is now a vibrant social hub for the Ripley community and beyond. Look out for their monthly quiz nights, singers and sporting calendar as it’s a great place to watch sport.
The Seven Stars offers a simple one-page food menu containing just 21 tantalising Starter and Main dishes you would traditionally expect from a pub. BUT, and this is a huge “but” the modern take on the old classics is totally sublime! For
example, you would regularly see ‘Pork Belly’ on a pub menu but The Seven Stars has created ‘Slow Roasted Pork Belly, Glazed in Apple Cider Sauce served with Black Pudding and Caramel Sauce’ – the attention to detail and infusion of flavours and creative ingredients is so innovative and really does work.
Take our Starter for example, ‘Pan Seared Scallops Marinated in Nduja Butter served with Cauliflower Puree’ was a taste explosion. The pairing of sweet to savoury is unreal and the scallops were cooked to perfection, seared and on point with the vegetable butter. Bobby Davro, our restaurant reviewer whose tastebuds were “playing up due to a mouth ulcer” (he told me in the car 5 minutes from The Seven Stars – too late to kick him out) did say the best dish he’d had in months.
We washed this down with a glass of icecold Whispering Angel Rose which perfectly suited the fun mood as our attentive waiter Christian deflected some awful jokes from the worst restaurant reviewer ever (Bobby No-Tastebuds) joked with us about the ‘Jus/ Jew’ on the pork and the Muslim references
to the scallops Nduja Butter. Which led to a lot of belly laugh conversations about religion, atheists and the fact that Christian was brought up as a Christian and The Seven Stars was a homage to Jesus. It was heavenly though!!
Onto Mains and oh my goodness, they were a spectacle. The ‘Pancetta and Crispy Pork Special’ was so delicious, served with apple mash and honey glazed carrots with a tangy jus – it really hit the spot! Bobby went for the ’Rib Eye Steak with Pepper Sauce, Mash and Seasonal Veg’ he loved it and said it was lean, succulent, packed with flavour. I didn’t believe him so had a few mouthfuls to make sure– it was amazing. Cooked medium rare to perfection. Had a few more bites just to make sure as my tastebuds were just fine.
This was (as we were briefed by Ollie) was supposed to be the most impressive course, the Apple Crumble, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Lime Cheesecake were all freshly made that day by Ollie’s gorgeous wife, she is definitely a connoisseur of desserts.
The winner was just slightly the ‘Lime Cheesecake’; the consistency of the cheesecake filling with the lime just blew us away. I used to travel and would have coffee and cheesecake at every destination. This outdid all of those, the biscuit base was
firm but not too sweet and crumbled perfectly. It was served with a jug of cream which I didn’t think it needed initially but actually made it even creamier and more delicious (if that’s possible) Well done. 8 Stars!
‘The Sticky Toffee Pudding’ was amazing too – a tantalising cube of the moistest, tastiest sponge with a delicious toffee sauce drizzled all over. Plus, vanilla ice-cream and blueberries to garnish. It really made us main and starter fiends stop and think about the dessert course much more. If you neglect dessert courses – you can’t at The Seven Stars – they are that good.
I had no more room but as Christian mentioned their New Cocktail List has just been introduced it felt rude not to. As I was driving they did a half measure Espresso Martini and it was gorgeous, frothy top and served with an abundance of coffee beans. 80’s icon Bobby stayed true to his roots and tried to order a Pina Colada, then Sex On The Beach but settled with a perfectly made Strawberry Daquiri.
Having undergone a huge interior and exterior makeover, The Seven Stars Pub in Ripley, opened its doors on November 28th to happy customers who came down to celebrate the new venue whilst enjoying delicious canapes and fine local wines and ales. New owners Ollie & Adrian (from The Running Mare in Cobham) have spent the last 2 months renovating the 1536 manor building to get it back to its former glory. The Seven Stars has long been one of the landmark bars in Ripley and is now a vibrant social hub for the Ripley community and beyond.

Since our last column in Surrey Rocks, a lot has happened. We have a new salon partner, I won Snapshot Image of the Year at the Fellowship for British Hairdressing Awards, we now stock the popular Beauty Works brand in the salon AND we’ve been finalised for another Surrey Award for Best Hair Salon.
This year we celebrate our 10th anniversary as a brand and as part of the plans, we decided to partner with Davines. We had a great experience with our former salon partner who supported us throughout the last decade but as the brand and people evolve, it is important to us to work with a partner that reflects our ethos. The team spent months researching various salon brands and Davines is a company that aligns with our values and vision. Sustainable and stylish, Davines is a B corp brand with the determination to do good for each other and the planet. We visited their carbon-neutral headquarters in Parma, Italy where they grow plants, fruit
trees and vegetables for their research and development laboratories to test and experiment with different samples of natural ingredients. We’ve undergone intensive training and love the feedback we’re getting from clients.
We’ve also introduced Beauty Works to our Esher salon. Renowned for its luxurious, high-quality hair extensions that seamlessly blend with your natural hair, this brand is also winning over new fans. If you're dreaming of flowing waves or glamorous, red-carpet curls, Beauty Works has the perfect solution to elevate your hair game.
Having undergone the Beauty Works training, Holly will work closely with you to achieve your desired look. With her keen eye for detail and passion for perfecting every hairstyle, Holly is already building demand for this new service.
We’re offering you something special to celebrate the launch of Beauty Works Extensions at HARE & BONE Esher. Receive a complimentary maintenance blow-dry with any Beauty Works hair purchase and fitting. It's the perfect time to get your hair ready for the Surrey Rocks Award ceremony? The bob has stood the test of time as a symbol of independence, confidence, and style. It’s undergone countless transformations over the years, but its timeless appeal remains unchanged.
The 2024 bob is inspired by the minimalist short hair types we saw through the 90s, such as the Posh Spice bob. Currently, there is also a movement towards glamorous styling and the bob works perfectly for this trend but I think they’ll continue throughout 2024. They’ll potentially soften and get a little longer through the Summer, with more layers being added for more natural movement and texture. Autumn/Winter will see the return of the classic French bob but this time a little more grown out, sitting just below the jawline, with a nice fringe and heavy on the ends. The Italian bob lends itself to those with wavy hair and I believe that will be popular, worn over to the side for a more glamourous edge. The kitty-cut bob, a grown-out version of the Wolf cut, which is softer and more wispy around the fringe will also be popular this year.
There is always a bob in fashion that suits every face shape, lifestyle and hair type so ask us when you’re next in the salon what bob would suit you best.

This month we talk community collaboration and barbering events including the GoldenChair event. Hosted by the visionary and founder Charles, this gathering of hair professionals transcends mere competition; it's a celebration of creativity, skill and the artistry that defines our craft. As I reflect on my experience as a judge at this amazing event back, I am compelled to share the awe-inspiring talent and camaraderie that filled every corner of the venue.
Nestled in the vibrant backdrop of Barcelona, GoldenChair stands as a testament to the passion and dedication of those who breathe life into the world of hairstyling. Under the guidance of Charles, this event not only showcases the technical prowess of its participants but also fosters an environment of collaboration and mutual respect. From skin fades to hair patterns each style tells a story, weaving together elements of traditions and creativity.
As I took my place among the panel of judges, I was struck by the diversity of styles and talent on display. Every contestant brought their unique flair to the stage, infusing their creations with personality and passion. It was a privilege to witness firsthand the sheer talent and creativity that thrives within our industry.
Beyond the competition itself, GoldenChair serves as a platform for connection and inspiration. Networking opportunities abound as like-minded individuals come together to share ideas, industry

It's crucial to pause and acknowledge the importance of mental health in our community. In Surrey, one individual has taken up the mantle of advocacy with great dedication. Stuart, the driving force behind Big Mouth Guildford, is on a mission to break the stigma surrounding mental illness and promote open dialogue.
Through events and community outreach initiatives, Stuart is sparking conversations that have the power to save lives. By raising awareness of suicide prevention and offering support to those in need, he is gathering a culture of awareness and understanding. In a world where stress and uncertainty often take a toll, organizations like Big Mouth Guildford serve as beacons of hope, reminding us that we are never alone in our struggles.
The excitement in the barber world continues to grow with The Great British Barber Bash at the Big Penny Social in London in March. The event unites barbers from across the nation in a celebration of our shared passion. From live demonstrations to networking it's an opportunity to sharpen our skills, exchange ideas and celebrate the bonds that unite us.
In an industry that thrives on collaboration and unity, it's essential to recognize the power of coming together. Whether through events like GoldenChair, Big Mouth Guildford, or national gatherings like the Great British Barber Bash, hair professionals, photographers and artists have the opportunity to lift each other up, inspire change, and make a positive impact on the world around us.
As we embark on the journey ahead, let's remember the importance of looking out for one another, both professionally and personally. By fostering a community built on support, empathy, and respect - we can ensure that the legacy of our craft and community endures for generations to come.

The Dating Directory.com decided to commission a survey after receiving so many negative stories from women in their 50’s and 60’s who had tried finding later life love on dating apps, following divorce or when their children had flown the nest.
Astoundingly, the poll revealed that whilst 93% of women over 50 are pleased to date men in their own age range and older on dating apps, only 18% of men in the same age demographic admitted that they too were happy to swipe right on women in the same age group. Even more shocking, just 5% of the men surveyed, said that they would date women older than themselves. This goes to prove that it is incredibly challenging for women over 50 to find love.
So, let’s look at why men over 50 are avoiding older women and even women their own age. Psychology expert Joni Hughes believes that society are largely to blame for the way that middle aged women are portrayed. Think about how much more exciting products are marketed to ageing men such as fancy cars, whereby generally Sexy 50+ women are rarely represented, the only version of the 50+ women we see are usually only in ads for hearing aids, incontinence pants or as babysitters to the grandchildren.
Even when we are occasionally rewarded with a TV character that exudes most of what 50+ women are actually feeling in real life – such as Sylvie Grateau, the 50-something character in Emily in Paris, known for her sparkling wit and scathing remarks, she is portrayed as a bitch!
Though men would prefer to date younger women, there are actually fewer women in their 20’s/30’s & 40’s these days that are prepared to date an older man. Especially if they want to have a family. Michelle Begy, founder of The Ignite dating group (www.ignitedating.co.uk) which offers professional singles of all ages a bespoke, supported journey with a trained matchmaker, has found that today's younger women, don't feel an older guy has anything particularly tempting to offer when there are plenty of guys their own age to date.. Michelle suggests “Younger women are accomplished and driven, they are not seeking a sugar daddy experience, they want the father of their children to be young fit and healthy”.
Rachel Maclynn, CEO of Maclynn – The Global matchmaking brand (www.maclynninternational.com) feels that so many women over 50 are fit, sexy, beautiful and accomplished and have so much to offer. Men have also struggled way more with learning to cope and move forward with ‘learned behaviour’ than women. Especially throughout the seismic shift in gender equality over the last five years with the #Metoo movement. It stands to reason why men over 50 could be feeling incredibly insecure. Whilst their historic counterparts held all the power, the men of today are having to quickly learn to share the power or see themselves rapidly cancelled. Perhaps by holding on to the view that a younger woman will somehow empower him again is an easier option than facing up to discovering a new approach and new way forward.
Nevertheless, hope is insight, with many matchmakers helping men to become more comfortable with taking direction and introducing them to date coaching before taking them on to help them navigate their dating journey. Leading dating coach James Preece has seen an unprecedented number of men reaching out to him for advice over the last year which is refreshing news for 50+ women.
1. Steer clear of dating apps – use an introductions or matchmaking service such as Maclynn International, The Ignite group or Club Gorgeous. You will be introduced to the right kind of invested men instead of time wasters and men who are allowed to be ageist. It is very difficult to be vague about age on a dating app whereby many matchmakers will just present a profile to suitors on the merit of the lady rather than declaring her actual age.
2. Try singles events such as rendezvous-london.com –especially for the over 50’s where you get to mingle with men in real life. The events have a couple of hosts who can introduce you to people at the event.
The algorithms and support on dating apps are not helping older women at all which is probably why most dating apps are still overwhelmingly populated by men, with gender ratio splits as big as 70% men to just 30% of women.
3. As much as you want to fall in love – be wary of the obvious red flags. Men can be extremely elaborate and creative with their stories, never give or lend money and meet several times getting to know someone before becoming intimate.
4. Don’t go for the uber good looking guys – they are generally the most badly behaved. Look deeper than just surface level, falling in love is not just about impressing your friends. Despite thinking that you do not fancy someone at first glance, once you get to know someone on another level there are so many gifts and gems to discover.
5. Don’t go nightclubbing in the hope that you will find someone to love. It is difficult enough in your 20’s and 30’s to find love nightclubbing – it is near on impossible when you are over 50. Instead start new courses and hobbies where you are likely to meet a potential partner. A rowing club, volunteering, or join a gym or spin class.

21 MAR – 20 APR
April sees you labouring over a timeconsuming task, Aries. This is your time to separate yourself from home distractions and focus on the project at hand. Are you concentrating hard enough to not make any mistakes? However, with all this structure comes some difficulties for you. You may start to feel like a prisoner of your own mind. Work hard but remember to set aside time to relax. Finally, April is going to let your introverted side take over. Going out socialising is fun, but sometimes staying home and listening to your inner voice can be more enjoyable. You don’t need validation from the outside world when you can get it from within. Astrologically, Pisces will be playing a big role in your life, therefore make sure to use your creativity to express yourself.
21 APR – 20 MAY
Decisions, decisions Taurus… There are many ideas roaming through your mind this month and choosing which one is best isn’t going to be easy. Take your time and weigh up your options; why are you rushing? Furthermore, collaborating with friends and colleagues will be the way forward. Being alone isn’t what April is made for! Take advantage of the people around you who want to help. Finally, this month is going to be full of joy. Don’t let worries about the future cloud your judgement, as happiness is right around the corner. Trust that life is wonderful. With your ruling planet in Pisces right now, your empathy is shining bright and drawing lots of people towards you. Just make sure to help others when your mind and soul can handle it.
22 MAY – 21 JUNE
Success is yours Gemini! Are you celebrating your wins? You have worked so hard the last few months and are about to see results, so remember to enjoy the present. Furthermore, inspiration is about to strike at any moment. You aren’t very good at sitting still, therefore after your celebration, you are happily right back to work! Go with the flow and allow your mind to take you where it needs to be. Finally, using your intuition is your best bet right now. Try to ignore any outside noise and listen to your gut. You know what’s best for you; it’s only a matter of trusting yourself. Astrologically, Aries will be playing an important role for you this month so don’t be afraid of your ambition taking over.
22 JUNE – 23 JULY
Are you allowing yourself to indulge in life, Cancerian? Life is all about the pleasures and you are about to immerse yourself in them this month. Just go for it and don’t worry about what the future will hold; you’ll thank yourself for it later! Furthermore, it seems you are concerned with people abandoning you, but you must remember that the people who are meant to be in your life will never leave. Trust that your true friends and family love you unconditionally. If someone chooses to leave, then they weren’t meant to be in your life. Finally, it seems your emotions may be getting the better of you at the moment. Your moody nature is making itself known and is making life harder for you and the people around you.
24 JULY – 23 AUG
You are quick to act; but aren’t very good at planning ahead, Leo. Diving right in is much more up your street! You thrive on high levels of energy that propel you forward and allow you to take action on your goals. However, you may find that this month, letting go is your only option. You are about to uncover something that wasn’t meant for you, and clinging on is not going to serve you well. It’s okay to pass on something you thought you wanted; people change. Finally, a practical structure is going to help you in the coming weeks. As you are so fast to act, taking the time to carefully plan out your next move will be important.
Don’t let illusions made by others affect how you see yourself, Virgo. People put others down to make themselves feel better, so don’t take notice of so-called ‘friends’ judging you. If anything, take pity on the fact they have to do this to feel happy. You are placing too much value on material possessions and money right now. You seem to be attracted to material things and the riches the world has to offer. You’re assessing your self-worth based on how you look, how much you earn, and where you holiday, just remember that there’s more to life than what’s on the outside. Allowing yourself to emotionally purge is the best way forward for you this month. Search within and feel what needs to be felt.
Fun is your word of the month, Libra! April is going to be all about letting go of any worries and actually enjoying the present moment. Don’t overthink things; only ask yourself if you’re having fun, and if you’re not then move on. However, even with all this fun, you are likely to find yourself feeling ‘stuck’ this month. Sometimes you need a shake-up to move things along in life. Go with how you’re feeling, and don’t be afraid to do something that scares you a bit. Finally, there is someone in your life who you have a small competition with. Don’t let anyone else’s actions cloud your judgement. Keep going the way you have always done and trust that whoever it means to ‘win’, will.
Have you tried a new way of communicating, Scorpio? Someone in your life isn’t responding to your way of doing things, and it’s now time to switch it up. You don’t need to change your whole personality but try to see the situation from the other person’s point of view. Furthermore, it’s time to reevaluate parts of your life, more specifically who you have in it. Look back on the people you spend your time with and make note of how they make you feel before, during, and after seeing them. If they cause you sadness and distress, they may not be right for you. Finally, you are a natural-born leader and are putting this into practice this month. Use your skills to guide people on the right track. You know what’s best for your team.
You are a free-spirit, Sagittarius, and need to express yourself. This isn’t the time to restrain yourself. April is your month to fly free and explore everything your heart has been longing to see. Additionally, your intellectual power is at its peak this month. This means you need your mind to be stimulated and are likely to get bored quite easily. The activities that you choose to do in the coming weeks must allow your mind and soul to run free. As for your schedule, you are extremely busy, rushing from one thing to the next. You may even be telling yourself you haven’t got enough time to participate in activities that interest you. However, remember that you don’t have to be constantly rushing around in order to get stuff done.
22 DEC – 20 JAN
You may be feeling like life is just one turbulent storm after the other Cap, but trust that calmer times are ahead. You’re a natural rock for many people and can stay grounded when everyone else is running wild. You are open to your emotions but aren’t getting overwhelmed by them. This is your sign to indulge and pamper yourself for all your hard work. Treat yourself to something just to celebrate how far you have come. Although you aren’t at the finish line yet, you have already achieved so much. This month, you are taking control of your destiny and putting into action what you want your future to look like. No one can tell you what to do! Keep going and trust that you’re on the right path.
This is going to be an extremely important month for you Aquarius, more so than any other sign. You are living your purpose right now and are taking the right steps in the direction you need to go. Trust that what you’re doing is perfect for how your life needs to be right now. You have lots of world knowledge and expertise, which other people appreciate you for. So far, you have gained valuable wisdom from your life experiences and are now able to guide people who need help. You may be a teacher, boss, or just a friend looking to share your wisdom with the people you care about. Lastly, now is the time to bring your negative actions into your current awareness.
Your subconscious mind is trying to get your attention, Pisces. You’re in the early stages of conscious awareness and are about to discover a brand-new part of yourself. You have a tamed and wild side to your mind, both of which are equally important to you living your most authentic life. April is going to be a month of hard work for you, which may cause some stress. Don’t fret though, as all this hard work is going to pay off very soon. Keep going and remember to let yourself rest whenever you get the chance. Finally, now is the time to be unbiased in your judgement. You’re only human, so judging others based on your own opinion is natural. However, others are counting on you to make the right decision for the team, not for yourself.

Then, whikst trying to get Kate's daughter into a local athletics club, she discoveried there were long waiting lists and people were being turned away, Kate pivoted her focus towards working directly with schools, bringing in expert coaches, many of whom have represented their countries in competitions, to instill lessons in speed, functional fitness and important lifelong skills among children. Kate commented, "The challenges posed by the COVID-19 lockdown and school closures significantly impacted our operations, However, in the past year, the demand for our Breakfast and After School Clubs has surged and the kids are thoroughly enjoying the fun, games, teamwork and camaraderie of the clubs again".
In response to this growing demand, Kate Staples and her team now offer a diverse range of inclusive and fun clubs designed to engage children in enjoyable and exciting ways while promoting fitness and well-being. Working with hundreds of children each week in schools and community centres, Aspire to Greatness is inspiring and fostering a love of physical activity, quality movement and healthy habits from a young age. ❤
"Today's children are the least active generation in history and could be the first to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. I welcome any initiative which encourages more young people to become active. Aspire To Greatness is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get fit, develop skills and to have fun within schools and local communities."
Lord Sebastian Coe, President of the IAAF
"It's more important than ever that children are encouraged to be active, fit and healthy. The wonderful initiative Run, Jump, Throw that Kate and Daley have developed can help safeguard children's fitness and participation in sports".Stephen Hammond MP, former Government Health Minister

Entrepreneur Quai, 23, and his father Dida, 47, set up Skoops in 2019 with the premise of “bringing the freshest and finest desserts to Surrey”. That they have achieved in spades! In only 5 years in business (and 2 of those surviving Covid, that put a lot of independents out of business) Skoops has firmly established itself as the leading purveyor of desserts, ice-creams, sundaes, shakes and more recently savoury food in the Mole Valley area.
